Reviews of West Pines Golf Club
I’ve been going to this course for the past 4 years, it used to be an OK Muni in the area but since covid they have put a TON of money in renovating this course to because something exception in the area. the layout has great variety and rewards good play well without being too difficult to higher handicaps. There are a couple of holes that you can make some big numbers on because of the forced caries required.
During summer this place is PURE, greens fast and firm, fairways that roll with tight mowed grass. During winter the play stays very nice but will be very soft without really any roll out. Worth the trip from Atlanta to play any time as you can’t find conditions this nice for the price.
Solid 4 star course imo. Tee boxes and fairways were great, and the greens will also be great in another month. Still a little bouncy from whenever they punched them last.
Carts were really nice. Gps, Bluetooth, etc. Clubhouse had some really cool gear for sale too.
Layout was relatively challenging. We played from the blues and there were quite a few 400+ yard par 4s and 175+ yard par 3s which is pretty long for me. might play from the whites next time and see what difference it may have made.
Solid driving range and putting area. Cart girl came around twice. Pace of play was a little slow as it took us a solid 4.5 hours, but it was a sunny and clear Sunday. So I was expecting a busy course.
There's not really an opportunity to pop into the clubhouse on the turn, which was kind of annoying. But the cart girl had hotdogs, so it worked out.
For $50 I thought it was a solid value overall.
I enjoyed playing this course. I made my reservation using an online service but I got the impression you can walk in or call for a tee time.
A majority of the holes are in pretty good shape, while a few could use some maintenance. The fairways are quite expansive and do slope and roll most of the times. You’re likely to lose a ball or two due to limited visibility if you are a first-timer here. On the plus side, regardless of where you land, you’re likely to be on a fairway given how wide they all are, except for the par-3 holes.
The course is shielded by trees all around with a few areas behind exposed to I-20, so the noise on those ends might be a little annoying.
The greens were fairly fast, with the exception of a few that seemed to be aerated at the time I played. I was disappointed that a couple of the greens had broken/messy fringes but it’s not going to kill your round in any way.
Overall, I enjoyed playing this course and I think the 30-mile drive from Atlanta was worth. I would say it’s moderate in terms of difficulty, so anyone should be fine playing here regardless of skill level.
Really interesting course that's a good challenge. They place the hazards in a way that makes going driver off every tee impractical which adds a lot variety to the play. The grass was kinda rough on some holes, but the course was far from being bad overall. Nice place.
Fantastic course in great shape. Greens well presented with pin placement that keeps you honest. Good facilities & friendly staff. I'll be back for sure......
I love this course so much I almost didn’t review it because I don’t want the secret to get out. Great people, fun layout, and you cannot beat the value. The only thing I would change/add is a second bathroom out on the course. There’s one at hole 9 but it would be nice to have another one along with a few more water stations. But the beverage cart lady is so nice I don’t care if I have to buy water.
Great course and wonderful staff
I play twice a week a love it there.
You will be impressed.
One of the nicer places to play around Douglasville. The fairways and greens are in really good shape. Definitely will play here a few more times this year.
This is one of the beat values you will find. They have done a lot of work recently and continue to improve the experience. Currently (6/18/21) this course is in the best shape I’ve personally seen. Fairways are excellent!…greens a bit sandy after recent aeration…new sand traps course wide…well manicured tee boxes. I play here regularly and this course never disappoints. Well worth the short trip outside the city for affordable golf.
Great course. Greens in great condition. Will be in my rotation of regular courses to play
The course is in good shape but we played in over 5 hours and had 4 groups on the 18th (par 3) to end it
I’ve been playing West Pines since 2006. I have played multiple other public and private courses throughout Atlanta and across the US. West Pines in my opinion is second to none in the West GA area. The greens are always in awesome shape, and the course doesn’t have the drainage issues like Mirror Lake or Chapel Hills. The course only keeps getting better and better as the years go by. Play here and you won’t be disappointed for a local, city owned course.
