Reviews of The Bell House
Would’ve been 5 stars if it wasn’t for how expensive and terrible the pizza is. Arrived early to make time to eat and drink before the show after the long trek to get to the venue. The pizza is not coal oven cooked and was absolutely terrible. It’s a frozen pizza they pull out of a mini fridge and throw onto a conveyor oven. A good portion of it was cold and questionably undercooked. Thankfully the beer was good and the comedy show was top notch.
My favorite live venue in the city! It's such a small venue that the people who show up to shows here are really the true fans. The venue is super intimate and always makes for a special experience - I've been three times to see the newbie cast of SNL, Tim Heidecker and David Cross. Can't wait to return. Highly recommended if you get a chance to see a show at this special place.
Great venue for comedy shows & events. Their instagram is consistent with updates. definitely follow because their events due sell out.
Only advice with seated shows is get there early because it does get packed .
I always enjoy a couple of beers and a pizza pie .
Really enjoyed coming here to watch Adam Conover (such a well-rounded comedian, fantastic speaker, genuine person, and relatable human being.) Best comedy show I've ever attended!
The staff at this venue were very nice and kept the event as organized as possible. Warning: They will ask you to show your ID and vaccination info at the door. I do not recommend arriving late as it gets pretty packed.
I absolutely love this venue — make sure to get there early to grab a seat! Great access to bathrooms & if you want a quick drink — go to the bar outside of the concert area
Visited this venue on more than one occasion to see a Sweet Spot show and we had a blast each time. The venue is attractive and the setup is great to accommodate the expected crowd. It's always clean and we never have an issue with parking. The show is even more amazing, however, I would recommend it if you require a venue in Brooklyn.
great spot for an intimate show. and i approve of checking for vacs and the providing of masks.
I had the pleasure of coordinating a wedding at the Bell House in August. The Bell House team went above and beyond to ensure our clients and their guests were having a great time! Communication and planning was breeze and the venue itself was a great backdrop for the party vibe the clients wanted to create. A wonderful time was had by all!
Good location and staff, cold drinks and hawt entertainment, room to roam around.
chill place, good drinks. went for the Jump Little Children performance and had a pleasant time.
Good selection of beers. Went to see a live show and the audio and vibe of the venue was great. Met by a greeter who checked my ticket and explained the process and door opening times. Smooth process allover.
Went to see a show here...I guess for Brooklyn its OK. Definitely feeling its age not rundown but not crisp either. Bathrooms were not dirty but not sparkling if you know what I mean.
Went for a standup comedy show and had a great time. The vibe was very chill and welcoming, great beers at the bar, and thankfully they had a little food as well.
I've been here twice now. Very cool establishment, and I love that it can transform. It's a huge space with enormous continuous potential!
Great staff and strong drinks. Visited for the No Sleep podcast live reading which was fantastic as well. Nice and interesting venue. Will be back.
A fun venue tucked away in Gowanus. Came here for a show and the audience was super chill, it was great to be so close to the performer and have them engage with the audience. The drinks were standard for a dive bar, they did accept card but the system was down so it’s worth bringing cash as a back up. I also saw they served pizzas on site, not sure if they make them fresh or if they’re supplied elsewhere / reheated (as they have a big oven in the lobby), but it’s something else they offer.
Saw Rocky Dale Davis here! A great comedian. Drink prices were reasonable, and they had small pizza which I did not have. The show had great views from any seat in the house. Only complaint was that they just lined up metal folding chairs, which gets a little uncomfortable after sitting on it for so long.
Great venue for comedy. Sound system decent but not top notch, which may be part of the reason that they’ve veered away from live music over the years. That said, their comedy programming is probably the best in the borough. Always a good night at the bell house!
I went to the 90s night. It was free, and I get a strong sense of "you get what you pay for". The DJ was bad, song choice was questionable and transitions a bit of a disaster. I found the dance floor pretty underwhelming, people not really getting into it, pretty cliquey and closed. Thumbs up for having any dance opportunity, but this one disappointed.
Nice little venue although seating is limited. Bar is reasonably priced and well-stocked.
Great venue to see a lot of interesting shows. Especially stand up and podcast tapings. I've been a bunch and the only downside is that it's become really popular lately, so you do wanna try to get to shows pretty early to check in and then get in line. There's a lot of annoying worry about getting a seat at these general admission venues, but I've always ended up grabbing one. I'm just glad there's a space for the kind of stuff I love.
If you want a seat to the show you’re seeing, show up a solid hour to 2 hours early. Great spot
Friendly staff, good drink selection, chill people, great shows. And they have hot toddies when it's cold outside!
Really nice venue if you get there early! Otherwise it's standing room for the shows there. Also, there are no refunds for some shows. Saw Adam Conover and Melissa Villasenor there this year.
Went to The Bell House for The Kaiju Big Battle wrestling event. The Bell House is much bigger than I expected. Roomy venue, my friends and I had a great time cheering and jeering at the wrestlers.
Saw my friend perform here and had some dang good old fashions. Bartenders know their stuff which is always a big win for me.
A great venue space with a smaller front room that has a bar and room for a DJ. The larger back room has another bar and a stage for live music. Manager was very accommodating with letting our group decorate the venue.
The place was nice
Good pizza, deep pours over ice
Itdbe nice if there was more diversity in the crowd but aside from that, cool chill place
Went to Kids Rock for Kids fundraising event to watch my new favorite up in coming band, Matter of Minutes . Incredible venue with incredible staff. Wonderful event. They need to work a little better at equipment support mic kept going out on performances. Other than that it was fantastic drinks and pizza were fabulous
Always enjoy attending events here. The bar service is usually pretty great despite the large crowds. Definitely try to see one of the smaller events that are held in the front room-it's more intimate.
Awesome space. Good vibes in this place. Definitely plenty of room to dance.
Nice venue. Went to terrible Britney party there and a great comedy show months later
Awesome venue, friendly staff, cool buffalo
They had great seasonal drinks here - boozy hot chocolate and got toddies, plus a great selection of local beers on tap. The concert venue has great atmosphere and the staff are friendly. I'm definitely visiting again!
