Reviews of The Ridge at Castle Pines North
This course is gorgeous, challenging and fun to play! The views are spectacular. Staff is super helpful and courteous. They have a nice menu and good food at the restaurant on site as well.
I enjoyed myself and had a fun, challenging round. I’m not sure I could justify the $145 weekend price tag though, hence the 4 stars. Views are phenomenal around the course. A few small parts could have been in better condition, but the lack of recent rain is likely the issue there. I’m glad I was invited and would play again if someone offers to pay for me. Otherwise I’ve as good a time at locations I find to be better bang for the buck. Have fun!
I'm giving it 4 stars because of the staff. There were multiple holes with multiple staff where they kept their machines running right at the tee box or on the green. Putting while the lawn mower runs 15 feet from you is distracting. They had no care in the world. Otherwise the course was in phenomenal shape except for maybe one green. For $115 for a round the golf is challenging and fun. I'd come back again but would like to see some basic staff training.
Course good shape. Bunkers need fresh sand. Nice restaurant and bar. Nice selection of ladies apparel.
Excellent staff in the pro shop and restaurant. Troon Golf is a great manager of this well designed course.
Fairways are tight, lots of elevation changes throughout the course. Beautiful views throughout. The course is a 4 star, 4.5/5 stars if they cleaned it up and also replaced/refined the sand in the traps. There are lots of traps, so I can't imagine an easy process, but some of them are quite chunky. The pace of play after 3:00 PM isn't great, hence the 3 stars. They offer a nice price but have tee-off times in 5 min intervals, causing clogs.
I play this track once or twice a year. Always well kept and staff is helpful and friendly. Carts are nice with great GPS and scoring features for tournaments. It's a little overpriced if you ask me but it is beautiful. You can count on most of your putts breaking around the hole, be aggressive with the flat stick.
Beautiful course! One of the most beautiful I've ever played had a lot of fun. Staff is very friendly. The prices were reasonable. Definitely play it if you're around.
A bucket list Colorado course. Pricey at $155 on the weekends but worth it at least once.
Probably the best conditions for a public golf course I've played in Colorado! The greens and tee boxes are perfect! The superintendent is doing an amazing job! Keep it up!
An absolute banger. Played a twilight 18 on a Sunday from gold tees. Pace of play was great. Every hole has something special - tight angles, deceiving fronts, high/low tees shots. The number and depth of bunkers is clearly beyond their ability to maintain them, however. Some super steep bunkers were almost totally washed out and concrete; others were fluffy sand.
This is a beautiful golf course. Spectacular views and the course is always in great shape. Everyone that works there is friendly and very helpful. A gem of a golf course, a Colorado treasure!
If you are a golfer this place is great, but even if you are not - its a amazing place to just grab lunch and/or a cold beverage and enjoy a awesome view and overall atmosphere. The nachos from the appetizer menu are amazing! I order them as my meal as they are a lot of food. Good size portions, always fresh, hot and yummy. Also the staff is always very nice. Michelle waited on me on my last trip and she was very good and really friendly. And the view is one of the best I have ever seen. Remote, quiet and peaceful. This place is the perfect escape!
Came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner it was fabulous a delicious buffet style with pulled pork, mashedpotatoes ,salads & desserts. The patio over looks a beautiful view of the coarse. Highly ====reèy or just stop in for a drink at the bar after a round of golf
This review is based on my last visit. The course is great, nice lay out, its fair but challenging. Very scenic , the back specifically. We played on a Sunday. When we checked in we had to wait for roughly 20 minutes because they were short on golf carts. Kitchen was closed at 6 on a Sunday which was a bit of a bummer too. If you have not played here check it out, very solid course.
What a beautiful golf course. Ups and downs....and rock formations. Your playing golf at the foothills of the rockies....well kept. Nice clubhouse and fantastic service. Good food.
I love this golf course. Greens were fast and true. Bunkers are strategically placed for every tee shot, no matter which tee used. Staff is very helpful. Wonderful experience.
