Reviews of Memorial Park Golf Course and Driving Range
This golf course is very beautiful. The surrounding nature and cool breeze makes this an excellent course to walk. The course is well maintained and it is an excellent course to take a day trip on. I would definitely go to this golf course again in the future if I’m in town again. If you found this review helpful, please press the thimbs up button below.
Beautiful well-maintained course in the middle of the city. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Rates are extremely reasonable for a course of this caliber. Two-story driving range, pro shop and Beck’s Prime on site make for a great day.
I had the pleasure of working The Houston Open running the THINK STEM Activation Tent partnered with Verizon! It was a blast and the course was beautiful!! I can’t wait to go back and play a round without all the people around though, it’s truly a gorgeous course!
Such a great value for city residents to be able to play a PGA Tour host course for under $50. It is difficult to get a tee time within a week of when you want to play, but it’s very worth it if you have the patience.
Love the driving range. Large bucket of 120 balls is $12. Parking is $1.20 for 3 hours minimum. Double deck, plenty of space to hit.
This is a great place to hit 300+ yard drives, 200 yard 6 irons, and 150 9 irons before you go skull, thin, and duck-hook shots on a beautiful municipal golf course! 😃. …
Driving range-specific info:
Pro shop closes at 6pm
Buckets of balls are 120 balls for $12 and they’re sold at the machines in the back of the little peach-colored house next to Beck’s Prime. No tees setup when we were here. We were told irons-only on the top floor and some of the bottom section as well, not sure if that’s true all the time (it was a Friday evening) it was really fun and wasn’t terribly crowded when we were there.
Great course, lots of fun variety. Pro shop is pretty thin, so would recommend not trying to buy balls there.
Had a great time, very helpful staff
Played last week and the course is in amazing shape for the PGA tournament. Greens are running fast and it is very challenging! Excellent people and a great course to play in the heart of Houston!!
Overall decent experience. And would return in the future. Had an issue with the, Memorial Park Pro-Shop. Purchased an inappropriate glove, (bought the wrong hand), a mistake easily made. Went to the range and put the glove on, realized my mistake and returned to the, Memorial Park Pro-Shop, with receipt in toe and original packaging expecting an easy exchange, as one of the individuals working in the shop had voiced, "If the glove doesn't work feel free to return and swap it out...," I was told that I would not be given credit for the glove and was forced to buy the appropriate handed glove. So if anyone needs a Left handed glove there is one behind the counter for you, just let them know I sent you. I would have most certainly given this establishment a 5 star rating had this experience not been tainted by such, "uncouth," behaviour from the pro's in the shop. Baskets are reasonably priced, and the mats are new. Do not expect to demo an full set of same branded clubs, this is not an option at the range, nor the course. Would also recommend bringing your own gear. High-end Apparel is available at the shop.
I only didn't give 4 stars because there's ALWAYS SOMETHING! The only things were the confusion on which way the next Tee Boxes were, and some of the Rough and Bunkers needed attention, but I really enjoyed this TOUGH Course and FAST GREENS!!!! I WILL PLAY HERE AGAIN.
Just experienced the Houston open here and the golf course was absolutely beautiful.
Memorial Park is truly the place where the Spirit of Running lives. When you make that turn on Picnic Lane you’re body gets so excited. I’ve been running here for years, have rained for a lot of races, and have my ups and downs as an athlete. I live near The Woodlands but I always know that if I can just get to Memorial, I’ll get myself back on track. I can always count on the facilities being clean some random ‘fair’ promoting good health products and services. This place is just amazing!
Houston’s go to spot for running/walking. Saturday long runs you can start at memorial park and run to Buffalo Bayou park. Great vibes
Pretty sweet set up with the driving range and and a beautiful course. Giving it 3 stars because the range balls are horrific and need to be replaced.
This is a beautiful course with a driving range and restaurant. There are so many things to do in the surrounding area if you like the outdoors.
Houston’s premier public course, now especially notable for being the cheapest green fee in America that hosts a professional tour event. The driving range is sick, like a Top Golf without the bar. Most days are cart path only since we live in a tropical jungle that is Houston, so maybe think about getting some exercise and walking, most people walk on this course.
I was really looking forward to playing this course from out of town, so it came with a premium price. The design and layout are very nice. The green terrains are challenging, similar to what you’d see at Pinehurst. It’s a difficult beginners golf course. We were told 7 holes in to pick up the pace a bit. We were on a 1:45 to 1:50 pace for the front nine on 100+ degree day. The Marshal had no reason ask that of us. We finished under 4 hrs and I was told they are “strict.” Be strict, when it’s necessary.
Follow up: Memorial Park staff reached out to me. It was an error by the marshal and mistakes do happen. Understood. This course does have expectations for pace of play which is good, if you aren’t familiar with this, a group of 4 players expected pace is ideally 4:15 to 4:30. Thank you Memorial Park for caring and your attentiveness to your customers experience.
