Christmas time in the city! We went ice skating here around 7p on Sunday. It was a bit crowded but still thoroughly enjoyed being able to do something I don't often get to do in my town. Event was reasonably priced with skates included in your admission. The area has lots of Christmas decorations surrounding it making the night that much more magical.

Attended the 2022 Rock 'n Ribs Festival sponsored by KBER, perfect autumn afternoon, everyone was enjoying the cooler weather; lots of tasty BBQ from local trucks, rocked out to my favorite local band! It's a great venue in the heart of the city with a light rail station right at the west entrance. And best of all, clean restrooms!

Closing at midnight, we made it right at 11:00 pm as the zamboni parked right after smoothing the ice. The rink was packed with skaters of all levels! Decked in holiday decor, with music filling the air, people smiling, laughing, concentrating on their own way around the ice, and groups of friends, with their loved ones, or on their own - you can't beat the atmosphere! The ice, on the other hand, is very rough and bumpy and needs a good smoothing. Try early in the day unless you are determined to go for the lights and atmosphere. Prioritise which is most important! There are concessions available so you can warm up with a hot cocoa. Skate rentals are great! Not the worn fittings you get from most public rinks.

************* Looks like a cute place to go walk around and take some of that Christmas cheer in. They do have an outside ice skating rink also. The only trick is probably the parking. I parked in the parking garage but that can get pricey unless you get enough validations... Not sure what the alternative looks like...

Fun venue for community concerts and ice skating! The concerts are sometimes held inside and sometimes held outside, all from the versatile stage with a removable window! Smart. They hold the Excellence in the Community Concerts here!

Took family over for ice skating. Quite a busy place. You get nice decorations all around, well maintained ice rink, a lot of demand. So go there early by 6 pm. Might take about 30 min to get in front of the line and longer the later you go. Figure skating shoes for ladies and hockey skates for gents by default. You can ask for a different pair but depends on availability. It is a small area so may feel claustrophobic if a crowd is not your thing. Parked at One Utah Center Parking which is free until New Year. The rink is just above the parking lot.

We came here to ice skate. The hours listed online were wrong, but at least we beat the crowds. It's a VERY small rink and apparently no limit to the number of skaters, so VERY overcrowded. I was disappointed that they charged the same amount whether you brought your own skates or not. The rental skates' blades were pretty dull. The outdoor heaters were never turned on, so it got pretty cold. The lights and music made for a nice outdoor skating ambiance though. It all just seemed a little understaffed/unregulated.

Not too shabby of a place to hold a few concerts. Way better than being held at Pioneer park since it became the place to be for homeless people and crime. And it had good sound acoustics as well. I would definitely attend another concert here again soon. I hope they have more concerts like that before summer is over. Got a few cool pictures to go along with it as well. Might have to upload them as well. There were so many people here that I only ran into a few friends, but I'm ok with that. They might try to get more bathrooms because that line reached a quarter mile at one point. Other than that, cool place.

Awesome venue! A small outdoor oasis, surrounded by high rises. Lots of parking close by, space to walk around, and they usually bring food trucks and vendors into the arena for shows proving better prices for food and drinks. I've seen a few concerts here, I've always had a good time.

Lovely outside space, used all year round for community seasonal activities. This trip I saw a lot of Christmas/holiday decorations and an ice rink, but have seen it used for outdoor events in summer such as musical concerts etc.

This downtown Salt Lake City venue was easily accessible with surprisingly convenient parking ($5). Also, with the weather unexpectedly stormy, it turned out to be a smart choice for a reception. Indoors, but with glass walls and great views, the afternoon-to-evening segue was beautiful. Elegant spot for an event. Regretted not having time for what looked like a great ice cream spot nearby, though. : )

An event at the gallivan center is unlike anything u have experienced if u have never been to one. The energy of being downtown coupled with the energy of the music or whatever is going on doubles the intensity. I enjoyed everything about this event and I have social anxiety bad. So if there is something going on down there, go to it. I promise you will have the time of ur life.

Great place for events, good amount of room and balconies on all 4 sides for events. Parking Garage as well right underneath the place.

This is a great venue. The main stage is fair in size and boasts some great speakers. The main stage is also outdoors, with a large pavilion and grassy area. There's lots of walking space nearby with vendors, bathrooms, a water fountain, etc. It's in downtown surrounded by huge skyscrapers. One of the problems with this place is that they have to cut off the music at a certain time, I think maybe 11 pm--probably due to city noise restrictions. So I saw Diplo and he got cut off during his finale song.

