My family had an absolutely amazing time this year! My husband and I had been a few years back and were stoked getting to make it this year! Definitely didn't disappoint years later! They even have a kids section which was awesome for our daughter! And even if you aren't a need and into comics or anime it is an awesome place just to people watch and see the amazing costumes people make! Everyone there was in great spirits and super nice. I don't think we ran into one grumpy or rude person. Which is saying a lot because there was so many people there!

I have loved FanX for a long time but they need a few changes to keep up, just some general organization and communication issues. Announcements and schedule releases on the website were very delayed.
I'd love to see more diversity in the items being sold by vendors--more niches filled! There was a lot of great stuff but really only for mainstream fandoms. This year also didn't have as many high-profile guests. But the attendees are always impressive and went all out!
Lines for food were not bad, though seating was limited. However, I brought my own food so I could spend more money on other stuff. I highly recommend Will Bills soda if they come back next year! A true highlight of the weekend.
Shopping, panels, and photo ops are the bulk of what's offered, but some more interactive features would be cool. Maybe themed lounge areas, more table top games or tournaments, photo backdrops, decorations/installations, etc. And more signage or paper programs to help with navigation and promoting panels or activities people don't know about! The website was so overloaded, I couldn't look up the schedule.
The Salt Palace is in real need of some updates (broken elevators and escalators, ripped carpeting), but this isn't a review of the venue. Public transportation to this venue is great though.
Sarah Stapley
We love going to comic con fanx so much! I've been going for years and it just gets better every year! My husband and I love the vendor floor, all the different panels, and activities available. They even have a kid area that's full of fun things.
Edit/update:
The only suggestion I have is to PLEASE PLEASE put Brandon Sanderson in the Grand ballroom for his panel. There were so many people that had to be turned away and even though they had been waiting for a long time and we were in one of the largest rooms. He is a huge celebrity, especially in Utah and people would like to be there.

Next year (2024) will be their 10th anniversary. I recommend to go. If you're interested in booths, to purchase art, books, etc. I recommend to attend Thursday, before those that attend the con for photo ops, signatures and cosplay attend.
It's a great convention for all sorts of fans.
They also cater to families with kids. There's a kid con corner where they have activities for the little ones.
Bring your own food. The convention doesn't offer great choices and it's overpriced. You can exit the Con and go across the street to the food court at the mall, or stop at one of the various food trucks.
Julie Dole
This event can be really fun! You get to see a lot of creative costumes and talented individuals.
I have always gotten the multi-day passes for my family and I, but have found my favorite day is Saturday which closes with a couple hour Cosplay show where you get to see the best of the best costumes from novice to expert, including groups.
Unfortunately, the vendor floor is often too crowded to really enjoy and many participants fail to notice they are cutting off and running into those of us who are paying attention.
It's a must to experience at least once in your life, whether you dress up or not.
Jaymii Bonadurer
I mean, what isn't there to love? The environment is fantastic and the volunteers do everything possible to keep everyone safe and comfortable. The space is perfect, and everything is well organized. The events and panelists are exactly who people want to see as well. I always wish they had more anime panels, and I'd recommend going to every one of Aaron Yeager's panels. Overall it's a fantastic time.
Anna Larson
It was fun. It's a big place and there were a lot of new vendors but also a lot of the ones that come every time. I didn't get any photo ops and the pricing of stuff ranges to a little expensive to really expensive, depending on what you are buying. They were also really strict about mask wearing
ltony30tl
One of the best con experience I ever had. One of the biggest if not the biggest con I ever attended. Huge venue lots of things to see and more organized than other cons. I been to anime expo and other conventions and this was definitely the best.
Jaxon Nix
Such a fun thing to go and experience! Highly recommend! So many fun panels to sit in on and cool art and trickets to buy! The displays are also incredible!
Bill Brown
Absolutely amazing! Pop Culture and Media expo dream come true!
Really packed, but it was worth putting up with the crowds!
Jack Odenthal
Absolutely amazing and tons of fun! The Vendors were selling really cool stuff, like posters, cosplay armor and trinkets. There were some amazing cosplayers as well! I'm definitely going next year!!!
Jessica Pettey
This is the one thing I look forward to every year! I love the art booths and the cosplay that people create are stunning and spectacular. Getting to meet actors and actresses that I've longed to meet has been an incredible experience and the panels they do show how truly amazing they are. If you haven't been I highly suggest experiencing it!
Jesika Carter
This year was pretty good! There were not really any celebrities that I wanted to see which is fine. There was a good variety of vendors. My main issue with this con is the food and seating problems. We can never find a place to sit and eat I wish there was a bigger place to designate for that.
Trae Clark
While Saturday was a little intense with the massive crowd of people, all three days were super enjoyable and well worth taking the time off of work for.
Incredible cosplays, super talented artists, and great vendors. My only regret is missing some panels, but that's only because I was having so much fun elsewhere.
Katie Hunsaker
I always have a good time and this year is no exception.
Just a couple of suggestions for improvement. Brandon Sanderson needs to be in the Grand Ballroom.
Thursday morning early entry should have been allowed to disperse throughout the building prior to 1 pm especially if they were interested in a panel. In previous years, we were allowed to head to the area of our panel prior to start time. I liked how on Saturday early entry was 30 minutes prior to panels starting and we didn't have to wait in an overcrowded area until start time.
I haven't been in a few years but I liked it better when the entrance to the grand ballroom was on the opposite side. This year there was a lot of bottlenecking around the escalators and elevators due to lots of people trying to get to all 3 things (ballroom entrance line, elevator, escalator).
Christina King
FanX in Salt Lake honestly does a FANTASTIC job of putting on a Comic convention. I have looked at other conventions across the country and the celebrities and am completely impressed by the number of legit celebrities that come to this convention each year! The state is FULL of amazing talent so there are artists, authors, and retail establishments that completely fill that convention center with amazing material. The panels are awesome and entertaining and the whole experience is just downright fun!
Brandon S
We had a lot of fun at Fan X this year. Tons of great actors and actresses were there, not to mention the artists and all the booths with merchandise. Though the kids loved it, there is definitely a lot of line waiting and it wore them out pretty quick.
Sarah Barnes
I've been going to fanx for years. It's always a fun experience. I suggest knowing what you would like to do ahead of time some lines for guests can be very long. But it's also a fun experience to walk around and shop! If your worried about the masses go on Thursday or earlier in the mornings.
Katrina Bagnell
Overall this was a really fun event. There were a lot of great panels and a wide variety of vendors to fit most every fandom there is. One down side was there seemed to be a lack of organization and planning. The FanX Bash started an hour late because they didn't have wrist bands to identify non-drinkers. The venue was literally less than a five minute walk from the Salt Palace. The line placements and the check in stations seemed a lot less organized than past events. Over-all it was still a really fun experience and I will definitely be attending again.
Nick Smith
Amazing time! Kids had fun. Lots of things to collect. Attending the panels was a blast.
Raven Fall
Crazy crowded this year! I attended all three days and still didn't get to see everything. I still had a fantastic time though (: I LOVE FanX, so it was worth it. Until next year! Can't wait!
Madara U 143
that is best amazing in the Con!! i really love it .. So, this year on Sept 22 to 24 2002, it is big thrill to go back the Con again!! i m very exciting on way !..
But i need to know what time to open and closed the Con for full the weekend? i was wondering ... Hope they will be happy with amazing the cosplay from Marvel, DC , Amine , and Disney characters . I will take picture it and have fun !.. Be Safe yourself, SMILE!!
Dan Lower
Best one yet! Also the busiest. New layout for vendors and artists helped a lot.
LeElla Call
Last time (6years ago) I went to Fan-X it was impressive. This year was amazing. I am so glad we went. It was fun and entertaining to see all the cosplayers get all dressed up
Mikel Gray
This was a blast with lots of vendors and awesome people and the way it was set up was amazing.
Chris Carroll
It was some awesome fun times! A great and very packed with people cosplay and art!
Sabrina Bredthauer
The building was nice and cool this year, so much better than it being hot. The information booths were very helpful and answered questions. We enjoy going to FanX so much and the children love the quieter kidcon inside also.
Joseph Carrier
Oh this event is a lot of fun. Shake hands with celebrities and if you can afford it get a picture and autograph with them too. I love getting that special soda from Wild Bill's as I walk around and check out the vendors and see the devoted fans who cosplay as their favorite characters. There's some really good talent and they make some really good costumes. Come sit down and join the fun with trivia based on your knowledge of entertaining media. I especially enjoy going to the Twisted Toons panel where vioce talents do skits and tell old stories with a twist doing multiple impersonations for the characters whose scripts they read from. It's a blast.
