Reviews of Bulle Rock Golf Course
Great course. I'd love to play it again when it's above 40 degrees and not blowing 20. All things considered, conditions were great.
First time playing here. Challenging course but in great shape. I will play here again
My brother and I went to have a beer . We ended up partying with everyone that came in from the tournament. Best time we've had in years . Food was good. Tasia was our wonderful bartender. Sweet girl. The course is great. Plenty of scenery and well taken care of.
Top knotch course. We'll maintained and very scenic. You can even see the Chesapeake Bay from the course and clubhouse. I played this course today on October 31 in a charity outing. Course staff was friendly. The facility has an awesome chipping and putting practice area. The pro shop is well stock and the restaurant/bar is awesome. I'd definitely recommend this course for stroke play or tournaments.
Beautiful course. Very well maintained. Never had an unpleasant experience with any staff member. Neat place. Also, the restaurant doesn't have a ton of options, but they serve the best cheese curds ever!!!
Great conditions, friendly staff, good pace and interesting layout. Worthy of #1 ranking in MD. Must visit for serious golfers, beware the rough!
One of the best public golf courses in the entire region. If you are looking for a fun, challenging and unforgettable 18 holes, Bulle Rock has you covered. It may be expensive compared to some other courses around, but for a well-seasoned player who wants to test their skills it’s worth every penny.
Always a great ⛳️experience! Course is maintained REALLY WELL! Staff was courteous and friendly! 🏌️♂️ …
Was not overly impressed after all the hype, design is different in a good way, greens were amazingly smooth, BUT NOT FAST LIKE THE GUY LOADING CARTS SAID. Course maintenance is impressive, but not a very scenic course in my opinion. Food at the turn was good but extremely slow to keep groups moving. Lack of signage, hard to determine which direction of cart travel on a couple holes. Unfortunately not worth the drive for me to go back. For the money I’ve played better courses.
Absolutely beautiful and challenging course. Can't find one thing to complain about. Maybe the price, but its well worth the money.
Great course with an amazing professional staff. Highly recommend!! Big shout out to Jared and Matt.
Wonderful golf course and a great bunch of members. Service was top notch.
Even with the rain we've had recently the golf course was beautiful!
What a great golf course and facility. Got lucky with the weather the other day and took a day off from work to play here for the first time. For March, the course is in great shape. I can't wait to see what it looks like mid-season. Carts have GPS and an outlet in case you need to charge a phone, tablet, laptop...etc.
There is a short game area where you can practice wedge shots, off a mat, to a few different greens. Not sure what the minimum and maximum yards were but I am guessing 45 - 75 yards. There are also a couple putting greens, 1 outside the pro shop and 1 near the first tee. There is a full driving range, but I did not use it. Not sure if it has mats or grass or what the maximum yardage is.
The course can be tough, but very fair. I thought the fairways are nicely sized and you can clearly see the bail out areas from the tee. Some local knowledge can come into play, but not enough to where you would be penalized after a good shot. I don't feel like there were any hidden surprises. Lots of tee options allow you to manage the yardage of the course to fit your game. One knock would be the lack of signs on the tee boxes (cart GPS took care of that though) and signs pointing to the next tee/hole. I am assuming that's due to it being off season. The course flows very well from one hole to the next and I never felt lost, but there were a couple of times I felt a directional sign would have been helpful.
The pro shop is very nice. Lots of merchandise (hats, shirts, towels) with their logo. I didn't see much equipment in there (putters, wedges, irons etc) other than a few woods. Maybe because it's off season, not sure. I think the restaurant may have been open, but we did not stay after the round. From the looks of the facility overall, I am pretty positive it is just a nice if not nicer. Staff were very polite and the starter was very informative with the days cart rules. There was also a little snack hut that is accessible heading to the first tee and coming off the 9th green. I didn't stop to see what they offered since it was not open when I played. I am assuming there would be a beverage cart during the season.
In season, I could see this is a place to spend the day at. Arrive early and get some putting, chipping, iron and wood practice in. Maybe a bite to eat before and/or after the round. Then sit back and grab a beverage and talk/laugh about the days events with some friends. My group has played here before in season and was told the rates are high. From what I saw, in my opinion, it is worth it.