Perfect place for free concerts and events. We like to walk around there during the weekend. We watched the women's soccer world cup final a few years ago on their big screen, and it was terrific. The place has great Christmas lights and there is ice skating there during the winter.

I have visited this place for Christmas it is so beautiful. Full of lights, a lot of people, families. There is an ice rink place the price is $20 for the rent of the equipment, don’t forget to take your gloves.

An extremely fun family activity tucked in among shiny buildings. We had the best weather. Sunny and not too cold. I haven’t skated since I was a kid so definitely brings back memories. I appreciate that the other guests were patient and nice. We topped it off with a nice hot cocoa. 🥤❤️

Such a fun and magical place!!! My kids had a blast! The staff was friendly and even though there was quite a big line we were helped right away and got our skates quickly. I highly recommend going! This is a must do if you’re in Salt Lake City!

This is the prettiest ice rink I’ve been to in the Salt Lake Valley. It had a fun atmosphere and good pricing. The only down side is having to pay to park, put that’s just how it is downtown. And it was quite crowded, but we still had a great time. We would definitely go there again!

Awesome little plaza in the middle of downtown. Great place to grab lunch (Pretty Bird, Robins Nest, or Pulp) and eat outside. The events done here are always well prepared. Make sure to check out the huge sun dial.

The Ramen at Kaze was delicious and they had a selection of Japanese beers and whiskeys. There was indoor and outdoor seating and a large mural on the accent wall. They have great service and good food. I would go back.

The Urban Arts festival was actually really cool. This venue worked really well for it as the staged is perfectly centered for the artists to perform and surrounding artists and activities to not stay to far from being right in the action. Live graffiti, great food trucks, and really cool booths with artists like Dallin B! Really enjoyed myself.

We saw DJ Snoopadelic aka Snoop Dogg on Sept. 6, 2018, such a great place for live music, people watching, and to enjoy being outside, in the heart of Downtown, SLC. You can find multiple Bars, restaurants and shopping within blocks of the Gallivan. Accessible by Trax form the Gallivan Station stop on Main St and 250 S.

This shopping center is really fun, specially 'cause is located in the heart of Salt Lake City downtown. You'll find lot of stores. In the night the place turns very special and quite, gold lights shining around and all looks amazing.

Kind of a small ice skating rink but the area around is very nice. There are big space heaters around the rink to warm up. Inside there are concessions which are very reasonably priced, $3 for a hot dog, $3 bucks for nachos etc...

Galivan Center is a great spot for a lot of different events downtown. Indoor and outdoor facilities multiple levels and plesant grounds make this a great spot for mid-sized events.

Beautiful area. I love this place. The only reason for the low rating is it’s not the best venue for a big concert. Sound was awesome, but it didn’t matter where we stood, there was absolutely nowhere we went that we could see the band. I’m willing to try again, but only the vip section upstairs. Which doesn’t really feel vip being put at the back upstairs to look down on the concert. LOL.

There is no outside concert more serene than my experience at the Gallivan Center. The stage was clearly visible. The acoustics were unbelievable. So I had to come back in Winter and watch the youth ice skate three months later in winter. With 'world class lighting and soft music so clear I had to try ice skating for the first time in my life. Located in downtown Salt Lake, the Gallivan Center is a good retreat if you enjoy the fresh air of outdoors without leaving inner city. This place is not only so calm in summer it is picture perfect for weddings and family gatherings. Ten yards away is the Marriot Hotel, two major European style train lines, eclectic pubs and live music night clubs, restaurants, and free public transportation. Tired of the City Rush? Bring your date here, sit down in the early evening shades and just enjoy a romantic conversation till ten. This downtown Salt Lake Park with 24-7 security is a must visit.

I love this place for the free, Excellence in the Community summer concert series that's held here! Amazing performances, classic dancing, so many fun memories for me. ❤️ The dance floor really is excellent, and it's so darn delightful when lots of people come out and dance! There's also lots of great seating, restrooms and drinking fountains, and great acoustics in my experience with the live music. The only downside is the parking being rather pricy - I prefer to park elsewhere and walk, but if $10 for a fun night doesn't phase you then by all means take advantage of the convenience!

This area used to be so fun to walk around and enjoy, but seems that it's been taken over by homeless people and drug dealers. There was hardly anyone out on a Saturday except for people who were clearly homeless and need help. Streets smelled of urine and human waste. Trash everywhere. It's really sad to see downtown deteriorating like this and people that clearly needing help have nowhere to go. Shame on the SLC mayor for turning a blind eye!

It is without question a hidden gem in Downton Salt Lake City. In the winter they have the public ice skating park and in the summer it is filled with concerts. We reserve the space in the past and held a small dance performance. Such a fun place to go visit.

