As wedding photographers, we found this venue beautiful to photograph and the staff we worked with was very friendly and professional. There are so many different looks and styles that can be achieved within this gem. We love all the exposed brick and natural light that pours in from the front window. But I think the best part is the beautiful dome above the dance floor! We look forward to being able to photograph more events here.

It's not a fit and finished polished venue. It has a very ruff finish with old brick and floor joist exposed. Moving around in the space can be kinda confusing. It takes a few walks around to get your bearings. They do have an elevator that is good. Being as it's a remodeled 1800's building the structural supports can ruin a person's view of the festivities. See picture. But all in all of that type of decor is in your wheel house go for it. But, give it a good walk through first.

We were blessed to have found The Harris Building for our ceremony and reception. The staff are all phenomenal. Kelsi helped us with literally everything. She has recommendations for all vendors and we ended up using all of the ones she recommended, from food to photography to floral. I got so many compliments from friends and family. They loved having everything is one place and not having to travel. We danced all night and had THE best night. The in-house DJ did a fabulous job. Totally recommend booking this place ASAP before it gets booked. I can’t thank them enough for making our wedding day perfect.

We cannot begin to explain how amazing of an experience we had with the Harris Building! Planning a wedding from North Carolina was not an easy task, but Kelsi and the team at the Harris Building made it easy, stress free, and ensured everything was perfect for our big day. From video calls to emails, their communication was amazing and we could not have done it without Kelsi's attention to detail, organizational skills, and truly caring about us and our day. They recommended caterers, arrangements, suggestions on building setup, and were there every step of the way. Now onto the venue itself. STUNNING. It was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The brick, the ceiling, the decor...everything! Our guests commented all night and for weeks to come on how beautiful it was. We knew when we walked in there when deciding on venues that it was the only place we wanted to get married and we are so happy we did! DJ Brandon kept the dance floor full, helped run everything smoothly for dances, announcement, and send off, and made sure whatever we wanted to hear was played. Great variety of music and such a fun time! If you are looking for a beautiful venue with an absolutely amazing staff, have your wedding here! Kelsi, you are a rockstar!

We recently held our wedding here in September and we could not have asked for anything more! The staff was so helpful every step of the way and were able to offer ideas/help/outside vendors to help create our special day. I am very happy to say I did not notice one thing go wrong (if there even were any) on my wedding day and I know I have the Harris Building staff to partly thank for that!

The Harris Building is well over 100 years old and has had many incarnations, but is currently home to Studio D2D. This is a multi-business venue featuring a coffee and donut shop, live music, salon and wedding reception hall on the second floor. It also hosts various artists during Art Prize, with 2D, 3D and other art works on display

The Harris Building was the perfect venue for our wedding! The building is gorgeous and the floor plan allowed us to have a beautiful wedding and reception all on one floor! This provided all of our guests with a fun and logistically simple day without having to worrying about driving around from ceremony to reception. Kelsi was a joy to work with and was super pleasant and responsive to our questions, concerns, and dreams for the space! She was able to handle the many government mandates and changing guidelines and still help us to have a beautiful and intimate wedding with those we loved the most. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend the Harris Building for your wedding or event!

I had my intimate ceremony and dinner here this past weekend and it was just beautiful! From the moment we toured the venue, we knew that we had to book it for our wedding, and the entire process from start to finish was really amazing! The staff is so friendly and quick to respond to emails/phone calls! We worked closely with Kelsi for all of our event planning and cannot say enough positive things about her! For one, she is super sweet and very genuine! My husband and I felt very comfortable working with her and knew that our special day was in good hands. While we planned a wedding during a global pandemic, The Harris Building truly could not have handled it any better; they were always understanding, supportive, and provided so much help/advice! If you are looking for a venue that is breathtaking, look no further! We are so happy that we had our wedding at the Harris Building!

