Pretty good venue for themed nights. They have an upstairs and downstairs and both levels have a roomy dance floor. It still gets crowded especially on weekends so be prepared to bump shoulders with people. Bar staff is super friendly! Coat check staff is sad/unfriendly.

The Barbary is a sweet "hole in the wall" type bar however for being so small, they have an excellent sound system. It's a great place to catch local bands or see smaller shows. Drinks are relatively cheap (super cheap compared to the Fillmore across the street) and the staff is super chill. My experiences have been downstairs, but there is a whole other bar upstairs. Fun place!

Really cool venue with a really good vibe about it. Has 2 bars. An upstairs and downstairs. Saw Richie Ramone of The Ramones there. Had a great time and stayed to dance upstairs after.

Very cool history in the venue. Stickers for all kinds of bands on poles and walls. Went to see The Great Enough perform at the I99 Radio Birthday show. Had a really good time with my friends and the music. Would go again.

Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Dance! Update: This review needs to be more descriptive. I always have a great time at The Barbary(excluding that one time I went and felt like headbanging and moshing instead of dancing, so I walked to The Ave). Gina and some of the other promoters have always organized awesome events since the reopening in June(Sorry, I have yet to check out Tiger Beats, Birdup, and Unicorn Party just to name a few). The staff is always friendly, security staff pretty much knows me by name or by my face at this point(in a good way 👍), and the crowd is always a vibe! I'm usually there every weekend if I'm in the city.

I'm new to the city and this is my new favorite bar. I haven't been inside yet due to covid, but I love how the DJs are set up in the window right now. Who doesn't want to dance outside in the setting sun?! The music is amazing, the outdoor space is awesome, the bartenders are sweet (tip them well!), and the bouncers are friendly too. I loved the crowd, so many fun, welcoming people. Can't wait for next time!

Extremely fun club. There are two floors with two different options for music. The bottom floor was more electronic and the upper floor was hip-hop. It got very busy around midnight. The drinks are tasty, and they have a great selection. It was very nice to have a place to store the jackets although it cost $3 per hanger.

Staffs are nice and friendly. Love the DJs. Less smoke on the dance floor is better and be careful the floor is wet from those people that can't drink and dance without spilling.

Fun! Definitely would go back! Very casual and chill vibe. Not a grope-y place (unless you want it to be :P ) The crowd was kinda mixed. (My little group was the only group of East Asians!) LGBTQ Friendly. We went on 00’s night and people were having a blast. The "Mayor of the Club" really pumped up the crowd with his energy and dance moves. Door people & Bartenders were very nice, too. Not crowded before midnight. Bravo to my friend for picking this spot! We are gonna go again when I come back to Philly.

I love this place. One of my favorite bars in Philadelphia. It has two levels and both have different vibes. Its definitely not your standard club. If you're tired of the frat feel of many clubs this is the place for you. There is a charge to come in though so bring cash.

This is my go to bar when I want to dance. There are two floors, each with their own dance floor, music, bar, and bathrooms. There also aren't a lot of creeps here compared to other bars (I confirmed this fact with the ladies I go with). The cover is typically $5 but check their Facebook page because some nights there's no cover and more importantly sometimes there's an open bar. Also they had a 60s dance contest and I came in 3rd, so maybe I'm biased, who cares it's my review Barbra, leave me alone.

It was great for its location is close to a few interstate exits. There was free parking . It was very small but I believe there were a few more floors. It was great for the show I went to .I didn't have to wait to get a drink and I was able to see the band close up without a hassle of being so crowded. It was full but I had no problems with anything I would go back there anytime . The Band was "Andorra" by the way .

Probably one of my favorite Philly bars/venue. They do all kinds of shows and events here. If youre ever bored and need a place to go with some friends and grab cheap drinks this is definitely the place to have a good time. They have an upstairs and down stairs bar. Security outside. Parking in this area is the worst so just take a cab or walk!

Nice and friendly staffs with various DJs. Must show proof of Covid 19 vaccine card to enter the place. Not sure if you can show Covid negative test within 72 hours to get in if you do not have a vaccine card.

excellent mix of different events, whether you like drum'n'bass, house, techno, synthwave, 2000's hip hop/r&b: no matter what, they'll be something in the calendar every month, maybe even every week, to suit your tasted. the crowd is generally there for the music, so everyone's chill, no meat-market vibe like your average run of the mill club. cover is usually cheap, and it's a great way to catch local, established and up-and-coming artists in an intimate setting without breaking the bank.

A good night out in Fishtown requires coming here! It's one of the coolest bars in here in Philly. The staff as well as the people are pretty friendly, the atmosphere and drinks are enjoyable. They have chairs to sit, drink and eat and 2 floors with dance floors to dance the night away. The DJs are the best by the way. I definitely recommend coming here if you want to have a good time with friends.

Nice bar/venue in the fishtown area. Very intimate, hot and cash only! Drinks are pretty cheap and limited to most cans, some mixed drinks and shots. Here's a tip: the women's room is the one closest to the stage, don't let the drunk men inside trick you lol.

A one of a kind place in Philadelphia. Soo many different themed nights for any type of crowd. Emo night, hip-hop, 90s/00s (my favorite) and live music as well. This is strictly a cash only place, but it's quite cheap. There's an ATM inside. If one wants to party on a budget, this is the place for you.

Incredible music and if you're looking for a place to dance this is it, usually a cover of $5 but so worth it for the ample dance room and lively crowd!!! Definitely going here more often

As a "non-hipster" I still have fun in this bar. On "event" nights they play music that most people know. 90s, 80s, and such. And on those nights they have a photographer there. He posts on Facebook a short while later and his pictures are always very cool. I went on a "non-event" night once and it was basically hipster music that the average person wouldn't know but it was still fun dance music. When you go here you're not going to see people just standing around, so be ready to get your groove on.

The best DJ venue in Philly! With two floors and several different DJs spinning there is always something to dance to. It's like eurotrash meets indie hipster dork all wrapped up under one roof. Oh and cheap drinks, bring cash!!!

I used to dislike going to the Barbary, but it has since had more fun parties and better groups of people. Management is doing a good job trying to bring in new patrons. The Unicorn Party is the best!

it's not nearly as poppin off as it was back in the day, i guess gentrification will do that to places that don't serve kombucha or whatever. still, they keep it real with local shows and decent DJs

I've had good and bad times here. Depending on the night, it can be really fun or really lacking. If theres a lot of people out, usually a fun night. Good DJs and drinks are cheap. 80s night, fun!

Pro tip: don't wear shoes you really like here. You go here to dance and drink so wear deodorant! The bartenders are quick servers and usually friendly.

My friends and I went for a "Pharrell" party and it was a little misleading and just ok. The smoke machine was on full power and you could hardly see anything or anyone. And the Pharrell part of the evening didn't start until almost 3 hours after we got there. In those 3 hours we got to watch Pharrell and The Neptunes videos projected on the wall while a horrible dj played pop/ EDM mixes of songs. The best part of the night were the drinks and the people watching.

This place is super hit or miss. Sometimes the music is 100% on point and then other nights I question why I came haha. Overall I love the scene that shows up here and from what I can tell it's pretty gay friendly.
