Reviews of Diamond Ridge Golf Course
Thomas Irwin, Jr.
Diamond Ridge is a great public course. The course was in beautiful condition, and the greens were perfect. We didn’t get a chance to try the food, but the other services were excellent.
William Lieberman
Very underrated public course in Baltimore County MD. Course in excellent shape. Classic layout (lots of doglegs). Fairly open, so good for beginners. Great practice facility. Great clubhouse. Pace a play can be slow on weekends, but it's a public course. Only complaint is inconsistent sand in the bunkers. Some fluffy white, some sandy brown. Great if that could be fixed. But, highly recommended for the price.
Jay
Not sure what some of the severely negative reviews are really for. Its $17 to walk 18 during twilight (w/ advantage card) so its not exactly expensive. Course has been in better condition each year over the last few years and is in great shape so far this year. Diamond Ridge is long (for some) but requires a bit of course management to play it well. Certainly a great "home" course if you live nearby and like to play a couple times a week in twilight hours. Facilities are also pretty well kept with putting and chipping greens and a decent driving range (though a bit short for 3 woods and drivers without endangering groups on the 11th hole). Only gripe would be pin placements some weeks being directly on top of a ridge or 3 feet off the fringe directly behind a sand trap with no real angle of attack regardless of where your approach shot is coming from.
Evan Hamilton
Great course and friendly staff, greens were in great shape and the layout is very fun to play with lots of elevation changes.
Peter Bell
A shout out to Tim who runs the food & beverage area and... for however many other hats he seems to be wearing! VERY customer oriented and sensitive to speeding up your order so you make your tee time... unlike some airport venues where they think you've nothing else to do but wait in line for your order. He also gauges the audience... that is to say, instead of closing promptly at whatever the posted hour, 12 of us were still having a great time so he went into "extended hours." Don't see much of that in a goverment operation but he's the da man! Thank you Tim for making a day of sport (golf) I otherwise don't particularly care for, a good one.
Seven Anderson
We got in 15 holes before the rain started. Then our play become sloppy. The course was in amazing shape and the course employees were awesome hosts for our STEAM Golf tourney.
Ralph Randall
Very Good public golf course. Also Great for putting, pitching and chipping. Golf Coach, Al Wilson introduced me to this Baltimore County course.
David Wallace
This is my home course so of course I'm going to rate it high but for the price, this is my favourite of the baltimore courses. I wish the carts had divot replacement sand, like on woodlands side, and I understand not having GPS; I rather not pay extra for something I don't need. I already spent too much on a range finder. The course is super well taken care of, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the course is a ton of fun with my 11 handicap. They always try to fit me in as a walk-on when they can, and the cart girls will make you think that they like you. Great place; can't complain.
Roderick Walker
Gorgeous course ! Was playing shotgun format for charity tournament there were some challenging hole placements!
Andy Mann
Beautiful golf course. Very challenging. The course was in excellent condition today.
Quinton Hall
I recently played the Diamond Ridge course for the first time in about 10 years.
The course is in fantastic condition! What an improvement they have made. Will be coming here more often
Ben Thurston
Course is usually in good condition, great staff, really good food, great bang for your buck especially if you get their advantage card. Good blend of challenging vs. scoring holes.
Chris L
What a great course! Everything was in great shape. It seems like you can usually learn a lot from a facility's practice area, and Diamond Ridge has an expansive one (and it looks like they take great care of it). The staff were all very friendly and it set up for a great day of golf.
Ethan Simonton
Nice course. To many people walking, really slows play.
Art Cederakis
Scores not withstanding, between the weather and the excellent course condition, a pleasant round. Course movement was very good. An added plus was the chicken salad sandwich!
james scott sumter
Always a good experience on either course (Woodland too), very well maintained, challenging but fair and nice clubhouse and grill to come back to for the 19th.
Cody Keeth
weather was great, the course was nice.
we all sucked, all we hit was a slice.
Michael Beath
Played Diamond ridge in early September and after being harassed by the starter for showing up 15 minutes before our tee time as If I was late I was able to have a good time. The layout of the course was incredible and challenging with elevation changes on the fairways and greens. Keep in mind very long par 3s as well so bring some club. My issue other than the starter, was the course had plenty of dirt spots in areas with more grass than dirt on the fairways as well as the greens. We hadn't gone through terrential rain or anything atleast within the past week so I'm not sure why the course looked the way it did but I've heard it looks better in different times certainly not as well as woodlands but you get what you pay for. Also cart guys didn't even move a muscle when I returned to clean my clubs and just mindlessly sat on their phones which I expected different from a high end public course, I will say cart girl was super friendly and regularly checked on me and the boys to make sure we were having a good time.
philip ward
People there very pleasant. Course in great shape. Greens rolling nice. Fairways nice. Tee boxes nice.I enjoy playing Diamond Ridge.Sorry no photos of this beautiful course .