It's a great place to see mysic shows, they tend to oversell the comedy shows, the restrooms need a little help.
Awesome time great show
And awesome music at the bar.
I have been here a couple of times for comedy night. I have enjoyed myself both times. I was shook when the bartender didn't know the notes of Grand Marnier 👀👀👀👀 hell I am not a bartender and I know what most liquors notes are... but had a blast and would come back again. Clean bathrooms are a definite plus! #brooklynstandup …
Great place to view a show, with food and drinks. Nice size crowd, anywhere you sit is very good with a room capacity of maybe 1,500 people. So any seat you get is a great seat. Very old world look, with wooden rafters,a converted factory in down town brooklyn, in the heart of the factory district. Do if your around a bunch of warehouses your in the wright area.
I love the show. Very seductive, done nicely. A Class act. Well recommended couples to attend.
I love this venue! All my favorite podcasts/improv groups from the west coast come here and it’s a blast every time!
Super fun crowd for the rub and for 90's night. Two separate spots to dance. All kinds of people come out to play. Definitely worth a trip to Brooklyn.
Great spot to catch a comedy show. Saw Brandon Wardell and Joe Pera here. Intimate setting, but not too intrusive. Recommended for a nice night out! Nice bar too.
Not really much of a bar person. But it's a great venue, and easy to get to.
Great vibe, great beer choices and good prices. Disappointed they didn't have food at all when we went. Their website claims to have it 'some days'. Great place to see a band - really nice vibe and feel.
The Sweet Spot is a burlesque show. They bring. What burlesque show original content with entertainment with comedy singing seductive dancing with class . They have great live music audience participation is phenomenal. this is a show I recommend to go and see. You will laugh, engage and participate with your surrounding environment. It has a fsmily theme feeling. So the next time tbey are in your state rember the name.Buy a ticket and you would not be disappointed
Only rated 4 stars bc I wish it had more seating! Great venue, reasonably priced drinks, love that they are still checking vaccination status and overall good experience. Just wish there was more seating!
Another amazing venue and staple of New York concert night life (in the realm of LPR, Brooklyn Bowl, etc.)… From the selection of shows, the customer service, to the strong drinks, you will have a great time by yourself or with a crew.
Have the chance to watch Michelle Buteau. It is a lovely venue, feels very intimate. There are limited seats, and if you come late like us you will stand in the back for the entire show so just be aware!
Really fun time, a lot of laughs! I missed the first twenty minutes of the show because of my obsessive compulsive trying to find the bell housed here. I eventually realized the name is an allusion to the bell jar, duh! I pulled up my pants and left after that. Fun!
Great intimate venue! Saw the candlelight concert there for Halloween. Had a great time!
Saw a live podcast show in their back room. They quickly ran out of chairs and lots of people had to stand for the whole show. Just doesn’t seem set up very well, feels like a high school auditorium. Three stars because they always have good shows there.
Naomi gave me a your and she was so kind and knowledgeable about the space for events.
Good venue with a nice selection of drinks at the bar
Great venue for comedy shows. My only complaint is that they rush you out of the back room after a show pretty quickly.
Got to see Dimension 20 here and man oh man was it one of the best shows of my life. The venue was wonderful and accommodating to all us nerdlings.
Very huge bar and venue space. And The Church were Spectacular, like always! 🌟✨⭐ …
Bell house is all about the events. The super indie destination for all sorts of fun and off beat acts, I've been here many times for so many different things. The bars (in the front, and by the stage) have pretty impressive options, and even though the bartenders are always super busy, you can call your choices easily.
What a venue, and what a staff! We attended a live comedy show last night to celebrate my birthday. One staff member, George, was especially wonderful. He was such a helpful and delightful human. Not only did we have a great time at the show, but George treated us to special seats since it was my birthday! During COVID, I really missed being able to be at live events, and encountering amazingly kind people, like George, is part of the reason I'm so glad to return to a more 'normal' life. THANK YOU GEORGE for being so amazing!
Great venue! I would not hesitate to get tickets to any show I am interested in that is playing here. The staff were wonderful, the facility charming, and the show we saw spectacular. The acoustics were fine, the sounds and lighting we're good, no bad seats in the house as it's a fairly intimate space. I was concerned as seating was general and not assigned; due to a subway challenge we arrived a little later than planned and I feared a disappointing evening ahead. But it was not! It was wonderful!
Really enjoyed the live show for ATWWD's tour. There was a medical emergency during the show, the venue, Em & Christine handled it great. Very cool venue.
It's a bit out of the way, but that could be good or bad. They have a great bar and a friendly staff. The acts are pretty top notch. The shape of the room is ideal it's wider rather than deeper and the ceiling is a good height. I am a live audio professional so I am hyper aware of these seemingly meaningless details. Overall it's a great venue and highly recommended.
I come here for Kaiju Big Battel all the time. Great venue, awesome drinks, interesting but good food selection.
Very cool live house place.
Went here for a live podcast show that I like. The staff was super helpful and made sure we got in first since we were VIP. Photobooth did not work but they did give us a refund + offer us free drinks.
Went hear for a wrestling event great time
Sized for a few hundred concertgoers or event attendees, though popular shows with mixed seating/standing will fill seats (around 150) well before curtain. They're simple folding chairs, so one might be better off standing or better still, leaning at the bar; there just aren't any bad seats. While I've attended a number of comedy shows from established acts (locals and otherwise), Bell House also attracts a lot of lesser-known comedians and offbeat acts. There's a ton of music programming as well that runs the gamut. Tickets are definitely not expensive. As long as the fans aren't running, sound quality is fine, though I could see a loud rock band creating a massive echo in the space.
Entry is smoothly chill, with the door people likely to stamp you. There are two bars, one near the stage, one in the entry foyer, stocked perfectly well for simple mixed drinks, and a surprisingly good selection of craft beer both draft and can, tilted toward local breweries, at reasonable prices. Simple food is available as well.