The Gallivan Center it's a beautiful place. It was obviously built with intention and purpose. The configuration at the building lend itself to excellent acoustics. Both Musical and spoken word can be heard from every seat. There are no bad seats it elevate so quickly that your distance from the performance is always acceptable at least. From the first row to the highest balcony usually means the difference between good and bad seats. In the case of this structure, it's merely a different perspective of a performance. Highly recommended. Let's get the Arts rolling oh, there's some incredible Talent and pent-up energy that is there for the taking.

I like the vibe around Gallivan. The bustle. UTA has a dedicated stop there, so it's easy to access. The homeless occasionally congregate on the street, but are generally harmless.

This place is perfect for a family Christmas or Winter activity. We took our kids here over a week night and they loved the lights and music. We had fun teaching my four year old how to skate and we enjoyed the hot chocolate after. Hopefully we can make this a new family tradition. The Customer service was great and though it was busy they were very on top of everything and were able to help you quickly. Definitely a great place to have a good time.

Amazing!! I love the outdoor venue! I love they sell liquor here because, well that's normal! Every concert we have been to here has sounded amazing and was in fact amazing! Now for the venue part- all staff are well mannered and want to help. Emergency staff is ready and takes everything as serious as they could be. I feel safe and secure here. All I wished is they would do is be more accommodating to the disabled. I am disabled and standing for long periods of time is extremely painful. Most amusement parks or attractions have handicap lines, so I guess I would ask why not this venue? Other that that it was amazing!

It's a neat little park, and it's a great place to go to events. However I wouldn't really hang out here much. I always be around for when the food trucks were here, because it was cheap lunch, or I would be utilizing the parking since it's a very central location in Salt Lake City. it's just I'd never really want to hang around in the park since there's not a lot of places to sit and there are a lot of panhandlers in the area although the security does a good job in keeping them out.

Went dancing the other night with my lovely date. Got a little packed on the dance floor so we waltzed over to the grove of trees and dance the rest of the night away. It was a fun time and the music was great! Can't wait to go again. I would highly recommend this place for any date night on a Tuesday.

I walk by here everyday for work, it puts on nice events and I enjoy ice skating here in the winter time. It also puts on free jazz concerts and swing dancing during the summer sometimes which can be a great date opportunity or just a fun time if you are nearby. This is a wonderful venue

Pretty special being surrounded by downtown when enjoying a great rock band with 6000 fans. Sound was awesome. Event staff was professional and friendly. It poured rain while we were there and it was still perfect. Looking forward to another show here someday.

I always enjoy Gallivan Center. Great all-ages venue. Decent beer and food selection most events and they have a good 21+ area as well. Never been on the VIP balcony but look forward to it one day! Decent size bathrooms as well.

This is a beautiful venue. Summers are filled with song and dance; and winter brings the outdoor skating rink, Christmas lights and laughter. The only drawbacks are the lack of visibility and free parking. There is plenty of paid parking however. If you dine in the restaurant or bar at the Marriott the very gracious staff will validate parking; thus making it free.

I go ice skating here every year and it's always great. It's never overbearingly crowded and the atmosphere is awesome. It gets you in the Christmas spirit. I have also been to a couple concerts here which have been spectacular. The works were all very nice and polite.

Such a fun skating rink! Delicious hot chocolate for $2. Lots of benches inside and outside. The Christmas lights around the rink and music made it magical. Great experience. The rink was smaller than I expected, but it wasn't a problem.

Saw "Changing Lanes" the other night a Motown group. This venue also hosts other varieties of bands, quintets,etc. The center has the nickname " Salt Lake's Living Room!" Did I mention this great talent is free?

What an awesome place to go ice skating! It looks like so much fun and people are upbeat, happy and there's places to get things to eat and just visit in the outdoors. If that's your thing. I ice skated when I was younger but I just don't do it anymore. Could be fun though for a night out with your love or with family. Thanks Gallivan Center!

We rented Gallivan hall for our daughter's wedding! What a beautiful space. The staff were friendly and accommodating! Pricing was perfect! And as an extra plus the Christmas lights were on and ice skating in the background. What a magical experience! Thank you

The Gallivan Center is a pretty interesting area of Salt Lake. It says if it was built to be a lot more of a main attraction than it actually was. It's kind of a shame walking through it because it's actually quite beautiful but it's only ever really used for festivals in the summer and the ice rink in the winter. It's not a bad place to park if you're going elsewhere though lol

Took my family to go ice skating on New Years eve. It is such a cool place to go,surrounded by huge tall buildings,out doors, the venue is also super cool to see concerts in the summer. They have ice skates for rent and snacks, hot chocolate. Cool spot.