The course was recently air-rated, which includes dumping a bunch of sand on the greens. That made quite a few of the greens brutal to putt on. Not sure I should have been charged the $145 fee. But a nice course.
Beautiful course. Hole 18 is worth a picture or two. They will pair you up if you have an odd numbered party. Amazing service and scenic views.
The course is in excellent shape. Greens have recovered from aeration there were several tee boxes sanded but no effect on shots. Love this course
What are the coolest golf courses I’ve ever played. Amazing views, would highly recommend.
Fun, challenging and well maintained course. Great practice facility to warm up, nice proshop and restaurant/bar. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the experience at this course.
It was the first week of April when we played so the conditions weren't great but still were very good. Greens were a little slower than I would've expected but still rolled well. The course is a good mix of challenging and rewarding. I am glad there was a GPS on the cart for the first time I played here. A lot of blind tee shots and approaches so the guide was very helpful. Adjusting to the elevation was my biggest challenge and there were a lot of birdies left out there because of misjudged distances. 350+ yard drives and 150+ pitching wedges... Crazy far distances made the 7,000 yards from the tips seem short. 600 yard par 5s were no problem, 400 yard par 4s seemed short. Lots of elevation changes and views of amazing rock formations. The 18th tee box on top of a stone formation was my favorite shot of the day. I would recommend this course and will play again given the chance.
Challenging course with elevation, tight fairways and undulating greens. The greens were a little slow for liking due to a recent aeration but otherwise a good experience
Absolutely beautiful views and a good golf course that has lots of cool hills.
Awsome Cource not 1 complaint, just be aware if it rains the night before it will be cart paths only which means alot of walking.
I wanted to give a quick shout out to the staff at The Ridge...and here's why. I booked a Wednesday 10:00am tee time at the Ridge using Golf Now. I wanted to take a buddy who has never played there. We are both decent golfers, 8 and 10 handicaps respectively and I told him that the The Ridge was one the best public courses in Colorado. The course is tough, but not too tough, the course conditions have always been wonderful and the views are pretty spectacular. But upon arriving to the practice putting green before our round, I noticed the greens had been recently aerated and sanded. I understand that golf courses need to have regular maintenance performed throughout the year, so that was not the issue. I took exception that I took off a day of work and paid full price to play a premium golf course with aerated and sanded greens. A heads up about the course conditions would have been nice...or a reduced rate would have been appreciated.
So after our round, I spoke with Alex Weldon (Dir. of Golf Operations) about my disappointment in the condition of the greens. Alex understood my point of view and promptly made the situation right. I will definitely come back to the Ridge for the golf and hospitality. Thanks again Alex and all the staff at The Ridge!
The course itself is amazing. Great views and well kept. That being said....the old man ranger that was wearing the colorado Avalanche t shirt and hat was a real piece of work. My brother and I were paired up with this 70s or 80s man and wife. No offense to them at all but the woman was hitting the ball maybe 20 to 30 yards each shot. The GPS on the cart said we were only 8 mins behind pace which I thought was great for these people of this age. My brother and I were driving 250+ each T shot and the old man ranger had the audacity to come up to us to tell us to pick up the pace and we need to hit off the ladies tees. We asked ohh....all of us, and he said no specifically you 2 without any previous warning to pick up the pace. We explained to him that we are waiting for the older woman to hit her ball and catch up to is. I said we are out driving them and waiting for them each hole. He told us that hitting the ball further doesn't make you faster then them. I have never once in all my years golfing had a ranger tell me to do that. We paid $115 and my brother flew here from out of town to play here and this olda man ranger was telling us we specifically need to hit off the ladies T to catch up. The woman was hitting 3 balls to catch up to our 1. That guy is a joke and needs to be let go and put in to a retirement home immediately. I will never golf here again. Side note... pro shop and the loaded fries at the restaurant were bomb
Literally played the worst golf ever. Pretty sure it's the course's fault and not my fault whatsoever lol. Great time
Fun course and in good shape. Bring a lot of balls if you are crooked. Had a great time.