Beautiful venue, spacious, multiple bars so lines are never too long. Good but not exotic craft beer selection, it's definitely not a destination bar for their taps. Friendly vibe. Overall a pretty fun place.
Good place. Not very intimate so it isn't great for comedy, but they do their thing regardless. Old small theater and the stage is awkwardly high, but still does the trick
I love this quaint unique and rustic venue
We went for a friends birthday and our group had a good time. It's very laid back and the crowd is very eclectic so I think you can make what you want of it. Overall the staff were friendly, the acoustics are good but it just wasn't out scene!
The little antechamber between the two dance floor rooms is a good spot to mellow out in between rooms but overall if you have to leave a dance floor to see what's going on or tell someone something simple, it's too loud and too dark.
Beautiful venue, wonderful staff.
Wonderful staff, two great bars, killer music, easy views of the stage from audience, friendly security, a wonderful experience
The Bell House is consistently my go-to venue in Brooklyn, especially because of the talented acts they bring! Great drink selection, and solid price point, coupled with a fun aesthetic, makes this a must-check-out spot for anyone in the area.
Saw a show here a few times, the atmosphere was great and it was a lot of fun. For one of the shows they hadn't put out chairs so everyone sat on the floor, which was not ideal. Most shows are quirky and independent, while the Welcome to Night Vale live shows are really popular. If you're going to see someone well known show up early because seating is limited.
Staff was amazing and frozen margs are a solid choice! Extensive beer menu that'll please anyone who likes alcoholic suds.
Had a great time. The staff I encountered were all very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Small venue, cash bar and snacks. Cups and large (think construction job site) water jugs available, self serve and free! (Starbucks charged for a small cup of water when we bought two grande drinks; I really appreciated seeing plenty of water freely available!) The place was packed but quite comfortable. Not a bad spot in the house; the stage is visible wherever you are. The sound was good. I would definitely attend other events here, or consider it for an event of my own making.
I've been to the Bell house several times over the years and they are fantastic hosts for events like live podcast tapings and such. Great bar setups (there are a few bars in the place), we'll placed seating arrangements and really great at handling large crowds. Absolutely recommend a visit.
Great concert hall and bar. Affordable. Seats aren't particularly comfortable- they're folding chairs. You can order food and have it delivered there, if hungry. Intimate.
Been here on a few occasions. Nice bar with a great back room for events and performances. Nicely run, friendly staff and bouncers. A little bit out of the way from the more active parts of town. Not the greatest selection in drinks, but what they have isn't to be complained about. Their trivia nights can get crowded/sold out but are fun to join in the fun on.
Great venue 2 distinct rooms. The drinks are reasonably priced. I usually come here for the 90s dance party and the rub. The security here is very professional and the bartenders are fast. Note they do not server food at this venue but there are more then a few places to get a bite in the area.
Great venue for comedy!!!
First time going, went to see the awesome Robin Tran. I had a great time, the vibe in there is very chill. Can't wait to go to another show.
Where to start, the drinks are awesome! Especially the big tequila bottles being serve with anything you want in them! Just not sure if there actually worth the $18 they charge for them. The chips and salsa they give you at first is pretty tasty! So going to the food, super big portions!! Like I honestly think that with one plate two people that aren't starving could definitely eat from there! Overall the food was good, but I felt that it was pretty bland! Maybe a bit more flavor next time. The drinks overall are great! And there's a free flan when you check in. Which wasn't a big deal either.
I’ve been to the Bell House many times. One time, a guy tried to beat me up over steak here. Another time, I saw Emmy-winning actor John Lithgow in the crowd.
It’s a lot of fun. The shows are great. The venue is spacious. They just need to get their ticket line system in order.
Oh, snacks. Great snacking food. Good job, Bell House.
Everyone is super super nice and the drinks are amazing as well as the people. I also lost my airpods without noticing and they contacted my friend so I can go get them. You don't find people that honest often.
Amazing venue, amazing show. Never thought I would love scream singing "Hey Soul Sister" with a crowd of people with a 007 in my hand but now I'm glad I have
Cozy venue with a wide variety of entertainment. Have been here for both concerts and podcast recordings and the venue really works for just about any performance.
Probably my favorite venue in NYC. It's spacious and chill. Staff is mostly friendly and nice. Drinks aren't cheap but they're affordable. To top it all off, they regularly have great events.
Best place for a show in Park slope. Good beer, fast service, decent size, good layout.. couple use more piss stations in the restroom.
Check the calendar regularly. Some shows aren't advertised and you'll end up with famous acts.
I saw Pete Davidson and John Mulaney here a few months ago! Loved the space, fits a lot of people, there's a bar section and a seated are that, FYI, fills up really quickly. They get great performers.
They do (or this may just be for the show I was at) the new thing where you have to keep your phone in a sealed bag on your person-- I love this, support it 100%. It's not right to rip of comedian's content and post it before they've chosen to release it online, and it's often abused to take jokes out of context to generate gotcha moments for clicks, and I'm glad that the venue did this to protect the artist's ownership of their own material.
The Bell House is a neat venue. Old school charm and classy. It's definitely a Brooklyn vibe but you dont have to be from Brooklyn to appreciate it. I thought the place was beautiful and the lighting was great. Plus this is a place where a lot of, now famous comics, got their start in NYC. This place is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The staff was friendly and the sound system is great. Great collection of beers local brews especially... try the cidar. Go visit you won't regret it
The best venue in Brooklyn. Both for comedy and music.
Very nice place. I like the rustic feel it has. Came for a Michelle buteau comedy show. Her, the staff at Bell House, and everything else was just right!!! Definitely would go back!
Watched a great show here, margarita was a tad more sour than I am used to but still tasty. Friendly staff!
Great spot in Gowanus for music or comedy. Main room is good sized, probably can fit about 1,000 standing. Comedy setup is intimate, ~200 chairs with standing room only behind. Good beer/wine/cocktail selection. 2 bars, one in main room, one in outer room. Will sometimes have food vendors set up in outer room. Fun, local vibe with great acts passing through. Highly recommend going to a show here.
