Beautiful Venue Friendly / Attentive Staff Clear Communication Recently I was honored to be the Emcee for an incredible wedding celebration that was hosted at The Tea Room in downtown Des Moines Maddie and the staff were amazing with their communication and answering questions via email to make our load in and setup.a breeze. When you're traveling 5x hours away to entertain a couple and their family, having important details is crucial to ensuring a stress free evening for everyone involved. Let me just say that the room is BEAUTIFUL! Gorgeous crown molding adorning the 16" foot ceilings, the views of downtown Des Moines and the separate "spaces" for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and lounge area are often undercooked as you think about the guest experience for an 8+ hour day. This place is such a gem in the heart of the city and makes me wish we had a similar venue in my hometown. If you're looking at hosting an event in the bridal, corporate or non-profit space, this is an incredible asset to the entire events industry.

We had our wedding reception here, and it was amazing! Sarah and Elizabeth are rockstars and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it, and they kept me sane throughout the planning process in the month or so leading up to it! Guests commented on how stunning it was, the flow is so nice for a wedding, and our pictures inside are gorgeous. Such a pretty, elegant place!

Our son and his new bride hosted their wedding and reception at The Tea Room on 6/25/2022. The staff were helpful and professional. The venue amazingly beautiful! They performed the ceremony and then flipped it for the reception while we enjoyed a cocktail hour on the west side. So many wonderful comments. Also, my husband and I picked up the rental items to return on Monday. Staff let us use their carts to move everything to our car in the basement parking. They helped us find a couple of lost items as well. Highly recommend this venue!

I wish I could give more than five stars because we had a wonderful experience with the staff at The Tea Room. I planned a bridal shower for my sister-in-law while living three hours away from Des Moines. The staff was so helpful and quick to respond to all of the concerns and questions I had. I would love to host more events here in the future because they are simply the best!

We recently had our wedding hosted at The Tea Room. The place is wonderful venue but was hard to find for guests. First we originally were told we would have 5 parking spots by a manager then told otherwise 2 days before. Next is bad communication, we missed an email and relating to alcohol, which we had previously told the event manager what we wanted. Thankfully she was able to get a few things. Another mistake was in contract states that if you make damages to property they charge, we were charged for someone who threw up on concrete twice. Lastly a lie they told us we would settle up at end of night, we had 3 people ask for bar tab amount and told we couldn’t get it until Monday when manager was on duty. Overall, we feel dissatisfied with our experience and blind sided by some of the decisions.

Love the Tea Room! Super elegant space, balcony with an amazing view! This venue is one of my top favorites. It also has a private room for the bride and groom to have a moment to relax with their wedding party and freshen up. Along with a private bathroom. The restoration of the Tea Room is so well done. If you look at the celling you can see the original molding that they were able to save. It is a reminder of the past and how far they have come into bringing new life back into such a beautiful historical space.

I cannot recommend the team at the Tea Room enough! Not only is the venue itself gorgeous and so well-maintained, but the staff were absolute professionals. We recently held our wedding and reception there, and the team helped the day go off without a hitch - it was a seamless transition between all the various rooms, and every single staff person I interacted with was kind and helpful. The room itself it gorgeous with plenty of room for a big celebration - it was wonderful to have the lounging spaces with couches throughout the space for some older guests!

Beautiful place and amazing staff. Probably the best staffed bar I’ve ever seen. Only problem was when my husband left and couldn’t get buzzed back in. Securities pretty tight which is a good thing

It's a very nice looking place! A little hard to find since it's on the 6th floor inside a building. You'll have to find parking on the street or parking garage as I did not see parking for the building.

We had the most extraordinary experience with The Tea Room for our daughter's wedding and reception. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, and Elizabeth and Sarah were fabulous to work with. They have so many wonderful and insightful ideas, and they were extremely helpful with all of our plans. They respond immediately to emails. They handle requests with grace and kindness. And on the day of the wedding, everything was immaculate and went perfectly. Truly, The Tea Room and their staff made the whole wedding a joy to plan. I would absolutely recommend The Tea Room with all my heart!

