DC Star Driving School is a great driving school in D.C. I would recommend Mr.Teddy to beginner drivers. He is very professional and helpful. DC Star Driving school helped me pass my test. Did 3 (2hr) sessions with them and the 1 hr session before my test and I passed with a 96/100!!! They made sure I was skilled and also confident enough in my skills to make sure I’d be a good driver. I definitely recommend this place.

I was very nervous about learning to drive as an older student, but Mr. Ish gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to succeed. On the day of my test I also had an hour lesson from Mr. Teddy. His last-minute tips for adjusting the car during parallel parking were gold -- I passed my test easily, something I couldn't have imagined just a few months ago. I only used their car for my driving test but honestly I wish I had taken lessons from them instead of through the other school! Extremely communicative, punctual and helpful. Mr. Teddy was there with the car and even give me some quick pointers. It was reassuring to have Mr.Teddy there encouraging you before your test (again mind you I had not taken lessons with them)! I would highly recommend them for lessons since based on my very limited experience they were extremely professional, communicative, helpful and nice!

This New Yorker FINALLY got her driver's license at 35! After failing a few times before, DC Star Driving School gave me the skills and confidence to pass my the road test. DC Star is simply a 5-star driving school. I am specifically thankful for My instructor “Mr. Teddy.” He is calm and knowledgeable. Parallel parking is now on the driving exam, and Today I passed with a 100%. The examiner was impressed, but I just followed Mr. Teddy’s 3-step process, and it was easy!

If I could give a million stars I would. Choosing DC Star Driving School was one of the best decisions I’ve made . I took a few driving lessons with another company in DC years ago and didn’t pass the road test . I’ll admit I gave up the thought of driving again . However when I signed up with DC Star , Mr. Ish and Mr.Teddy gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed and I passed the road test today. This is a great driving school. Passed the test after 10+1h with th. The instructors are relaxed and helpful. After a slightly confusing process online to book classes, comunciation and scheduling is easy and smooth. I also recommend to rent a car with them to pass the actual test, with a 1h warm up lesson before. I heard people stressing about parallel parking, but don't, it's easy, three steps, they explain it to you very effectively. The cars they use are good too. Go with them!

I'm so thankful that I took lessons with DC Star. As others have mentioned, the instructors are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. I had zero driving experience, and Mr. Ish did a phenomenal job teaching me everything I needed to successfully pass the road test, as well as provided great strategies for safe, defensive city-driving. On the day of my exam, Mr. Teddy excellently refreshed me on what I needed to know for the test. With all the great information I obtained from Mr. Ish & Mr. Teddy, I scored a 93% on the driver's assessment! Yay! I absolutely love DC Star driving school. I have received immense assistance from the instructors, who are genuinely caring. I believe I was able to pass my exam because my instructor taught me well and showed me exactly what to expect during the exam. I had actually failed my road test the first time around because I didn't listen to directions carefully, but during that time my instructor,Tadiwos,was very encouraging and supportive. He told me not to beat my self up and to just practice more to pass it next time, which I did. I recommend this driving school to everyone because the instructors are amazing and they will enable you to successfully learn how to drive !

I cannot imagine a better driving school. I am an immigrant from New Zealand who never got my license back home, and had to start almost from scratch, in my mid 30s, with Mr Ish, the amazing instructor here. Mr Ish not only gave extremely clear instructions and coaching, he also understood the driving experience very well from the learner's perspective so was able to provide even better support and encouragement. This place is the best to learn driving from! I didn’t know anything about driving and now I’ve also passed my road test with just 10 hours of instruction. Mr. Ish is the best and he was my instructor for 10 hours and Mr. Teddy was my instructor before the exam. This is the best driving school you can ever have. Mr. Ike, who was my instructor during the 1 hour session before my test, helped me with my confidence before I took the road test. Both of the instructors were very helpful. I just want to say this has been an amazing experience with professional Staff, easy payment and exceptional service. I needed to use a car for a drivers test and the car was nice and clean. My invoice came to me on time and was correct I appreciate all of the work they put into making the transition smooth. I also got a lesson from the instructor who was calm and patient I was relaxed and got my license thanks to the preparation. I definitely would utilize all services when becoming a first time driver !