Went for 00’s theme music it was good at first but then the DJ left kinda early and was just playing boring 00’s music. Also the first bathroom walking in was
Kinda gross and unsanitary.
Friendly staff, decent restrooms, good bar.
This place is a fun time with the right crowd at the right event. The food was good and the drinks are made by the best bartenders money can afford. I recommend the turkey chili during a story slam. The host of the event and makes the trip here worthwhile.
Great acoustic and super vibrant! Awesome time
We need to talk about the seating. Who in the world wants to watch a comedy show sitting on the floor or standing for an hour or more. And yet about 1/3rd of the guests need to do that. Even more ridiculous, after finding a spot on the floor where I could see half the stage and was against the wall, about halfway through management decided now was a good time to demand everyone stand instead of sit. I'll chalk it up to fire code MAYBE (it wasn't specified why), but it just really points to an overall sense of disorganization. Can't possibly be that hard to put out enough seats for the number of tickets you sell.
But that's really its only downfall. Love the vibe, the bartenders are quick and awesome, had no problem with any of the staff, beers are reasonable. Love this place, just sucks you need to get there exactly when doors open (if not before) or you'll not enjoy any sitting-oriented events.
An awesome venue with all kinds of different and interesting shows. I've been to a couple of events here and each one was unique. There are two bars with a diverse selection. Not much seating overall, it's a general admission standing room kind of place.
Cool spot! The place is nice and roomy. The box office dude was chill, let me get stamped, and jotted my girl's name down for when we came back later. Decent variety at the bar as well.
I've only been here once to see a live performance. Everyone on staff was very friendly. The place is huge, not fills up quickly so I recommend getting there very early if you are attending a seated event. We got there 30 minutes before the show and still ended up sitting on the floor because all the chairs were gone.
This is a wonderful spacious place offering a variety of different types of studios. It was the perfect venue for our 80 member choral group. The only problem is their elevator can only hold a few people at a time. Allow extra time to get to your scheduled studio.
I've been to The Bell House multiple times per year for at least 5 years. The bar in the front is great, the food is solid, and the show lineup is my kind of entertainment. A/V is always on point. One of my favorite places to catch shows.
Not only is the Bell House a great venue for comedy shows, they are really great about accessibility requests for physical disabilities. They always get back to me super quickly and work to accommodate my needs-- other venues never even respond. Thanks to the Bell House staff!
Great space to have an event.
Last night I was fortunate to attend the Bob Odenkirk and David Cross show. My group arrived just before showtime and I found a space against a back wall. A fellow patron noticing my handicap offered me her seat but I politely declined. At that point a gentleman who identified himself as the Manager approached me and asked if I would like a seat. I said yes and he managed to find my 3 friends and I seats at a sold out show. It was very kind of him and his staff to do this for us and made a good night that much better. Thanks for the kindness!
Really enjoy the Bell House for comedy and other interesting events. There's good light food (sandwiches) in the bar area. Make sure to get there early, as seating is limited and unreserved.
Fun and interesting venue. We were there for Wunderkamer 2018 but I'm told it's a popular spot for live music. Good selection of beer on tap.
Came here to see Amanda Seales for her "Smart, Funny, and Black" tour. Pretty spacious. Staff seemed pretty cool. I really enjoyed the show. Not sure if I'll make it my business to go back unless I'm in the neighborhood or Amanda has another show there.
This is for Halloween night. We arrived around 10, we got inside in 10 minutes. When we left at 1, there were more than 100 people in a very long line. So if you do not have tickets or if you are not invited, try to get here early. The place is like a warehouse, with a long bar at the end of it. It was a good night, and we had a lot of fun, but honestly something was missing. Like the place has nothing that connect everything into one big party. Maybe it is because I am more into electronic Music when I go to a place like that, and that night (Or at least the few hours we were here) was more about 90’s.
Best music venue in New York. Also one of the few that sells really great beer.
I love the Bell House. This is a great place. They have a wonderful selection of craft beer, food, and awesome events. You can go to the Bell House to just drink, or you can go to catch some music, comedy, or dance night.
Amazing comedy venue
Great place. Strong drinks.
Great music venue. Also check out the "secret science club" on some Tuesdays where they feature a guest lecturer on something nerdy/cool. Age of the geek baby!
Nice selection of beers, staff are very friendly, the place has a cool vibe just to hang out too.
Hard to believe the people that thought Union Hall would make a good music venue could make this work so well, but they do. Good sight lines, good sound, not too big. And the beer selection - while not cheap - is quite good.
Very nice place, the bars had nice and strong drinks, they don't skip on alcohol. Didn't have the chance to try their food (snacks?) But facilities were really clean considering the number of people who went there for the event!
Amazing venue. Has 2 great bars and plenty of space for events both big and small. The caliber of the events here is what really sets it apart since these include things like Welcome to NightVale, burlesque shows, NPR's Ask Me Another, and many more.
Beautiful venue with high clings and exposed surfaces. An adequate space for a decent sized e ent. Knoedgeable and gracious staff.
Great bar, friendly staff, great local beer selection. The building is handicap accessible but be warned, none of the Brooklyn subway stops south of Atlantic are handicap accessible. Major love to the wonderful local Brooklynites who helped me carry my buddy and his wheelchair up the stairs at 9th Street St.
Great venue! I love the open architecture. Get there early for good seats. Great beer selection. The front bar has more options than the back.
Watched NPR's Ask Me Another live podcast here on Wednesday night and had a great time! I had not heard of this podcast until coming to this and was wonderfully surprised at how much I liked it. I definitely recommend seeing it if you can. Also, the loaded nachos were definitely loaded and yummy!
Went here for a show, the facility was well-kept, the bar staff were attentive, and the drinks were reasonably priced.
I’ve been here a few times for events and I really like it. They have a nice selection of beer and some good snacks. Nice atmosphere.
Great small-medium sized venue that managed to feel both industrial and clean, which is hard to pull off.