What a pleasure to golf and dine at Bulle Rock. our group was scheduled for a 2:12 tee time and I inquired as to whether we could get off earlier and was told they were fully stacked. I figured that was the end of it only to have the lady at the golf shop come out and find me and fit ne into a slot an hour earlier allowing us to get almost a complete 18 in before dark. the course was awesome, the deer and fox running around added to the experience and the staff without exception were attentive and pleasant to deal with. the food in the pub was outstanding afterward. I pay a lot of money to play various golf course and most act like they are doing you a favor allowing you to play there. This course was an exception! Amazing course, people and service. We will be back and will be telling everyone we know to get down to Bulle Rock! Thank you!
Pretty hard course and way out there for us but its great.
Awesome course layout & conditions, incredible practice facilities, and a great clubhouse/restaurant. Couldn't recommend Bulle Rock enough.
Played here for the first time as a part of a 40 person outing, mostly strangers. The course graciously worked with our organizer to put together a phenomenal event, including a long drive and closest to the pin contest.
If you are ever in the area, would 100% recommend getting out here for a round at a great Pete Dye track. Next time I will make sure to get there more than 30ish minutes early so I can really get a nice range sesh in before teeing off. All the employees that I spoke with were friendly and helpful.
Thanks Bulle Rock for hosting the Inaugural Mid-Atlantic Reddit Open!
I always look forward to playing here and once again I was impressed. If you haven’t played here you just have to! Challenging , fun , course conditions are always magnificent . Pace of play was juuuust right for Father’s Day. Award winning, and one of Maryland’s top 10 golf course to play.
A true test of your golf skills. Only advice I can give you is...
Hit em str8, enjoy your round and get the crab cake for lunch afterwards.
I've lived here for 15 years. I've gone to "the club" uncountable dozens of times since we first moved here. I've seen multiple chefs, managers and servers come and go. I've witnessed the decor change multiple times. It's unfortunate that the place just continues to go down hill. It has so much potential with the right combination of kitchen, and management, but just keeps falling. Tonight was yet another mediocre evening... At Best... with my daughter, son in law, and grandkids.... who all know quality food. (Thankfully). Such a shame to see a neighborhood (what could be a gold mine) spot continue to disappoint.
Greens are championship level and hole layouts/fairways are challenging. Lost stars on service... Which felt more like a small local club course.
Living off its name, not up to it. It's been 20 years and what this course started out to be and wanted to be, and was, has turned into a pretender. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful, with some of the best looking and playing holes in the area. But this is about comparison and value. We shouldn't compare our children, but yes, we compare golf courses.
First, as the #1 daily fees and most expensive daily fees course, I shouldn't feel as if I'm at a municipal course when arrival. It use to feel special. You were greeted, you had a bag tag put on your bag with your name, it felt like a country club. And that is what they were all about, a country club feel for a daily fees course.
Second; conditions. I do understand there are many factors that play into conditions. And I absolutely appreciate how they handle aerated greens, well done. But, the rest of the course should be as pristine as possible and yes, I am holding them to a higher standard than say, Greystone or Woodlands. I shouldn't feel like I'm one of those places. Whiskey Creek in Frederick county, treats you like a welcomed guest, the course is in fantastic condition and at a fraction of the price.
Now, I am not saying It's better. It's a value comparison, and it just doesn't compare in value.
Whiskey Creek feels like they want you to come back, Bulle Rock feels like, well look what we got voted 12 years ago....it just feels like someone resting on their laurels. And that's a shame, because the track is beautiful, especially after the first few holes.
I don't want to sound like it's bad, it is NOT. You don't go to Ruth's Chris and expect Outback. You can go to both and have a equal nice time, but Ruth's has to be better. Bulle Rock has to be better, it was, it portrays itself as better and has a reputation as better.
This isn't a one time feeling. I've played their probably 8 times, though had not played in about 10 years. I had stopped because it was not worth the money back then. My son is older now and I wanted to take him to a golf treat, and he was dissapointed, as was I.
Too many times, in Maryland, we see golf clubs with aspirations of grander, and somehow, they never hold to the original concept.
Living off its name, but living up to it.
Drove from DC as this was halfway point for brothers to meet. The staff was outstanding, enjoyed the clubhouse and facilities. My one gripe, cart path only when it was 96 degrees and had not rained in several days- maybe a quick storm. Thought it was a joke when they said carts on path. By the end of the round they had all sprinklers on and had not lifted the restriction. The GPS on the carts were useless....poor management. Would have played elsewhere if something was close.
