James was very responsive and professional from the moment we reached out, responding to our emails right away and making everything clear and simple. The day before our wedding it was supposed to rain, and he was great about keeping our plans but being prepared for any scenario. Our ceremony was beautiful, every word of the vows felt very personal and meaningful, and James' warm presence added to our special day! (These pics are from his cell phone, which were awesome to have way before our photographer was ready!)

I did a lot of research on the steps towards getting a marriage license, however, the websites were confusing me. I came across Rev. James' website, and saw a YouTube video simplifying everything that needed to be done to get married in Hawaii. I looked through his reviews, services, and wedding packages and I knew he would be a great fit. I gave him a call and he was able to squeeze our wedding ceremony in 3 weeks from that day. Rev. James Chun did such a wonderful job with our wedding ceremony. Due to the weather I had to make some last minute changes. I called him 2 days prior to the wedding day and he was more than willing to switch venues. On our wedding day he coached us on what we had to do, and gave us cues on what we were going to do next. His choice of words during the ceremony were beautiful, unique, and had so much meaning behind it, both my husband and I got so emotional lol. Highly recommend him as a wedding officiant!! He did such an admirable job. Mahalo!

James married us twice. Once in a private ceremony in November 2020 and again last Saturday in February 2022. We knew we wanted James for our public ceremony and celebration. He was perfect helping direct our rehearsal and preparing for the ceremony. He is so warm and well spoken. We highly recommend him..

We found James Chun by googeling wedding officiant in Hawaii and had a very good feeling about him from the start. He replied to my many questions quickly and he has a great website with lots of helpful information. He gave us good advice via Mail and we also met him in person in his Honolulu office a few days before the wedding. On the wedding day he stayed so calm when we looked for a good spot at the beach and again had great tips and ideas and guided us very well through the ceremony. He said lovely things and had a very calming influence on us which we all appreciated very much. All in all we really recommend James Chun. Thank you for being a part of our dream wedding!

James was an amazing officiant! He was very professional and spoke very calmly. The day I wanted to get married he had 16 other weddings scheduled yet he was still able to accommodate us. He chose a beach location in North Shore that was beautiful. He answered all questions promptly and explained the process to make things very easy. He also took some photos for us that came out amazing (Professional Photographer quality) as we didn’t have any guests to take photos of us on our special day! Highly recommended by my wedding planner, James was a perfect fit for our small wedding. His website is thorough and well thought out, especially the section on obtaining our wedding license. Given our limited time frame, he kept our ceremony short and sweet. What I loved the most was that he has a warm, gentle friendliness about him, as well as a calming presence that matched the serene atmosphere of our venue. Written by the bride, Claudia: I found Reverend James Chun online back in December, 2021. My now husband and I wanted to marry in Hawaii and researched different locations and officiants. I came upon Reverend Chun’s website, saw the reviews and contacted him. He promptly answered our emails, answered all our questions and answered any additional questions on a phone call. On the day of the wedding, my husband and I were an hour late due to a major traffic accident on a one way highway. Both the Reverend and I were in constant communication. The wedding was set at 6:30 and we arrived at 7:05. When we arrived, Reverend Chun was all smiles and calm. My husband and I were frantic, as we were late and wanted to get perfect sunset pictures. Reverend Chun was amazing! The ceremony was perfect! I bought the pineapple package which included my hair, makeup and photography. Both vendors, Leslie Fair (make-up/hair) and Samie (photographer) we’re amazing as well. Both are kind, caring, professional, and friendly. Reverend Chun is an amazing, professional, kind, good hearted officiant who cares and believes in the importance and sanctity of marriage. My husband and I are extremely grateful for his services.

We had the most AMAZING experience with Rev. James as our wedding officiant. He went out of his way to create a relaxed and warm environment for our ceremony. He was extremely gracious and flexible with some last minute requests (i.e. leaving some space for the bride to rap her wedding vows; translating for the groom’s mother). The entire process of obtaining our marriage certificate went seamlessly as well! We are so grateful to Rev. James and the role he played in our wedding and would wholeheartedly recommend him to any soon-to-be married couples!

There are no words that can express how patient, kind, and understanding Rev. James Chun is. I had my ceremony at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Like most (or some) brides, I had a situation which ended up having me to be late from the start time. Then, I had to wait for my parents who were late as well. He was very kind about it and asked if there was anything that I wanted regarding about who will walk down with me. Of course I wanted my parents next to me and it was very important that my grandma (the last of seven siblings alive and we recently buried her sister) to walk a short walk down (for picture purposes, to be recognized, and be a part of). VERY understanding! He recommended a nice area where my guests can watch and take pictures with a beautiful background. Also, he responds very quickly to emails and in a professional manner. Although this ceremony was small and intimate, my husband and I will be having a big one to have our families from the mainland to come and watch us recite our vows. You have the option to recite your own vows or to follow him. We decided not to for our intimate one. We will surely use his services again for our big one and recommend him to anyone who can’t decide who they would want to wed them. Thank you Reverend Chun!