Greens are awesome but the course is challenging could be better
I'm a new resident in the Douglasville area. I loved the course layout. Fairways and greens were in great condition. Pro Shop and course staff were very friendly and helpful, when needed. I look forward to playing this course again soonest.
One of the best courses in the metro Area. The course is in great condition and the price is very fair compared to other so called "top notch" courses.
West Pines was in the best shape I've seen in three years playing this course. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in fantastic shape. All employees were wearing masks and observing social distancing. A great golfing experience and very challenging course!
Best course in WestGa. The staff is always working to make the course even better. Greens were aerated when we played last, but they still rolled smooth. Love this track
Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways were in good shape. Pace of play was 4 hours 20 minutes which is typical for public courses. Aesthetically course could use a slight amount of TLC. Value for the money was very good. Will definitely play the course again.
The course is a hidden gem, a diamond in fact! The greens and layout are reminiscent of The Frog, but at a much lower green fee. I was pleasantly shocked to find GPS enabled carts with Bluetooth! I started playing my jazz and went bogey, par, par! The fairways are huge with hardly any penalty for the occasional slice or snap hook! I give 5 starts - Great Bang for the Buck...
Course is in great shape, carts have GPS. Driving range is close to clubhouse and the range ball's are new. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Rates are in line with other clubs.
Very well maintained golf course. I always try to visit when I'm in town.
18 holes with a cart for $24 at twilight. Greens are good and quick and true. Fairways are pretty wide and well kept. I don't have any major complaints and it's a great deal for the price.
Another challenging course as well. Very good price for such a good course. Have great food on the weekends. Remember to purchase beverages before going out on the course. Easy drive to get there. Friendly atmosphere all around. Good place to meet others playing as well.
I've been to West Pines several times. Overall my experience has been good. I wouldn't say it's been great. They've struggled during times when it's very busy. For example, on a holiday weekend obviously very busy every water container we came to was completely empty. Also the pace of play was 20-30 minutes per hole. I'd say beware of busy weekends or times where you know it's going to be busy. But during other times it's been great. I go with my dad sometimes during the week and pace of play is good and our experience is good as well. Not a TPC quality course obviously but I've certainly played much worse courses. I think 4 stars is fair.
Best value under $40 on the weekends in the city. They keep in the greens in excellent shape and one of the big advantages to playing West Pines. A good layout with a variety of different holes and user-friendly for the average golfer
Nice course. New greens are nice. Pretty wide open. This newer course is immaculate compared to where it was say 20+ years ago. Decent rates and service. Need a better bar area....
Highly undulating course with very few level lies. Green were the best played all season, fast and true. The rains have played havoc with the sand traps. The roughs were unforgivening.
Greens were very good and the course was in great shape
The course itself was in top conditions nothing bad about the course the only problem we had was with carts not working we was stopping and going for 18 holes with the battery lights flashing and that was with a replacement after first two holes
Course was in best shape it's ever been. Greens were great and fairways had beautiful grass ever. Will be back.
I didn't golf here but my friend that I was with did and he seemed to enjoy playing on it and it seemed to be a really nice course and definitely better than the local ones we had back home in Ohio.
Really fun golf course that can be difficult if you make bad shots but it's fair. Can be played cautiously or going for it. Good greens and fairways. Typically thick rough that can be tough to get through.
Course can be fun. Unfortunately the hours aren’t up to date here on google. Google profile shows open until 7. I tried to hit a few balls at the driving range at 6:15 pm but they told me they close at 6 pm since Labor Day and wouldn’t let me hit. Frustrating to drive here to be sent away when the time they close isn’t correct online.
Very challenging. Good course for your driver game
Great course, in great shape. Tough but fun.
Layout is decent. Greens roll good, but are harder than the cart path. Don’t think they have watered it since the turn of the century.
reasonably priced for a pretty decent course! Most of the employees were very friendly except for an older man (manager maybe?) who would not acknowledge or address me but was very personable with my husband. Hmmm?