Awesome golf course! The course was in great shape, the pace of play was fast, and the course was challenging without being frustrating. Staff was very pleasant as well.
I absolutely love this place!!! Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, great music, beautiful people. All around breath taking.
Great Pete Dye gem. Very good condition. 👍 …
Pleasant to visit. I recently attended a wedding, the place was serene looking out over the golf course. I will go back for the pub and grille portion so that I can check out the rest. The staff engaged for the wedding were very accommodating and pleasant.
Played here for the first time. If this was an inexpensive muni course, yeah, it would be 4 and a half stars. But it isn't. It's expensive and laid out by a hall of fame architect and it has a lot of history. The overall conditions were so so at best. Tee boxes just ok. Greens pretty bad. Weeds and crab grass throughout including in some bunkers. Some fairways burnt out. For the greens fee they charge, you'd expect much better than just so so conditions. Golf now hot deal was still a pricey $68, down from the usual $90. The club house looked very pretty and facilities very nice. Just wish the conditions were better.
Wrong again. I have not been in bulle rock for several years
Course is beautiful greens were very slow and not cut.
Played here for a Golf Channel Am Tour event. The course saw 17in of rain that week but couldn't tell! Only thing was that the greens were really, really slow! Understandably so with some of the green contours but 7.5-8 and had to kill it going uphill! Really good test of golf and fair but you have to play well! I placed 3rd out of 25 in my flight and it was the first time seeing the course. Grab a beer and a crab cake sandwich from the grille, it was delicious!
Large bare spots in fairways. Thin & bare spots on the greens. Lots of crabgrass and uneven rough. Over priced. Not the shape it use to be a few years ago. Still a very beautiful course. But for the price you expect more.
After a couple of changes in ownership, Bulle Rock is still one of if not my favorite course in Maryland. The course was designed by Pete Dye. It's tough but isn't unreasonable. The LPGA hosted a major championship here for several years and had to play it at under 6500 yards apparently. The 18th hole is a brute but is a fantastic finishing hole. The new management also dropped the price in 2018 and now it's a must play. I used to try and get out here once a year but now it'll be a multiple times a year treat for me.
Course conditions have been pretty much perfect every time I have played here. Only once were the greens a little slow and that was during a rough heat wave. It also hasn't been too busy. The only homes you see on the course are on the first hole which is a nice change. It is walkable which is a plus, but you will need a cart to get to the range. The range is spacious and the grass is awesome. There is a small putting green near the clubhouse. This is the one to use. The bigger one near the first tee is too flat for anything you'll see on the course. The chipping/bunker area is amazing. Tons of space to work on every shot you'll ever need. I could spend an afternoon just on that.
I just can't say enough good things about this place. And I can't wait to go back.
Wonderful course in Havre De Grace. Hosted LPGA Major for several years.
Can play to every level. They have 5 or 6 different sets of tees. So, even beginners can play this course.
Greens are very fast, but very true. They are subtle to read, so you need to look where you are putting. Rough is punishing, but not penal.
Clubhouse is really nice. Prices are very reasonable on weekdays, a little high on weekends.
Great course to play. Highly recommend.
Wow. The course was amazing but what made the place exceptional was the staff. They were professional and welcoming and just made for a great day. It didn’t hurt that I fired off a 76 and pounded my two sons into the ground!!!
It started off great as you drove down the hill with the Club House in view, military service flags blowing next to 18, the view, then coming through the gate to head to the bag drop. This is where my biggest complaint was. My first encounter, wish i got his name, was not pleasant. I got of the car, shared a greeting, and got a scowl look from this particular guy. He asked if I had a tee time and when I responded he threw his hands and shoulders up in disgust and was condescending. However, what really saved it was the next staff member that pulled up and greeted us "Good morning and welcome to Bulle Rock. Do you have a tee and and how can I help you today." What a difference and I will not let one person ruin anything. Now onto the course.
I read an article from 17 June, Golf Week, when i entered the clubhouse I was glad to be able to associate it with something. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They had the Golf Channel on in the back ground and had great memorabilia and swag.