Great mountain-ish golf course. Rock outcroppings are tee boxes for some holes. Killer views, fresh air and great facilities. We will return.
Very nice quiet well kept golf course some of the trickiest greens youll ever get to experience. Very well kept and fun course
The greens, fairways and tee boxes are in the worst condition that I've seen and I've been playing this course for many years. Greens are slow, and the damage from "winter rot" has not been fixed. Seeding all those bare spots would have taken care of it by now. I'm not sure if there's been a change in management or a change in superintendent/greens keeper. What ever the case, it's not worth paying their premium price. For their twilight rate $65, it's worth the money. I was also disappointed to find out that they close their bar and restaurant at 7:00 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Best conditioned course I have ever played (including Pebble Beach). Highly recommend to play this course when you are in Denver area. Greens were great speed and shape - NEVER had a bad lie (fairway, rough, or in trap). Staff was very pleasant and patio great place to have after round drink / snack. Maintenance staff stopped activity while hitting - doesn’t happen very often at public courses.
Awesome course, great condition, fun holes, great staff!!
Great course. Played early June '21, greens need work bad.
5/17/21.
Have played 5 or 6 times this season. It's true that the course has some really rough patches.
Some fairways and greens are terrible. And a few tee boxes are almost all sand. Winter took a toll.
I'd recommend you avoid playing here to give them a chance to let the grass recover. Constant play can't be helping at all. Management would do well to restrict play to only members, and space out the tee times. The grounds need to heal.
Great course with beautiful views. Challenging course, but very enjoyable. Don’t miss dining on their patio after your round of golf, the view is stunning. We often visit for a burger or Sunday Brunch just for the view and ambience.
Beautiful course. Great warm-up facilities.
I have played here twice and it is an incredible course. It is truly country club conditions available for the general public. Quite expensive, however the two times I played I found a Golfnow deal for $45 at a noon tee time. I'm not gonna pay $135 for a round.
Course is in great shape, but the pace of play is slow. Played twice in the last 2 weeks - on weekdays - and the round was 4:45 each time. Never saw a ranger either time, despite the info they provide to golfers. Just be aware!
I cannot vouch for golf operations, but for local Happy-Hour goers, the patio behind the clubhouse has been a smashing success during the pandemic. Friendly staff, good light meal options, full bar, social distancing rules, fair prices, and spectacular views. Alas, we were told last night November 15 will be the last day for patio partying, and indoor dining areas will remain closed. See y'all there Spring 2021!
It was a beautiful course! Very well maintained, greens rolled really well even after being sanded. I would recommended playing the tips for anyone that is about a 7 handicapper or less. No shortage of views that's for sure! Lunch was really good. I guess my only complaints would be the bunkers don't have much sand in them (don't hit into bunker) and no hole layout anywhere to be found (couple blind tee shots).
Great time, great course, and definitely would recommended to anyone!
This course has great potential but, it was in bad shape. For the cost there is no excuse for big brown and dead spots on the greens. Troon needs to up their game and do some serious maintenance. The back nine has great holes and was fun.
Difficult course but fun to play. Scenic and quite nice. Service was mediocre maybe due to covid BS. Don't load or unload your clubs. Virtually no service from people working around golf shop other than telling you what cart to use.
Even with the greens being punched recently when I went it was a joy to play. The fairways were in excellent condition and the course in general was nice. Some absolutely stunning holes visually and difficulty wise. This course is really a must okay for anyone who lives in the area. Hopefully it continues to get better.
A chill atmosphere on the patio near the 18 thy green. Just enough selection of food and drink to keep it interesting. All outdoors still with ordering at the window. Nice.
Great public golf course. The front side is a links type course and the back side is a mountain course through thick pines. It's all at 6400 feet of elevation, which makes the 400+/- yard downhill par 4 drivable for many big hitters. The natural cliffs that the 18th tee box sits on make this course especially memorable. In non-covid times, the back patio is a great spot for a cold beverage and amazing views.
