Vance's driving school is probably the best driving school in Maine at the moment. Rick Vance is incredibly clear and concise with how he teaches, and when he sits down to drive with you he explains everything you do right and everything you do wrong in great detail. He shows you common mistakes new drivers make and small things you can do that greatly improve the quality of your driving and the chance of you passing your driver's test your first time. Would highly recommend.

Rick Vance is a great teacher, his lessons allow me to learn information while also giving me the opportunity to put the knowledge I obtained to real world driving. I'm not always the best at learning new things, but I felt as though Vance's Driving School taught me very well. I understand the rules of the read in a way I never did before!

Rick was very good to work with and I was very very happy with my experience working with him. He was very willing to work with me to get my hours in and was extremely easy to communicate with. I got a 100 on my final quiz and highly encourage anyone looking to do drivers Ed to go with Vance’s.

Rick taught both of my kids how to drive, and years ago myself as well. He’s extremely patient with his teaching, and my kids felt very comfortable driving with Rick. My son had attended another school in town, and he was a nervous wreck! Rick took him on and did some private lessons with him, and he passed the fist time he took his test! We also did test preps for both of the kids, and I felt they were extremely beneficial! My Daughter did the prep with Rick and passed the first time as well. He prepares the kids; she makes them feel at ease. Both of my kids really liked Rick, and I could call him up and he always made time to help the kids. He always found a way to squeeze them in for a lesson. I wouldn’t hesitate to refer anyone to this driving school! Thank you, Rick for being patient, and making the kids feel a level of comfort driving that they needed!

I hired Rick as a prep instructor for my daughter for a few rounds before her test. He was reassuring to her and gave great constructive criticism with room to show improvement after. He was honest and fair. I was not sure she would pass as a nervous mom, but I firmly believe that hiring Rick was the best choice for her and helped her reach her confidence to pass. Absolutely worth the money.

Rick!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time with My daughter. I will start here… she started with Mullens and couldn’t even turn or brake properly. It took her an extra 6months of driving and then prep for her drivers test with another company and a few sessions before. I wasted so much money with Mullens. Wish we had gone to you to start! It all worked out she got her test today first try!!! Thank you so much!! You will forever be in her memory of the day she got her license!!! 💛

My son was getting ready to take his driver's test and we felt a refresher with an instructor would be important. I called all I could find and none returned our call except Rick Vance of Vance's driving school. He offered to talk with my son as he didn't have any availability to take a drive with my son before his upcoming test. He was great with my son and helped him to be prepared and confident. Ultimately my son passed and I am sure it was in part due to the time Rick spent with him. I would highly recommend Vance's.

Vances driving school was a fun educational and fun experience. You’ll be taught how to drive properly and have fun learning. Rick is an awesome teacher all around funny nice guy, he will guide you through the course. During the course you’ll play fun games like jeopardy, watch videos, and most of all no homework!!

Mr. Vance made drivers ed fun. We got to play drivers ed games and there where no crazy lectures. I just had my first driving time today and Mr. Vance was informative and casual at the same time. I would reccomend this school for anyone who wants to have a good time and learn valuable lessons for realistic driving!

Rick did a great job with both of my kids. They both took Rick's test prep lesson and passed their driving test on the first attempt. They felt comfortable with Rick and even thought he was quite funny at times.

Rick is awesome!! My son took drivers ed at Mullens and was lacking in skill. We hired Rick got private lessons and my son learned so much in such a short time! Rick is informative and patient, and has a way of making the student feel comfortable. I would highly recommend Vances driving school and would also recommend the private sessions as they proved to be invaluable.

I highly recommend doing the Road Test Prep. My daughter did it yesterday an hour before her test and it really helped calm her nerves. Vance was very helpful and gave her some great tips. We even used his car. Worth every penny!

Once again, Vance Driving School delivers. Both drivers we sent to this school passed their road test and were told "that was a perfect road test." Both times we utilized the pre-exam road test and it was worth the investment. Vances Driving School is one of the best driving schools in Maine. The classes were exciting and fun for each student. Rick helps engage the students with games and fun activities. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn as much about driving as they can. Do not go to Mullens.

I just got back from driving with an instructor to practice for my road test and he was absolutely Amazing! Years ago I went to Mullen’s but did not proceed with my license Until now. Meeting with the instructor for the first time today he was nice and made me not so nervous. Also he taught me to parallel park! I recommend coming here! Also I did book another appointment as well!

At age 35 I found myself in the situation of having to take my drivers test all over again for medical reasons. As my driving test came closer I became more and more anxious about the road test. I remembered when I was 16 going to Vance's driving school and my parents hiring Rick Vance to take me out right before the test so we could run the course a couple times. So I called and they still offered that. I took him right up on it. From the second I got in the car I knew I had made the right choice. I mean after 20 years I knew I must have formed at least one bad habit! Rick kept me calm and positive the whole time. Because of that, I PASSED! I know now I definitely could not have done it without him. So thank you to Vance's driving school! I would recommend this to anyone, no matter what age. I passed at 16 and 35 with Vance's by my side!

The Instructor is a really experienced driving teacher. With his easy to remember acronyms, ability to make students engaged, and to make sure that his students are prepared for the road test. I highly recommend this school for students that wants a huge understanding of driving, and for parents for his prices.

I went though Rick many years ago never had a problem. Thought it was a great class to the point that I have sent my step Daughter and son though there both driving great and knock on wood accident free. In the next couple months ill be sending my daughter to his class and would highly recommend him.

I was dreading having to take drivers ed, but it ended up being pretty enjoyable. It’s not only fun but the information sticks. He’s always trying to teach us the life lessons of the road and has games to help us memorize for the finals. He knows what he’s doing and doesn’t beat around the bush. You definitely get your money’s worth.

Great place to take driver's ed. Not only is the environment fun and relaxed, you learn everything you need to know plus tips and tricks for when you take your test, and tips for driving in general. When you drive with him you feel safe and he helps you relax and smile despite how nervous you are for your first time driving. Great place would highly recommend!!

I was taught things I would not have been taught at Mullens. Mullens would have taught me nothing and I probably would never would’ve gotten my license, and that is if I was somehow able to be good enough at driving to get my permit. Thanks too Rick I know lots of things I need too in order to pass my test. I’m very confident in how I will do and I can’t wait to drive. 👍🏽

We are constantly hearing from students and their parents who were very upset and had horrible experiences with Mullens. I disagree with Mrs. Popov. Why not share the truths. People should know what to expect if they choose his school. I can't help it if students who attend The Driving School have issues. Avoid them and you will not have to deal with them. Vance's teaches more!