We hopped in our carts and headed to the driving range. We really enjoyed hitting off of grass. What a relief this was and it was a nice range. Pretty easy to follow and as long as you didn't get that one guy the staff will definitely help you out. However, just follow the white dots all the way to the range.
After the range my group of 8 gathered at the first tee and met the starter. Very friendly, professional, and funny. He explained the course very well with the do's and don'ts of Bulle Rock. Looking down the first fairway can be little intimidating because it looks narrow but don't sweat it. You got it and stay our of the tic forest. Known for the big cases of Lyme's Disease (he warns you at the start).
The course was beautifully laid out and I really enjoyed seeing what adventure was coming around the corner. The flowers and fescue through the rolling hills, listening to the sound the ball cracking off the driver (couple cuss words later) a congrats on a great putt was due. Lot of holes being strategic was a must. I used driver on all but number 6 (3 wood). We played from the blues today.
The biggest downfall were the speed of the greens. They were shaggy but to their credit we got some really good rain Thursday and Friday but no affects on the overall course.
I can't wait to make it back before the rumors "For Sale" goes away.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Course is challenging but fair. After playing 18 we had a great and quick meal before playing another 18. Great day overall and the course is highly recommended.
Wonderful course and quite beautiful!
Bulle Rock is always a challenging but fair course - very good condition and enjoyed my round
I work in the industry and it always cracks me up when I read about bad experiences people have when they show up to play golf after 430. This isn't a goat track desperate for the discount hackers who want to stay out till dark. At the club I work at we eliminated twilight rate and after 3pm the rate goes back up to the full amount. If you want to keep people there while your the only ones on the golf course you should at least pay for it. Most courses still offer this twilight rate though. You should at least throw the cart guy a few bucks if your gonna make him wait but I am sure that will never happen because only the cheapskates come out for those bottom of the barrel rates.
Bulle Rock Golf Club is home to one of the top-rated and finest championship golf courses in Maryland. The excellent tree-lined and open parkland layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Definitely a course that will challenge your all-round game, and well worth going out of your way to play.
Two weeks ago I hosted my sister’s bridal shower at Bulle Rock. Tammy was a delight to work with, she was accommodating and friendly. The food, staff, and space were all wonderful. Additionally, the groom played golf with some of the other guys in his family during the shower and they had a wonderful time.
There is a reason this track is touted as the #1 Golf Course you can play in the entire Mid-Atlantic -- that's because it is.
18 completely different, sick holes, staff makes you feel like you are playing Pine Valley, out of this world course conditions & maintenance staff, and unless you are a + handicapp -- stay off the tips here.
Simply, fantastic -- and with their package thing it's only like $90/round!
Kicked my tail. Beautiful track.
Still a tough golf course. Great conditions. Rough is rough. Green putt true.
Excellent service and food taste. My kids enjoyed the Christmas party so good. They should encourage diverse races to attend next time. The staff was amazing. I will definitely visit again. 👌👏 …
Great course with some challenging holes.
I liked it. There was great variety I thought among the holes; not many reminded me of another on the property. A few were memorable (the 9th and 11th come to mind). When I was there (April) the conditioning was so-so but I believe it gets much better. They reduced the greens fee bc of this which I believe was the correct thing to do.
Played here for the first time yesterday. Experience top to bottom was first class. Staff was friendly and the track was in great shape for this time of year. The course is challenging but worth the money!
Friendly staff and great service. My drinks are always spot on. Only issue is it’s always a bit busy.
I come back at least 3 times a year. I feel like a king every time I go. Truly a special day and something to look forward to. Although I pay about $85 / round by purchasing their frequent player package, it's worth much more.
played here on mothers day 2020, tees/fairways/rough were great but the greens were pretty awful compared to other cheaper public courses coming out of quarantine. Not sure if they did not have the crew to get the greens back from aeration.
Great venue thintastic professional staff make you feel welcome and very professional in their carrying of duties.
Bulle Rock is perhaps the best public course I've played - and I've played a good number of them. The facility, the staff, the course itself are top-notch. This course should be a must play for anyone living in the DMV (DC, MD, VA) area.
Great course. Well laid out. Good test but possible to score if you can stay out of the rough. The 9th and 18th holes are especially great!
Great food. Did not play golf. Well kept, clean. Wish I knew more about it.
