Reviews of Indian Trails Golf Course
Well priced and usually in decent shape, my go to for a quick round within the city limits. Easy course to walk and hone in your game. They seem to cater to all forms of golfer.
I use the driving range the most, I would give that aspect of the course 4 stars because they utilize mats, but with limited room and limited grass, I can certainly understand why.
Recently the addition of a range machine has certainly upped my enjoyment, as I can get out of my car and walk straight to the range, no mucking around at the proshop anymore!
Staff is generally well mannered and will help you anyway you can. Its a fairly well oiled machine. My only grip (If you can even call this one), is due to weekday leagues, it can be tough to get on later in the day, so generally an afterwork round is out of the question.
Solid course for the price. You're a bit close to the 28th Street traffic which can be loud depending on the time of day.
Fun, convenient, decently taken care of for the price. However… they need to get rid or 10-15% of the tee times or have someone keeping pace. Should not take 25 minutes to tee off the second tee. Expect almost 5 hours to play 18 on the weekend.
Excellent driving range and practice facilities! There are practice sand traps, a picthing/chipping green, as well as putting greens. The course was very well manicured. The pro shop was very friendly. Really a gem in the middle of an urban environment. A full golf experience with a true feel of being engulfed by nature.
Short Course.
Open. Fairly well maintained. Great for teaching kids or shooting a PR. Don't trust the markers.
Treasure of the Grand Rapids community. Not a flashy course but great for those learning the game and a casual round. Practice facilities are expansive. Parking on week nights can be a nightmare, hopefully a bigger parking lot is coming soon!
Not one golfer in sight on the 1st 9 holes. All I saw were families with little kids taking 20 minutes per hole and beginners who were never taught golf course etiquette. Once the rookies played 9 and went home it was clear sailing. Ranger needed to get out from under her shade tree and move groups along. Doubt I'll play there again on a weekend.
Cheap golf at a newly remodeled city course. Not pretentious at all. Driving range is decently spaced, has a chipping and putting green as well.
Fun driving range! Very convenient location for short stop in GR.
Golfing on November 3rd. Course was I great shape. Thank you Indian Trails.
Absolutely love going to to Indian Trails golf course. The staff is second to none, from the pro shop to the the greens keepers to the driving range pickers. Everyone always says Hi and goes out of there way to make you feel welcomed. I usually use the driving range but try to hit the coarse once a week and both are in great shape this year. And the prices are great! Perfect 10!
It's in good shape. A little dry on the high places and wet in the lower corners. The greens were better then I remembered from 2 years ago. I love the practice area several greens for chipping and putting, bunkers, and a driving range. I have always found the clubhouse crew to be helpful and friendly. It wasn't extremely busy the day and time I walked up and found a spot to walk 9 within a few minutes. Don't plan on having the same experience, many times I drive by and see the parking lot completely full. I walked 9 holes in less then two hours and felt very comfortable out there. But I know it gets busy. First time golfing in almost 2 years and it felt good. No masks required in the clubhouse.
Great place for high handicappers to learn. You'll see deer, foxes, groundhogs, all kinds of wildlife. Well maintained, friendly staff, and some really fun and unique holes, especially the elevated tee box near Buffalo Wild Wings. For the price, it's tough to beat!
My grandkids are going to begin golf classes in school soon. My daughter and I brought them to the driving range at Indian Trails. We had a great time introducing them to the very basic ideas of golf. This club has a significant amount of space where we could practice putting. The driving range was excellent
We enjoyed our time there.
Beauty of a public course. Cheap, fun, pretty. Greens can be a little hit or miss (sometimes awesome, sometimes just fine) but the whole experience is great, the folks that work there are good people, and the people out there golfing are conscientious. Haven't ever played league there, but they do have leagues available.
Practice facilities are amazing, and you get a big bag of range balls for just $7. Highly recommend playing this course if you're out for a good 9 or 18 with friends.
Had a blast playing speed golf today! Thanks Craig! We will be back again with more speed.
I love this course. Staff are always kind and polite. I have been golfing here for years. It's a local city course and they try their best to maintain it. Not every hole is perfect, but what can you expect it's Michigan. Golf prices have definetly gone up over the years, but fairly reasonable. Good job.
Excellently fare price and nicely maintained golf course.
I'm really happy with the good course. Although this course is very short from the tips, the rough will penalize you. The fairways always leave a clean lie and the greens are quick and true. Most of the greens are postage stamps, but be sure to stay below the hole.