This is an update for the Memorial Park trails and Nature Center/Arboretum. I've enjoyed the Park for close to two decades now, and have been impressed at how well one of the largest parks and green spaces for a US metropolitan City has been maintained. Houston frequently deals with floods, droughts, hurricanes and tropical storms, sometimes one after the other, but the park management has kept on top of things and maintained the park for the public. The park is also well supported by private citizens, including major donors and philanthropists such as the Kinder family. The main focus of this updated review is to recognize the increased police presence at late hours in the park and the Memorial Drive picnic areas. HPD has always patrolled the area during normal hours, but over the course of a few months I've noticed at least one police cruiser making the rounds as late as 1:15am. Most people don't go out walking that late but sometimes schedules get in the way and the only time left to put out an hour or so is after midnight. At most one might find half a dozen or so cars by the main parking lot by the time 1am rolls around. Nevertheless, HPD obviously noticed and decided to patrol the area. Walking the trials that late is not something I recommend, but for those who chose to take the risk occasionally it is a great comfort to see the police cruiser cruising by or parking and observing. Their presence obviously deters potential criminals, and the few walkers/runners on the trails can feel much less anxious knowing that law enforcement is nearby. Just wanted to point this out and give the kudos to the HPD.
Awesome. I haven't been there in about 10 years, but because of the Houston Open professional golf tournament that took place there memorial golf has been renovated. The greens are in pristine condition, and they have also added a two-story driving range. Also, Beck's Prime is still there where you can grab a great hamburger and on a nice day eat it outside and watch golfers as they finish. Just a wonderful public golf course!
Amazing public course for residents of Houston. $21 twilight rate to walk (with walking carts provided) on weekdays for residents. It's hard to beat that deal anywhere in Houston. Make sure you visit their website before your visit to set up your resident pass. Every time I visit the clubhouse there is another golfer frustrated/upset that they can't just show their ID to receive the rate. Handle it online ahead of time and you'll be alright.
Great course just very hard to get a reservation here otherwise 5 star
While not an extremely hard course to play, for a municipal course, you will be hard pressed to find a course that offers as much as Memorial Park offers.
The course offers a great blend of very long and short Par 3s, 4s, and 5s, which means there are great opportunities for eagles and birdies on some holes. While the fairways are open and the greens are generous, there are places on the course that can severely penalize bad shots.
The driving range is great and is always busy. The putting and chipping areas need some attention.
Lastly, you won't find many courses with a Beck's Prime (restaurant) onsite, which makes the pre and post-round experience more enjoyable.
Driving range is fantastic; the course is over-rated, over-priced and near impossible to get a tee time
Best drainage in town. It rained 2" around midnight and when I played at 11:10 there was not a single puddle in a single fairway. Played as it lies 80% of the time. Whole course was in great shape. Staff friendly.
With the redesign the course is more open, much cleaner, is more interesting, and plays 3-4 strokes easier.
Removed one star because the place is not great for practice: It sucks to pay $2.20 to park just to hit a bucket of balls. The nearby putting green is not in the best shape and the chipping area is in the middle of nowhere.
The new, $100+ rate for out-of-towners is good for us registered Houstonians. Also, I think no-shows are not charged, so that means lots of time you can walk up and play in the empty slots, no problem. It is a place that is golfer-friendly.
A great place to run, bike, or stroll. long crushed aggregate paths though a very scenic park. This place is always busy making it fairly safe your never more than a few paces ahead or behind someone else. There are a lot of benches a long the wooded trail and a couple lakes too.
Working on the golf game .not very good but had a lot of fun
Didn't play the course but the range is solid, it is all mats but most are in pretty good shape. $11 for a large bucket which isn't bad at all. The putting green is also in pretty good condition and lots of different looks at holes.
It’s awesome here. I will come again. I’m came here so many times. Nice golf course challenge.
This place is larger than Central Park in NYC and every bit as gorgeous
Houston legend… and one of the best burgers in the city too !
Great Golf experience in beautiful Memorial Park
Great place for lemonade and burger while beautiful people watching...
Love the mountain bike trails. Lots of shade. Please bring baggies if bringing ur dog!
When you can play as a local on a PGA golf course for under $50 what more do you need?
Land bridge opening party Feb 11 2022. Enjoyed the Texas Vibe
The course is in excellent shape! Just saw the final round of the HP Houston Open. I have never seen it better.
What a beautiful course remodel! Been coming here since I was a kid and love this place. Staff is always friendly and helpful, driving range is new and improved, burgers at Beck's are as good as ever. Big improvement on the facilities and investment into the future of the park. I can't wait to play again soon.