We were so thankful The Harris Building was available for our wedding reception. It is absolutely beautiful inside and the staff was incredible. Words can't even describe how sweet and helpful Kelsi was. She helped us every step of the way and was totally honest with us when Covid was seeming to affect the wedding. Hannah was very helpful when we were setting up the day before. The staff was amazing during planning, set up, the event, and tear down. And Nino, the DJ, was phenomenal. He played amazing songs and got everyone dancing all night. Can't recommend this place enough.

Not only was the Harris Building a gorgeous place for our big day, the staff is nothing short of incredible. Kelsi was SO responsive with our tons of questions and put any concern we had to rest. The staff the day of could not have been more helpful. They made our day perfect for us. I seriously had the best time of my life and a lot of that was thanks to The Harris Building. The Harris Building is a beautiful venue! My fiancé and I toured here last week, as we are in the process of looking for a venue for our ceremony and reception in 2022. Kelsi provided us with a tour of the space, and she was very friendly, knowledgeable, and personable! We had gone on numerous tours, and did not have the best experiences. She made us feel very comfortable, and we could tell how passionate she felt about the venue! Based on the space itself, and Kelsi's hospitality, we decided to book our wedding here, and we are SO excited!

I would highly recommend working with the Harris Building. Due to Covid, I wasn't able to have my wedding there but they handled everything very well and we were able to figure everything out with them! Kelsi was great and always on top of everything and would answer all my emails so fast. It is such a beautiful place in a perfect location. The whole staff there is great.

I recently got married at the Harris Building and I can honestly say it was the best experience. Not only is it a beautiful location, but it comfortably fit all of our guest (150) and was easy for us to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one spot. This made this super easy on us and our guests. Karri and her team were awesome and took care of everything. I gave them some ideas of decorations I wanted and the way I wanted things to go and they were able to make the space look amazing. I did not have to stress about flowers, decorations, flipping the room, or the flow of the night. My husband, our families/guests, and I were able to enjoy the night and celebrate our marriage. The D.J. was AMAZING. We told him we wanted everyone to be on the dance floor the whole night and that is exactly what we got! He helped with the flow of the night and (getting everyone set up, announcing us, telling people when to give speeches and so on). I can't speak highly enough about our experience and the people at the Harris building. They truly helped make our special day amazing and stress free!

Really great wedding venue. There was included valet which was really beneficial, all the event staff were very professional. The building layout works perfectly for a wedding with really smart areas for the ceremony, reception, cocktail hour and dinner/dancing. It was a bit echoey but nothing unexpectedly so from such an old building. All in all A great venue

If you have an art bone in your body, you will love this place! For a reasonable fee you can create your art here! Which is nice if you don't have the space where you live. It may cost more, but it surely beats a storage unit. This place is cozy and peaceful, always pleasent people to be around. I have yet to attend the coffee with cops but do really want to. Coffee with cops is free, they have many other things going on throughout the month as well. I recommend you stop in and say hi. I'm sure you will like this place!

We unfortunately did not get to use the venue for our wedding due to Covid but we were able to use kelsi and Kristen as our event coordinators for our outdoor wedding and could not have been happier with the results. Kelsi was always willing to help and was able to keep everything running smoothly all day. They even came the day before to coordinate the rehearsal for us. We could not have had such a special and stress free wedding without them! We were also able to use deposits we put down pre Covid so we did not lose out on any money. All their decorating and table sets got so many compliments. We would recommend working with this staff to everyone!

We had our wedding at the harris building this past weekend and everything was perfect! The staff was all very helpful, especially during the room switch from ceremony to reception. We were off taking pictures between & everything was set to go for intros right when we got back! The DJ Bradley was awesome & played all of the songs we requested! He was also very helpful keeping our timeline on track. From the very beginning of planning to the end of the night, everyone was so helpful & made this much less stressful. 12/10 would recommend the harris building! We cannot thank them enough!!!

Very nice venue for a wedding reception! The dinner was delicious, with generous portions. The room was set up for 150 guests and there was plenty of room for all.

