Fantastic Driving Lessons! I took 9 lessons because I had absolutely zero driving experience, and by the final lesson driving felt like second nature! My instructor Rosie was very friendly, and focused on exactly what I needed to improve on, while reinforcing the things I was getting right. She not only prepared me for the driving test, but also taught me how to handle myself on the road in general. I looked forward to every session, and I'd definitely recommend this school to anyone who's looking to learn how to drive. UPDATE: I just passed my driving test thanks to Alfred, who gave me a few pointers and practice on the way to the DMV.

The driving school is very professional on booking classes, confirming timing and tracking your progress through scorecard. Alfred is a great instructor. He is patient, encouraging and fun - that truly made me enjoy the learning and driving. I never had driving experiences before but was able to pass the exam for the first time and started driving with confidence in one month. I worked with a few other instructors and the experiences were great too. Highly recommend.

I want to start out by saying the people here are amazing! I heard about this driving school through so many friends, coworkers and family. As soon as I headed down there to sign up the front desk Lady was super nice and so flexible to how I wanted to schedule my lessons. I purchased the plan where you have 3 two hour sessions. My first lesson was with Pye and she was so patient and nice. She made me feel so comfortable with my first driving lesson and talked me all the way through it. The next 2 lessons I had were with Bree and she really helped me work on the areas of driving I wasn’t to comfortable with which were rights hand turning and left turns at green lights (judgement). I scheduled my last session with Bree a couple hours before my actual test at the DMV. She really helped me feel comfortable and confident before my driving test! I recommend to choose Pye or Bree for your lessons, they will help you out so much! I’m so happy to have passed my test.

South Bay Driving School is the best! From my initial phone interaction with the owner and through my 3 driving lessons with the AMAZING instructor, Rosie, I can't say enough great things about my experience. Rosie was on time for every lesson, kind, patient, knowledgeable, and made things light and fun. After those three lessons, I passed my Driving Test at the DMV! I used South Bay Driving School's option to be escorted by their Instructor Alfred, and test in their vehicle. Using this service and having Alfred there to walk me through the process, combined with the skills that Rosie taught me, was the perfect combination! I will definitely recommend Rosie, Alfred, and South Bay Driving School to all of my friends!

I just completed my instructional driving hours with the instructor Rosie and I couldn't have asked for better mentor to drive with and learn from. I had learned from back in September when I had hardly started to drive and I remember how nervous I was when we began driving. I also remember how easy it was to become comfortable at the wheel instead of fearing it all the time. This most recent lesson wasn't any different, in fact, it was even better since I had already a lot more familiarity with the road. I was still nervous, of course, but Ms. Rosie's amiable and warm personality helped me to just enjoy being able to cruise along streets against the crisp ocean breeze. Despite her friendliness, Ms. Rosie does have a sharp eye for watching on how you drive and corrects it if needed. I wish that more teachers could be as genuinely concerned about how students learn(?) and encouraging about what they teach like Ms. Rosie. South Bay Driving School has been a wonderful experience for me. My instructors were all eager that I learn the abilities I needed to pass the test. It's critical to pay attention to what they're saying because they already know what will be on the test, and all they want is to see you succeed as a driver. My instructors, Alfred and Gabriel, were a key factor in helping me become a more confident and skilled driver. They taught me skills like smooth lane changes, parallel parking, reversing, and pulling into parking spots, all of which helped me pass my driving test on the first try. Without South Bay Driving school I do not think I would have passed the driving test.

If you are going to choose South Bay Driving School and want to pass the test, I highly recommend that you request for Teresa to be your instructor. She is the best! She is awesome and teaches you tricks and tips to help you pass the test. She teaches you how to be a safe driver and has a really positive vibe. Teresa remains calm during the practice and tells you exactly how it is and helps you improve on the things you need to. She is one of those instructors that you can tell really cares for her students and does everything in her power to make sure you pass the license test. Best driving instructor ever!