Staff is so helpful and extremely friendly. Fairways were beautiful
One of the nicest courses i ever played. Nice layout and breathtaking views
Very nice golf course! Loved the entire experience. The course is very well groomed, and feels like you are playing golf in a resort location. It is on the pricy side, but it is worth golfing here to have the experience. I will play here again for sure.
Cannot comment on golf. Just went for food. Food tasted pretty good, but pricey for what you get. A burger starts at 13, but then adding 3 items and it's a 19 dollar burger which seems excessive in comparison to other places. Maybe because it's a golf course? Service had improved and was faster than a year ago. Good variety on menu, but needs to have more choices for entrees. There were 4-5 maybe and the rest were burgers, salads and sandwiches. If they upped the menu and lowered the prices on some things, this place would be more popular.
This place is quintessential Colorado. Beautiful course, fantastic scenery, and a great 19th hole. It's a challenging course for all skill levels, so choose your tees wisely, and stick around for a post-round beer and enjoy the views! Staff is great from the golf to grill.
Beautiful course. Free range balls when you play 18 holes. Well taken care of. The greens fee is rather expensive but the course and employees make it worth the cost.
The course is is amazing condition. Greens are rolling quick and pure. They are tough to read. The pro shop is very nice with a decent selection of merchandise. The resturant has great food and a really well managed bar.
I have a severe tree nut allergy, and had to go there for my uncle's wedding dinner. The chef and people were super accomodating. They made me a separate plate for the main course because they weren't sure the buffet meal was nut free. They told me which of the snacks and food was made on site and safe for me, and were super nice and helpful.
Awesome golf course! the Layout is fantastic, something new every hole. The course is always in great condition and the staff is always on the ball with tee times and food/drink service.
Stellar course that's usually in great shape. This course requires accuracy and power. There's some elevation change and everything from open beautiful fairways to sheltered tree lined holes. The greens were in good condition. You won't get here too frequently if you live downtown or north of Denver, but it's definitely worth an annual visit.
Great golf course in pretty good shape for early season. No sand in the bunkers. The restaurant hasn't changed. Slow poor service. Gave the bartender a $20 Got change for a $10 when I asked he said he must have given the wrong change to the other guy who ordered at the same time and I should get my $10 from him. I said no I didn't create the problem.
Course is great and in great shape! Course gets 5 stars! A bit stuffy and the fees are outrageously high! I love to play when they have a deal! Also lots of tournaments makes getting tee times a bit rough sometimes
This is a beautiful and challenging golf course. Greens are good and fairly quick. Unfortunately there is no sand in the bunkers. The pro shop was good and accommodating. The starter, Glen was awesome. Pace of play was good. The ranger was always checking on us to see if we had enough water and we were ok, that was nice. Sat down with the guys for drinks afterwards, Great views on the patio. After 10-15 minutes went to find a waitress, they were all chit chatting at the bar and said they didn’t see us come in. After ordering drinks and nachos it took another 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. The nachos came out fairly soon after we received our drinks. Then I had to walk to the bar and find the waitress again so we could order another round of drinks. Loved the course, it was in fairly good condition. We will play there again, although we are looking for alternatives for the 19th hole afterwards.
Probably one of the most beautiful places I've been in my life. A simple park on a high hill, but shows an amazing view of the mountains surrounding Denver. I went here with my best friend and had the most magical experience of my life. It might have been cold, but i will never forget my time here.
Great course and the greens are fast. Love it
What a great place to unwind. Tuesdays is Trivia night, 😆. The food is good, I had the wings and nachos, because we were munchie and 🍺 mode. The views from the patio are what make this place a real treasure. Watch other people fail as they try to birdie and enjoy the sunset, what could be better! …
It is one of the best courses I have been on in Colorado, played 4/13/17. The fairways ,staff are excellent. Some of the greens need love on the back 9 from weather. But this is in the top 3 to me in Colorado.