This was such a great place for my cousins wedding a reception . The building had exposed brick and open pipes , which gave it an old feel building atmosphere. The staff was awesome and the bars were placed in great locations. If you are looking for an all in one location in DOWNTOWN GRAND RAPIDS .. Please consider this place . Its beautiful!!

I love the atmosphere, the people and the eclectic nature of the various events that take place at Wealthy Theater. Everything from live concerts with great local, regional and national musicians to movies to lectures to the live simulcast of the Inauguration. wow!! Ticket prices are great, the historic theater is beautiful, and the neighborhood has developed into a great place for food and fun. I love it there. I recommended the people to visit Art Prize. This is so good and valuable for people.

We honestly cannot say enough good things about our experience working with the Harris from the very beginning. We first saw the Harris in December 2019 before we had even gotten engaged, and we knew right away that we wanted to have our wedding there. We got engaged the week before COVID shut down the country. We wanted our parents to see the venue before we put down a deposit, so Kelsi immediately rescheduled a tour with us in anticipation of the shutdown for our original tour date. The day after we saw the Harris with our parents, the shutdown was announced. When someone else started thinking of rescheduling their wedding for our desired date, Kelsi reached out to us immediately with our options, and we chose March 6, 2021 instead. As we began to plan our wedding during COVID, we never imagined that a year later our wedding would be a "COVID wedding", but as time continued it was clear that the wedding we had imagined would not be possible. Kelsi and her team were thrown into the unknown of COVID with the rest of us, but she handled it with such poise and grace. With every announcement, Kelsi kept us up-to-date with what it meant for our wedding. Her optimism is what got us through the most difficult times of planning. Every e-mail, phone call or FaceTime that we had with Kelsi always left us in with a more positive outlook. She gave us hope during a time that it was so difficult to find it. Kelsi was always prompt with her communication and provided us with multiple vendor requests when asked. She did not push their rental packages on us, and she always encouraged us to follow our financial needs. She knew our vision very well and she worked with my husband to create a unique set up with the furniture, and she even went out of her way to find decor that was in our colors and to find an arch that we had wanted as well-- all without being asked! She truly went above and beyond to make our vision come to life. When COVID still hadn't gone away, as we got closer to our date Kelsi contacted us in advance to reserve a backup date and went through all of our options with us. She never pressured us in any direction and reminded us always that we needed to do what was best for us-- even if that meant that she would lose our business. Her flexibility put us more at ease knowing that we did not have anything to lose with our decision, and we ultimately decided to still have with our ceremony at the Harris, but we couldn't have our true reception due to numbers restrictions. Kelsi still allowed us to have our first dance, the father-daughter and mother-son dances along with cake cutting to still give us the best experience possible. When we had hair and makeup stylists back out, Kelsi let us come into the Harris early to access the bridal suite. Right before walking down the aisle, when we realized that my recently deceased grandmother's necklace was too small, Kelsi immediately took off her own necklace to try to use as a new chain, but we couldn't get the pendant off the original. Thinking on her feet, she showed me how to make it into a bracelet instead! Kelsi did everything in her power to make our wedding the best day possible for us. With every imperfection that unfolded, she came up with a solution and truly made our day magical. In the moment, it did not feel like a COVID wedding at all. The few guests that we were allowed all said the same thing and they were blown away at the beauty of the Harris. The Harris is an A+ experience!

Went here when we had the local Google IO event. Really neat building. Could use some extra seating in the basement area when it's designed to be a lounge area. Not a lot of great places to sit down for a lunch if it's being brought in.

Updated (March 15, 2018) Bob Dystra's no longer owns the Harris. I recently met the new owners and am genuinely excited by their vision for that space! They are keenly aware of the history of the building, the neighbors (both individuals and businesses), and Grand Rapids' many unmet needs. Honestly, it really feels like they are going to rock it. (Prior comments) An otherwise great locale spoiled by a wide range of solidly racist practices. This town would be better off in every way if the owner, Bob Dykstra, were to remove himself from any involvement surrounding Grand Rapids growth.