James Thompson
I’ve been a panelist at FanX for 8 years and I am still just as amazed and excited to go to the Salt Palace to attend FanX as I was the first year I got to go.
Oddly enough, while I don’t normally dig crowded spaces, I love seeing the crowds at FanX. And the crowds were huge this year. I love seeing the groups of people in costume who share my geek energy!
It’s only been a week and I’m already looking forward to next year.
Thanks to the FanX staff and volunteers, who pulled off a great show!
Until 2023.
Polar
FanX is so much fun. They offer a wide variety of vendors that can suit you needs. Also, cosplaying and seeing all of the other cosplayers is always so much fun. They make sure that you have no weapon at the door to ensure everyone's safety.
Jeremy Moss
We've attended all the SLC Comicon / FanX cons and they're always great.
The setting leaves something to be desired, but it's by far better than all the other Conventions I've attended in other states.
Gible Rider
Amazing fun, great people, awesome experience!
Quincie Parker
It was SOOOO much fun. Me and my dad have gone the past 4 years now and plan to go every year after. My sister came with us this past year and she liked it too. She isn't as much as a "nerd" as me and my dad are but it just shows that there is stuff for everyone here. The panels are great, there is always cool booths selling such amazing things, talented artists, popular authors and actors. I look forward to it every year. It is one of my favorite things to go to ever!
Miss_Drama
First time to a comic con and this place was amazing! The setup was fairly easy to navigate through this huge building, very fun panels. Got to see Tom Holland wooo! Definitely will be going again, I highly recommend.
James Nixon
Plan on attending every year...great event once again in 2022. Lots of fans in amazing costumes...good family fun
Brannon Murphy
Always a great time. I liked all the vendors selling gaming dice. The selection was excellent. I always come away with a piece of art or two and this trip didn’t disappoint. Keep up the great work!
Serenity Vaughn
FanX is always an amazing convention. We've attended as Artists for the past 5 years. We are always taken care of by the staff and we consider our fans of SLC like family. Wonderful people, vendors, panels and Celebs. We do 35+ conventions a year and this one is top notch and one of our favorites to do. The pricing is competitive and the interaction between staff and attendees and vendors alike is like no other. They care about their attendees and it shows. We will continue to come back every year.
Dan Herrera
Lots to see here. From superheroes, anime, sci-fi, fantasy and much more! Remember, you're NEVER too.........well. Everyone's always welcome!
Also if you'd had large selection of (alcoholic) drinks that would be great. But thanks to Utah stringent liquor laws.
Michael Parker
It was busy! The staff and volunteers were very polite and handled it with grace. There were so many venders, and the panels were very informative for beginners.
Spencer Knowlton
Fan-x is a great time. They have some fantastic panels. I highly recommend looking at the list and attending at least one.
The artist at the con are amazing. I spent hours just looking at each and every booth.
But the best thing about fan-x is all the amazing like minded people that you get to meet.
Daniel Wahe
It's amazing. I highly recommend going at least once a year. The event in the Spring is geared towards fans of TV, Movies, Pop Culture, Comic Books, and all Fandoms. The Fall Event is more geared toward the Comic Book side but is still super inclusive of all fandoms.
The prices are very reasonable. Although some of the vendors can get a little pricey it's well worth it and the artists are always friendly and nice and have quality work for sale.
Make sure you bring a camera to capture people cosplaying just ask before you take a picture it'll be more than happy to pose for you.
matthew hitchcock
A great family atmosphere. Great list of guests, with lots of panels with question and answers periods from some of Hollywoods biggest stars. Wonderful cosplay community with people there that help you with ideas on how to make costumes. The event also has a vibrant community of artists !
Sara Evans
Had a lot of fun. Even though there were a few hiccups, overall, had a great time making new friends and enjoying the awesome costumes and creativity.
This was my 2nd time to attend. It continues to get better.
Bruce Miller
Sssooooo much fun. My wife and I go every year. Everybody should go at least once so you can have the experience. My wife and I even dress up. I don't understand why some people think its dorky to dress up but yet they think its fine to celebrate their favorite sports teams and wear their teams colors and decorate their house in their teams memorabilia. Its the same thing. Anyway hear is some pics from SLCC or FanX as they are called now.
Kaitlen Beauchamp
Had so much fun. Everyone was amazing. The event staff were all super helpful. I will absolutely be going every year!
Eva
Super Off Topic But I Was Working A Late Night Shift, And These 2 Guys Came In And Had Mentioned How They Both Had Just Gotten Back From FanX And They Decided To Try This Place Out, And We Chatted About It, And I Missed The Whole Thing That Day (Friday) Because Of Work, However, They Wished Me Best Of Luck For Next Year To Go, AND NOT TO MENTION GAVE ME A WRISTBAND TO GO ON SATURDAY WITH THEIR 3 DAY PASS THING AND IT WORKED!! I love them so much, super friendly too, but anyways, FanX was definetly worth it to go and I had a ton of fun, I sort of wish there was more seating and some better booths that weren't just reselling things, but I overall it was great, thank you FanX and random strangers who gave me a free pass 웃♡웃
Mignon Mansell
I love FanX & will still continue to come every year. But, the Salt Palace is not at all ADA friendly. There is ONE single elevator in the main lobby and then a second one clear on the west side, a good 10 min walk/ride when there agrees crowds. And of course the main elevator broke down in the middle of FanX. This is such a flawed design, I don't even know how it was approved in the initial planning stages. I understand that you can't control it an elevator is going to break down but there really should be a second elevator in the main lobby. Wheelchair users have no other options. I would really support efforts to remedy this.
Eric Blue
I love going to fanx even if i go the third day with no money i find very cool things ive gone almost every year hoping to see some celebs great experience every time i go and lots of fun people great way to make and meet new friends
Christina Lynn Schneider
This is my second year attending Salt Lake Comic Con, and once again I am absolutely blown away by how nice everyone on staff is, and how eager and excited they are to make sure everyone has an excellent experience. I have used ADA passes both times; I have a mood disorder with extreme anxiety, and this year I am freshly out of the hospital for a serious illness that has left me with all sorts of restrictions. When you have an invisible illness (or two, in this case), it's often difficult and sometimes humiliating to ask for help. But every single SLCC staff member and volunteer I have come across has been thorough and enthusiastic in doing everything they can to provide me the help I need. I am also so impressed by the caliber of celebrity that visit SLCC, since it is smaller than, say, the conventions in San Diego and Atlanta. The largest conventions draw the biggest stars, but they're also logistical nightmares with endless waiting and no guarantee you'll get into the panels or photo ops you want, or that you'll be able to buy the merchandise you're after before it sells out. SLCC is exactly the right size. It's big enough to draw major celebrities, but it's small enough that you spend more time actually experiencing the things you came to do and see than waiting in line for them. Salt Lake Comic Con is a wonderful experience with stellar stars you can freely engage with, and an absolutely incredible staff totally invested in ensuring that you have a wonderful time.
ETA: I have been using the Salt Lake Comic Con app for the first time this year, and I love it. It is amazingly helpful, and makes everything even easier.
Kevin Tucker
Sooooo many vendors. Amazing guests and some truly great panels. The Doctor Horrible experience at the close just puts the cherry on top.
Josh Ledbetter
Do you like movies? TV shows? Comics? Anime? How bout Disney stuff? Theyve got it alllllllll. Best bet is to buy a 3 day pass, that way you can see "most" everything. Amazing panels! Sweet Fan art! And Cosplay EVERYWHERE! Dont be afraid to do your thang. Be the princess... Or Mario. Or mix up both! Either way cosplay up! See ya next year!
Tommy Rowe
Fun times. Love the panels, booths, costumes, all of it! The people are friendly and great, and it's just got be with people that share the same passion in all that is geekness.
Joshua Moore (RealJoshie)
Overall, I really liked it. The only thing I didn't like about it is the fact that everything on the vendor floor was all over the place. In the future, I would like to see all of the categories in one dedicated area. Overall, not bad. Great, even.
Marko Santiago
It was so awesome to see the time and effort people put into their costumes can't wait till next year if u never been I recommend it
Cheryl Sneddon
Crowded but fun. Cosplay panels awesome!