The programming here is inventive and fun - I've been a couple of times. Love the size of the space, perfect for mid-size shows, events like Guactacular, live recordings, trivia, etc. Really glad this space exists, and right in the Gowanus. There's a bar outside the space, which is also pretty cool.
Fun venue with great events and quite decent beer selection
Usually here for events in the backroom which has its own bar and bathroom. Alcohol selection is pretty standard with more than decent cocktails. Nice place to kill some time, especially if it isn't out of the way for you.
Have gone here for the Moth a few times. It always gets packed so get there early if you want a seat. Good size venue, good sound/set-up, pretty average bar, some pop-up food on Moth nights.
I first went to the Bell House for a Triv Works trivia event and fell in love. I love the high ceilings, which are almost like a barn and just the overall feel. It's clean, but rustic and has one loooooong bar, which is perfect during hectic events. I'm definitely going to return and am keeping a look out for a concert, because I think it would be a perfect music venue.
I walked here while it was still light and immediately decided to take a cab home because it's off the beaten path.
Last Sunday, I got to spend the afternoon with my beautiful friend Traci. We went to the bell house for the 10th annual chili take down. This was first time going to the bell house. I must say that the atmosphere and decor were great. I was impressed with the staff. Their selection of beer on tap made me feel like a kid in candy store. I will be happy to go back and to make this a regular watering hole for my beer. My tongue would die happy.
A great, casual venue with really friendly staff and lots of different beers. The room where the performances take place is large yet intimate. Great place to see a comedy show.
The events are great but they say to arrive half an hour early if you want to sit but that's never early enough. Also there is plenty of space to put out more seats if they wanted to.
Great little venue that even the bands seem to love. Good beer selection for the fans as well.
Not a bad place to see a live show, although the concrete floor is brutal. Install a wood floor, and this place would be great. Note there's a much better beer selection in the front room bar.
Hit or miss. I've had some fun nights there, but also attended one or two jam-packed, poorly planned events. If you go with a good crowd of good people, you'll probably have fun one way or the other. Be prepared for crowds and potentially long waits for a drink or food.
The design and layout of the main stage area is great. High ceilings, good lighting, good sound. Good beer selection, good staff.
High marks all around.
The meat pies are excellent to boot!
Fun venue to see spoken word and live radio events. Can be very crowded. If there is any seating at all it's usually limited, so get there early if you want a shot of sitting down.
I came here for the Guactacular festival, a fun evening of unlimited samples of guacamole from amateur contestants, chips and beer specials at the bar. I would recommend that you get here early for food-related events as they ran out of most of the guacamole after the first hour (the event was scheduled for 3 hours!). The venue is spacious and has a nice layout with a box office, stage space, an indoor area and outdoor seating. Getting here on the subway (N or F trains) was easy enough.
Located in the middle of nowhere in Brooklyn, the Bell House is a bar/venue that has a cool vibe. You can catch music shows or just catch a drink with a couple friends. They host a weekly dance party called the Rub every Saturday which is great. If you're into science, they also host the monthly secret science club which you should definitely check out. Overall, the spacious bar and beautiful stage make the trek out there worth it.
I went here when going to Star Talk. They didn't have enough seating to support the event but it was still great. Typical Brooklyn vibe. What I really like are the variety of events that go on. There's the secret science club, vegan cookoff, and a bunch of other things. I recommend it, not so much for the place itself, but for the great events they provide.
Fun bar on its own but it also hosts great events.
The place is really dope a d big... the stage area was really kool. The dj working the night for the 90s party was a tab bit wack... I also noticed that everyone that didn't get a bracelet at the door was under 21(mostly girls)... which made notice that the men there look like guys u see on "how to catch a predator" lol... maybe it waz just me...
one of my fave venues in the city. hip but not pretentious. great programming and also a great space for private events and weddings. total gem of Brooklyn.
Great venue. Went to a rock style wedding and it was very cool. Nice bartenders.
Came here and saw Michael Che, Councilman Jam, and Archer and what a show. Insider tip: if you plan to sit at the front bench, be sure to pack your ball gag and or a sock for your mouth because they literally hear everything you say and breath from this corner. Great space
Super fun venue in a cool part of town.
Was here for a winter tea party with Michael Arenella and what a great space. 2 huge bars. Great vibe. CLEAN BATHROOMS so if you have to poop it's not s tragedy.
Saw a taping of Ask Me Another and had a great time. Make sure to get there early to get a seat for the show. We were 2nd in line outside around 5:45 and got seats.
Went to see Thrilling Adventure Hour. All around good time. Great beer! Wish there had been more seating, but the view standing was good. Very cool place!
I have been here a few times for some events and trivia and it's always a pleasant experience.
The bar in the waiting area is well stocked and the bar in the event room is huge.
The events are always well run.
I went here for the Cruel Summer party: based on 80s and 90s songs. I think the people are nice but it's an older crowd and the song selection wasn't the best. You might enjoy it.
Great venue but wish they had more seating options
Decent drink specials especially for a music venue. Good shows there pretty often. Missing star is more on me for it being a long subway ride.
This is by far the fastest the meal I've ever received during brunch. However, the meal was pretty bland and the drinks were good but not strong. Good service but mediocre food/drinks.
This is definitely the most eclectic hall in Brooklyn, hosting everything from soul nights to chili cookoffs, and a great venue to see live bands close up. It's a few blocks from an out-of-the-way subway line, but once you get here you'll be happy. The club is spacious and cool, the attached bar has very reasonably priced drinks. No restaurants in the vicinity, but usually there'll be some kind of food truck parked in front.
The Bell House constantly has events, which can pack the space to the point of overflowing, but there are also generous specials, which makes it worthwhile. Just need an after-work drink? Grab a seat at the bar or any of its leather furniture for one of its many beers on tap.
Great talent buyer here and the bar is great!
I love the chill vibe of this place. Awesome atmosphere and many drinks to choose from. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. Planning a party here for my brother next week!!
Great views of the bands. The area is very wide, but not too deep so it's pretty easy to be close. Stage is pretty low too, which is nice. Sound doesnt suffer from Idiotsoundguyturnsupthesubstoolouditus.