The only ice scaring rink I like to go to in the city because it’s out doors and lite up with so many beautiful lights! Such a great location down town as you can go jump on track for free one or two stops and be at the mall and temple square to go see more lights! They play music nice and loud and you can dance while scaring it’s a truly magical experience for the whole family. I’ve been living this place since I was a teen when it first opened. I’d go during school days when there was no one there and they’d play my own cds I wanted to go dance on the ice too! Not sure if they will still do that but that was crazy cool!

This place is beautiful! The heart of the city and it's got all the shops around it with the mall in walking distance. Great place to take someone on a date if there's an event and everything is within walking distance, definitely recommend hitting up Pretty Bird for your chicken sandwich!

I love that there is a community area with such fun events! I recently took my wife and kids to one of the live Jazz Band evenings. There was great music and dancing! We ordered Thai food from a nearby restaurant and ate it at one of the tables while we enjoyed live music and then danced afterwards.

I took my son to his first concert here, Q-tip, when he was about 1 years old. I hope they continue doing more controlled, low cost shows here. Great for the community.

This is a very nice place to go to at night around the holidays. My wife and I spent the evening here, and there was plenty to do. We've been during the day (also around the holidays) and the ice skating seems pretty fun. There can be crowds especially on weekends, and riding the public transportation (UTA Trax) is going to be more convenient, especially on weekends.

Cool place in Salt lake City. We went ice skating and it was super fun. The skating fee was 9.00 for adults they did have skates for kids but no walkers to help them. The rink was a little crowded but not overwhelming. Was a fun date night out.

First night in salt lake City and we wanted to ice skate. I'm so glad we picked this place. There wasnt a huge crowd on a Thursday night and the price was not expensive whatsoever. The skates were newer. The only thing I would suggest is extra cubby space to put your shoes while you're skating instead of having to buy a locker. Other than that, I had a blast. Loved the lights and they even had ice skating guides to help you learn some new tricks or help you up if you fall. Great time!

I Went ice skating on the ice rink and it was awesome. You can rent skates on Tuesdays for $5. They close at 9 which is a little early in my opinion. You don't have to wait at all for your skates and. They will happily give you new ones if the initial skates have any issues or are the wrong size. Their is always one employee on the ice who will help you or answer any questions you have.

Walk through here almost every day, and the place is kept up very well! The grass is awesome... pickleball courts... ice skating in the winter time can get pretty packed though. Haven't really dealt with any particular employee there, but all of em that hang around the grounds, seem to be cordial enough.

Great venue for concerts. We were attending the Utah Blues Featival at the Gallivan Center. Parking was easy, parked under the center and take the elevator to street level. Bathrooms are clean and always full of the necessary products. Grass is perfect for sitting and as the sun goes behind the near buildings, the shade hits the grass, cooling off that area. I dont think there is a bad seat in the venue.

Clean and well kept. I've attended weddings and I e skated here sever times. The ice skating is fun although it is a small rink and is usually extremely crowded during high traffic times. The high traffic can be annoying but if you don't mind the cut up ice and crowd of people then the outdoor downtown experience may be worth it to you.

Open air venue that in the summer hosts smaller concerts, retail shows, art shows and other similar events. During the winter months it is the location of the only downtown ice skating rink. Personally I enjoy the outdoors movie nights in the summer and have been multiple times as they are free of charge and are great for families. Just bring a blanket and snacks. Would be ideal area for a picnic or just a great place to enjoy an afternoon walk. Right by the Trax station and behind the Downtown Marriott.

Not sure if it's like that all the time, but to see two different sets of people smoking weed in the bushes in the middle of the afternoon is a bit odd for down town SLC. This place has a great location in downtown Salt Lake City. In the winter you can do outside ice skating and there are food trucks at lunchtime for those that work downtown. Also in so her they put up lights and the atmosphere is pretty chill and inviting.

The Gallivan Center is a great location for outdoor concerts. It's small enough that only people who are truly interested in the event show up, but open so that you aren't overwhelmed. The grounds and bathrooms are well maintained. It's right next to a Trax station so you don't have to drive if you don't want to.