Holley Carranza
So Fun!!! So many things to see and people to meet.
G Force
Fan X was great, lots of activities.
Andrew Redd
See the celebrities. Local artists and authors. Vendors galore. This year Minifigures were a big thing at the vendors. KidCon was good for my 8 year old though I think is was gear for a little younger.
Travis Hoyt
Very impressed by the event and venue staff. The participants and panelists were great. Truly a well organized event with excellent artists and vendors.
Dionysus Gross
Myself and my family love FanX, being a parent to young children I spend most of my time at Kidcon and I really love that they have a place for young children to be safe and enjoy themselves
Thomas Wells
This is an event that I base the year around. As an avid cosplayer it's a really good environment and there will
Always be something there for anyone no matter the age.
Steffanie Pond
It is so big, but also amazing. You can meet some of your favorite celebrities, or by comics. There are huge variety of vendors there I highly recommend this for people who may have gone before, and also those who've never been.
Aaron Christensen
FanX is one of the best conventions out there. They bring in some of the biggest names in entertainment. They try to have a great mix of authors and artists.
Chris Ponton
I had a good time there. I was one of the vendors and did well with my group. I saw a ton of great costumes but only captured a few.
Seth Ellison
Awesome event. First time attending FanX and was not disappointed. Can't wait for Saturday and Sunday
Brooke
As always it was an amazing experience!! Can't wait for next year!
Martin Torres
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. The cosplayers were great, booths were friendly and had a lot of product. Great place to geekout!
Show Traveler
Always a great time! Well organized with many great guests, vendors and activities. Great place for all ages to get thier geek on!!
Star Bright
OMG!!! best experience ever I got to meet amazing Celebrities and even got to participate in Fan X Karaoke please bring this back next year it was awesome!!!
Amanda Lane
We love going to FanX. It's a good time, the guests are great, and it's a fantastic way to come together with people of common interests.
Bryan Spaulding
great as usual. a large selection of vendors and great panel setup. cannot wait for next year!
Mickey
Its a fun con to go to, but definitely going for the guests. Vendors floor tends to have a lot of booths selling the same things but its a great vendor hall and artist alley. The celebrity panels are good but any other tends to be really hit or miss. This is a VERY crowded convention and highly recommend picking up your badge the day before or get in line early because that line can get 2+ hours long. Well run for how large the convention is and tends to have really friendly people and staff.
Utah BAM
I love FanX! So much to see and do. The cosplays (mine is the Lego Ninja in my picture) are awesome, and the people there are always so nice about asking for pictures before jumping in. KidCon deserves a special shout-out for being a quieter more relaxed place for parents to take their overwhelmed kids. 😁 …
Josh Leigh
I’ve attended FanX for the past two years with my brother-in-laws and it is simply so much fun!
Walter Glauser
Most nerdy fun I've had geeking out in years. Will definitely go again next year!
Mindforce
Fan X is one of my favorite times of the year and getting to the Salt Palace is easy with how close it is to both Trax and City Creek.
#SUICIDE SQUAD
So much fun!!! Lots of things to do and see. Great people to meet.
Bruce Walton
FanX is always amazing. We had not gone in a few years but as always, they put on a great show.
Kendra B (Kendraaleigh)
I love this convention. This is my 5th year going and it never fails to impress. The art selection is great, the celebrities are awesome, and it's just fun to hang out with nerdy friends. Definitely a must see if you can make it!
Christina Guzman
Finally agreed to go with my boys this year. I was not disappointed. Great fun!
Larry Lusk
I've been going since the very first one and it's only getting bigger.
CLSH
Always a big party. We love going and checking out the costumes and the panels. So fun.
Savannah Evenhuis
I look forward to this every year I'm the rose quartz it's my favorite event every year!!!!
Ace Camacho
Tons of fun! Nerdum of all sorts and cool cosplay. Mt daughter and I rented a car and drove from Idaho. Way worth the trip.
Michael Montague
Great venue, well organized, my only complaint is there was no vintage comic dealers
Jeff Maroney
My family loves the Salt Lake FanX event formerly known as Salt Lake Comic Con. This year you could tell they scaled back a little bit. Most noticeably by removing the old school arcade that my family plays every year. Big disappointment.
Lynn Willis
It is always a lot of fun coming to FanX! The celebrities are great, but I come for the people!
Megan Browning
I love a good comic con anyway, but fanX (or whatever they finally name it) is great. It's close to me, but doesn't compromise on the program. I saw Brent Spiner, David Tennant, and best of all JEFF EFFING GOLDBLUM!
However, I found Friday was much better for visiting the vendor floor. Saturday is so crowded it is like you have to flow into a river of people and there's little control in where you end up it is so crowded. Buying anything took a good 30 min.
Also, there was a room called kidcon with kid activities. However, it was devoid of "in-charge" people (except the utah-STEM group table. They were cool.). That meant everything was chaotic. Either kids that were not taught how to take turns were entirely unattended and took over every activity, or parents in the process of raising super entitled kids encouraged them not to give other kids turns even with a line of 20 behind them.
TL:DR? Go on Friday, not saturday. And don't bother with the kidcon room. There are cooler things for kids to do there.
Peter Johnson
I was part of the Vendor Booths for Evermore this year. FanX was a blast as always!
Twi Light
Amazing time, very nice atmosphere great people everywhere I will be returning next year
Tom Miller
Take the time to come to meet your favorite celebrities by coming for the day. Lots of cool stuff also to purchase.
Paul Kipping
No review is necessary. You know what this is and you want to go.
Randi modin
Second time I've taken my kids here and it's awesome. Friendly, nerdy, geeky goodness.
Sean Simkins
The first time I went back when it was still comic con, there were a lot more interactive displays and photo ops. Now, as of 2021, it's nothing but booths all selling the same assortment of about 10 things. Everywhere. Which can be fun for a lot of people. I just really missed the actual fan experience this time around.. only had a shopping experience.
Gary Short
Lots of great exhibits and good mask compliance. Neat pop stars available for signatures and interaction. I felt sorry for some of the less popular stars. The prices were a bit high so I think that lowering prices would really increase traffic to their booths. Food choices were very limited. I liked seeing all the innovation in products. Cosplay was quite good. I wish I had taken advantage of panels.
Claire Valene Bagley Hayes
Please put Brandon Sanderson panel in the ballroom next year! A TON of people in line for the panel were shut out from that experience.
Christina Hall
So much fun. Definitely busy. But it was a good experience.
Aaron Woolley
Huge. Crowded, just as an Expo should be.
Parking was terrible and difficult to find a spot.
Superman
I would give it 5 stars for the people watching alone! But I was also very impressed with how well organized everything was, and how quickly the lines in moved. COVID has us used to long queues and a lot of standing around waiting, luckily that wasn't the case here. We waited in line for just a few minutes, then we were inside looking at all the great vendors and amazing costumes!
Rafa Castro
Always fun to go! :)
Tom Quinley
Lots of fun lots to see and lots of stuff to buy. I plan on going again next year!!
Austin Clark
This was a ton of fun to attend and see all the amazing art work and projects our local community creates!
Angela Adams
I've made it to every convention since 2018 and have loved it every time.
M Giovo
Amazing and wonderful! Such a fun experience, everyone has to do it at least once. There is something for everyone, most interests seem to be covered well, especially the people watching hobby.
Darin Henecke
What an abundance of people, costumes, and random items to see! Having a great time at the Salt Lake City Comic Con!
Charlene Mclaughlin
I had a wonderful time. Everyone from vendors to event staff were very friendly
Andrew Bell
It was a fun experience. Especially seeing everyone's costumes! :)
Grumpy_ShihTzu
I've been going to FanX for years. It's always a fun time. I mostly go for the vendors & Twisted Toonz.
Becky Darling
Another great year. Excited to read all my new novels.
Goofy Goofy
FanX was awesome!!! Kids 10 yrs old and younger are FREE!!!
I love that it has a kidcon area for them to explore, play and have fun.
If you park at the city center parking lot across the street or up a couple blocks. Fees: 1st hour is free and then it’s $2 each additional hour.
Just know you’re probably going to be there all for several hours to all day, so if you find event parking for like 10 bucks…park there!
Bridgett Hall
We love FanX and have attended every year. I wish rules were enforced better, especially with the concerns this year, but I know there are a lot of people to manage and not enough volunteers to manage them. Otherwise, we love the celebrities and Artist Alley!
