Reviews of BlackHorse Golf Club
2 beautiful 18 hole courses the North and the South. The North is a little more forgiving than the South but both will challenge every part of your game! The off course amenities are first class and Ropers Grill …..well I’ll go there to eat even when I’m not playing. Add to that a friendly and knowledgeable Staff and what’s not to like!
Great golf, food and service. Course is in perfect condition.
Beautiful course - plenty of water and hazards. Staff is very friendly and can play a reasonable replay rate for the other 18 holes.
Played before a tournament so had to play quickly but the course was in really good shape even right after the floods. Fairways were like carpet and the greens were perfect. Made for a great day of golf.
I golfed here in the South course for first time in a private tournament yesterday. This course has beautiful holes and greens are in great shape.
Great golf course. Service is awesome and food is great.
The only people who know these communities, neighborhoods and at least one individual house as well as I do are the home buyers where I SOLD most of the New Home Construction while working closely with the Developers, Architects & New Home Builders. That's a local neighborhood real estate market expert. Why would you call anyone else to price, stage, market, advertise, LIST, NEGOTIATE & SELL your home for Top Dollar within your Time-frame?
I SOLD New Home Construction in the guarded & gated luxurious community of Lakes on Eldridge which has an elementary school on-site in the Energy Cooridor.
I SOLD most of the New Home Construction & helped design most of the Custom Homes in the heavily wooded community of Woodwind Lakes conveniently located inside the Sam Houston Tollway / Beltway 8 which also has fast access to 290.
I SOLD much of the New Home Construction in the heavily wooded Longwood Villages built around gorgeous green Longwood Golf Course with the huge impressive Golf Club House & Restaurant.
I SOLD New Construction Homes in the heavily wooded Master Planned Community of Coles Crossing at Barker Cypress, North of 290
I SOLD most of the houses BlackHorse Ranch & BlackHorse Ranch Estates when they were first built & enjoyed lunch often at the BlackHorse Golf Club the first few years open.
BlackHorse Ranch & Golf Club was the first neighborhood built on the South side of 290 North of Barker Cypress on the Josey Ranch off House & Hall Rd before Fry Rd was extended North to 290.
The old downtown of Cypress was located on House & Hall Rd just South of 290 where there was a gas station, post office and a row of shops.
I SOLD most of the New Construction Houses in the wooded Golf Course & Private Upscale Club House well known nationally for the annual nationally televised Shell Houston Open in the prestigious, upscale community of Fall Creek conveniently located less than twenty minutes North of Downtown Houston a couple miles East of Interstate 69 in the Sam Houston Tollway / Beltway 8 where you will see the prestigious entrance to the private community of Fall Creek & the Fall Creek Golf Club and luxurious Private Members Only Fall Creek Golf Course & Members Only Club House, Restaurant & Dinning. The Fall Creek Golf Courses include an additional 18 Hole Public Fall Creek Golf Course, Club House & Restaraunt for most of Golfers who watch the annually nationally televised Shell Houston Open and travel to experience the exciting & georgous Fall Creek Golf Courses, Club Houses & Restaraunts less than 20 minutes North of Downtown Houston.
Nice club. In good shape. Friendly staff. Would reccomend.
Awesome course and clubhouse, great views and liked/bought a lot of their apparel.
One of my favorite courses to play in the Cypress area. Nice, smooth, and quick greens. A great challenge from the back tees. For us shorter hitters, a challenge even from the blue and white tees.
Great course. All of the technology they've added makes for a really awesome and convenient golfing experience.
Nice golf course. I always enjoy my time here.
Awesome course. Perfect greens. Very well maintained. Would play here again for sure.
An excellent golf course to organize our anual tournament, a first class service, beautiful facilities and accessible to reach. We highly recommend BlackHorse Golf Club!
Great course to play golf! The staff is friendly and the course is well manicured.. I play on the BH ladies league and love playing both the North and South course
Good golf course. A bit pricey, but keeps the course moving. No real atmosphere off the course.
Nice view and peaceful on the Sunday morning with great breakfast.
Professional and attentive staff. I have no complaints! It's apparent that management is committed to training the staff well and anticipating guests' needs. I was there for an event, not to golf, so I can't comment on the course.
Great place to golf
This is my first time at blackhorse golf club and I was pleasantly surprised, great staff especially one of their starters Kevin, being my 1st time he was able to share some knowledge of the course and directed me to the rock query they built on the backside, it is a beautiful golf course. I played the south course today, and it's darn near perfect, and some of the best greens I've seen since the freeze,, both receptive and roll true. Folks its a little pricey, but in my opinion we'll worth it. I'll definitely play it again and again.
Great golf course in great shape right now...all staff extremely pleasant and helpful, especially Kayla...but everyone pleasant and helpful...great fun afternoon!
