Reviews of Grove Park Country Club
A very fun and quick course if you don’t get people in front of you. Lots of walkers and with a lot of hills means a little slow play if you get stuck behind them.
The staff is pleasant and friendly.
Players generally let you go through if you’re by yourself.
There are a ton of balls in the grass bushes.. I think I left some souvenirs myself :)
A short (less than 7,000 yds) course, it has a lot of history and is relatively challenging. A great accompaniment to your stay at the Omni Grove Park Inn.
I cannot say enough about the staff, especially Parker!! She is one of the SWEETEST people I have ever had the pleasure to meet!!!
Excellent Donald Ross designed course. Shorter course but don't let that deceive you
The course itself is relatively short. Short par 5s. Sort of long par 3s. Nothing spectacular. Not much of a view. We played here while staying at the Omni Grove Park Inn for the weekend. It was $175 per player on a Saturday afternoon. Overpriced. No practice range, only one tiny green to chip and putt for warn ups. They have nets(3) that you can hit balls into for warming up. Employees at the Cabana Grill were friendly. I would NOT play here again.
Had a wonderful experience here. I golf typically once a week for reference and average 88-90 score. Fairways are a must hit with difficult rough on many holes. Greens are a challenge to read. Gorgeous views all along the way and overall the type of course that rewards good tee shots and makes you work for your score on the greens
Beautiful course and loved some of the houses on the course as well!!
Difficult and great course! If you ever get the chance to play, take it!
I went to see the gingerbread houses after the competition was over. The country club seemed nice and the gingerbread houses were outstanding!
The course itself did its share to justify Omni’s overpriced green fee. As did the staff. Former was a classic Ross experience, in excellent shape. Short but devilish. The latter were attentive and pleasant. The problem? Well for $140 pp it sure would have been nice to:
- have more than a single decrepit hitting cage with no supplied balls and a moldy, misshapen piece of carpet to hit off of
- have a putting green that ensures you will not lose your own ball while trying to get a pre-round gauge of the greens. Yep, ball rolled right off the green into waist-high overgrowth. As I searched I saw yet could not reach my ball and at least six more. Ridiculous.
- have a “locker room” facility that was not straight out of Ross’s era. Old, tainted, musty. Metal high school lockers randomly askew. Urinals that also seem to have been there since the 20’s. Yeah, I know I was there to play golf, but c’mon.
Summing up, when in the area I’d take a pass on a replay.
My wife and I played a $95 each nine holes and were disappointed at how rough the facility and course both were. The facilities were particularly poor. Not a good value in our opinion. Three stars for a cool Donald Ross layout.
Beautiful challenging course, fun to play but definitely needs better drainage. Played after rain, waded through water on the fairways. I actually ordered me a pair of Oregon Mudder waterproof golf shoes when I got home lol. Greens were well drained and beautiful. Really good deals on Golfnow hotdeals. Look forward to playing there again.
Great track and another Donald Ross gem. Cameron in the pro shop was extremely helpful and made sure it was a 5 Star experience. If you’re in Asheville and want to play, make sure you come here!
Ashevilles oldest golf course and best in bumcombe county hands down
Got there early and staff let me go off. The fairways and tee boxes were green and course isn't as hilly as you would think . I would play again.
Fun course but pricey
Visited this resort today and the place was beautiful. The service wasn't all that great and I only wonder if that was because I am African-American. However, my pockets a very deep too.
The course is in excellent shape and the greens were fast. Everyone did a great job serving our needs
Course was in excellent condition. Pretty challenging. Deep rough and a lot of elevation changes.
It was wonderful nice ppl and the food was amazing.
An great experience with awesome views. The course was in great shape, I will be back in the future.
I'm from Florida so I know a good golf course. This is beatifull and classic small but the view it's breath taking. And the hotel it's just amazing and food for kids.
Donald Ross course with a great team supporting your round. Walk, don't ride, if you can, totally worth it. Also the twilight rates are great bargains.
Great course! Well maintained. Fair test of your skills. Best views ever.
Very nice course. The staff was completely at our service.
Plan to return as soon as possible!
My rating is for the golf course. Excellent golf course but the facilities need work. Very old facilities
This place is so pretty and accommodating even if u aren't staying there it's so pretty and cool you could go (and also take the elevator up the fireplace)
I was surprised how well the course was maintained. The short game practice area is a hidden gem.
Superb course, great greens and wonderful staff. Nice extension of the hotel.
This is a must visit for the architecture. The service is very good and the food is excellent. Reviews on The Terrace are worth the trip.
Old course. Tee to green is pretty easy, Greens are tricky - fast and hidden breaks.
Excellent golf course, starter and staff very friendly, a little pricey but I was on a business trip.
Nice course, not too difficult, designed by Donald Ross. Kept in relatively good condition
This place is an Asheville landmark. One of the coolest building and estates I've ever seen. Also, some top notch restaurants.
Nice course but you pay for the atmosphere. Too expensive for the quality of course.
Perfect day for golf, awesome people and course in great shape!
Awesome.golf course n great golf day with my brother
Wonderful golf course. My son and I love playing there.
Very manageable course for all levels. Watch out for the black bears
Nice course. Rained so cart path only, not as expensive as I thought it would be.
It is a nice golf course but is way overpriced.
Turkey sightings add to the wonderful Mountain View’s on this pristine course
Absolutely beautiful views and difficult course. Friendly staff.