West Pines is always a great day out with the family. My children take lessons there or go to the driving range. Affordable prices and professional staff.
Really great course for an occasional 18. Greens are faster than most courses, and there is some rough holes, but I can't co.plain, it needs to be competitive
I've played this course several times a year for the past 2-3 years. Best value on the west side of Atlanta. Easy access as it is right off 20. It really can't be beat for the price.
Enjoyed my most recent visit! Just visited the driving range, to "tune up", for upcoming event! "5 STAR'S"!! Service/facility..."above Par"!!!
Awesome course, always in excellent shape, especially those signature greens. Good price too with very friendly staff and patrons.
We had a a great experience at West Pines. The greens were in very good shape. You can tell the staff has put forth the effort required.
First time playing here. It was a great course in phenomenal condition.
I have only used the driving range..I love that part so far..I stay very close and plan on playing there soon and getting a membership...
Greens were in great shape! Cart went dead on us. Played 10 holes then had to head back to the clubhouse and barely made it...
I love west pines. That’s my home course.
Course is in excellent condition. From tee boxes to greens not one bad spot.
It was ok. I went for the driving range and it was was the worst one Ive ever visited. Just not very nice or well kept. $6 for 42 balls
Great course for the price. Just renovated and it is one of the 2-3 best conditioned public courses I've seen in metro Atlanta
Very well groomed......fairways are mowed and in good condition.......the greens are fast and in excellent condition. Come out and enjoy a challenging round of golf!!!!!
Course not too crowded...good value
If only the course had a few more acres to spread out on... The layout of the hole was a little confusing, especially a par 3 on 18 the parallels the parking lot.
Tough course, soggy due to excessive rain, 1st time here and will play again, great staff and reasonable prices
Good place to go to with friends and family members who can or wish to play golf.
Best Municipal Golf course in Douglasville, tucked away in a serene setting with a wonderful and friendly staff.
Pleasantly surprised at the great conditions of this course. Greens are very well taken care of.
Very friendly staff in the pro shop, Travis and Coach Matt are top tier!!
This track is in great shape. Worth the trip if you are in the city. Most def if you are in the area. Range and staff great. Go tee it up there.
Greens were good. Nice staff. Always enjoy playing this course.
The course in good shape. They have those golf carts with the GPS on them so if you go to the wrong place it shuts down. I hate those damn things
Well maintained course. Great value
Great price for a solid course. Greens are in great condition. I would definitely play here again.
Very professional.
The course is in the best shape it's been in for years. At least they seem to be doing something with the increased Green's fees.
Course is in great shape! Staff are friendly and always helpful.
Tee boxes need some work. Greens in decent shape. Felt it was a little over priced for the shape of the course.
Very pleasant atmosphere and the course is in great shape. I love the Bermuda Greens.
Really enjoyed the course and the new golfing friends made today
I haven't tried the course yet but the practice facilities are top notch.
Not my favorite course in the area but the greens are great.
Great fireworks and food. Employees were very friendly and nice.somthing you don't usually get from people working on holiday's
I only used the driving range but the facility was excellent.
Course was very mantained. Drive range was alittle crowded but affordable to say the least.
Pace of play was slow. Cart path. Course is in good shape
Haven't played here in awhile, greens were in very nice shape. I Will be back!
Very enjoyable course....got the best lesson ever from the head pro Chris.
Course in great shape ,fastest greens I've played in Georgia area.
Course is in great shape. New greens are hard until you get used to them.
Great public course for a great price only thing it needs is some aesthetics.
First time at driving range better bring sun glasses for rising sun practice
Great course.
The green was great
Nice course but some of the greens were so bad you couldn't even tell where your divot landed.
We play it all the time. Love it. New greens are awesome.
Good greens. Great rates. Its Probably even better in the spring and summer.
I love this course. Great price and just a fun course.