One of the best driving ranges in Houston! Great prices and facilities.
great public facility, driving range and golf course, loved it the minute I arrived with Beck's Prime in the clubhouse and a nice dining room to relax and escape the summer heat, a classic muni with lots of history
A nice place to relax and walk.
My son and I enjoy the range but raising prices every few weeks, less balls per bucket. Becoming not worth it.
Only complaints…no grass range & Google hasn’t updated the map of the course. Also, kinda suck that it’s cart path only, could help speed up the rounds. Great challenging course, thick roughs like courses in Cali & Bethpage, very fast greens(can’t wait for them to mature)…love the course! Could use a practice pitching green/bunker, surprised it doesn’t have one.
New layout is awesome. Green fees haven't changed yet. And the new greens will challenge you for your best game. Give it a try.😉 …
Used the driving range for the first time since the renovations. Would have liked a few more targets to hit at around 75-100 yds. I was a little shocked when I looked at the non-resident weekday senior rate ($80 + $12.....are you kidding me?). Seems like I remember when the course was closed during the renovations the City saying that the rates would not go up since the majority of the funding for the renovations were from private funding. Maybe they didn’t go up for residents, or maybe they did, but before this was a $30 course on the weekdays/$45 on weekends. This disabled veteran will take my golfing dollars to couple of $45 courses weekly and have twice the fun.
Nice place to walk/run when it’s not hot or raining
Watch my son tennis team from Southwestern university Georgtown played University of St Thomas ,and Pirates won 💪🎾👏.Love this place!!! …
Great course, but missing out on a lot of potential. If you’re a resident of Houston then Memorial Park is probably the best deal price-wise you can get in the city with the Memorial Park resident pass.
However, with the rates that Memorial Park charges for non-residents they envision themselves being one of the premier courses in Houston and it’s just not there right now. Greens are in rough shape, dead patches on fairways and the tee boxes have more sand/dirt on them than grass. If paying $140 for a tee time on the weekends I would easily go to Golf Club of Houston over Memorial Park.
The course was in great shape leading up to the Houston Open last year and has seemed to have fallen off quite a bit since. Would love to see Memorial Park compete with other famous municipal courses such as Torrey Pines or Harding Park, but as of right now it is definitely not.
Played the course today. The fairways and greens were in perfect condition. The Houston Open was played here 2 weeks ago. They were still taking down all the bleachers.
This is a course that you should play. Houstonians get a break on their green fees, but in my opinion, the out of town rate is a fair fee.
New layout is spectacular! The course is in incredible shape after all renovations and the new 2 tier practice range is world class, the new mats feel amazing. It's hard to get a tee tjme, but it's the best deal in town at $36 riding. Worth getting up at 6am to reserve your spot on the website. No more lottery system and they are open on Mondays now!
First time ever playing this course and enjoyed it despite my poor play. Fantastic course and the greens are in great shape and very fast. Stay out of the rough though because you will not find your ball. Cart path only makes it tough to find your ball if you are not in the fairway. Play is just slower because of all the walking. Staff is friendly and Becks is delicious as always!! Look forward to playing again in the future!
I got my first tee time this weekend at 1210. So excited to play here again but it is cart path only for the next couple months. I have two fake hips so it will be a test. I'm looking forward to posting some great reviews for this course. It is like home for me. They did not go up on their prices but I think the only way you will get one is to pay the 80.00 extra for earlier access to the tee times. I paid the 80.00 for 4 golfers before I knew it was cart path only. There is no way to get a tee time 3 days in advance so I guess they did go up on their price 20.00 per golfer. Keep it real. Can't wait for my walking 69.00 round of golf Sunday. There are 5 par 3's and 5 par 5's. FYI
One of the best places in Houston. My son loves it. Taking golf lessons. Using a driving range. The people are super nice! Becks Prime restaurant has The Best staff I've ever met in the world and I've seen places. It all requires a ton of work to build. It's a community. Big respect!
Course was in excellent shape, played fast, tee time was right on time, stayed on cart paths and Marshall was Wisconsin was as nice and pleasant as it gets. We had a great time and will do it again. The driving range was excellent and Beck's Prime was great as usual. Great service and very polite.
Great public course and driving range. Prices are reasonable for residents of Houston. I wish they replaced driving range balls and mats more frequently. They are pretty old.
Native Houstonian who has enjoyed this course for 40 plus years, even when we put a ball in the drop or old bag lined up at 2 am. The city is so deserving of this crown jewel. Through the years I have seen a lot of pros play there including Charlie Sifford. The staff is top notch and very welcoming. Hope to see y’all soon!!
It is a nice place to go for a walk. It is a big park with some place to exercise.
This course is beautiful and so close to where we live!
We go to this driving range at least weekly. The mats are turf but they work out fine. Plenty of space between.