This is great venue for concerts - there's plenty of space and the sound is always great. There are usually some food trucks/food vendors there with good food. The reason for the 3 stars is because the vendors/bands are amazing to experience down there, but whoever is in charge of running the show makes it nearly impossible to enjoy yourself. First of all, gates opened at 5:30 and they also had the 1st band start right at 5:30 so hundreds of people who were lined up around the block missed the first band while they waited in a mile long line to get in the one entrance they had open. If they were going to start the first band right at 5:30, they should have opened the doors earlier. Then once you got inside, after the 1st band was completely done playing, in order to get a beer you had to stand in 3 different lines. One line to get a wristband, another line to buy beer tickets since the beer stands wouldn't take cash, and a 3rd line to actually get your beer. Then, if you got too many beer tickets and didn't drink that many beers, you're out your money and also if you wanted another beer and didn't have a ticket, you go back and wait in line again to get more beer tickets, and then the beer line. There's got to be a better way to do this, it's ridiculous. I don't know that I'll go to another show at the Gallivan Center after this experience. I do like food truck Thursdays and other events they hold there, but if this is how concerts go, I won't be returning for that.

Great place and cool Venue. I saw Young the Giant. You get to be fairly close to the bands and despite it's appearance, it holds a lot of people. There was a lot of alcohol, which is not my thing but nothing in your face. I would go to another event here.

Went to their "Skate with your Sweetheart" event and had a blast! There was a food truck, an awesome DJ, and a candy bar sponsored by Google Fiber. Getting our skates was easy and fast and we were happy there were lockers available ($0.50) to store our shoes and belongings.

The Twilight Concert series here is incredible. It’s such a great privilege to see big artists perform here for around ten dollars. I’ve seen Vince Staples, Grouplove, and Neon Trees perform here. Be careful as the crowds can be a bit wild, especially at hip hop shows, but you’ll have a great time as long as you’re careful.

Love the Gallivan center. Seems like something wonderful is always happening here. In the winter there is no better place to go ice skating. They have lights on all the trees and music playing. It is impossible to not have a good time. You can get hot coco and stand by the fire if ice skating isn't your activity of choice. In the summer the concerts and festivals are great. Lots of parking on the block surrounding the Gallivan center.

I go to the Weekday Workouts which are done Monday thru Thursday. Yoga is Monday & Wednesday while Boot Camp is Tuesday & Thursdays. These classes are free from June to the middle of August and the teachers are from the U of U. The location is on grass under shade. This makes it tolerable with the high temperatures AND the teachers do a great job. And a nice change with doing it outside.

Not only does this plaza have historical history from the 2002 winter Olympics it has hosted some pretty famous musicians. Adele, Snoop, and many others! Fairs and festivals for all different events, Disney Days, Urban Festival are a couple examples. During the winter months it offers ice skating under twinkly lights. Thursdays is food truck day.

My husband and I went to a concert (Young the Giant) here, the staff was friendly, and the concert was amazing! There was a big line to get in, but the staff moved the line along very quickly, and we didn't wait very long to get in.

It's the Gallivan Center. It's a big open area smack dab in the middle of Salt Lake. There's just recently new restaurants and bars that are worth visiting here. During the winter there's an ice rink. And during the summer, tons of events from concerts, food festivals, Salt Lake Artis Festival, Gay Pride Festival. Most things that are happening, if you don't know where they take place. you can probably park near here and you'll find it's popping off at the Gallivan Center. It's right off of Main Street so you can easily take Trax to and from here, and right outside of Gallivan is a huge selection of restaurants and bars. I think this can be considered the epicenter of Salt Lake for the non-Temple going crowd.

On weekend nights it is usually pretty crowded, but the lights the music all make up for it. Usually they have fires and standing heaters around to keep you warm if you don't want to skate or if you are taking a break. They sell hot coco, pretzels, and other snacks, and even sometimes there is a pizza truck next to the rink you can order freshly baked pizza from. If you are staying at the Marriott it is in the prime location! That is usually what we do, I take a family trip, everyone stays at the Marriott, we go skating at the gallivan center, see the lights on Temple Square, and stop for some Starbucks on our way back to the hotel where we can go soak in the hot tub, play cards, and you have a great view of the gallivan center right out the window! Anyways, the gallivan center is so much fun! And it is right by alot of things you could do to make it a whole day or just a fun evening.

You enter the underground parking facility blocks away and come above ground by the Gallivan center or by walking back through the cars. It can be very difficult to find your place again. Security at Galvin center is exceptional when I was living on the sidewalk for 4 years in a row until 2014 security made sure nobody no homeless people slept anywhere near gallivan center but because security new I was a damn good person unusual they would take me to a spot on the gallivan center property and say go ahead and lay down here for an hour and then I'm going to come over and wake you up and have you moved to a different spot. 75% of humans that walk on Galvin center property usually have their noses pointed in the air those are the type of people I selling homeless person enjoy interacting with those with nose in the air.