I don't like that they don't allow carts in the parking lot, but it's small and a short walk anyway. Staff was very friendly. I would definitely be coming back. Loved their "play all you can before dark" special with a cart.
The practice area is great. I love getting out early on the weekend to hit the range. Pricing is decent. The course is better than it was, but not spectacular. A good option for those looking to golf without heading to Cascade, Ada, Byron Center, etc.
The front 9 is great, but the back 9 wasn't in the best condition and the holes leave much to be desired. The greens were fast as sonic himself. I love the practice greens and the driving range just not my place of choice to play 18.
The new practice facility they built here is fantastic. For a smaller public county course, I’ve never seen anything like it. Small practice greens to work on your short game as well as a good sized driving range. The gas carts are also new or recently updated. The revamped 18 hole layout is short (4,700 yds. from the back tees) but still entertaining and tricky. Narrow fairways and small greens are still a test for any player.
4.5 stars out of 5. Early morning tee time not at all busy. Reasonably priced. Nice greens
Good coures if you're looking to get out for a quick round or just learning how to play. Short, rock hard greens/fast. They do a good job of maintianing the course. Doesnt hold water great. Negative is that they over book and pack people in ontop of eachother.
Got a frost delay, and the clubhouse got us on as soon as they could, (which was only an hour and a half). Staff was courteous and helpful. Greens and fairways very well kept, even this early in the season (April 18th).
Friendly staff and there were no major backups whenever I’ve played here. The course isn’t overly challenging and it’s relatively flat, but it’s a decent course for the price considering quality.
A rather good course for both amateur and more experienced golfers. Enough spacing for newer players and challenging enough that an experienced player will still enjoy. The staff has always been good to us as well.
Played 9 holes here with my parents and I have to say I am impressed. I wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it was for a city golf course. So I would for sure recommend if you're wanting to get out and play some golf.
Nice course for snowshoeing. Very reasonable rental rates. Groomed trails with nice mix of hills. Not much woods but a good option for x country skiing too.
This is staple in Grand Rapids. I believe this course is owned by the city so you will see a nice layout and they have hot dogs. One thing you wont see is a nice pro shop or a bar. 30 bucks for 18 and a cart. The grass is always cut perfectly and the greens are fast.
Great course, kept up well, no holes are unreasonable in terms of Par/Distance. Awesome prices too! Driving range is a good size as well.
Had a great time golfing this past week, the course was very stacked though and golfers weren't very spread out. It seemed much more rushed than normal. Still enjoyed the 9 holes that we got to golf though.
I have noticed that some of the posts are several years old, I must say regarding the greens that they are some of the best in the Grand Rapids area. Granted that some negative posts about slow play are true, however whenever you have leagues at any course the play will be substantially slow, you are warned ahead of time by the clubhouse staff when you are signing in. The course is in the best condition I have ever seen it. Come and see it for yourselves, you will enjoy your day.
Nice little place, small and tight shorts holes.
..greens in good shape but this isn't the PGA lol....id play here again a couple times a year and worth the $
Can't believe I never played this course in all the years I've lived here. Great ego booster. Short but very well kept.
Played the front 9 of the new layout. Great short course for someone who is just learning the game. The practice facility that they have now is awesome. Better players will not need a driver.
Course has had a much needed renovation. Everything was in good shape except for about 3 putting greens. Small neighborhood course. Give it a try!
Good course for decent price. Great friendly staff. Greens are small. But will go again.
I called to set up a tee time at a different course. The course was polite and told me that they had a league going on so I found this course. I set up a tee time for 4:16. When my partner and I got to the clubhouse they told us to start on the back because the front was playing really slow and congested. We made the turn to play the front and found ourselves to be stuck behind a women's league. It was over a 20 minute wait for us to play. On the other side the course isn't that great, but it's not extremely bad. I would play this course again as long as there wasn't a league that day.
I went last week Saturday and the energy of the place was very peaceful and clean. I had a fantastic time there the employees are very well mannered and keep things in shape 11/10 experience:]
We need more snow and then we can really enjoy the snowshoeing! Great deal though for some good exercise! Only $3 to rent snowshoes. Come out and enjoy a great city of Grand Rapids treasure!
This review is more specificially geared toward the course as it transforms into a mix use winter trails system. As a fat bike rider, to be able to tackle their often groomed trail system in the winter provides an excellent juxtaposition to heavily wooded MTB trails. It's also free to use and the clubhouse offerings warming food and beverages for post-adventure refuelling.
