The Civic Theatre is a really good place to see a concert. There is open floor general admission or two balconies with seating, and two side viewing areas. It’s a really neat layout because there isn’t a bad seat in the place. The acoustics were great and the bands I saw all sounded fantastic. I sat in the back row of the first balcony and felt like I was right there with the band. They had plenty to drink but were no serving any food (they may serve food sometimes but it didn’t appear that way). It was pretty tight getting around the lobby area and to the bathroom and bar, but not unbearable. Overall it is kind of bare bones, but to me that was part of the appeal. The seating was roomy, the view and sound were great, so I was alright with it not being really fancy. I have them bookmarked now so I can go back when another good show pops up. I would have rated another star if they served food, I like to eat while I watch a show.

Smaller venue sort of cool, a few balcony seats but most GA pit, standing room. If you aren’t standing by a drunken chucklehead who spills beer on you, might be ok. Overall, we didn’t dig it.

Parking options right out front, easy enough to get into venue, open and spacious foyer, bathrooms easily accessible and marked, bathrooms were super nice aswell, clean, seating was nice and well marked, seats were comfortable, over all good venue!

The theater is really fun. Lighting was good and sound average. I love being able to go upstairs and enjoying the show from the balconies. Bar is beautiful, bathrooms clean. I would suggest making a smoking area that isnt the exit. As someone allergic to smoke, it was a horrible end to a great show having to run down a tunnel of 70 smokers.

We are so delighted that we chose the Civic as our wedding venue. Cali was amazing to work with and very helpful in navigating a date change with us. Cali and her team saw our vision and worked with us and all of our vendors to create our perfect day. Mike, Winter and the rest of the team at the Civic were also phenomenal to work with, and so helpful in making our perfect day come together. I work in production and was able to meet with Mike and his team to explain our creative vision and they truly went above and beyond to make it special for us. This is hands down the best venue in New Orleans to create a unique and special day! We also love going to concerts at this venue so thats an added bonus!

Beautiful, old theater that can handle crowds both from a security and bar stand point. Definitely can get a bit crowded, but it's nice for the older folks because there's seating on the second level. Pokè-stop if you're still playing Pokemon. Plan ahead with the crowds!

This was a neat venue. We got free tickets to Kurt Vines and didn't really know what to expect, but it was quite impressive. The acoustics were on point and they had a decent beer selection.

A new favorite venue! The lady at the box office saved our night when our tickets wouldn't work (Vivid Seats is a scam). It's not a huge venue, which I love because even a metal show felt intimate. Adding this to my venue watch list!

Went to the Civic for a Live show for a podcast called Welcome to Nightvale. The service was impeccable. Drinks were standard show prices and line was in quick as well as exit.

Beautiful theater, good location, friendly bartenders. Unfortunately they allow smoking and vaping inside the theater during the show.

Great place for a concert. The new risers really improved the sightlines. But they charge outrageous prices for drinks, especially wine. The wine is disproportionately marked up, more so than other drinks. As a diabetic, my alcoholic drink options are limited. They have a six dollar bottles of wine, that they charge $9.00 for a tiny cup. Lousy wine, lousy pour. I know how the industry works. The markup is usually high, and the wine is never great. I'm a grown up. I get it. So I'm not whining. But this was excessive.

Intimate setting but great sound. Place was sold out but the bartenders were fast and efficient. Even though all I drank was water and soda I was still waited on quickly and they all had great attitudes. Nice hidden gem. Smaller auditorium with intimate setting and decent acoustics. Staff professional and welcoming. Adequate parking available within blocks of the theatre. A number of restuarant choices for after the show dining within walking distance. Clean restrooms. Cons: Room temperature in the balcony area was hot. Several individuals commented. The seats were very cramped with little to no wiggle room. Experienced leg pains (never before) during the performance. I had to stand in aisle for temporary relief.

We saw George Ezra at this venue and it was perfect. It was the right size for this concert. It has a very personal, close feel. There is the pit plus the balcony levels. We got an seat in the front row of the 2nd balcony level and had a great view. There were bars at each level that moved quickly and did not build up a line. I would highly recommend going to concerts at this location.

Ghost of a Chance

This is a beautiful old theater that was closed down for many years. It has been beautifully renovated. It’s not a super big theater so it’s a great place to see your favorite band or performer. This is very centrally located. It is close to the French Quarter in Canal Street. Check out Seaworthy around the corner For seafood and cocktails.

One of like two places to see national indie acts in Nola. Drink prices are slightly high, but reasonable. Standing area is varied. You can feel the floor bounce underneath you, which is fun and scary. Pro-tip: if the down stairs bar is packed, go upstairs, they're usually pretty chill.

I experienced this venue for the first and only time on New Year's Eve. I attended DJ Soul Sister's 17th Annual New Year's Eve Soul Train event. It was a good crowd of people and the venue was roomy enough to accommodate the crowd comfortably. I had purchased my ticket in advance online but received information from the the personnel at the ticket window who were friendly and informative. The ladies who scanned the tickets at the entrance were also personable as we held a brief conversation. Inside the music had a good volume and I enjoyed the 2nd level stages where the DJ worked as well as the other side where there were dancers which were easily seen from the first level where I was. I mixed and mingled without incident especially for such a celebratory night. There was still standing room, however I did not see the 2nd level to know what took place up there. All in all I enjoyed the venue.

I absolutely love this venue. The sound is great and you dont get ripped off at the bar. They have lots of good shows and plenty of other acts as well. I always try to watch shows at this venue.

The space was nice inside. The acoustics were great as well. I do have a problem with how they do things. Put every show on your calendar. Every show needs to use the box office. If it's happening at the Civic it's a Civic show. I get people rent space, but the caliber of the people renting the space is too notch for the most part. If you put ALL shows on your calendar it helps the leasee and it helps the Civic show it's ability to host a variety of events.

Beautiful space, but they could do a better job with funneling concert-goers out of the building when the show concludes. 90% of our crowd tried to exit through the main entrance because the other exits weren't obvious. It wasn't exactly a fire safe situation.

One of my favorite New Orleans venues. The staff was super helpful preparing for my friends wedding, and Big Easy Events did a spectacular job loading in and setting up all the tables, chairs, and linens exactly as we wanted!

Nice theater, but they do not look at tickets. People from the nosebleeds are able to go to the floor and it was so crowded you couldn't leave the floor to grab another beer.