Great course, have played here many times. Friendly staff and prices have dropped this season. Well worth the drive.
Beautiful course and as everyone who has had lunch or dinner there. There is nothing like the crab soup and crapcakes. The Best!!
Course was fantastic but service was absolutely wretched (except for the old guys out front)
Heard several very, very racist comments coming from the check-in/pro shop staff in regards to Obama while I was waiting for my friends in the hallway right outside.
Probably won't go back, maybe if friends pay?
Love this course. My cousin treated me with a free round I couldn't say no it is the best course I've played in the local area
The drinks were amazing! And the food was delicious. Price was reasonable due to name and location I expected to pay a little more, so I was pleasantly surprised!
Well maintained grounds with a spirit of Excellence throughout this facility..
I can't wait See Tiger Woods for a round of golf with a few close friends the 27th..
Great course and great staff! I'll have to come back and play when it's not raining to get the best experience.
Awesome course. Long as hell from the back tees at 7,400 but it makes for a very challenging day. Great value too.
Well worth a visit to this picturesque golf course.
Former stop for the LPGA tour.
a challenge for any skill level.
LPGA used to play here. This is a great Pete Dye course. Super challenging and just fun to play. Practice facility is awesome.
Great course but not a course you want to walk. Even cart path layout not best design for someone with bad knees.
Beautiful course! Staff was friendly and inviting. I will be back to play there again.
Man, tough course to play if you haven't been here. Wife open and long holes. Its in excellent condition and loved it.
Love the course and the Employees are great and courteous and Professional. Also the Lunch break of Hot Dog and Fries hit the spot
i visited the restaurant. great service, nice views & good food. i'm going to tell folks it is worth the visit & i personally will be back soon. thanks for a nice lunch. it was great.
Beautiful course. Greens fees a little steep but I heard they're coming down. This was posted May 2018
Nice course, great practice area and locker room. Good food in Restaurant above Pro Shop. Crab Pretzels........yummy
First rate all the way around. From the time you arrive until you leave. Course is excellent and so is the hospitality!
Always a good time. Environment and food is great.
Great food, but they close early. The seafood pasta was good and the brussel sprouts we're to die for.
Course was in Amazing condition. They have new lower prices for green fees. Check them out!!
When the a/c is not working thru no fault of your guest on one of the hottest days of the year think about providing them some water
Challenging course, well maintained, beautiful clubhouse. Great views as well. 10/10 would play again.
Very nice course!
Went to the restaurant. Food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable. If you're looking for affordable high-end dinning, this is a place you should try.
Really not that nice of a golf course, overpriced
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Emmy was great!
Awesome Dye course design. Usually well kept for public course. love playing here.
This place is a little secret that nobody knows about. Everybody thinks it's private, but it's not. Great food, great prices, great views, great service.
The Silks has great food and beverages. The alcohol was relatively cheap and the view was great.
A first-class clubhouse and beautiful course. Some of the holes have long yardage for their par.
Good course, the slow play is not great. Almost three hours to play 9 holes, yikes.
One of the best courses around especially now that they lowered their geens fees
Outstanding course and amazingly friendly staff. Truly worth the price!!
Good food and service. The manager however seems very low class. Baseball cap? Really?
Because we were at Bulle Rock Golf Course with my church called The Salvation Army Doing the Most Good
Fabulous golf course with a great restaurant for after the round!
Golf course in great shape and we'll arranged even for the less gifted golfers.
Great course. KEEP IT IN THE FAIRWAY.
Average sledding hills but nothing special. They don't much like bikers or sledders though. Expensive n/a beverages.
Classy golf course, ranked high and has hosted LGPA events.
Golf course layout is fantastic. A real treat to play.
In great shape, challenging course ... Way a golf course should be run
Great place but food was not fresh. Found mold on bread rolls.

Well maintained. Great staff. Well stocked pro shop.
Good place to golf but overpriced for the area and the type of golf course .

Course was a little beat up, but still a challenging manageable track
Burger was delicious and very reasonable. Server was fabulous
The food and service were very good and the view superb.
No buffet anymore but food was great. Different management

Love the condition of course and practice facilities are awesome
Good food not too pricey. Great atmosphere
An uneven experience. Had to send food back because it was cold, but the chef made it right. I'd try it again.