Great round today with my wife and two guys that we got paired with. I love the South course. They need to fill the water coolers with cold water though. Warm water on 100° days doesn't cut it. Cmon Blackhorse!!!
You can't charge $110 on the weekends and have your course in anything less than perfect condition. Tee markers never in the right place and bunkers never raked. Good design and amenities, but price too high.
Very well kept course. Computer golf carts keep golfers out of restricted areas.
We had a networking golf event ...it was really nice...the greens are well kept and a bit tricky ...overall had a good time playing here. It's a bit far from me, but I'll certainly go there again.
Great pace of play and good course layout. Greens well kept and course in good shape.
I play this place so many time. It 's very nice .
Very nice course Fairways are plush greens rolling good on the south course
The whole golf course is very good condition
Bit pricey for the condition of the course, especially on a Friday afternoon.
Marshall is great though and recognized slow players and made them let us through.
They could stop telling us 10 times per booking that outside alcohol is not allowed...we get it by now.
We golf here regularly. This course has recovered very well after Harvey and is still the premier course in the NW side of Houston.
North is a little longer and more wide open, south is shorter but tighter. Beautiful holes on both 18s though.
First Tee for the kids makes this place even better. They run a great program and gets the younger generation golfing and understanding how to respect the game.
Food is always so good! Ambiance and service is impeccable! You are never rushed to finish up and get out! ❤️ it!!
Greens are like carpet and the fairways are a few of the best I’ve seen in Houston👌🏻 …
Love it. I'm a member there. Two 18 holes very beautiful courses. Best staff you can find. I totally recommend it
Great course in the cypress area with two 18 hole courses. Its almost always kept in great condition. I prefer the south course layout but both north and south are challenging and fun. Can be a little more expensive than other surrounding courses but if you can get a deal it’s definitely my first option.
This golf course has two different options North Course South course. Both have their equal challenging holes. I played the South course today greens are in excellent shape after being punched just a couple weeks ago. Staff is friendly they have good food at the 19th hole. The North Course was having greens punched on June 21st 2017 in case you were thinking about playing that course soon.
Over the last 10 years I have played at least 90% of my rounds here as I live nearby and my dad is a member. From outside guest service to pro shop to starters to the girls in the grill, the staff is friendly with great personality. The North Course is straightforward and the South Course has a little bit more character and decisions to be made. But both courses are always in great shape and the greens are always fantastic. We can usually get around either course in less than 4 hours! One of the best public courses (#1 in my opinion) in the Houston area.
Played the south course today. Greens are in great shape. Lots of rain over the last couple days made for some holes being dumped with some junk but still a great track. My buddies and I prefer the north course but both are great. Great customer service and yummy food at the 19th hole
Good course. Tee boxes were not in the best shape; but summer in Texas takes its toll. Good food. Nice facilities.
I recently played south course. I am throwing a 4 star because the staff and facilities are A1 5 star and the course is around a 3 for me. Greens are fast/true and fairways are good but the rough is bare. Just wasn’t fully satisfied with the $$$ I paid. I am more of a links player so I may be biased but the abundance of trees makes it hard for the rough to grow. KEEP IT IN THE FAIRWAY ON THIS COURSE.
It rained when we went but it was still a nice course. There are two courses to play on. A north and a south course. We played 9 holes on the south course before getting a rain check on the remaining 9 due to weather. The only downside is that this place is pretty pricey. Some of the courses are just as good and not so expensive. Awesome club house and the customer service is on point.
For the price, it’s simply not in good enough shape. For reference I am an avid golfer who plays all over the country. They course setup and facilities are excellent, overall course conditions are average, price is high compared to similar venues.
Absolutely beautiful golf course located on the northwestern side of Houston! The greens are immaculate and the course is laid out in a challenging way! The bar staff is fantastic and they know how to make a stiff drink!
I've now played both the North and South courses at Black Horse, and will give them a good solid 4 stars. The courses are very well kept, clubhouse clean and well maintained, range balls included in greens fee, staff are friendly, and beer cart comes around frequently enough ;-). Both courses are fun, though lots of water on the south course, bring extra balls if you tend to go to the right! So why only 4 stars? I think the green fees were a little high, even though it was a Saturday morning, so it's a value thing. But all in all, I will gladly add BH to the rotation ... I would recommend playing BH if you get the chance!
I love playing at Blackhorse. Played in charity tournament on North Course. Nice course layout with enough challenge for a good golfer yet with sufficient options to accommodate players of all levels.
BlackHorse Golf Club is home to two 18-hole courses, the more open North course and more tree-lined South course. Both these well-rated and pleasantly testing championship layouts are Peter Jacobsen & Jim Hardy designs.
These tree-lined and open parkland layouts should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy. Worth including on your play list if you are in the area.