Bruce Ewald
Lots of fun. This was our first year and I hope to go back next year.
Christopher Brown
Wonderful experience, learned a lot from the panelists, enjoyed the entertainment on the vendor floor.
Could have been better organized. Recommend placing signage to be viewed over the crowds and the use of crowd control stanchions to manage traffic flow. Every intersection became a choke piont.
Skyler Moreno
The best place to get out and cosplay, they have so many items for sale. I would be surprised if you didnt find something you like. The best day to go is Saturday because of the deals! I had so much fun this year, I'm definently going back next year!
Shauntell Holm
Always such a blast!! Favorite parts are the vendors, panels and all the incredibly talented cosplayers! And this year was the BEST ever!!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for getting Peter Cullen and Frank Welker to visit us!! I was soooooooo on cloud nine all weekend. I missed a lot of panels waiting in line for autographs and photo ops, but that was an acceptable trade off this year. Honestly THANK YOU!! I crying when the news came out. So many of us sooo needed this mini vacation. I wish it could have lasted longer and that there was a way to send Peter and Frank a heart felt thank you letter. I soooooooo needed that!!!
Scott Hogge
A great time. Great costumes and cosplay. Get ready for the sticker shock.
Darryl Hardin
We are sadly missing it this year but we have absolutely loved the years we made it.
TSC
If you enjoy cosplay, comic conventions and the like, you will LOVE SLC’s FanX production. It comes every year, usually around Labor Day or thereabouts and sometimes also earlier in the year, like around February/March. FanX is held in the old Salt Palace in downtown SLC. Likely 100k+ people visit the convention each year. They have things to buy, contests, shows, discussion panels with celebrities and more. Highly recommended you bring a lot of cash, an extra battery for your cell phone or a wall AC charger (there are some random outlets in areas you can sit on the floor to charge your devices), a water bottle (empty-outside food and drink not allowed), really comfy clothes/walking shoes (there’s a ton of walking) and maybe some OTC pain relievers in case your feet or back start to hurt from all the standing and walking. It’s well worth the price of admission, and you’ll definitely want to buy an all-weekend pass because each day some panels are different. Go! You’ll have a blast :)
Cynthia Parkhouse
Oh my goodness, FanX is so much fun, there is something for every type of nerd-dom. We've had some amazing celebrities that have been kind enough to come and meet their loyal fans. Artist Alley is always a favorite, artists coming from all over to share their take on their genre of choice. Absolutely love it.
Alex Quirk
The convention was great, I just wish people showered more
Taylor Sparks
Big, fun, amazing costumes. Lots of art, memorabilia, and more. Just ok good options. Lots to do.
crystal price
AWESOME!!!!! GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY AND COME EARLY. PARKING IS ABUNDANT IN THE PARKING GARAGES. LOTS TO SEE, AND DO!!! DON'T MISS OUT!!!!
Michael J DeMarco
It was blast at FanX seeing celebrities going to panels seeing the cosplay
Travis Kawabata
This has become an annual tradition for our family. I think we’ve been coming for the last 4 year and as long as they keep the same quality and variety we will continue to come each year. It’s fun to get in the spirit of it all and get dressed up. They have a variety of vendors and activities and it makes it easy to find something for everyone. The diversity of artists, actors, novelists, etc is also great. This is the only convention of its type that I have attended but I think it would be hard to find something comparable in this size of a market. We always make it a point to do at least on photo op and this year was no different.
Emery White
This convention never fails! I've yet to have an issue or problem arise, and I'm sure if there were to be one, the staff would try their absolute best for whatever imaginary circumstance occurs.
However I will warn that the food provided isn't the best for my own platter. Their food court is pretty average regarding its menu options. Walking around all day doesn't mix with the more exotic food stands scattered around either. (Although they still look rather delicious!) I typically eat something light beforehand, along with packing some fruit snacks and etc, and I personally would advise to bring plenty of your own water!!
Rachel Presas
I love it and it big then two years ago I will come back next year
Tina Torres
Absolutely love going to FanX! Already looking forward to next year!
Seán Porter
Well worth the time. There are all kinds of vendors with just about anything you could ever want.
sarah dershowitz
My most favorite event. My family and I look forward to it every year.
The atmosphere, the art the cost play are all top notch.
I set our family routine aside just to go.
Megan McFarland
This is the ultimate playground for geeks and fans of various movies/TV shows and even cartoons. So many vendors and local artists to browse as well as new authors to discover. The panels are always fun and well thought out. Celebrities range from the niche to the very famous and, over the years, the process of meeting them has been fine tuned to an art form. Dan Farr has created something truly special I hope lives on for decades to come.
Isaac Byrd
Haven't been since 2019 due to the pandemic, but after coming back again, the panels were great and the artists/booths had tons of great art and merchandise.
Victoria Bramwell
First time we have been. It was entertaining to go and people watch with all the costumes. Lots of fun booths to visit. The kids section was pretty lacking and could use a nice overhaul. Pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday but Thursday wasn't too bad. We'll go again in the future.
Shelby Blas
Some of the volunteers were rude and was very demanding. I work with the public and I understand that the public can be hard but don't get physically angry with them and tell them that you are done with them. That was the only thing that bothered me everything else was amazing.
Chad
Always love going of coarse. I'm sure it's insane to figure the logistics of all this and they do a great job. Just a couple of drawbacks or maybe improvements that could be implemented: Better food and seating. There has always never been enough seating (to eat) many times we have ate on the floor because that's all we have. We have now started to go outside of the venue for better more relaxed options with success. If I ran the venue though I would try my best to get great food so patrons didn't have to leave. Second thing needed: Larger lines for autographs. every year its a battle for space and keeping people in the correct line which usually turns into sucking into a cocoon in line. Just make more room. Third. Leaving: Every time I want to leave I have to stand in a line to scan myself out: Big pain, Just get rid of it please, We hate it. Otherwise so fun and people are always great.
Kristel Walker
We always love attending and cosplaying. We expect it to be busy so we just go with the flow and plan for long lines.
Deufeyu Suka
LOVED IT!!!!! The 3rd day kind of was disappointing.......
Patty Hevelone
Had a great time!!! First timer!!! Plan to go again!!
Joseph Coleman
Waited in line for almost three hours to get my wristbands I paid for in 2019..It would have saved a lot of headaches if they had mailed them out like they promised. I had about a five block line when I started. It took over three hours to get the wristbands. Completely unorganized.
Tanner Gilman
OMG FANX WAS A BLAST THIS YEAR!
I loved all of the vendors and amazing guests. There were tons of celebrities and amazing panels to sit in on. I got to meet my favorite impractical joker Murr.
Katie Olsen
First time going this year and it was fantastic. The staff was very helpful trying to keep everything organized, especially photo ops and autograph lines. The panels were awesome, especially the star guest panels! I'm so grateful for this experience and the chance I had to meet some awesome people! Will go again!
SK
Absolutely fun. Great panels, friendly volunteers for the most part, and fun guests. I recommend eating from food trucks outside though. Food inside is expensive and not as good usually. It also gets very crowded though that's expected. Overall it's a wonderful experience and I haven't missed one FanX Comic Con.
Exzodius Phalkon
Had an amazing time interacting with other cosplayers, celebrities and vendors with amazing merch. Suggest this event to all ages.
Jennica Jackman
Super fun. Kinda wish the food was a little less expensive, but what're you gonna do?
Very fun to dress up and see others costumes and merch. Would definitely recommend.
Ron Jones Jr.
Where do I start. The best thing ever to happen to Salt Lake City. Awesome every time we go with my family and stuff for all of us to see and do. Great guests, vendors, panels. FanX is the Disneyland of Utah.
The Noob Network
Simply the best convention experience you'll ever find.
Rob
The event itself is over the top if you're not into that sort of thing. If you love all things nerdy you will love it. The main event, for me, was just people watching. The ticket prices are a bit much considering most of the space is dedicated to shops. If there was a free section for those just wanting to shop, they could probably attract more people.
Lisa Hall
Great con, and it gets better every year. These guys believe in actually listening to feedback, and not just brushing it under the rug like so many other places. Each event is easier and smoother to get in, and the volunteers seem to be better organized than the last time. Great celebrities, great artists, great panels, they know how to pick them!
Any difficulties or cons that I may have had to start are usually fixed by the last day or the next con. Great job guys
Rama Kendama
The only Comic-Con worth mentioning, my wife and I have never missed a year and now our son will be joining us. We love the event, the staff and volunteers, everyone is helping and polite. Every year has been a blast!