Wow! They added a service manager from Marriott to their restaurant and service is zippy. Food is best in Castle Pines (consistantly good).
If you have been avoiding the restaurant because it took 30 minutes to just get a glass of wine, that is over. Give it another try. We were there with a tournament and food was so fast we had time to relax with a beverage that came quickly. Couldn't believe the turn around.
One of the best courses in CO.. Little pricey - But you get what you pay for. I try to play this course at least once a month and its always in great shape (its Troon, what do you expect) food is good, marshals tell you how it is. One of them told us if someone is playing slow, play on there ass till they play faster or let you play through.. Will continue to play here as much as possible.
A great fun course all around. The only downside is a surly starter named Glen. Maybe because I am a woman but he was downright condescending. Really put a damper on the day
Great course and in good shape. But to charge the money that they are charging they need to improve the bunkers and add GPS to the carts. Once they do that, it's a five star rating from me every time.
Beautiful views, great food, and excellent service!
Absolutely an amazing golf course and the staff is professional and very friendly. I can't wait to play the course!
Played in a tournament there today and it was beyond my expectations and great value.
Really fun track with a lot of challenges. Course was in great condition.
What a great golf course. Well maintained and beautiful. Back 9 are better than front 9. Clubhouse is awesome to have a meal or drink at due to the views, patio, and good indoor area.
The Ridge at Castle Pines North is home to a championship golf course that ranks with some of the best in Colorado. This open parkland and prairie-style layout provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.
Great course, beautiful views, lots of trees, great staff, and awesome to grab a drink after a round on top of the 18th especially around sunset.
For a greens fee of $150....some of the worst bunkers I have seen in a long time.
Green side bunkers are in awful conditions. Mud bottoms/ rock pits. the bunkers are clearly not usga grade sand. (i expected better from troon)
On a recent trip to CO from the Midwest, my local $35 dollar muni course has better bunkers.
No rain the day or week we played.
I noticed the cups had been painted...for all the TV coverage... that wasnt there.
In sum my question to the superintendent and management is how/why in the world is there time and money invested into painting the cups while there are mud pits next to your greens ?
Good views, Too many houses.
every third range ball is worth hitting, the other two are most likely at least 6 years old.
Epic golf experience. Incredible topography changes and views. Dudes manning the carts were cool. Cannot wait to go back.
Fantastic golf course in fantastic shape. Awesome people. Ate dinner there after playing which was amazing!! Overall A++ experience. Truly great
Starter searched our cart for beer which was a first at a golf course. That was very offputting to start the day. Very expensive. For the price, it should have at least come with gps on the cart. Nice course otherwise.
Beautiful course in excellent shape. Everyone very friendly and helpful
This was one of the most entertaining courses I have ever played. Pricey but worth treating yourself if you get the chance
Nice views, the sand traps were a mess. The cart girls are few and far between and there are no ball cleaners, towel buckets or water jugs on the course.
This is an amazing chorus bring your a game.
Great course and staff. Always a treat to play and fortunate to have this course open to the public.
Nice course, good golf, not sure its worth $115 per round, for that price i would expect more service
There is a new chef here and it shows! The food quality has improved greatly. You're still looking at bar type food, but at least it is well presented and flavorful.
Amazing course, can be a little pricey during peak season, still worth the money. Make sure to cash in on the many specials they offer. It will not disappoint
Beautiful course. The back nine have some fantastic views and holes. Play 18 from the tips for a fun drive.
Cart path only, for really no reason
Over booked , so very slow pace of play
Greens slow
Tee box's are a mess.
Disappointed for the money payed
Challenging golf course. Need to put some sand in the bunkers. Couple of greens need some work. But other than that it was in good condition
Very nice facility lots of different looks
Daniels Park is still a great view, but it is a marginalized trace of all the was once so wonderful there. It's sad what overpopulation and the resulting government intervention can do to ruin beautiful places.