I chose South Bay Driving School because I had seen the building off the corner of PCH and Madison for years. Alfred at South Bay Driving School is a breath of fresh air. This day was difficult for me because I haven’t driven for more than a year due to my recovery from two brain surgeries for an aneurysm and brain tumor that I had performed in Germany away from Wrestling age-group wrestling Worlds in Bulgaria (I was Med-evacuated to Frankfurt once the aneurysm and brain tumor were found). Alfred made me feel at-ease, and is an encyclopedia of driving knowledge. Your day will be much better once you drive with him!

Andrea was really quick to reply. I think she got back to me at like 10pm on a Sunday when I sent in a question a couple hours before that. Ali was a great instructor to teach me how to drive stick. I wanted to find an instructor to teach me and not someone with a stick car and wanted to make some cash. It was worthwhile driving a bit to Torrance to take the lesson. We covered all of driving situations and he was patient with me. Highly recommended

I had 3 experiences with her before going and receiving my license, and each day she was there on time with a smile on her face and a real knowledge of how to drive safely and responsibly. For a decade I worked on the other end providing exceptional services to IT giants I know how to keep customers Loyal to the company and having them be the main advertisers of the company. Now I am on the other end being the recipient of the Service. I deliver great service , and so I do Expect a very high standard of service ! She reigns on Topnotch driving instructions. Her name is Rosie.I waited for her for almost a month as she has so many bookings. She is an Amazing driving Coach! Efficient, Stretched me beyond my Imagination, Organized, Always punctual , Cheerful, Inspiring, Wholeheartedly dedicated, Bold yet Cautious as she always encourage Defensive driving. On my 2nd or third lesson with her I have already been confident driving on the freeway with my husband. If every Instructor is like her. Getting a DMV license would be a breeze. Today 1.18.21 I got my DL. The Examiner told me I was his 8th and examinee that day , and I excelled . He gave me 100% passed! I did my homework firstly with driving School , South Bay Driving has professional, patient, happy people. i had a great time with my instructor Teresa, she was smart and witty. she made me feel comfortable when i was driving around. it had been my first time behind the wheel, and i was in busy traffic. He made me feel safe and helped me learn new tricks to be steady and to not drift. shes a great instructor, if you get her let her know who sent you. ;) Any who she deserves 5 stars because she did great and i'm confident behind the wheel now. Ali is the best teaching manual/stick shift. Took a 2 hour lesson for $160 and it was great. Started practicing in a parking lot, then eventually moved onto the streets, and then eventually to the hills. Awesome and patient dude and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn.

I contacted the South Bay Driving School after my mom and I agreed that having my mom teach me how to drive was not going to allow me to pass my driver's test for the second time. I was paired with Teresa who is the best driving instructor at the school. She is patient, funny, and calm when I am driving which allows me to fully grasp the rules of driving. My daughter Maya had a great experience. Teresa was always supportive and made sure to point out my daughter's errors so she could correct them and then to praise her when she did things correctly. She also said her mother (that's me) did a good job of training her initially, which I really appreciated because it helped my daughter understand the value of ALL driver's training. Today was my first lesson in driving and I was really nervous in the beginning. My instructor Teresa, was incredibly helpful and showed me some tricks about keeping the car from drifting(though I still had some trouble with it). I found my instructor Ali to be a phenomenal teacher- patient, thorough, and very clear with his explanations. In two hours he taught me how to drive a manual to the point where I feel comfortable borrowing a friend's to practice. He is somebody who has developed a great and reliable method for teaching but still pays enough attention to tailor his instruction to the needs of the student. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to learn anything regarding driving- he even informed me of some traffic laws I was unaware of! Kudos to an excellent teacher.

I had around 17 classes in this school because there was no possibility for me to practice with my own car. So to pass the test in DMV I totally relied on the lessons with instructors. I passed the test in Torrance with 5 mistakes. Overall I am happy with the result. What I liked about this school in comparison with Avers Driving School and Behind the Wheels Driving School (Manhattan Beach) is that instructors are more professional and South Bay school uses very convenient app to book lessons and upload the scorecards. There is no need to call their office every time when you need to reschedule the lessons. Highly recommend!