I seem to end up at The Bell House once a week or more, just because they host so many awesome events (many of which are free or cheap). The Secret Science club meets here, which I love. Also lots of bands I like, and Wasabassco Burlesque. Then awesome one-off events like the Brooklyn Beardfest & Stache Bash, or all the food competitions.
Here are my tips: there's a bathroom right by the bar in the front room, but the one in the main event space is larger and better. Many events (like Secret Science Club) are only partially seated, so it really pays to show up well before doors if you want to grab a chair. For almost all ticketed events, you need to get your hand stamped at the box office before you enter the main room, so don't just get in line for the main room or you'll probably get turned away. The box office usually also has a coat check available. That's pretty much it - it's a good space, friendly staff, decent sound.
My first time, was there for Pub Choir.service was good. The show was fantastic I had a great time.the Bartender made perfect drinks.I had Gin and Tonic.
Really love The Bell House. I go there often to see comedy shows. The drinks are pretty affordable, the staff is nice and I always have a good time.
It was pretty fun for a first time experience. Though coat check was filled up pretty quick into the night. Beer was descent and music was good.
Check out their events calendar, there're a lot of great things booked here!
Saw Jen Kirkman do stand up. Great club, nice people.
Great event space- crowd depends on the night.
Two rooms (bar with a small area for dancing in the front) with a larger stage in the back for bigger events.
Love the bell house. Great events at low prices, big space, some food. Get to your event early so you can get a seat when the doors open.
I wish there were more seats and cleaner restrooms but nice, nonetheless.
Each night is interesting at the bell house. Their events (especially comedy) are always on point. There's a lot of space for both the casual talking bar experience and dancing
So many amazing comedians and acts come through the Bell House! Hard to get a seat though, you have to come super early and wait in line. Otherwise a chill, ok bar.
I went to the bell house in ejection night 2012. The bartender actually told a couple of hot girls that they were next because I'd been waiting, rather than just giving them drinks for cutting in line. Great service.
We had a blast on 1999, and we did it again yesterday! amazing music, mmmbap plus hip hop and Mariah Carey playing in demand. The most delicius beer the barrel soooo good. a bit far away for the train but worthy!
Nice venue/neighbourhood. I had no trouble parking (Monday night) there's a good drink selection and a decent menu of small plates you can carry into the main venue.
Great venue space...no dedicated parking lot but lots of on-street parking if you're lucky.
Saw the Wonder Show here and loved it!
Bell House is the gem of Gowanus! Awesome programming, great drink selection and friendly staff. I spent the saddest election night of all time (2016) here and still love it.
Excellent venue. Went and saw stuff you should know live... great times! Chairs
/seats could be better though.
Very loud, but they have a great selection at the bar. It was fun to try to play bocce as well and the small fireplaces added a really lovely element to my evening.
Great venue for live shows with a good selection of beers and drinks and decent food options. Staff is friendly and courteous!
Best nightlife spot in Brooklyn! Everything from comedy and club nights to concerts. Great staff, nice decor, laid back crowds. Love it!
Very cool space to grab a drink or enjoy a show. Spacious bar area with sectioned off nooks and couches. Cool performance space and friendly bartenders. Good venue for meetups.
Lots of good events happening. MAKE SURE TO GET IN EARLY. The seating is extremely limited and if you come even 10 minutes s after doors, you will likely be standing ding for several hours.
A good venue in Brooklyn. Quaint kind of feel, twee almost. QSC based sound system I believe. Why they want to put olives on nachos, ugh
I come here mainly for the venue in back. Big hall space! Smaller but open bar space up front. Great for groups. Easy to mingle.
Lots of fun! Would like to see more attention to bathrooms...ugh. we had already eaten, but beer choices were good.
A fun venue wifh great shows and now with outdoor seating, the Bell House is reopening and boy, were we ready for it!
The Bell House consistently hosts a diverse range of events. If you've never been - you are missing out. Granted - after several years, there still aren't a ton of food options within a 1-2 block radius. The Bell House makes up for that with great beer options and they often have food trucks doing food for larger events.
Look for TrivWorks trivia with Pat Kiernan & NPR tapings frequently hosted in the large back room.
One of the best venues I've been to. Easy to get to the bar, easy to see the stage from anywhere. Will go again.
Very cute bar and event space. Nice selection of beers and the food is good! The salsa was surprisingly good.
The Bell House gets tons of great live shows (Ask Me Another is a regular event here). The beer selection is solid as well!
Its like every typical bar. Bad lighting, expensive drinks. The stage area is fairly big, but seating areas are lacking.
Their comedy lineup is amazing but their seating and entry policies vary wildly enough to feel arbitrary, and aren't communicated at purchase time.
Came here for trivia. The service was very quick, but as of today their kitchen isn't fully back online yet, and only pizza is served.
I went there for Pat's holiday trivia with Google experts, I had a blast !!!!
the staff was incredibly welcoming and nice, the layout is great for the trivia games.
I had a great fun and totally recommend it
Great comedians in a beautiful venue. Be prepared not to get a seat if you don't show up early enough (and wait in a line forever), though.
Cool, intimate performance venue that's pretty easy to get to (from NJ) and has fairly decent parking (for places in the city). Quality bar/bartenders are a huge +!
I came here for the first time to see Amanda Smeales, the venue is small but spacious enough to see a small local show. The turkey chilli was amazing.
Great place for entertainment lots of music, comedy, drinking games, etc. Fun all year around! Arrive super early if you want a seat.
Fantastic venue with plenty of space to be able to view the stage for whatever program you are there to see. Intimate feel and really friendly staff!
Great venue, easy street parking and comedian Brian Posehn was super funny! Comfy sofas, great meatball sub, and two bars.
Secret science club always teaches me something
Gigantic and amazing location. Besides beeing a little bit far from the subway, the space is great. Prices are standard 6$ for a craft beer.
Nice staff, reasonable admissions, great bookings and quality sound. Only desire is that they would have on site food vendors more often because no other choices exist nearby.