Malcolm McDowell
1 of the Best Golf Courses in Baltimore County. Customer Service is not that great though.
Jonathan Spigler
Played here last weekend with one of my friends. Had a 7:35 tee time but had to wait until 8:35 due to a frost delay. Understandable due to the fact it was 17 degrees when we got there. Even with the very low temperatures, had a fantastic time. Even in the dead of winter greens, tee boxes, fairways and even bunkers all were in great shape. Fantastic course. Staff was super nice and lively even with the cold and lack of Patrons there. Well worth the money. I live in northern Virginia, Arlington so it's a bit of a hike but again, totally worth it. Didn't realize that they had two courses here. Diamond ridge and woodlands. I will definitely be back.
Spencer Fell
We accidentally booked a tee time online here instead of Rocky Point and the staff was very professional and accommodating in moving our tee time. Course was in beautiful shape, cart ladies were so nice, except for my horrible score it was a perfect day. Definitely will give the Woodlands course a shot based on this experience.
Michael Roche
Used to be better, now it's a mess. I used to love playing Diamond Ridge. Sure the rain did a number on it in 2018, but it was affordable and offered a nice challenge. This year the condition is terrible. The fairways were more dirt than grass and I find that other courses are a better value.
Patrick Keller
Great golf value for seniors living close to course. Always pleasant greeting and service in the pro shop. Friendly and considerate personnel out on the course. Greens, fairways, bunkers and rough are always in best possible condition permitted by season and weather. Keep up the good work!
JMR
Course was in fairly decent condition. A few major divots in fairways that were deep. Luckily my ball avoided them. Greens were decent, could use a little love. Overall, satisfied with the course.
Zhuo Li
The fairway has too many bare spots and need more seeding. There are barely any difference between rough and fairway. I could rate this course one or two stars. Since this is start of the spring, I want to see how it goes in one month.
Usuh Onuhra
The course is fine. It's the people at the practice range dying to talk some garbage out so loud and too much all the time. I saw one guy playing music while hitting balls and I turned around. They should learn range manner also along with golf swing.
Christina Warden
Such a beautiful place! Great prices too!!!
Brian Rain Bacorn
Fun course, more of a challenge than I thought. Haven't played golf in over a decade and still had a great time. Fair course with plenty of open space to keep your scores honest.
Logan Kimler
I play here once or twice a week. Typically in great shape. The layout uses the land perfectly on both courses.
Every par-3 at DR is a unique challenge. The front nine is pretty wide open with significant elevation changes, while the back nine is flatter but tighter and longer. Holes 11-14 will test your power and accuracy.
The sister course, The Woodlands, is entirely different. Lots of blind tee shots, rolling hills. Even the turf is different. This course is a real adventure, and quite impressive for a municipal.
Josh Asper
Course was great but they had us wait for over an hour for a "Frost Delay" and it ended up being 65 by 10AM. Weird. Played much nicer courses in colder weather and never experienced this.
mike oneill
Staff was friendly. Did receive 5 dollars off for the round but 5 was not enough, fairways were so bad that it was better to hit your shot out of the rough. Would recommend at least giving a notice of the poor playing conditions.
Tony Lee
Very nice, well maintained, friendly staffed and reasonably priced local course. The Woodlands is a bit more challenging but Diamond offers a great beginner to novice playing experience as well. I play at Diamond Ridge at least twice a month. I would definitely advise to try Diamond or Woodlands if you or someone you know is looking to golf in the Greater Baltimore area.
John Folks
Really like the course .the fairways are open . greens in good shape a little early in the season will be back
Paul Harris
Hats off to the young ladies working the snack shack. They were friendly, fast and a pleasure! I regret i didn't give a large tip.
Ebenezer Olarewaju
Possibly the best public golf course in Maryland
Cathy Boteler
Choose Diamond Ridge to celebrate a belated Father's Day. All 4 players varied in experience and equally enjoyed playing the course. It was a beautiful course and well maintained. We will enjoy coming back.
Milton McKenna
Club House personnel were efficient and courteous, the course is in Great Shape and the crews are always out there improving. The restaurant has a good variety, and again, efficient and courteous personnel. Well done, keep it up!