Only two small issues with the range - I think for night it needs better lighting, and they really should clear the balls more (it’s very hard to tell where it ended up for sure).
Beck’s is convenient as well as the pro shop.
Parking can be a nightmare at peak times, so we avoid peak times.
Seeing as how this is my first visit, and already I cannot wait to get back here, should tell how nice this course is! Apparently I'll have to spend an entire week just trying to get a tee time. But from what I've seen, it's going to be worth it!
Photo is of the 2nd hole. A beautiful terror! 167yds over a ravine to a 2 or 3 tier green That slopes towards the front.
Looks diabolical..... Can't wait to experience it!
The layout of the course is cool, you can tell it's set up for professional events. The greens and fairways are in pretty good shape but the greens have fertilizer or some pellets on them right now, and there are some dead spots/sand on the greens. Greens have a lot of slope too which was interesting. Tee boxes were in terrible shape, mostly sand and dirt, not much grass. Some fairway grass around the greens had a little disease and little sprigs of weeds at the moment. Rough was all pretty dead but did have grass and were fine to play off of. I can tell the course can be a high end course but it's in public muni shape right now.
Terrific renovation by the City of Houston and Houston Astros owner!!
Great place. Will get better in 2020 as it grows in.. honestly it's a real golf course now. Greens are slow because they are new but the complexes are amazing and visuals all over are mesmerizing and deceiving. Very tricky course. Rough is very tough as it always has been. Awesome new bunkers. So much to say. You MUST go play it!
If you are city of Houston resident then this is the course to play. <15mins from downtown and the same price as other city courses. PGA quality 4 months of the year, decent the rest.
I played the renovated course for the first time yesterday. Having played at Memorial every other week for a number of years I was apprehensive to see what changes had been made to one of my favorite local courses. I was pleasantly surprised and quite honestly truly impressed with the changes. The overall layout is essentially the same, but with significant tree removal, water and bunker removal, and extensive changes to the green complexes the new course looks outstanding.
I thought the changes to #2 in particular look amazing, and with the contours on the greens and the drop-offs, rather than significant bunkering, the course plays very differently from before.
I can't wait to get back out, and look forward to playing in Spring next year when the conditioning should be at its peak.
My only complaint, sorry had to add one, was there seems to have been builder sand (significant pebbles/stones) used to fill some bare spots on the fairways. I left with a chunk out of the face of my 6-iron from playing a ball from the fairway, this is something i wouldn't expect.
The course re-design is awesome. Played during the wet and boy was it long. If you can spin it then do so with control. Practicing off mats is not best especially when the mats can't take tees. Also not everyone is right handed please put the pvc tees on the left also, along with the ball trays. Lastly putting the hole number at the tee box would be wise, this would allow new players to the course won't get 'lost'. Great course, go prepared to see the greens mesmerize you!
They have the best layout inside the loop. I also like that they have a decent amount of practice facilities open to the public. With their location and available facilities my review should be a lot higher.
However, the course is in poor shape and the pro shop staff/starters are never friendly at all. They typically seem inconvenienced by your presence. It seems like they're holding on to their reputation based on what the course used to be. I hope they're able to improve the quality of the course.
To my surprise, this course is my favourite I have played. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, the conditions were great and the layout is very fun. I can’t wait to see how the pros play it before the Masters. I’ll definitely be back to play Memorial Park.
Amazing public course in great condition. Great value. Hard to get tee time.
This is a great course with the recent renovation (Herman Park next?) and will get even better with time. I was quite surprised to note that there are no signs to route golfers (very easy to get turned around) and no signs at the tee boxes...Did they run out of money from the renovation?
Course was in pretty good shape. Probably way too much rain over the past few months, but everything looks really nice. They put a lot of effort into decorating the area with plants& flowers, specifically around tee boxes. Greens were a little rough and were sanding at the time. They have snack & beverage carts making rounds and also provide water containers on every other hole. Will be playing again.
The new course opened today to great reviews. The beautiful day offered golfers a much more difficult course where accuracy counts. There is more slope to the greens creating a more challenging course. Also included is a new double decker driving range. It has all been created to provide a unique experience of a country club atmosphere at a public course.
Nice and clean. But why in a park? We pay enough taxes to keep park going. Plenty of commercial places around city for golfing
Conservatory leaders are failing and pandering to special interest group. Same thing in Hermann park.
Service was quite friendly, professional and very informative. Thank you to Mr. Chip & additional associate for their assistance.
Also Ms. Vickie & Manager @ Beck's Prime Restaurant on the grounds of the golfing course.
Loved it. The Houston Open is an amazing tournament. Was here last year will be back next year. This is a our yearly annual visit.
Closed currently for renovations so it can be nice and host fancy tournaments. Becks prime and the driving range are still open. Great self service for a bucket of balls. I got 90 balls and paid 8$ plenty of parking and people there, but no wait for a spot.