Gregory Hollingshead
Great spacious building! This building was huge inside, I was amazed at how many people were comfortably packed in there. There was an incredibly huge selections of vendors and artists who all had their own booths. The atmosphere was kind and accepting of all, and all felt comfortable. Big names from the show business who were quite welcoming and friendly and very well priced.
Kat Nichole
FanX was amazing and extremely fun! I felt that even with the setbacks of the lawsuit they made it better than ever. They had some great vendors and panels and activities in between. I especially loved the game room they had instead of the quiet room because it wasn't too terribly busy and gave you something to DO. I hope next year will be just as great!
Shitsville101
This was my first big Con and I had a lot of fun don't get me wrong. I was mostly disappointed in the organization and coordination for something as big and prestigious as this was supposed to be. They cancelled one of our photo ops at the last minute, they moved vendor booths in the middle of the con, none of the volunteers we asked knew where anything was and the building was hard to navigate. I had a good time but I felt like it was expensive for what we got and it's not something that I would do every year. Not opposed to going back ever, just not something I would do on the regular. Worth the experience at least once though.
Alissa Reyes
So much fun. A little of everything for everyone.
William Roderick
I love meeting the actors and people at Fan X
Hannah Anastasio
Love fanX. They always have so many different vendors, authors, and artists. The celebrity guests are usually amazing and so down to earth. We go almost every year and seem to love it more every time!! The only problem they seem to have is the photo ops, they never seem to get it running smoothly so you can waste a lot of time there just waiting. Other than that it's worth going!!
Whitney Kordsiemon
We go every year! It has become one of our favorite things! The celebrity panels are a blast and I love the cool art you can get there! There's even a kid section that our children love!
Sabrina Ottley
It was a great time, so many vendors so little time.
Kylie Gillins
So fun great art and good time for nerds!
Chadd Lee
Been working security for them for years. They are amazing.
Samuel Schulthies
What I loved about this Comic Con is that the community is really what's featured. The celebrities are so fun to meet and they really take it to the next level, but even if they didn't attend, people would still come since it's incredibly community oriented. It's very professionally done too, to the point where it presents competition to other major Comic Cons. Would love to go again!
Nathan Jenkins
So fun to meet people with the same interests. Super chill, cool stuff. I go every year.
Artimus Fox
Greatest Show in September! I've been to all but one and have had a great experience at all. Great family fun. You get to meet a lot of the stars that you've fallen in love with. I get to meet Meat Loaf this year!!!
Tatiana
A very fun Con, just had a bad run in with epic photo ops. The staff for FanX is superb, and always happy to help you out. The fans are wonderful as well and the space is great compared to other cons I've been to. My only complaint was with epic photo ops...I went the year Tim Curry and Jeff Goldblum we're guest and sheer amount of photos ended up breaking the printing machines. Of course no one was told until way later why the photos were taking so long and ended up having to go up one(1!!!) elevator to a long corridor to a table with our photos laid out. Please consider at this same time around hundreds of people were trying to do this at the same time as us :/
Harlee McFadden
Whether it's attending or volunteering with slc comic con, I have been doing both since the beginning. As an organization, it has been amazing to see the way it has grown and flourished due to the support not only of the volunteers and attendees but Bryan and Dan (the founders). They truly reach out to the community for suggestions and help. They care more about the fans and attendees than anything else and strive to make each event better than the last. The staff and the volunteers have become a big nerd family and I love being part of it. This honestly is one of the greatest event you could ever possibly imagine.
jake packard
It was fun and a lot of nice thing there
Tori North
There's always room for improvement, but it's always a fun event! We love the artists and vendors and cosplays we get to see every year.
Darrell Carlson
I did have a lot of fun, but for one thing that would have made it better. At past events, they had placed a decent amount of seating; benches along the walls, and in unused open areas, etc. This year they had only the couple dozen tiered chairs near the photo ops.
People like me, who have certain health issues that make standing for eternity difficult, or painful, need to have seating.
For me, that detail is important enough to bring my otherwise 5-star rating down to 3 stars.
Casey Wood
A good convention. Friendly volunteers, good staff, and well organized. I took off a star because they keep raising their prices, which is upsetting. They also sometimes don't plan things well, like the ZipQ process was very broken at the Fall 2019 convention.
Jon Smith
Utah's very own comic con. #FanX17 coming St. Patrick's day 2017. I'll see you there.
Brandon P
Great fun, but sometimes there are some issues. Can’t be too harsh because trying to manage upwards of 50,000 people is rough. They put on a good event with excellent vendors, artists, and celebrity guests.
Chartina Terry
We had so much fun at FanX. We only went on Saturday and made it to one of the panels. I loved the array of artists! We did feel like kidcon was way too far out of the way from everything else which was really frustrating. We're hoping that next year kidcon has some more activities! Next one you should try to get all of the supernatural peeps!
Jennifer Jensen
How do you rate FanX? There is so much to do and so many things to see. We've been going for years and it gets better organized and more entertaining every year. Kidcon was tons of fun. Didn't go to any panels this year, but we had a blast anyways. Bought some great art from Ukiyo-e Hero and then the usual stuffed animals, Lon-Lon Ranch mug, vinyl decals, got to throw some axes and ninja stars, see some amazing costumes and meet some great people. Can you really ever do something with more variety and fun? I don't think so. We're all ready to buy our tickets for the spring conference. See you there.
Kaylee Wood
Absolutely amazing. I attended 2014 FanX and loved it. Got to attend FanX Spring 2019 and loved it even more. Everyone is so friendly here compared to several other Cons I've been to. They team that organizes this is very personable and loves to hear requests for their fans. Also, Jess Harnell, FanX's "mascot" is incredibly generous and genuinely funny. Highly recommend going.
Joshua Smith
I've been coming here with my cousins since the second year, almost from the very beginning! Love this event, the panels, the people, and the atmosphere! See you next year FanX!
Vondakay Lofley
Took 3 of my grandsons plus 1 friend for the teen boy... it is a fun time for all the convention center is huge we walked for miles and still didn't see everything going back in morning to try to catch the rest we didn't see today. The boys loved it we were first time comic con goers I'd say it's a fun time over all the food is pricey for nacho a dinner plate size with melted cheese only $12. So go after you eat I'd say but other than that it was great.....
Brandie Richins
I've been going since day one and love it and It gets better each year, everyone is nice and so much to do from the wonderful vendor hall with lots of good things to the panels and celebrity photo ops and autographs and even the awsome Cosplay 🙂 …
Toni Moore
I had a great time at FanX and will try to back next year. This was my 1st one, and now that I know what to expect, I'll plan ahead for it next year. If you do go for the 1st time, bring MONEY! and wear comfy shoes, you will be doing lots of walking. Plan on eating somewhere else, unless you like dishes with rice and sweets.
Sterling Mason
Last year I got to meet and talk to Phil LaMarr, who voiced Samurai Jack!!! Incredible experience. He was an awesome guy and shared some cool experiences from working on the greatest cartoon ever. I've also met Jeremy Bulloch and Michael Stackpole and other cool authors and artists over the years. I have attended one of the conventions about once a year since they started off here in Utah. The first year or two definitely had growing pains, as all new events do, but the cons were still really fun. Organization has improved since then, with early ticket buyers getting their passes in advance. It does suck waiting in the line to pick up passes and then having to go back out and get back in line to get in, so definitely pick up passes ahead of time if you can. Always tons of awesome art and other merch for us nerds. Ticket prices are a bit rough if you don't buy them early, so it pays to plan ahead and get the early discounts. Then go have fun!
Brittany Schwartz

Bob Smith
FanX is an amazing experience. I love every minute of it.
Samuel Draney
FanX is amazing. From cosplayers and every kind of fan booth to listening to your favourite stars.
The only problems we had were with an associated company doing photos with stars. Epic photo ops let down the fans in so many ways.
Even with the issues my daughter and I had a great time.
Garin Savage
My family has attended every single event so far, and we have loved it. While it certainly hasn't been without problems, the people who run the show always do what they can to make it right, then fix the problem for the next show. For example, after a problem with the registration system caused people (including me) to miss a full-day of the show waiting in line, they gave out photo op vouchers and other coupons and created an entirely new wristband system for the next event that has made the process much smoother. Attend one event, and you'll fall in love with the unique charm, even if it isn't always perfect.