Great course for low scoring and hole-in-one opportunities! Beautiful scenery and well groomed holes and polite golfers and great staff.
This is where I learned how to golf growing up in the 1970s... we lived on Griswold Street ...used to come out here on a fairly regular basis.. otherwise the CRC rec center golf course ...Indian Trails is a pretty nice golf course ...also our school Christian High team practice here.. today I'm in living in Southern California as a Christian evangelist.. God be with you and bless you all ...accept Christ and be saved today ! ⛪📑🎶🏄♂️♥️✝️😎
The City of Grand Rapids did a great job with the renovation of the golf course. The addition of the driving range and short game facilities completes the overall experience of the course.
Great practice facility, rivals those of local private clubs. Course itself is nothing special but a good place to go for a quick round.
However, usually very budy.
Solid course for a fair price! Not a top course to visit, but there are some challenging holes and staff is super helpful.
Good golf course for those who don't care too much about the bougieness of golf. It's not a club house so don't expect that. It's a great place to go just to have a simple game of golf.
Didn't play the course just the range. Very nice. Have range, traps with greens and putting green.
This is a great course to practice on. Not too short, not too long yardage wise. Well maintain and very nice staff in the office and on the course.
The new holes are fun to play and the new greens are in really good shape and they roll really well. Nice new practice area. Great Upgrade
Wow! The practice area is unbelievable! Great greens and pitching / chipping area and very nice driving range.
Great course! Friendly staff, so much wildlife, and perfectly fast greens.
Really enjoyed it here. Very peaceful, and wasn’t very busy
Love the changes. The course is in great shape. The only negative is they let way to many singles and doubles out that end up pushing a normal foursome.
Easy to get on in the evenings. The course is very short. Great chipping greens. The driving range is mats only.
Great place, friendly staff, nice course (even though we only played 9 holes)
Love this course for the location, price, practice facilities, and newish course renovation. Very kid friendly too.
My driving range of choice within the city. Awesome short game area with three separate greens surrounded by various hills and bunkers.
What a Great course! Nice for the City! Great improvements since I was there 5 years ago
Great course, clean well groomed, out standing greens. Very knowledgeable staff..
Best place I have played golf at and I've played around the east coast.I love it if you ever have a sec to go out side I recommend going to Indian trails u will fall in love with the course
Greens have been in great shape the past two years. Fun course, best in the city.
Great golf course! A little bit shaggy inside the buildings but staff is always kind and helpful.
Not a bad course short played off the black tees so it was fun but it's a short course
Course was really nice divots in the greens were a bit much, but other than that nice course
Nice driving range. Portapotties on course. Well maintained grounds. Clean carts.
Indian Trails has really gotten better... The greens are fast and the course is in great shape, Keep doing what you're doing!
I like the new holes, it was a great round of golf, and I had a lot of fun .
Newly redone and they did a nice job. All holes are kinda short. There are no par 5s.
The recent renovation is great! I was really impressed by how this course looks and plays now.
Price a little too high for nit having a par 5. The greens are always nice though .
Good short course, Little on the high side as far as your wallet but overall a good course
Terrific practice area. Nice old muni that has been redesigned. Good bargain golf
Very impressed with the upgraded facilities. As a military veteran it is a very welcoming atmosphere and highly recommended.
I was barked at by a coyote, and almost stepped on a skunk.
Nice practice area but course isnt worth your time.
Super people at a really nice course.
It's short, but has some long par 3s. Not a bad course for the price.
Great for friends and fun
Love riding out here in the winter! Especially when the clubhouse is open. 🍻 …
I liked the place but got stuck behind a drink group of 3. Kinda ruined it for me
I had a good time. Courae atill needs a little work here and there.
Beautiful gold course. Inexpensive as well.
Short but fun, each hole has unique feel.
Groomed well, fast greens, challenging holes, nice layout
I had a wonderful time, very nice people that work there. I will be back.
Had a great day staff was great even seen a deer grazing.
Nice that they are more environmentally conscious now. Nice that they are in the middle of town.
I love going to the range here and I love how it is almost right by where I live
Short course but real tough greens and they make up for the yardage
Great value, convenient , friendly and nice little course.
Very nice public course. Very nice!
Hard to beat for the price. Good mid-level course
Chip and putt course. Staff are friendly. Affordable