Such a great course. Very well kept.
Memorial park is expanding and it looks great. There are plenty of areas to park for free. Looks like in the future some places will have paid parking which is good to maintain the parks. There are also rental bikes available through B-cycle, just download the app.
Memorial park is one of the best municipal golf courses in the county. George, Peggy, John and all the pro shop personal do a great job. It always amazes me how fast we play even with the amount of golfers. Love memorial park golf. I play twice a week.
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Incredible facilities, staff and course. We are lucky to have Memorial Park and the golf course.
Golf course is a in condition. Great hospitality.
Opening day and the new design is awesome. The greens are crowned with a lot of break and challenging bunkers. Fairway grass coming in and rough is deep. Some significant hole changes...all good! Driving range double decker with new mats! HOUSTON proud golf.
The course is phenomenal, great practice facilities and beck prime is a bonus.
My big issue is the archaic system for tee times, no way to call ahead and easily book a tee time. You have to get on a paper list when you arrive and pray they get you in. I've walked away because it's taken 1+ hours for a single a few times. Good luck showing up with 2 or more people.
If they can fix this and just get into a normal booking process like EVERY other golf course it would be the perfect muni.
Nice course. Nice driving range. There, now that you know the good, time for the not so good. Don't bother with lessons out there. Childers only knows how to teach one swing, and if you don't swing like that, he'll try to make you swing like that. The price is too high and they have the worst tee time system ever. I hate their tee time system, which is one of the reasons I rarely play out here even though it is the closest course to my house. The pace of play is usually pretty slow, but it varies and sometimes isn't that horrible. The people working the pro shop are hit and miss...sometimes they're very nice and other times it seems like they want everyone to just leave them alone. Despite living close to this course, I rarely play it and with so many options in the Houston area, I have no reason to waste my time at this course. I can't wait for Gus Wortham to re-open!
Nice new set-up.....still a great price....
Hopefully the upper level will be open next time I stop by!!!
Not too fond of the new parking meters.
It's really cheap to park, but not liking having to pay at all...
Love the update that went into the driving range. It accommodates more people now. However, parking is not free from 5-7pm mon to Fri. There's a section that you can't hit high and far. You are mostly limited to irons.
The new double decker range is really nice. They also extended the parking lot but still not quite enough to handle all the golfers. Downside to the “driving” range is they shortened it so it’s now Irons Only which is a bit frustrating.
Nice course but usually pretty slow. Expect a 4 hr round.
it's a good municipal course, but little lacking of interesting and variety holes, it would be a great course if more holes could be played with managing the placement of the shots rather than the length of the shots, or more water hazards could be added. Quail Valley in Missouri city has more variety holes.
Golf course is the best value in the city. The overall challenge of the course is great, lots of long par fours that make you hit good shots. The greens are always in good shape for the amount of play this course sees each year. This is the only public golf course I know of in Houston that actually punishes you if you hit it in the rough. Most public golf courses have their rough thinned out for amateurs, but Memorial allows theirs to grow out a bit, creating a fair challenge for every skill level.
Memorial Park Golf Course also keeps a great pace of play, if you play other municipal courses in the area you are always looking at a four and half hour round, I have never played this course over four and a half.
Play the course around the time of the City Amateur and you are up for a real good challenge. Don't be intimidated by the tee time lottery system, it is easy to use, and often gets you a time close to your request.
Stunning remodel by Doak and Koepka. Greens are pro tournament ready. Shameful there's no course book, no GPS, and no hole signs! Also the 2nd hole was closed when we played, they fail to mention that during booking nor when you check in, which is pathetic. I'll be back, the course is that good, but how hard is it to put up temporary signs.
Difficult greens for average golfers, high rough, beautiful course.
Great course in the heart of Houston. Grateful for a public course that can be accessed by all . Can be hard to get on so get your patience on!! Friendly staff and great burgers.
Always a great experience whether playing on the new 2 story driving range or grabbing a round. Can be busy at times, but there is generally always a spot for everyone!
I haven't played the course yet, but enjoyed the driving range. Lots of bays and two levels. Easily accessible and kid friendly.
Great golf course, highly recommend. Greens are excellent and challenging. It's a little hard to get a tee time, but if you keep trying, it's definitely worth it.
Was there for a tournament. It was nice. My one complaint is the parking. There are too many joggers and baby mammas with strollers using the clubhouse parking lot for themselves instead of golfers parking. I had to park down the road and across the street at a softball field and walk over. While I was walking thru the parking lot I saw several people getting out of their vehicles with no clubs and hit the trails. Whats up with that???
Fantastic park. The trails will give you a good, long walk or run. Plenty of parking and free. There are some paid parking spots, but why would you park over there? Baseball fields. Golfing. Great scenery.