Tracy Patterson
Can we say it was spectacular. The people you meet there are very courteous and polite. The professional actors and the normal people like us. Meet Lee Majors and Lency Wagner truly down to earth people
Kirsta Carlston
I keep coming back every year and love it! Love the celebrity panels and all the cosplay. When it started it wasn't super organized but over the years it has gotten so much better. Also the guest lineup keeps getting better and better!
MichellieB U
Great time! Lots & lots of people with fun costumes!
Crystal Shepard
Had a ton of fun
V Joseph
I loved FanX and comic con when it first began, but I have found the quality to be declining. Things feel disorganized and chaotic at times. As time goes by I feel like my VIP pass does not get me much for my money unless all I want are photo ops and autographs where before I felt like I got more with the pannels and early entry and other items. Still worth a visit for the vendor floor, for now at least.
Lucas Henry
I've been to almost all of the events that they have put on in different capacities (panelist, press, and just attendee) and they never fail to put on a spectacular show! People there can let their freak flag fly and everyone (generally) accepts you for the fan you are. They really know how to cater to attendees needs and make a world class event every time!
Amanda Stevens
I have really enjoyed the three events I have been to. They have a great variety; the founders are very good at communicating with the fans and getting them involved; and they do make it family-friendly. My kids had a blast the few hours they were there. I don't know if I would take kids longer than that though. They did a drawing for the big panel (while still letting VIP get in) which I thought was fantastic so there was no waiting in lines and camping out to get in.
There are a couple of things I would love to see happen:
1) A few less vendors so there is more space on the floor. It does get quite crowded...very crowded...
2) More stars from the same show; so like one event could be several stars from...supernatural and dr. who and star trek. That way those people who are really in to those fandoms can get a truly awesome experience (I have never had more fun than I did going to all the Marvel/Capt America things this past con); and those who are not in to those fandoms can save money for the next event where their fandom may be represented. Just an idea.
3) Better speakers/sound system; for the entire event and for the poor volunteers trying to organize photo op lines.
All in all, great experience!~ Definitely give it a try :)
Mike Black
Overall, it was a great experience. The schedule was a bit messed up and the lack of clear schedules meant that I missed most of the panels I wanted to attend because I had to wait an hour for the photo ops. Next year, please post signage with what panels and events are happening so that people can plan their day accordingly. I will be back next year and I hope these issues are resolved. Thank you.
Matthew Ehle
One of the best comic cons I have been to! The staff is super friendly and amazing guests each year! This year we get to be an exhibitor which is exciting! Been to this comicon several years in a row. Thrilled they started up spring con again!! Come see us at #FanxSpring19
Wandering otakus booth 1505
Taylor Van Sickle
I live going to Comic-Con every year. Lots of booths with great merchandise. My favorite is artist alley, because they have some great artists. Good variety of celebs to meet as well. Worth the money to attend.
Amanda
The 2018 Comic Con was the 6th time we've gone. For the most part, we have a lot of fun. This one was not so enjoyable... it was very poorly organized when it came to celebrity panels, autographs, and photos. This post would be really long if I went into detail, so long story short, we had to stand around and missed the entire 2nd day due to a lack of planning and then communication from the staff/volunteers. They desperately need more options for food/drinks and places to sit, especially for those with handicaps. There is A LOT of unused space that could easily be sitting areas. I think I only saw 5 tables in the whole place, so if you're looking for a place to eat your food, you're out of luck... you'll most likely have to sit on the concrete floor (which is highly inconvenient for people with handicaps or children).
Scott T
First time going to a convention and my wife's as well and we loved it! Our one year old loved getting a picture with pikachu and we could tell he was fascinated with everything. We will definitely try to go again in the future
Ivy Melton Sales
I have been involved with Salt Lake Comic Con as both an attendee and a volunteer. I am impressed at how in tune the organization is with their fan base, their ability to provide personal customer service and showcase what makes Utah the best place on Earth. Their ability to keep this event as a manageable price given the top quality stars they bring in for each event, is absolutely FANtastic!
Connie Pope
Fun to watch the different people who get dressed up. All the different booths od writers and vendors are always fun to check out. I felt that the convention gets more organized evwry year. There were problems with the printers for the photo ops which delayed the printouts which caused alot of frustration and delays. However, alot of fans were really good at trying to hwlp ease the frustrations and bad moods by trying to help the volunteers with getting the photos out to the appropriate people on thw crowds. It was really cool. Thimgs happen and the convention will figure a way for next time on what to prevent this from happening and have a plan B.
Mary Furse
You can pretty much make it what you want: cosplay, fandoms, networking with fellow creators, learning about creating, shopping for geek gear, meeting celebrities, etc. It is kind of crowded, but I spend most of my time attending panels and avoiding the moving crowd. Still, it's fun to see the cool costumes people have come up with as you're milling around. There are plenty of food options nearby: on the vendor floor, food trucks, the food court at City Creek. Using the trax is a lot cheaper than parking and less stressful than dealing with downtown Salt Lake traffic.
Dawn Anglin
Super crowded not everyone following mask protocol. However we did have fun. Will probably go again. Amazing art!
Mark Evans
I don't know if it was just a result of COVID but this year (2021) was very disappointing. We had loved years in the past but this time very few guests and the panels were only OK.
Gina Muhlestein
A little unorganized. The photo ops were a mess. Some of the smaller panels didn't have the help they needed. It is relatively small, compared to SDCC. However, we had fun browsing the booths and they usually have some good guests.
felicia mcmichael
Seriously the best thing to happen for pop culture in Utah. It has and will continue to have some growing pains, but Bryan Brandenburg and Dan Farr have listened to their guests and are constantly striving to improve and make every event more epic than the last!! Great guests, panels and amazing nerd culture can be found here and I am excited to see where they go from here!!
Kelsey M
This is my second year attending, but my first year as a VIP. Everything was so amazing this year, the guests were great! Compared to last year there were far fewer hiccups and less confusion about the Photo Ops and the lines. Every year they try to improve the experience and they succeed! Photo Op lines were more organized and a lot faster, signing in and out with the Growtix wristband was a breeze, the ability to attach Photo Ops to the wrist band made everything faster as well and even the app worked better this year. I will be attending next year with VIP tickets.
mccaslin stewart
Really fun convention! It really is made for the attendees. A lot of thought and work goes into the panels and guests. Also the volunteers are always nice!
Spanky Ward
Love going to Fan X! So glad it's back!
Derek Kennon
The comic con itself is awesome!!! The lines are not.
Make sure you show up hours early because comic con only has volunteers and they don't know what they're doing. I waited in the wrong line last year for an hour to find out i was in ticketing when I already purchased my tickets.
My question to comic con is for how many tickets you're selling why don't you pay some actual staff that knows what they're doing?
Thanks
Michael James Jepson
Always fun to attend a FanX event! Amazing artists, actors, writers, and fantastical costumes from the cosplay participants! Would like to see a life-size walk-through stage set of a Star Trek bridge, The Brady Bunch house, Star Wars Cantina bar. When will SLC get a Star Trek Discovery panel?
Richard Graham
This is the greatest convention experience I have ever had. I have had the opportunity to attend all of their events. The diversity and variety of guests is stellar. They care about how the attendees enjoy themselves and truly want an amazing experience.
Chris M
Feels more like a big nerdy swap meet than a proper convention. The panels are very moderator driven and unfortunately aren't at the same level as other big conventions. It is cool to see all the costumes and interact with fellow geeks though.
Casie Warkentin
FanX is always a worthwhile and memorable event. I love the passion the founders bring to each event by trying to make it bigger and better. They do have their growing pains, but they find a way to make everything alright in the end. I will always support this event.
Sorina Marie
FanX was very enjoyable. The mood is super positive and there is a lot to enjoy. There are vendors, authors, celebrities, cosplayers, and so much more! It's a really good experience and theres even a kids division for the little ones.
Rachelle Hardy
SLCC is one of the best things ever to happen to the state of Utah! Our whole family loves it. I'm a fan, a vendor, an artist, and I look forward to each convention. They get better and better! The founders are amazing and really listen to the fans and guest feedback so it always improves. If you've never been, you have to go, if only for one day! But I highly recommend the multipasses. So much fun!
Christopher King
FanX had some great artists this year.