Challenging course with beautiful views. The greens were in great shape rolling about 11.5. Great facilities and clubhouse.
The course is in awesome (I mean AWESOME) condition and you just can't beat the service and friendliness of the staff. Keep your eyes open for deals even though the $100+ is worth it.
Beautiful course, great staff.
Very nice course. Definitly not for a high handicapper, tight and some blind shots. A lot of fun.
Very nice and well manicured course. Can be a little slow. But back ni e is worth a Colorado visit. Beautiful views
Great for mountain biking, hiking
Very scenic course. Plays good in most spring/summer/fall conditions. Course is kept in great shape.
Coming from Texas, it was nice to see elevation changes.
Challenging course, beautiful scenery and a nice lodge like feel at the clubhouse and bar afterward
One of the best courses that I have been to in a long time.
Challenging, but the wide fairways make it fair. Impressive fast greens.
My all time favorite course in the area.
Well maintained, challenging, and beautiful.
LOVE this course. Beautiful mountain course feel in the south metro area. Must play for golf lovers!
Superb course. Excellently maintained with gorgeous views. Lots of walking though because it is cart path only.
Excellent golf course in great shape except for the bunkers. They are dirt, so say goodbye to the normal bunker shot.
Golf course Restaurant. Great views from the patio and good food. Fish tacos are awesome. Good wine and beer selection. Also try the onion rings.
Great golf! So sad they were out of the salmon club!
This is an amazing golf course. But it's very hilly.
Was a great golf outing, the course was in excellent condition.
Beautiful and nice layout, every hole has own characters. Very enjoyable. But they change waters
Excellent service and food, spectular views! Our server, Katelyn, was the best , charming, great personality and very accommodating!
Great course and people
Great course, interesting terrain, nice restaurant, not inexpensive. It's worth a visit.
Great views! Everything else was just average. Their food selection was lacking.
We like taking visitors to the clubhouse for lunch. The view is terrific and the food is fresh and good.
Ate at the restaurant. Late season small menu but food and serve were good. Views are always amazing!
Beautiful and friendly golf course. A pleasant and enjoyable place to play a round of golf
In its current condition it should be $50. Bunkers, fairways, and greens are all in terrible condition.
Shot a 50 in the front and a 40 in the back......Tsle of 2 9's......
Nice venue. Had dinner with Classic Car Club of Castlerock. Great views. Great food!
Beautiful course, great and friendly staff.
$99 for cart path only, not worth it.
Great course on the south side of Denver. Beautiful views and in great condition
Was here for a book launch and the venue is very well maintained and the staff are very accommodating.
Fantastic golf course. Extremely well maintained.
Love this course. Always kept up and always a great pace of play
Short ribs were FANTASTIC!!!!! And Michelle was super kind and attentive!!!!! Five exclamation points!!!!!
Course is in great shape, but the pace of play isn't good at all.
Great challenging course. Service always good.
Great course, great views. Mountain like course South of town.
It's beautiful
Fabulous Colorado course!
Would have given it 5 stars if there was sand in the traps instead if dirt.
Excellent wait staff, beautiful golf, great pro shop
Golf course was an interesting layout and in great shape.
Friendly staff, Great views of the golf course, good food,
What an incredible place. Best of both worlds views, great food, great service everywhere
Beautiful course. Need to play straight. Good service as well.
Looks beautiful with the snow. The area is vast and it was super cold outside.
Great day. This course is beautiful and the customer service is exceptional
Challenging but playable golf course, with a great staff, and restaurant.
Outstanding! Friendly staff, beautiful golf course!
Beautiful view
Great course, well run, beats a good day at work
Where is the cart girl?!! If I have to play golf sober I’m going to go somewhere else
This is my all-time favorite course! I just wish the fees were less!
My favorite place to play!
This is one of the nicest courses that the public can access. And the rates are extremely reasonable.
Lunch outdoors. Good burgers. Friendly, efficient staff.
Lovely setting. Very good picturesque back nine