Good music venue/Great wedding venue
Great services. Great drinks. Great atmosphere with the combination of two separate dance floors. Great for guys night. Great for girls night. Diverse selection of music.
Well organized despite a packed crowd; great show and everyone was very friendly
Saw some shows here. You have to get the early to get a seat. Good snacks go nosh on. Great beers.
Great venue and wonderful staff.
Went for 1st annual taxidermy showcase and competition it was amazing
Great shows, secret science 1st monday of the month is a unique and fascinatiting staple of this venue. Pricey drinks but great venue for unique talks and shows.
Always enjoyable to watch an NPR show at a great bar
Attended the taping of NPR'S Ask Me Another on Thursday July 18, 2019. Friendly fun atmosphere for this taping featuring guests Topher Grace and Arturo Castro.
Decent venue. No real reason to go except for an event. They don't necessarily have seats for everyone.
This is one of the best music venues in NYC. It's a little remote, but the industrial surroundings (and the bizarre Simith & 9th Sts subway station) add to the atmosphere.
The show was awesome and the hospitality was incredible!!! I suggest anyone and everyone who wants to see a great show have great drinks and great Ambiance go here.
Cool venue with good drinks and friendly staff. There are always fun events throughout the week.
Drinks are a bit pricy (maybe), it was a fun experience though; saw Mamrie Hart's first stop of her book tour!!
Nice venue but very disorganized when it comes to selling tickets and letting people in the auditorium. Be on your guard and pay attention when going in for a performance
Some good beers on tap and they have great shows as well. AND they have a photobooth that prints out 2 copies of each strip! Deal.
HausofBell is this venue's proper name. Do not be fooled. I've been dozens of times. Be sure to check out any of the Wasabassco shows produced here.
The Bell House is a classic. I've gone to many fun events and I expect to attend more in the future!
Went to an amazing comedy and variety show here on Juneteeth. Love the venue and vibe.
Fun place. Not far from R train. Saw Emo Phillips who was hilarious. Can't wait to see Jen Kirkman on nov5. Not much food offerings so plan accordingly.
so many good comedy shows. So happy I can see all my favorite LA comedians when they visit here.
50 first jokes always kills!
Great 10pm show last night! PFT and his top notch Spontanation crew were on point!
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Great venue- for seated shows get their early! You need to check in at door even if you have a ticket
To be honest with all of you still have actually been there but I was passing by it and then saw the line and the people outside. Everyone that was outside seemed like they were having a great time. So I definitley want to check this place out.
Standing Room only - wear comfortable shoes unless you have a V.I.P. booth. Friendly atmosphere.
Great small concert/event venue... Have been to a few great comedy shows here
A fun place for a show that will force a pregnant lady that has been sitting inside hours before a show to stand outside inline because an impromptu line has formed inside the bar.
Very fun venue sad i didn't get to try the food its smelled so good but great beer selection and great price for a venue spot
I have only been to Bell House when they host the Secret Science Club and its always been a good experience. Large venue, several bars.
Great venue to see your favorite artist in a smaller setting. Superior food and bartenders!
Standing Room only wear comfortable shoes unless you have a V.I.P. booth. Friendly atmosphere.
Great place to attend to a performance show. Ambiance is quite interesting, and really friendly.
Highly recommended
I've only ever been here for the 90's dance party and it's great. The bathrooms are usually awful but the song variety makes that less annoying.
This bar has an excellent venue for shows. A nice cozy area with decent acoustics.
I like the vibe here, seen a couple of shows and it hosts a good amount of NPR shows that I listen to. Seating is always a little tight, expect to stand.
Great music venue, good food, good drinks in a great factory style setting g in brooklyn
Went here for the first time to see Smart, Funny, and Black. Cool venue, decent drinks, good vibe.
Good place to see a show or one of their many special events. Cheap drinks. Lots of space.
This place is a great venue, the food is a bit pricey but the drinks are mad strong.
Big venue, plenty of room for dancing. I went there for 90s night, the place was full of white girls singing their hearts out
Spacious, warm ambiance. Great place to hang out and have a drink and talk after the awesome acts.
Great, spacious venue with amazingly nice staff. Great drinks as well!
Decent drinks, hipster ambiance. Service is nice and look for the events they host.
Great atmosphere with bar and light food. Performance area is nice ss well.
Great venue for a claustrophobic person like me. Also, you can find parking very easily.
Freaken awesome.... Eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow is Monday.
Went there to hear a jazz band, and it was fun, but the place is a bit off the beaten track...that's the only drawback if you are using public transport.
SUPER fun neighborhood place to dance. Check the schedule for fun shows and visit for a 90s night to dance your pants off.
Always a good vibe. Nice layout. Fast bartenders. All in all a lovely venue.
Warm and rustic venue. Good selection of beers. Check out ask me another, which is taped here.
The beer was cold, the staff was pleasant, and the music was loud!!
My group members and I (Turning the Tide) were being honered here for our Environmental Justice work serving RedHook, Wyckoff Gardens, Warren Houses, Gowanus Houses, and Gowanus as a whole.
Great local venue for comedy, concerts, and dance parties of all types.
Huge bar up front, huge performance space in back, nice outdoor patio. Great drinks, food festivals, shows and more.
Good shows, drink prices were good, and the venue is amazing
I keep in touch with "The Rub" party (last Saturday of each month). DJ Ayres, DJ Eleven, and special guests are always on point!
Very good music !!! I actually like this place, they have some great beer and good snacks
Nice open space for dancing yrslf clean. Decent beer selection and drink choices.
Gorgeous venue with friendly staff and awesome selection
Had a great time listening to comedian Josh Gondelman. Cool venue but I didn't like standing the whole time
Great venue for a show. Good beer on tap and food available.
This is a fun place to go see shows, I just wish there were some more seats.
Great beer and ambiance. They also host secret science club and other great events.
It's a nice space for events with a good size stage and 2 bars, however the rest rooms are a bit disgusting.
Great shows and events. Check the calendar, there's something interesting here almost every night.
Pretty good place to see a show. Full bat bar with draft beer and tall boys.