I have never played a round here but I took lessons here and hit balls on the range. The people are all very nice and the pro-shop workers are friendly. Parking is a nightmare but everything else is nice. They have a little 'Becks Prime' here if you are hungry - which is a plus!
Is it time for my early morning run? How about a round of tennis on the courts? Please reserve well in advance. Just how is my golf game? If it is outdoors, then why aren't you at Memorial Park? I can be seen there if you look closely.
Great course, lots of history there.
This review is just for the driving range. But this is a good facility and prices are not too bad for a bucket of balls. The Matt's r in poor condition and need to be more leveled out. But there are a lot of them and they do vary in quality.
They call it a driving range, but when I got my car out on the range, they threw a fit. But seriously, it is a nice enclave with a Beck's prime. Serious construction going on, so the diesel engine noise will be a distraction until the current upgrade project is complete.
Different pricing for none residents? How about a veteran discount? I see the mixed reviews about the “upgrades”, pricing and website don’t get a response. And what’s with the staff that makes people say they are rude?
This is a nice golf course with a well maintained range, the range has two floors with plenty space between floor mats ( Rey safe during Covid)
The driving range can be packed on weekends so come early. It is artificial grass but the buckets of balls are reasonably priced. The area is very nice but expect to park far.
Best staff ever. The course is coming along and it is really nice. Looking forward the PGA in the fall. Thank you Astros for your contribution and partnership with the City of Houston.
Assuming you can get a starting time this is one of the best and most convenient places that you can play in Houston. Above average course condition, good design. Another plus is that the marshals are pretty strict, and they ensure people keep up with the groups ahead of them, so there are no backups between holes.
Incredible. Loved everything..such a fun day.
One of the best parks in Houston. The golf course is fun to play but it's busy all the time. Hard to get a tee time on this golf course. Lots of open space here and the golf course is beside the park.
Although it is a municipal course, I think it is respectfully maintained. The driving range is extremely fluid, though there are often many stand by the wayside type folks hanging around. Mid day would be the best time of day to visit this course.
I will definitely return to this location as I'm new to the area.

Hmmmm where should I start? For starters, this place can get extremely crowded at the obvious times so don't plan on walking on unless you go solo or only want to play 7 holes before sun down. Just make your tee time online and plan accordingly. The best days to play are early in the week and at early times. Same goes for the range; expect a wait during rush hour. There are a lot of high school kids that crowd up the place in the afternoon.
Practice facilities: The range is nice and spacious. Only downside is you have to hit off mats and rubber tees. They have plenty of targets out there to work on distances. If you hit the long ball they might tell you to put the driver away. I have hit it over the net a few times and was told to stop. I can't help it! Putting greens are nice and chipping area works for me. They have a trap to practice out of.
Course: I love the layout! This is what keeps me coming back. They can make it really tough and also really easy. Expect to wait on all the par 3s.
Staff: I have met some very friendly staff and also some real a-holes. I go to this course once a week and they treat me as if I've never played. The starter also accused me of stealing!! Yes can you believe it. Right before I teed off on #1. That's a big no no. I have everything a golfer could want. Why would I steal. He also accused me of breaking the 90 rule on every hole once when I was -2 thru 9. I know better and why was he following me on every hole??? Maintenance crew does a great job.
Beck's Prime: hot dog is killer and so are the sandwiches. Great place to chill and get normal food at a public course. Can be a bit over priced but to each is own.
Only reason I give it a three is because some of the staff can be rude and accusing me of stealing is an awful thing to do. He did come up a few holes later to tell me he had the wrong guy. It was a "different" black guy!
One of the great golf places in Houston. The golf course is one of the best in town, public or private. Beck’s the on-site restaurant is top flight. The range prices are reasonable. This place really is the epicenter of Houston golf.
A beautiful 18 hole municipal golf course located right in the city. Surrounded by mature oaks and tall pine trees. If you get lucky and make the lottery (it is hard to get on the course when the weather is perfect).
The team at Memorial Park is amazing. They are professional, knowledgeable and kind. I am eager to work with them on any tournament or event. Julie and her team are the best!
Good deal, nice it's right in the park. Only thing I'd like (besides real grass) is some better yardage markers. It's the main reason you're coming to the range.
I havnt actually golfed here. I just ran across the fields bc I saw a sign that said no trespassing. Nice fields. 👌 …
My favorite walking and jogging park. Super nice now with all the renovations.
Best muni in town and one of the best layouts for a walkable course in Houston. Always in decent shape and very affordable, only complaint is that it's very tough to get a tee time when you want.
trail in good shape; Smoothie King couldn't sell me a protein shake because no hot water - sales of smoothies are against company policy when no hot water
haven't used them but mobile toilets are back at the park
You can finally hit woods at the driving range. Top quality practice facility now. Totally enjoyed my practice there today.