JTC
Utah really needed a comic and pop culture convention in the worst way. Dan Farr and Bryan Brandenburg stepped in and the rest is now history. There were some hiccups at first but they powered through the issues. It is now one of the premier conventions of this type in the country. The volunteers really shine. Especially registration who always seem to get people through the lines faster than seems possible. The guest list has included some of the biggest names in convention circles. The prices are extremely reasonable. Parking downtown anytime is a gamble. Egress is highly dependent on where you decide to spend your parking dollar.
Jasmin M
If you are at all into anything geeky, pop culture, or follow a fandom of any sort you definitely need to attend FanX. There are so many different vendors selling things from their artwork, tshirts, Funko Pops, jewelry and so many other things. There are many different panels to attend and they're free to go to if you don't want to pay to get an autograph or a photo with the celebrities who attend. It is one of the most fun events to attend and I look forward to it every single time it happens.
Amar
Super fun. Lots of great people and a fun time. My first time going but I loved it. Glad I went.
keith moellmer
a lot of inconsistencies in what was happening. We had different instructions every morning on entry onto the floor. Lines not well defined many times. Waited in line early to get a great seat, and then after most of the seats were filled up, a gentlemen asked us to move as those were ada seats. there wasnt a sign for that and he made a sign after that. the problem was we had bad seats after sitting 45 min early so that time was wasted. I really enjoyed the people who attended and they were fun. The panels were usually good, although some seemed more concerned about their books (self promotion) than the event.
Alex Snow
Amazing convention, cannot wait for FanX23.
Cameron Ashby
Salt Lake Comic Con is easily one of the best conventions that I go to! Great line up of celebrities, panelists, and vendors come to this con. And Dan Farr, Bryan Brandenburg, and their team really do care about the fans and do everything they can for us!
Ray Wright
Always amazing every year and it only gets better!!
Lance Vaporr
It was amazing. Everything was just great, all the costumes were really appealing, the stands had amazing products, and overall it was just a blast. I definitely will be going again next year!

SLCC 2017 was amazing, I go every event but this time was so epic! I loved where the Celebrity Row was and the Photo Ops were easy peasy. I enjoyed talking with Will Friedle about painting miniatures, I enjoyed my discussion of the BSG Universes with Boomer. I enjoyed talking with various artists on artist alley regarding their medium and how they created their art. needless to say I went over my art budget but it was worth it. The COPIC Markers Booth was brilliant, I know my nephew was excited to get some quality pens to do his artwork with and the people in that booth were very helpful in getting him setup with the right pens. I hope they come again and again. Probably my favorite moments were the quiet ones where I was able to go to the Grand Ballroom and listen to so many celebrities talk about their geekiness. I loved having Elodie Yung sign my Action figure of her Elektra and just to talk to her about Elektra!
The event was so fun my only regret was that I couldn't be there the entire time this time due to a previous contract. Thanks Brian and Dan!
Alexander Fellman
FanX is an excellent event, made less than perfect only by some of the rust from last year.
The lack of printed maps being less excusable, and wristbands instead of lanyards being an odd choice.
James Tran
THE nerd event to go to in Utah if you have any interest whatsoever in comics, gaming, and pop culture. The event organizers have this down pat. There are no more lines to enter the vendor hall, and the enthusiasm they put into their panels and events definitely show. They get better with every year.
Barry W
They need to do better with lines. More staffing.
Jax R.
BEST FANX/CON EVER!!! Even the late GREAT Stan Lee said EXACTLY that! They could of had a LOT more help and organization skills, ESPECIALLY for those of us with ADA. But I've never missed one yet! Hopefully never will! Just all around amazing fan's and AMAZING Cosplays ever! #FanX2019 #Cosplay #Amazing #Nerds #Awesome #mustgo #NeverMissIt #Geeks #Fun #WorthIt

The security team does amazing every year and it is a great event to go to more than once as the celebs change. Just go already.

I am a volunteer for FanX in SLC. It's great fun. Each year gets better.so much to see. You could easily take care of All Christmas shopping during the days of FanX.
The next one is September 5,6,&7 2019. Check online around June for stars coming to the fall session. There's a children's specific play area called Kid Con. A place for gamers. Photo Ops & autographs with stars. People in Cosplay. Artists, authors, collectibles for children and adults. It's all too numerous to name.

Always amazing! Just wished it was longer
Aaron Hall
I look forward to going every year. I love the variety of the booths and love to see so many talented artists, actors, and entrepreneurs show off their craft. Absolutely worth it.
Ashleigh Read
This event itself is always fun, but what I love most about it is the way the organizers are so personally involved, especially Bryan Brandenburg. They make it feel like it's really a community and like your voice is really heard.
Storm Whitfield
Great convention it was my first year this year
Tracy Sahleen
Truly one of the best cons. They always have amazing guests!! The volunteers are fantastic and they all do their very best to help those of in in a wheelchair. Always a great ADA team
Alex (Steiny)
Had a blast when I went last year and you can guarantee I'll be going everyone after that! I've been really impressed with their dedication to improve upon the last year and can't wait to see where Salt Lake Comic Con goes from here!
Joelle “Cosmos” White
Definitely recommend going if you can, Fun cosplayers, fun guests, amazing food, and lots to do! Definitely will go next year!
Matt Alexander
Pros: It's sorta fun to cosplay. Sometimes you'll find cool artists to support. Cool panels (if you want to wait in crazy lines).
Cons: Overpriced merch that you could find cheaper online, they nickel and dime you for photo ops and signatures.
I don't know why I keep buying tickets, honestly.
Quort Staker
Fanx is always a good time! Super friendly people! Always nice to see the hard work people put into their cosplay.
Rydian Frost
Had a great time. Met the Greatest American Hero.
Michael schooley
It is selfish of me to say this! But nobody should ever go to Salt Lake Comic Con. It's the worst place ever to to have a great time! Who am I kidding? This is my happy place and i never want it to end. Best place in the world!
Zachary J. Chidester (Zach)
I have gone multiple times including when it was once called Salt Lake Comic Con.
Every time I have gone, there seems to be at least the same general types of booths there.
There are booths that sell food which generally are by the walls or in the halls.
There also have been booths that sell comics. These ones tend to sell the comics individually.
There have also been booths that sell Funko Pops.
There seems to always be one where they sell mystery boxes.
On multiple times I have seen companies including Ultra Sabers and Saberforge that sell their lightsabers.
There tends to always be at least a few game stores with a booth.
They also have a part of the convention called the artist alley where artists sell their work.
There is also an area where various actors, actresses, and others you can pay to get their autograph and/or photo. (I personally haven't done this.)
Green Cello
It has taken time and still does to fix all the bugs, but I enjoy going to each event. The quality of the guests keep getting better and it has gotten a lot smoother to get where you want to go.
Sara Beyer
FanX is an amazing experience! Wonderful guests, artists, vendors, cosplayers, and fellow attendees! I go to every one and have always had the time of life!
Tristen Larsen
I love going meeting I could only dream of meeting and I'm not only talking about the celebrities, but the people volunteers, artists and what not. I've made a lot of new friends. And learn new things about some of my favorite things I look forward to going all year
Joseph Berry
Need better food trucks and less art stalls
Stalk3rchief
Great crowd, great vendors, great venue. One of my favorite conventions.
Wendy Wabel
First time going. Surprised at how polite people were. Husband hates crowds was shocked at politeness of people. So many talented people in our area. Definitely going next year.
Hine Tahu
I cant wait for this weekend 2022!! How i exciting on way!!!
Matt Vroom
The creators are all very personable. There's a lot of foot traffic but more than enough things to do and enough time in the day to do them. I'd recommend this con above all others in Utah.
Keri Dresden
Still loving it! I think the way they handled the situation to keep us all safe was pretty great! Can't wait for next year 🥰👍👍 …
Barbara Mauss
This is one of our favorite family traditions! Taking advantage of quiet rooms and out of the way hall ways is a great way to help the kids decompress from the crowds and be able to stay all day.
Natalie Ashton
I have been going to SLC Comic Con since it's beginning and I have enjoyed every year. I have loved watching it grow into this wonderful diverse event that it has become. Each year we get great panels, guests, and costumes to see. I LOVE SLCCC :D Thanks for indulging my nerdyness.
Kyle Gorrell
I've been to the FanX event twice but this year was my first time at SLCC, and I've LOVED all three events! One thing that I love about SLCC is that they listen to their customers and actively work to make each event a better experience than the last, the perfect example being the photo-op area; in past events it's been a little bit rough but this time around was so smooth! They also get GREAT celebrity guests, vendors, artists, and cosplayers to attend. The best thing about SLCC is the sense of community that they create with everyone involved! It really feels like showing up and hanging out with tens of thousands of my best friends, and then we keep each other looking forward to the next event. I will definitely be coming to SLCC and FanX EVERY CHANCE I GET!!