I passed my test with 8 lessons but I think I probably could have passed sooner- I was just being super cautious. They work really hard, are punctual, flexible and affordable! I highly recommend Dc Star because Teddy is a great instructor he was patient with me and he is really nice . He told me i was ready to take the test after 3 sessions of training and he even scheduled my appointment. I PASSED YAY!. After googling driving schools in DC , and coming across a few, I stumbled upon DC Star Driving School, i was pleasantly surprised when I saw they had all 5 star reviews. I decided to take a chance, and book some driving hours. Mr. Ish was an incredible instructor, he gave me the confidence, and tips I needed to pass my road test yesterday, and get my license. I only did 6 hours of driving lessons with him ( plus one hour of pre- training before my test ). I passed my road test yesterday on the first try, and I could not be happier that I invested my time and money into DC Star Driving School. I would highly recommend this driving school to anybody wanting to get there license in the DC area. I had NEVER been behind the wheel of a car before my first lesson with Mr. Ish, and I was very happy at how quick I picked up the information, and passed my road test. The teacher, Mr. Thomas was very patient and helped me to correct my mistakes on the spot. I wasn't confident in using the signals. I was really pleasantly surprised by DC Star Driving School. I stopped driving over five years ago, immediately after getting my license, because I had very bad anxiety. I was worried when I first booked a lesson at DC Star that I would have a panic attack the moment I got behind the wheel, or that my instructor would be judgy about my situation. But Mr. Ish was very understanding and helped me through my anxiety so I could have a successful lesson. He's a great instructor, particularly for older students!

Thanks to DC Star I'm finally back behind the wheel! My instructor, Mr. Ish, was patient, friendly, funny and highly qualified. Before I went to DC Star I haven't been driving a car for 15 years. I selected this school because of all the positive reviews I’ve read online. However, to fully understand how great DC Driving School is, I’ll suggest that you sign up yourself. I expected DC Driving School to be great. But, the school was well beyond that; I signed up for a total of four hours of behind the wheel training. During those hours Mr. Ish was my instructor. I wasn’t very confident. However, Mr. Ish – with all his positive reinforcement quickly canceled any negative emotion that I was having. He was very knowledgeable and he’s very passionate about teaching and informing me on the skills I needed to make my test day a success. He quickly made note of my learning style and as a result he was able to explain things in a way that I could not only understand, but remember. I also purchased the car for my test date along with one hour of driving instruction prior to the test. For that, my instructor was Mr. Teddy. Mr. Teddy was great at informing me on what to expect during the test. He not only informed me on what I was doing correctly but we quickly went over those things that I needed to improve. We have never met prior to the test. But, that had no restriction on him wanting me to pass my driving exam. He cared just as much as I did; and I thought that was very important. He noticed by observation that I was nervous. He then explained the importance of me remaining calm during the exam. As a result of Mr. Ish and Mr. Teddys’ passion and instruction. I passed my test…ON THE 1ST TRY! I couldn’t recommend DC Driving School enough!

I googled “good driving schools around the DC area” and a few driving schools came up. Out of those I found only a couple of driving schools that have 5 star reviews. One of them was Ethio Star Driving School. I called the number and someone actually picked up their phone. They have a great customer service. Since I am a DC resident the guy gave me the DC Star Driving School instructor number and we set up a date to start my lesson. I was a first time driver so I was not sure what kind of experience was waiting for me and I was a bit anxious and hesitant about the whole thing. I am the kind of person who learns best when they teach me very calmly and in detail. To my great delight I found Tadiwos, my newfound driving instructor to be a very patient, and professional guy. He was the picture of cool, calm and collected and I was very encouraged by that. He puts you in your comfort zone immediately. He gives excellent and clear instructions that are detailed and has a way of explaining things in a way you can get them easily. He sensed what I needed to work on and impressed those things on me patiently while encouraging me the whole time. I am very grateful for his instructions and his personality. He is an excellent instructor. I had a great driving experience. They booked my Road Test for me and I passed my Road Test on the first try in a very short time. I am giving this driving school five stars. I highly recommend them.

So far I had three hours of driving. Before I got into Mr Teddy's car I have never been behind a wheel before.. I was so nervous and almost freaked out. But Mr Teddy is so patient and encouraging. He took me to a more quiet neighboorhood so i could just gain a little confidence. After my first hour I knew I wanted to come back to learn from him. I did two hours of driving yesterday. I can't wait to go back next week Friday. :)

I was driving my friends and family car but DC STAR taught me more about lane changing, proper signal use and signs and regulations....I improved my fear of parking lol they have the cheapest behind the wheel training but their Quality of service is Exquisite. Omg. Teddy is the real MVP. I have really bad anxiety. He kept me calm in sticky situations. He has a great personality and you can tell he loves what he does. I'm glad I chose DC Star....I had a road test last Friday..scheduled an hour practice driving prior to my road test...met Teddy who was very professional and we chatted like we've known each other for years, at DMV. But because DMV was an hour behind schedule, Hailu took me out to practice, who was excellent. I haven't drove in long time so I was very nervous on top of it was pouring down Raining which made extra nervous..nevertheless Hailu was great he calmed my nerves.