We walk here in the park multiple times a week for years. The newly renovted trail is great. I can't wait for the newer sections to open!
Great park! Loop is fun to walk or run. People are friendly. Plus there's a Smoothie King inside the tennis center.
They have a Beck Prime right next to the pro shop. Very nice part of town and plenty of parking. the driving range is nice. They also have a putting area.
Good energy. Good people, price is righ, greens roll true, best place for the money in Texas. Sara is the cart girl. Been there for years and remembers your name.
Wonderful golf course. It's a shame that the Google Satellite view is of the course before it was updated.
Was in very good condition, great layout, and great price for Harris county residents.
Best park for long runs! Always impeccable and beautiful. The three mile loop is so enjoyable. Come here anytime i can
Beautiful green space in the middle of memorial park. Nice putting area for those of us who don't golf. Lovely grounds, parking can be tricky.
Great driving range. Automatic ball dispenser, and adjustable tee heights. Excellent basket prices as well.
Beautiful undulating fairways, enough water hazards to be challenging but not overwhelming. Lunch at Becks Prime after a bonus! Reasonably priced merchandise in Pro Shop.
Excellent trails
We stop by for lunch at Beck's Prime. The driving range is nice as well and the course is in the best shape it has ever been.
Great new layout and a wonderful staff.
A rich history of golf.Started playing there in the 1960's.
Once construction is finished it’ll be an awesome place. Parking is very limited due to construction. Course is in excellent shape.
Good mountain bike trails in the middle of city. Props to the trail steward. But please take out your headphone and listen on the trails. Headphones are for the gym.
This place has really good to you can walk or running and trade your family for or do anything you want with your family it's a good place nice park especially right now they open a new the space is more better
Better than you expect; I’m a totally beginner and it’s a great place to start. Plenty of newbies and semi-pros alike. Convenient that it’s so close to home.
12 years been going here since I moved to Houston. Fast greens. Great clubhouse with a restaurant. Driving range plus putting practice green. Great work Team
Course was in great shape considering the rain. Still lots of construction going on. I think it'll be 5 stars by tournament time.
Greens just got punched so very bumpy. Give it 2 weeks and they will be great.
The remodel is A+++ but the pace of play out here is kind of a joke. 4.5 hours is the minimum, but can easily hit 5+
The course and driving range have received multi-million dollar upgrade thanks to Astros Golf Foundation. It's a first class golf course that will host the PGA Houston Open in 2020.
Great place to do any number of things. The course is amazing and always a good place to have a glass of wine. I just wish the parking was a little better.
Loved the new track. I hope they get those greens in tiptop shape for the Open.very nice re design
Awesome place to hit some balls!
Absolutely awesome... One of the best park to do exercise a 3 mile loop. I do not have complaint at all about this place.
The driving range is great!
Beck's Prime is open. Burgers and fries were tasty. There is indoor and patio seating
Great running trails. Wide track. No mountain bikes on the SLT.
Excellent for the kiddos!!! Son participates in City tennis this summer was invited to be a part of the HTA Tennis community event sponsored by Chase Bank. Thanks a million!!!
Beautiful, excellent golf course. I highly recommend it. If you get a chance to play, I hope you don't pass it up.
Decent driving range (mats), chipping & putting areas for practice. Fun & convenient golf inside the loop.
Becks is always delicious. However, annoyed to see you are now charged money to park. The same thing is true at the Arboretum. Why????
My dad played this course 40 years ago and said its never changed...(condition wise). That gives me a sense of confidence in that the course will be in good shape every time we go out.
This Park has Come a Long-Ways since the Mid-60's...Double-Decker Driving Range is Unique & Workable...
We were here for Tennis actually and at
$4/hr it's totally worth it. Courts are in good shape
Clean park...haven't been in years. New playground equipment - very modern!
Course was in great shape, enjoyed it. I'm coming from Virginia and this course is by far in the best shape I've seen.
3 miles.. can be dusty if the wind is blowing. Without the trees it is hot!!! RICE is a much more comfortable 3 miles.
My sorority sisters and I love walking the trail
Great course. Long walk on a hot day. Beck's is a welcome relief after 18.
Great experience! Went to the Houston Open, great food, amazing drinks and service!
Looking forward to the Houston Open returning to Memorial Park. The work done is great greens are amazing
The course is in great shape. Beautiful. Hard to believe this is a public course that puts something like 50,000 rounds a year through.
Great city park and fun golf course. Always stop here when in Houston
I've only been to the driving range, but the staff was nice, and you can't beat the location!
Has machines where you can get balls. We went on a beautiful Saturday and we had to wait for a lane because it was very busy.