Paul Langrehr
We played the Woodlands. The greens were good bit the fairways were sparse. It rained and the course was still soggy from earlier in the week. So it became unplayable
David M
Course was in great shape. Staff is very friendly. Great value. Love the new tee time frequency. Not overly crowded, giving a country club feel
Joseph Schwarzmann
Staff and course all worth the play. The course is in very good shape and the greens are challenging. The staff are professional and congenial. We play there twice a month.
Jeffrey Leber
The greens were in good shape, but the fairways were a little rugged. There were puddles from the early morning rain, but not in the fairways or greens. The.play was a little slow. All in all it was a good round of golf.
Gary Grantham
I play Diamond Ridge and the Woodlands regularly, and find them to be in excellent condition. The recent heat and rain have played havoc with the fairways and traps. The staff is great, and the kitchen accommodations are exceptional.
Martin Rayner
Course is in great condition. Always a fun place to play and the conditions were awesome. Praise God for the time to enjoy.
Troy Giles
Nice golf course, I had a good time playing, lost a few balls on the fringe of the fairway, which I believe needed to be cut down some, but other than that Nice course.
Maria
Nice golf course, always enjoy the wildlife. Well maintained and nice staff. Nice Cafe and delicious hot coco.
Adam Rouse
2018 was a very wet year for DR. We were losing balls in the fairway because of the wet turf. Regardless the place is still great for a county track and cost effective, especially in the weekdays.
Rick Prokupek
Great course. Also has Woodlands there as well. Woodlands has better bunkers, but both are good courses. The par 3's are a little long, but makes it interesting.
Kevin Huffaker
Course is in good shape. Pace was right at 4 hours for 18 holes.
Andy R
Probably the best course around for the money.
Andrew Choi
Very long blue tee actually black tee.
Matt Skinner
Diamond Ridge is a reasonably-priced public golf course with plenty of challenging holes.
Michael R. Bent
Too hot, but it's not their fault.
Dennis Barry
,
A breath of fresh air is the new look at the grill at diamond ridge. If you haven't checked it out, remember, you don't need to play golf to grab a bite to eat or have a meeting while enjoying the revamped, freshened menu!
Jasper Stanford
Today I visited the clubhouse and the driving range only and the experience was wonderful. You get a swipeable card with funds on it. Easy to use by yourself.
Craig Robinson
Considering it was the beginning of March, the course was in really good shape. The only issue that I had was the goup in front of us started as a threesome and ended up as a fivesome.
Barry Mandel
I don't think the price is justified for what you get at the woodlands.
To me some of the holes are what I describe as Mikey Mouse. The Woodlands charges the samw as Greystone and Greystone is a far superior Golf Course.
Play Diamond ridge the price is far better than the Woodlands
sean peenstra
You have to play here once to remember where to be on these greens...you are hosed if you have a bad memory..some of the toughest greens in the state
Eric Richards
The course is in good condition even when it's wet, but I wish people would repair their ball marks on the greens. Seems to be a lot of inconsiderate people.
Tracey Wilson (Blackwife)
I'm not qualified to rate the golf course, I'm just sharing my first lesson actually it was my first time on a golf course and the staff was awesome!
411Business Network
We enjoy great golf, with a big driving range, practice putting areas, practice sand traps, nice people in the pro shop and good food & drinks in the club house restaurant.
russ heater
Well maintained public course. Interesting layout with every hole is different and challenging. A lot of fun.
Jon Mclean
Diamond ridge and woodlands are still reasonably priced unlike allot on local courses and Montgomery county courses.
Others should maybe follow suit 👍 …
Ben Sandler
Fun course to play. Very walkable. Friendly staff. Well maintained.
Cornelius Griggs
Course in good shape considering the stay at home environment. They appear to be taking proper safety measures.
Keith Lowe
Best shape ever. Cut down dozens of trees and fairways and greens are lush and in great shape for end of summer
James Cox
Diamond ridge along with wood lines are two of the best-kept county courses in the Maryland Baltimore area
Dave
Good price, great staff nice they have two courses, two earlier for 5 stars, maybe in a bit
Everett J. Smith
Awesome practice course
A M
Great staff in pro shop, nice course. Some long par 4s, a few par 5s. Par 3s are challenging but reachable.
michael higgins
Yeah, its a muni, but not too challenging, walkable, inexpensive, snack lounge closed for now. A good day on the course.
Harry Hughes