Played the South course for the first time. Very scenic layout.. Deep bunkers, long par 3s.. Tree line fairways. Lots of fun.. Its a must play if you come down to Houston
When you're at one of the premiere courses in Houston, you must try the clubhouse. If you get there early enough before teeing off, fill up on their omletes or breakfast tacos. For lunch, I highly recommend Jake's burger or the Cobb salad. Prices are very reasonable and the clubhouse is in an outstanding setting. Treat yourself and your buddies. The courses are outstanding and so is the clubhouse.
Course was very nice. Also plenty of places with shade. Enjoyed our round a lot. Very nice pro shop as well.
Played the North Course and found it in good condition. The greens are in great shape and rolled true. Had lunch at the bar and the fresh made tuna sandwich was very good and reasonably priced.
Great course in great winter condition, staff was helpful. This course is part of my rotation when I visit the Houston area
WOW WOW WOW, what a course, very challenging and exciting!!!! Well done!!!
Two great golf courses at BlackHorse: The north & The south.
The south is more challenging but the last 5 holes are unique for Houston golf courses - with forced carries and beautiful scenery as you play over and around the Sand Quarry. Just beautiful.
Always have knowledgeable golf pros working in the clubhouse; that can give you tips and warn you where not to hit it if it is the first time you are playing there, Jake Saladin is the man for taking lessons at Blackhorse.
During my last round at CW one of the guys I was paired with said I needed to try Blackhorse GC, that it was the best course that was close to me. So I decided to give it a try. Boy was he right!!
On 7/2, as I was driving up to the club house at 7:30 am, the first thing that stuck out to me was the course maintenance. People were mowing the fairways and raking the traps. I know this shouldn't be a big thing, but I have never seen, not once, a person rake the traps at the other courses I've played. So, BH immediately had 1 star before I even parked my truck.
As I looked around at the facilities, I walked over to the driving range to see how it looked. It is by far the best I've seen in the area. It is a top notch facility, which is included in the green fees. Thus another star for BH.
From here I made my way in to the club house , but stopped to admire the golf carts which had pillow style seats. You can tell these were not your typical beat up golf carts. Another plus.
As I made way in to the clubhouse I was immediately greeted by the gentlemen by the counter with a friendly smile. BH has a great looking clubhouse with a lot to offer. I told the man I was new to the area and wanted to try the course. He said sure and said he prefers the south course although both are top notch and proceeded to describe the two courses to me. Another star for customer service and making a great first impression.
Now for the course. As I stated before I absolutely love Cypresswood, and after playing the south course it had the same theme. From the Black Tips, you need to be very accurate off the tee. The fairways are narrow and I found myself most of the time in the first cut only hitting 7 fairways.
The fairways are perfect and well taken care of. They were soft enough for irons to easily take a divot but firm enough to allow for balls to roll down the fairway.
The greens were just as impressive. They were large greens that were receptive to approach shots, even log irons/hybrids. Playing from the tips, I had a few 200 yard approach shots, as well as long par 3s. In the morning they weren't rolling fast which is expected with the morning dew, but they became firmer and a little faster towards the end of the round. If I had to guess I would say they were rolling about an 8 to 9.
All in all I was very happy with all aspects of this course and walking away with a 76 made it even more enjoyable.
If your looking for a 5 Star course that delivers on customer service, course quality while challenging your game and course management skills, look no further.
Thanks Blackhorse for such a memorable round of golf.
such a nice course. greens are amazing the grass is amazing, carts are amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better time playing there.
North course was in excellent shape today. Greens were consistent. Bunkers were different [sand and depth], but hey - you're supposed to avoid the bunkers.
Just a beautiful course. Not crazy long, but challenging. The greens rolled perfectly; were a tad slow when I played, but it had rained the day prior. Worth the price
Played in a tournament here on the “south” course. Course was in excellent shape, greens were very well maintained, and the course is beautiful. Would recommend and absolutely play again
Course was in ok shape considering it's Winter. All though the bunkers we're not good. Perhaps they are recovering from water damage I don't know. Greens ran slow and grainy some better than others.
Always see the North Course, can't wait to play on the south. But the North is nice, first 8 holes are beautiful to look at. Greens were emaculate!👍🏼 …
Nice course. A bit pricey honestly for the quality of the course. Not on my Top 10 list, but it's close so a quick round doesn't hurt.
Visiting Houston and was recommended to play this course. It was an excellent one. Played it a few times. The South course is in better shape and more challenging.
Always a great time here
Well maintained track. Not crazy about the four holes that double back on each other on the backside of the North course, but always in great shape...except the bunkers which I'm sure are being redone due to hurricane harvey.
Awesome! A+++ club, good pace of play, friendly staff.