We had our ceremony and reception here at the end of May and can’t say enough good things about the tea room and their staff! Elizabeth and Sarah were so helpful and responded quickly to all of our questions (we had many as we were trying to plan while covid-19 guidelines were constantly changing) and accommodated even our smallest requests, I always felt like a priority and they were very flexible for scheduling meetings. Everything went so smoothly the day of our event, the staff were great and we had so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was. It poured rain during our ceremony which was beautiful with all the big windows, then during reception the weather cleared up and we had all the balconies open which was so nice for our guests to step out for fresh air. We are so happy with our venue choice. If you’re looking for a classic, historic, elegant venue look no further!

My husband and I were married at The Tea Room this past July and had a wonderful experience. Planning a wedding in the midst of COVID was difficult and Elizabeth and her team helped make the experience less stressful. Elizabeth was extremely helpful answering all questions we had and was very prompt in her responsiveness. She met with us several times to make sure a plan was in place and to make adjustments as needed. The day went smoothly and everything was organized. We had many compliments from our guests on how professional and polite the staff was. The venue is absolutely beautiful. We would highly recommend this venue to all.

The Tea Room was the site for our wedding ceremony and reception. I felt that the venue could not have been more perfect. It takes very little decoration because the venue is naturally beautiful on its own. Even more than that, the staff is wonderful and helped every step of the way. They were always available to discuss on the phone and answered emails quickly about all my silly questions and concerns. Can’t say enough positive things about this beautiful space!

My wife and I had our wedding at the Tea Room back in November and the experience was excellent. From the first time we toured to leaving for the night of our wedding, the staff were incredibly helpful and professional. They were able to work with us to solve even the slightest of problems, and had excellent suggestions on layout, timings, drinks, and everything in between. The venue itself is detailed and beautiful, and with a bit of decorations (we went minimal) it looks very sophisticated and timeless. We had our ceremony in the main room, and they were able to flip it for dinner in an hour, giving us plenty of time (but not overly long) for a cocktail hour. They have audio setup in house which was helpful for the ceremony, as well as projector equipment that we were able to use for a slideshow. Overall, fantastic location to host or attend an event! If I did have to make a suggestion, I would say investing in a cart or two for clients to use for bringing in and out items would be beneficial for all especially since the parking is slightly lacking.

First off, WOW this venue is incredibly stunning. My wedding videography company (Newlyweds Cinema) worked with Sarah and her team over at The Tea Room for one of our couples wedding day. The experience with her and her team was amazing. Everyone was friendly and great at collaborateing with the other vendors. The lighting in the room is perfect which means alot coming from a creative who heavly relys on it. The moment you walk into the space you will want to host your wedding there and you will be so happy that you did!

Beautiful venue for weddings and celebrations. I have personally created a number of wedding cakes for couples that have their reception here, and the space it always gorgeous and memorable. Also, as someone who sees behind the scenes, I can tell you that the staff here is passionate, wonderful, and professional.

Our Annual Credit Union member meeting was held on June 16, 2018 in The Tea Room for the first time in 15 years. What a beautiful morning to enjoy the great pains taken to restore this Des Moines Land Mark. The staff could not have been any better from the planning stages to the clean up of the meeting, they were professional, friendly and everything we wanted/expected them to be. Very well done Tea Room Staff!

I had not been in the Younkers tea room since the fire. It looks largely the same, and brought back lots of great memories of chicken salad and sticky buns. But the Friday afternoon event I went to was just drinks. It is fun to stroll around on the 6th floor and remember what the Tea Room used to be like. Recommend stopping by sometime.

It was great to have a Mother's Day event there. So nice to be back in the tea room after a closed so many years ago. The event we went to was very overpriced. The food was okay but not worth the money we paid for it. The entertainment was very fun and kept us laughing.