I took a manual transmission (stick-shift) lesson here and it was a great experience. I'm a seasoned adult driver with no real stick-shift skills and after two hours I felt confident enough with what I learned to operate a manual car. The instructor was very professional and had a great teaching style. He was very patient and taught the fundamentals and helped to bolster my confidence to go from putting around an empty parking lot to 5th gear in full traffic within two hours. I recommend this school for all drivers who want to learn the right way.

Amazing experience! Took a stick shift lesson with Ali - he is the best. I have taken two other stick shift lessons with two other instructors (in New York where I live) and by far Ali was my favorite BY FAR. I left feeling more confident than any other lessons, and feeling like I did more driving in a variety of locations. He explained everything so I understood easily and I never felt overwhelmed. My other lessons either didn't explain well so I stalled a bunch or tried to tell me how the whole freaking engine works while sitting in a parking lot without doing a lot of driving. And the price is good in my opinion. If you're thinking about it I highly recommend - ask for Ali.

This school made me feel like an L.A. celebrity when I signed my son up for lessons. Since we moved in from Virginia my son had above average practice time but with a few different rules in his head. I had AJ as an instructor for two lessons (forgot the name of the individual who administered me for my first lesson). He was very friendly and always engaged in conversations with me, making me feel very comfortable while driving. He also taught me some driving techniques that were not required for the driving test, such as parallel parking and roundabouts. After only four hours under his mentorship, I passed my driving test on my first attempt! Overall, I think the money spent on lessons with AJ were worth every penny, and I recommend anyone reading this to get him as your instructor, if possible.

I felt a little nervous, but as the lesson went on I felt more comfortable driving. I started driving at Palos Verdes, proceeded through San Pedro and ended at Torrance. I learned how to correctly turn and use hand positions to make driving easier, and I also learned to signal. Rosie was a really kind, helpful and cool instructor. I had my first instructor for 6 hours and then went in to the test. I failed. I failed due to a insta-fail, so I thought that I just got unlucky. I went in the test again, but I failed another time. The tester told me about everything I was doing wrong, and I do not remember going over more than half of those points with my instructor. I decided to get a different instructor, and I luckily got coach Teresa. We had one lesson, and she really taught me how to drive. She taught me more in 2 hours than what I learned in 6 hours with the previous. I easily passed my next test, and I'm still doing traffic checks. My brother will definitely have her as an instructor if she is still working.

Seriously, beware of AAA, instructors are over worked which effects instruction quality. Theresa is such a gem and a huge asset to this driving school. Her knowledge based about road rules, behind the wheel driving and what the DMV is looking for when you take the test is unbelievable. She has such a calming and easy going personality. Most importantly, she is HONEST about your driving skills. She wants you to be a strong and defensive driver. She will point out weak points and help you to correct them. I was so stressed out because I failed my driving test twice.(Thanks AAA). With her patience and my serious hard work I passed my test. I guess "Third times the CHARM". Thanks Theresa 

She went above and beyond all I would've EVER dreamed a driving instructor to be. I imagined a strict person just training because they have to but Teresa was the best! She didn't just train you-she developed a relationship. While she in a professional way makes sure you're driving is perfected, she jokes around and makes you laugh! Believe me, nothing you do escapes her eyes! About the time you think she didn't catch you if you forgot to do something she'll turn and say, "Hey! What'd you forget?!!" She has a great way of teaching. She doesn't make you feel stupid for your mistakes . She looks at you with a grin(and twinkle in her eyes)and reminds you to do it next time!! Teresa is very honest(take my word for it;) if she says you're a bad driver, you really are but if she says you're a good driver-you are!! She doesn't lie to you and wants the best for her students! One of my favorite things about her is her care and love for her students. One thing she always told me was, "I love my kids!" And as I got to know her, it was MORE than obvious that she does!! And in return, "her kids" love her! I was sooo glad I asked for her! No offense to anyone else, but Teresa is the best and if you get someone else-you're missing out! Thanks to her I was able to pass my test with flying colors! I finished with NO corrections on my driving! I'll miss the fun I had driving around with her and will miss her extremely, to say the least! Thank you, Teresa for what you did and the memories you gave! I won't forget you-ever!!!
