Pros: - Reasonably priced for what you get: accessible historic muni in Greater Boston that has an interesting layout - Conditions are great, photo attached were taken late in the season (weekend before Halloween). Back 9 is pristine - Good practice putting / chipping green - Small discount for Boston residents - Staff are super nice Cons: - It can be hard to get a good tee time due to popularity - Pace of play on weekends often drags to ~5 hr range

William J. Devine aka Franklin Park is one of two municipal golf courses operated by the city of Boston (the other being George Wright). I’ve played here a few times and here are my takeaways: Pros: The golf course is located close to the city for city residents. You can get a slightly discounted rate for being a Boston resident. It’s also fairly easy to get a tee time, less booked than GW. It’s a fun golf course. Even though it’s a shorter golf course at 6000 yards from the tips and many fairways are wide open, many shots demand your attention. The rough isn’t too bad. Be sure to avoid the fescue areas. Some tee shots are blind and it’s hard to tell which way the hole goes, so it’s helpful to download a GPS rangefinder app. Greens require good reads. Overall it makes for a laid back and enjoyable round. Cons: Greens were running a bit slow and there was standing water on the fairways, but given the recent weather it’s understandable. Hope it improves. The pace of play here is slow. One time I had to wait 30 minutes past my tee time. And like other reviewers have said, the course marshals are rude. I saw them yell at the top of their lungs to people for going off the cart path by a few feet. Not a good look and not a good way to invite people to take up the game. WJD and GW are the same prices - I’d take GW any day if I can get a time.

Great lay out and beautiful course!! My husband and I both really enjoyed going, especially during the summer. Had a lot of fun, it’s very busy on the weekends but during the week was fine! Will def be going back for sure!!

If you get a chance play this course! It was fun. Nice layout, course in great shape and greens are very good! Showed up at 8:30 am and was able to tee off by 9:10, played with some local guys, Sal, Jim and Joe. Had a blast! Will definitely play this course again.

Ok conditions. Highly advise to not go on the weekends. Course is beyond packed and backed up always. Decent amount of people on the course do not know how to swing a golf club.

Very friendly staff - starter named Jim told us the history of the course and added some tips on playing the course. Nice course in terms of municipal course. Decent clubs for rent as well.

The counterpart of George Wright - and in my opinion the less ideal one. We witnessed two heated arguments between two other groups of golfers- despite it only being a Monday morning. A lot of dog ear holes so you’ll be needing a map or app for sure. Finally, there are several holes in very close proximity to one another- getting to the tee boxes for the 17th hole from the 16th in particular can be a little nerve wracking.

A classic municipal course that gets better every year. Rumor has it that Bobby Jones said, "Is you can post the 12th here, you can par any hole anywhere ". I didn't.

Nice morning being the first one off and doing 18 holes walking...course has been nicely updated since the last visit...greens in excellent shape.....a must visit even during the weekends...they do a good job spacing tee times

Had a really great round here. Things to note: they are pretty strict when it rains to become a "walking only" course, but we played here after it downpoured in the morning and the course was almost entirely dry. Conditions were great, but there was some sand/aeration on the greens which made it challenging. Overall a great course. The parking lot was a little on the sketchy side, but it really wasn't a big deal at all.

I can't honestly give a 5 star based on my encounter using the loo. The young lady about 18 to 22 west indies colored was pleasant I asked about membership and she directed me to golf ⛳ shop the woman 55 to 63 Caucasian woman with short white hair cut was rude I walked up to the divider in front of counter she had her head so far up her red phone didn't acknowledge me and upon going out to adjoining lobby had a indignation in her tone saying I didn't hear you and could I help you, I told her know and even if I wanted to sign up to get a membership her rudeness on how she spoke and only speaking once I was a foot away from golf shop deterred me immensely. Having been a person who frequently go to park, zoo and play tennis prior to pandemic was rather perturbed. They need people in golf ⛳ club will acknowledge possibile members or donors that could have contributed to said park for children in this community.

Staff welcomed us with open arms which made us feel really welcomed. Played it on a holiday weekend and still got around in under 5 hours. Players beware! Got to put on your thinking caps to get around this gem. Fun fun fun as the Beach Boys once sang .

I would've given this golf course 5 stars but this course eats golf balls like no course I've never seen before . You need to bring alot of extra golf balls if you're going to play this course . The small kitchen puts out some big food . I got a chicken salad sandwich and it was one the best chicken salad sandwiches I've ever had . The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cart girl was not around at all . You had to go find her if you wanted a snack or some water . The water buckets were empty.

Good 18-hole course in great condition for a good price. A couple challenging dog legs and a few holes you have to play blind. Clubhouse vibe is great, good food, good beer selection, plenty of tables inside and out. Friendly staff.

Wow! Huge place with everything you need for outdoors, I guarantee you. Nice, sell prices and regular prices, too ! You're kids or grandkids will love the stores presentation, its show off outside animals on the inside as they live.

Great course. Beware the white haired starter. He is a total psychopath. He acts like you're there to serve him. I get that it's not a country club, but he could still treat people decently. You can tell that he's been in trouble before because it seems like this year the other employees tell him he's not allowed to talk to golfers. The other starter, Snookie, is the man. One cool cat.

Challenging yet fun. Lots if fescue and grass not a lot of trees or water Well operated and maintained for an inner city municipal. Leagues play after 530pm but the pro shop will try to accommodate you and your group if you play then. The staff have a lot to deal with in terms o of security and maintenence so treat them well. Cons: no par 5 on the front.

I was playing two-player, and the white grandfather who came after asked us to play together, so we played together. It was a very good time. The food sold at the clubhouse is also delicious. (Original) 보스턴에서 공 치실분들 여기서 치세요. 그린피 45불이고 카트비는 20불 1인플레이도 가능하네요. 전 2인플레이 치다가 뒤에 오는 백인할아버지가 같이 치자고해서 같이 쳤어요. 아주 좋은시간이었습니다. 클럽하우스에서 파는 음식도 맛있네요