Great course for Houston residents. Very expensive if not a resident
What's not to love about a covered driving range in hot Houston? Can't wait for the renovation to be completed.
Actually haven't tried the golfing. But the upgrades that are taking place look phenomenal.
I go here for the mountain bike trails. They are good and there is a great community of riders that maintain the trails.
MP3 Player,PELDA Bluetooth MP3 Player,16GB MP3 Player with 2.4" Large Screen, HiFi Lossless Music Player with Speaker,Touch Buttons,FM Radio/Recorder
Awesome course, love the rework. Definetly challenging, green placement is key.
Great driving range
This was once a one of my favorite spots. The recent updates have attracted a ton a customers, but it just seems quite chaotic now.
Very nice driving range.
Great place for all things outdoors. Centrally located too. Run, walk, golf, play soccer or tennis, swim, bike ... you get the idea!
This is my go to jogging trail in Houston. It’s been upgraded but now you have to pay for parking. 😐 …
Redesigned course looks amazing. Glad to be out here for a PGA event!
Nice to see the driving range has been upgraded, but still lacks any features, or distance so still struggle with this
Great place in the middle of Houston, only said thing is that the golf course is closed for renovations, driving range is open
Only been to the range. Unfortunately they only have mats to hit off if, no grass. Can get very full during peak hours on the weekend.
Perfect place within city go and forget about the everyday life. I've solved many of my daily issues taking a walk around the track.
Really good course that well only get better as Houston grows and more investment is put into it!
Reviewing only the driving range - nice set up!
Love this place great for a round of golf and a good burger. Cool driving range.
Live a few blocks away for year, moves away and came back to it being even better
If you can get a tee times. And don't mind walking. Very nice course
Parking can be a thousand times better. Other than that, really nice golf course!
Great course! Excellent personal! No wonder it's difficult getting tee times....but worth it
Memorial Park Golf n practice range n putting is Houston's most desirable n fun n sociable n outstanding public
Course looks great, can't wait to play the course since I played the course 12 years ago.
Very nice place for running and public exercise. So far the only place close to hiking place houston has lol
It's nice. Don't like mats but understand along with no fairest woods or drivers.
We like to practice at the two story driving range here.
Memorial Park Golf course is under major renovations including the driving range. Only Iron driving is allowed.
Great course!
Very nice great job on the remodel.
Good spot; cheap parking; only 9 bucks for 80 balls
Solid ball price and great setup especially after Houston open
I run some miles here and feels great! It was an amazing experience!
Excellent, golf course, and better organization at the US Open in Houston
This is my all time favorite place to run. Tennis center staff are the best.
Nice except they're now going to add the parking meters. I'm not happy about that because I really like this park . ☹️
It's a great place to do a little golfing and spend some time with your family
Course is such good shape after the remodel. More challenging too.
Parking is crazy this time of year. But it sure is nice seeing all the people out there.
Solid spot in a great area. It’s shaded too which is perfect.
Beautiful setting with plenty of parking and fantastic golf course and running trail.
Challenging golf.course just west of Houston downtown. Hard to play during the weekend but you can walk in during the week. Try it!
A wonderful park and a great loop to run. The loop is almost exactly 3 miles.
Great tennis courts, running trail, bike trail and amazing place to have a picnic with the wife
I go one day running 3 miles then I go same distance walking same distance
Nice golf course since redo. Still not done working on it though.
One of the best values in golf! This is a challenging course, which is in great condition.
Too much people, even on Monday, hard to find parking place, but is a real well place to do some natural contact and exercise at outdoor
Very nice place. Inspires you to jog and work out. Love it!
Love running this trail. Good 3 miles round and lots of motivation!
Nice lighted driving range & course inside the loop.
New upgrades are awesome!
World class facility
3 mile jogging loop is the BEST! I always come here. 😎 …
Enjoy taking the kiddo here to hit some balls and get out of the house.
I just walk around the golf course. The park is under major renovations causing less free parking.
The best for golf in the center of Houston new course n range coming soon
Great facility close to town!
Oh, what can be done with a little insight and a whole lot of $. 1st class course and facility.
Very slow play, but a really nice layout for a public municipal course.

It's just a super chill place to sit outside and people watch.

Great environment for exercise! Great place to grab a bite afterwards.

A nice place to walk/run/outdoor activity. A little crowded in the evening.
parking is always easy here and it's relaxing
Great place to play golf or to use the practice range
Hands down the best natural terrain running trail in the Houston area! !
Classic fairways but 👎, upright yardstick, hole #, and direction to next tee box …
Great park, no idea about the golf course though.
Awesome place to jog. You feel positive and motivated.
I just used the driving range, and it was just improved.
Self-service. Close parking. Good vibes and beer allowed.
All around great place but on the pricey side. Girlfriend didn't like it too much