Rebecca Hendricks
I had so much fun and can't wait to return in the years to come. So many inventive brains in one area and people being themselves from the inside out. Even if you go for a day it's worth the trip.
Ben Moore
I've attended both the 2014 and 2015 FanX Comic Conventions here in Salt Lake and had a very good time at both events. My only complaint about this most recent event in January was that it felt so much smaller than April 2014. Don't get me wrong, it was a blast to get to meet Matt Smith & Karen Gillian and that alone was worth the trip, but April 2014 set the bar pretty high with almost the entire cast of Star Trek: TNG (including Patrick Stewart), Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin (Firefly), Walking Dead folks, Edward James Olmos and on and on.
While I know that the organizers were trying the new wrist bands (RFID i believe) to track people inside to probably help ensure no capacity fire code issues, the main convention floor was about half of the size and the "kid zone" (which was huge with lots for the little ones) was almost non-existent this time around. I had thought that the reason to push back to January was the hopes of drawing in more celebs due to the Sundance Film Festival overlap. Judging from the volume of celebs we had on hand April 2014 vs January 2015... It did not feel like this worked as intended.
As a Doctor Who fan, this was a must attend event and I've no regrets. I am however thankful that it was only my son and I and not the whole family. It would have been much more difficult to keep little ones engaged from what I could see.
Paul Dickinson
Well done. One of the better comicon out there
Cameron Ashby
Been some of my favorite experiences for each Convention! Yes there have been issues but it's to be expected and really everyone is doing there best to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time.
Harris Porter (Harrus)
FanX SLC is like going to Disneyland except you're a mascot and instead of roller coasters there are Funko Pop figurine booths everywhere, and cosplay "models" selling semi-nude photos of themselves to children while all-women panelists talk about how toxic convention culture is without their help. At least you can drink here. Can't wait for next year!
Lestat Tistics
Salt Lake Comic Con, SLCC for the purposes of this review, was a blast this year! Tickets remained relatively affordable. The venue, Salt Palace, was fitting for the size of the event and the lines were pretty short and quick. They were far more organized this year, 2016, than during 2015. I think SLCC has made a number of improvements to their convention and I only hope that they continue to do so.
Kasey Corbridge
Fan X is a great experience for anyone. The panels are fantastic, and it's wonderful to learn about the near future of geek culture. While sharing it's past with thousands of people.
Ronda A
Honestly, not the best setting for photo ops. Could at least create bigger "rooms", if better carpeted area was not an option. Ok for fans, not fun for celebrities to stand on cement floor for hours in a tiny "room". Panels - great, but why no videos from day 2 on your youtube channel? You somehow lost your live stream record? Weird.
Preston Marsh
It's a glorious money trap.... If they really cared about the fans they would have more fan based shows and activities. Not just vendors everywhere. Though we still had fun.
Matthew Kolster
I was really into comics as a kid, so it should be awesome!! Never been to one-maybe next year...:)
Danielle V.
I have always loved going to comic con! I'm so excited for this year's comic con! If you want to get into panels faster get the VIP tickets, totally worth it!
Dave Melton
Nothing can describe the positive energy you feel when you see the kids, who are VERY into it, start to cheer for themselves and their heroes. The smiles, the laughter, the relieved parents when they can sit for a few minutes while their kids get all charged up by Marshall at Kid Con or spend time with their favorite fantasy/sci-fi characters.
Vanessa Pulley
This was my first time going to Fan X and it was an absolute blast. If you have never gone... GO! You will not regret it!
Victoria H
2016 Salt Lake City comic con was amazing. They had Stephen Amell, David Ramsey and a bunch of other amazing celebrities. I drove 10 hours just to be here! Great job guys!!
Julie
Orginization is shoddy at best. The volunteers seem to have no training at all, and if they have had training, you can't tell. No one seems to know anything. The first year it was better. Every time they have an event (2x a year), they raise the prices by at least $10. Soon it won't be affordable for anyone to go to. It just seems like they need to organize better.
Beth Todd
Salt Lake Comic Con is the best one around. They ask the fans who we want them to bring in through polls and social media. They rented out the Vivant NBA (Jazz) to bring in Mark Hamill and William Shatner back to back, just so everyone who wanted to see them could see them. Who else does that? They improve the con every time and always book amazing celebrities and make it a great experience for everyone that attends. If you haven't attended SLCC, you should!
Allen Baird
So fun. Many things to do for all ages. Safe as well. Although it is easy to get lost in the crowds. And so many cool celebrities booths and panels.
redredredred black
I loved it here the, I lost something there that had signatures on it and when I went to the lost and found somebody turned it in, people are so kind and nice there. The only problem I think people would have is that it is just too crowded, the only reason I am not marking it down on that is because it is a con and that is what you would expect
Brendon Stacks
I've been to every Salt Lake Comic Con and FanX that they have put on, and I have had a blast!!
I got to meet a lot of my favorite celebrities. Utah has the biggest geek community in the US.
Carl Max Rowe
comic con 2014 was my first ever con. It was the best time I have ever had. I will be there again for Fan X '15. Thank you for bringing us geeks something to geek over.
Trent Jarman
It was a great time and my son loved it. Lots of great costumes and stuff to buy or look at.
Andrew Johnson
Mask mandate was very poorly enforced, but everything else went off without a hitch. Overall a great experience.
Julian Miranda
Amazing experience! I go every year and still don't get disappointed! If you haven't gone you need to go it's s lot of fun!
isabelle lambourne
Salt lake City fanx truly hold a special place in my heart for being a well run and fun
Julia Harris
Always an awesome time! Special thanks to the volunteer in the 3pm Elijah Wood line this year who fanned us all while we were waiting. Not all heroes wear capes!
Pros and Cons Guy
Fun got cool stuff meet fave celebrity's it's pretty great.
Landon Echols
Nothing short of amazing! We've gone to every event since they started. Always fun and entertaining and they always have great guests.
Lisa Mason
Fantastic way to enjoy a weekend of pop culture fun! Always a great time and impeccably run. They even have a great place for the kids to enjoy some fun at their very own #KidCon
Dan Sanchez
For any age... great times.
Michael Anderson
Very unique experience, we had a ton of fun!
Tyler H. Nelson
An amazing show, year after year. The show runners have brought the most amazing experiences and opportunities that otherwise may have never happened. Thank you Dan and Bryan!
Chris Ligerman
Worth visiting Utah just for this, haven't done a VIP pass but the panels are always fun and the cosplay is excellent. I met practically the entire cast of ST:TNG here too.
Sue Miller-Sugar
Had a wonderful time when I went in 2014. The only reason I skipped 2015 was because we had to go to Hawaii that month and couldn't do both. Can't wait till 2016 to attend again!
emma smith
It really is such a welcoming place to learn about new things! The people are so nice who attend and they always have a great diversity of Fandoms and guests that are from different fandoms. I have never been disappointed!
Mackenzie Burke
This is my favorite convention. I look forward to it every year! Ever year it gets better!! It's organized and neat I love FanX! Highly recommend you give it a go!
Nick Wilson
SLC Con is one of my more favorite cons. Really great atmosphere. Tons of cool people and rare to find stuff I couldn't find anywhere else. I try to go every year I can.
Joshua Flansburg
It's great. Lots of cool costumes. I dont know why the artist ally has a different booth system though
Tony Woodbury
The costumes, the celebrities, the energy and excitement! I will definitely be attending future Salt Lake Comic Conventions! Hands down, the funnest convention I have ever attended!
Karma K
Love it. Had a problem w a volunteer. They took care of the problem. They are awesome. Love their events.
Far better than San Diego Comic Con. In my opinion.
Buddy Eyre
Forth times a charm! Total blast!
Colton Weingarden
Great show. 2021 will be strange. Here we go. Missing some of the magic as they have changed alot
Daniel Butler

Destiny Chavez
Wow! Comic con was amazing! I had a blast, this is definitely an experience I will never forget! I still can't believe I met Famke Janssen!
Scotty Doesn't Know
Unique experience. Lots of fun, booths, celebrity autographs, and photos. Merch is overpriced, as well as food, but that's to be expected.