This is a beautiful course that provides and provokes the challenge to anyone who steps up to take on the course. The staff is very helpful and polite and the pro on the course is always on hand to give you helpful insight to any question about your game or the course.
I played in the south course with my collegue on Saturday morning. Not so crowded. Course is well maintained, but some greens are not so. (Maybe due to in summertime.)
Great golf course. Not sure it should have been opened on rainy days but that was my fault I suppose. Greens are beautiful and fairways are cut well.
Loved this course. Played the North course. The staff was amazing, very friendly and attentive. Alresdy looking forward to another round here!
Very good courses. Maintenance is well. People are nice.
Top notch track. Love the south course have I have not played the north course but I'm looking forward to it. Played in tournament here and everything was flawless
Every body is very nice. The coarse is in very good shape the greens are in great shape all the bunkers are being rebuilt due to flooding
I'm very good condition considering the flooding the had. Greens are a little slow since the aren't cutting the very close, all traps are ground under repair. Free drops!!!
Nice course. However not for the beginner as it will cost you quite a few golf balls due to lots of water and overgrown tree line.
This course is well maintained and fun to play. Challenging but not difficult. Will definitely play this course again.
Great layout. Well kept. Very tough front nine. Bring balls!
Our server was excellent but the food was really average at best. I don't think any of our table of five had anything that was great.
Very friendly staff. Great course. Great golf atmosphere for people of all skill levels!
Very well maintained. Professional and courteous staff goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you need for a great time.
Okay course,
Kinda pricey.
Not much in the way of customer service on the course.
Didn't have my usual cocktails after the round as a result.
Play it and judge for yourself.
Great golf course. Friendly enough people. For hosting a child's golf skills class, they could be a little more family friendly.
Always in great conditions, especially the greens.
Works like a charm but I wish it would give us updates on construction and road closures not to mention warning us when police are ahead
What a great course. Both North and South courses are beautiful and worth the cost to tee up!
Me my dad are members at Blackhorse and it’s so fun to go golfing there and once to get to know the staff they are so nice member what you what you love to drink
Very nice golf course and driving range. It is very well kept up and managed with a super friendly staff.
Very well kept golf courses, lots of character, I've played both courses, and I like them, North and South. Oh! very challenging
Always a great place to play. Staff, carts, greens, everything is worth the money.
The restaurant there is great. Most people don't know it's open to the public. Very quiet and excellent food and moderately priced
Can't wait for Princess Frannie Golfman's 18th bday there. Beautiful place!
We got rained out, but the staff was amazing & facilities top notch!! We'll be back!!
South course is so scenic! Wow. Twilight price is the best way to go when the time springs forward.
Played the South course. Really enjoyed it. For someone who does not play consistently, it was just the right difficulty level.
Course was in great shape, even after all the rain in previous weeks
Very nice place that what I saw did not go in but it Golf and look like it could take your money and leave you happy
Wonderful place to have an event. Folks were super helpful and pleasant. Everyone had a nice time!
Fantastic course. Challenging but very playable and the conditions were nearly perfect.
Well maintained all around with nice course. Friendly staff. Easy to find.
Having 2 courses to choose from, North course and South course, makes it convenient. Course is well maintained, awesome greens.
This is a great venue challenging course but well kept and worth the green fees
Great challenging course
Probably the best semi private course in town. I love both of the courses
Wide open course. Very few places to lose a ball at besides the water, excellent greens and fairways.
Had lunch with a member . Food was great , staff was nice
Best kept course in Cypress area
Staff is accommodating and friendly in pro shop and grill area
Nice course. A little pricey but was playable in the flooding.
Super packed. North course was in good shape. Will be back.
A little overpriced for the condition that it's in, but apparently it's a great deal for members...Probably the only reason I play here is because I have friends that are members here.
Great course and great customer service
Oh I’ve only been here for brunch and it is so good
Their food was awesome their little cook Kevin can really make some good food
Blackhorse is a beautiful golf course.

Great condition, and while it does get crowded from time to time, the staff is friendly and
We had a delicious breakfast on a terrace with a beautiful view
The greeting was sour seemed like you don't have a choice what course to play they will put your group with coupon on the south course.
Great golf course. Good condition for this time of year.
Great golf club. Get there early because it gets busy.
Totally awesome great staff and well cared for grounds highly recomend
Great course, awesome staff at the grill!!
Pretty course! We were not able to finish round due to weather
Great course and nice club house.
Great course wish i could play it more.
Cool place for golf. Some club, but very nice landscaping.
I've not been to this place, maybe came close to it.
One of my favorites courses. Quality facility.
Very nice course, although it has flooded a lot lately.
The food is good but the service is very mediocre it's always a hit and miss
The First Tee program helped my son love golf 😍 …
Always in good condition love the south course but north is good to
Great place to play. Enjoyed it immensely.