Super fun, affordable night out. Lots of space for dancing and not uncomfortable creepos.
*Small venue; bar area in front of venue and in event space
Seen here:
Kyle Kinane (4/4/18)
Opened on time, check vaccine cards at the door, great place loads of fun
Came for my friends birthday. It was 90s night! Fun to come with a group. It is free for entrance.
I don't love seeing comedy here. They sell more tickets than they have seats so you may have to stand if you don't come early.
This seems to be THE place in Brooklyn for awesome events. The clean bathrooms, friendly bartenders and chill front lounge are all awesome bonuses to this space.
Great concert and show location. Also has one of the best pulled pork sandwiches in the city!
Always great shows and events! Good beer selection, too!
There weren’t any snacks for sale. But plenty of space to dance.
The venue was nice. The people were nice and the staff was super welcoming.
Clean bathrooms, a rarity in most venues. Reasonably priced beers.
Great for food, drinks and entertainment.
A tad out of the way but a nice venue with quality drinks, a good vibe and good sound.
Lots of weird and wonderful events.
Nice venue, good bar and acoustics. Intimate atmosphere
Great throwback music mixed with hits from today. Definitely a great spot to mingle at the bar or dance.
Great show with the NY comedy fest going on then. Great venue too
Great venue spot! I attended a wine tasting event.
Went to a comedy show... Very Basic Bar... Nice venue for up and personal show.
Cozy venue that hosts surprising, quirky acts at very reasonable prices. Industrial neighborhood is a bit of a hike.
Great shows here! Lots of fun nights.
Review is only for the Rub, fave dance party in the city. Last Saturday of the month, check it out.
They throw excellent events here. I came here for a cookie bake off. Next time I come here I'm bringing my Tupperware.
Great venue! Sometimes there's pop-up food at the bar
Average place with a mediocre selection of drinks. Music is hit and miss
Fun spot for a comedy show. Get there early if you want seats!
Nice space with good acts coming through, haven't had any remarkable experiences here though.
Small and intimate. Best place to see a show !
Came here on a Saturday for a party called The Rub and had a blast dancing to the greatest hits of the last two decades.
Here to see Adam Ruins Everything Live!
Friendly doorman and host.
Good alcohol selection.
Good venue for comedy. Get there early, as seating is often limited.
The atmosphere of this place is spectacular. Drinks are good to of course.
Very nice live venue. Not a bad seat in the house.
Great venue, great staff and good beer selection.
Really liked the venue and good drink prices.
Small space with little seating but always has interesting events.
Great music, great events. This is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn
Gotta be honest, the staff was a wee bit lax, I think they could use a little more charm and pep, life is a highway
Great music venue with a superb beer selection!
I saw the NPR Ask me Another podcast record here. What a great venue!
Nice place! Fun science shows in the back theme based drink specials
Great value for music and live podcasts. Cool bar and nice neighborhood.
Had a great time here at the Moth Story Slam. Good drinks, good environment.
I would make the prices a little lower and the rest is very good! the atmosphere is nice and great service.
Cool place, nice venue
Loved the atmosphere. Don't know when I'll be able to go back but I can't wait!
It's the best dance party any night of the week-just check the calendar!
Cost check took FOREVER to pick up our coats. Other than that it was a great time
Saw Tom Green do stand up. Place was awesome in a low key casual way.
Great music...decent place to go dancing & mingle.
Nice little watering hole with an event space in the back. They serve some snacks which I have yet to have.
Standing room only venue with great performances. Awesome venue.
They let you come inside and grab a beer to drink while you wait outside in line. That's a solid system, right there.
Multi dance floor venue close to my Park Slope neighborhood.
If you're looking for a fun night of dancing with your girlfriends to all your favorite tunes.. this is the spot.
Good beers but the sound balance was a bit off, killed me ears for a podcast
Nice bar, decent beer selection and chilled vibes
Really good meatballs, excellent nachos, reasonably priced and comfortable.
Great venue to see indie artists.
Nice layout and sound system. Affordable drinks at the bar.
Can't go wrong here. If you're here for a show or just simple drinks.
Great venue. Decent prices. Friendly staff!
Clean reasonably priced bar with polite staff and fun events.
Really great venue and also awesome vibe.
I loved the ambiance and they didn't eat me pets.
I was here to see the Moth live. It's a big place with few tables and minimalist decor
Staff is amazing! Hosted a fundraiser there and got great feedback
Gone for some stand up shows and Moth events, love the place!
Fun location. Diverse events and crowd make it great fun!
The Rub party is awesome🎆✨

Great for open bar events. good amount of space.
Fun show great drinks
Great beers, nice place, very limited seating.
Spacious, good bartenders, cool place for groups to hang.
Good venue. If you didn't tell me it was NYC I'd've never known.

Good music, decent drink prices, slightly crowded
Went there for a talk organized by the Secret Science Club. Great place!
Beautiful, huge space (and very down to earth) plus home of The Moth!
Great venue bar. Decent selection of beers.
Saw Shellac at The Bell House, such a great venue. Sound was on point.
Nice small venue. But a bit out of the way.
Super cool super chill. Nice staff and awesome environment.
Solid beer selection, excellent sound. What else do you need?
Amazing music! Danced so hard and have the bruises to prove it
A nice place, but prices are over inflated. The bouncer also takes his job way too seriously.
Good monthly 90s part and a great beer selection.
I love this venue enough to schlep here from Philadelphia on the reg.
Ron Funches could have been funnier. The people before him were funnier than him
Always crowded, fun to go with your friends for a drink or two
Really had a great time, fun and nice price
Absolutely love Secret Science Club, and The Bell House for hosting it.
Great event programming, good beer selection.
Great venue, good drink prices.
My favorite place to see Spontanianation, and other Paul F Tompkins shows!
Intimate venue for a show with places out-front to park a bike.
Nice bar and concert/event space in Brooklyn.
Great cocktails. The sound engineer did a great job.
Won't find a better venue for entertainment at decent prices anywhere else in Brooklyn
