Loved the ease of setting up appointments online and being able to select same instructor for each lesson. My son loved Greg and felt comfortable driving with him. Really loved getting a report after each lesson so we knew what he was doing well and what he needed to work on. Highly recommend. This was our 2nd child using them. Loved how they would pick them up from school or a practice and drive them around and would drive back to the house or even to practice.. made my life easier!

We had a great experience at DDA! We felt my daughter needed just a little bit of help to feel comfortable testing and ended up scheduling one two hour lesson with testing done at the end of it. Ben was her instructor and was incredibly kind, encouraging and professional. He made my daughter feel comfortable and prepared to take her driving test. Would and will highly recommend DDA!

The instructor, Denise, totally prepared my daughter for her drivers test. Denise was an absolutely top notch instructor! Joe administered the test and was great as well. They seemed to emanate a sense of calmness and confidence, which few that were testing while I was waiting seemed to need. I can't say enough great things about Defensive Driving Academy! My son started off with Philip Caponi. Excellent instructor and very personable. He would take the time after every lesson to discuss how the session went. A lot of positive reinforcement and he knew what he was doing. For his last session and the test itself, he had Jeff. Just as excellent. My son passed his test first time taking it. Top notch people. We used them for our daughter a few years back and don’t regret hiring them again!!

We had such an amazing experience with Defensive Driving!!! My son had (2) two hour sessions and then (1) hour session before taking his test. We worked with 2 different instructors; Terry and Phil. Such a wonderful experience at Defensive Driving in Newtown Square. Both my 17 year twin girls took some lessons and their test in Newtown Square. The staff are very patient and great with teen drivers. They reviewed lots of helpful safety tips and also did a wonderful break down of what to expect in the test. It really helped alleviate any nervousness they had. Would highly recommend!

We had a great experience with Defensive Drive and Jim (instructor)! My daughter was SO anxious, and had a few unsuccessful attempts on her driving test. One lesson with Jim cured that~ he made her feel calm and confident and she passed the test with flying colors! Thank you, Defensive Driving! I can't say enough good things about the Defensive Driving Academy in Newtown Square! All three of our daughters have taken the 6 hours of behind the wheel lessons and also took their tests with a defensive driving instructor and each of them had a very positive experience. Our youngest just passed her license test yesterday and she had both Joyce and Terry as instructors for her lessons. Both of them put her at ease right away, gave her all kinds of tips and tricks for lane changes, merges, parallel parking etc, and overall, made the driving lessons fun! She felt confident and ready to take her test when the time came! Thank you Defensive Driving Academy!

This is the third time we used DDA and have been very satisfied with the experience. The entire team is very courteous and professional. We really appreciate the emphasis on driving safety for new drivers and the attention to detail. Our instructor Heath Harris was very knowledgeable and very effective at correcting the bad driving habits taught by parent drivers. I would highly recommend DDA for all young new drivers.

Just passed my driving test here! The instructor during the test was really nice and understanding. He was very considerate and patient when I had some trouble interpreting English instructions since its not my native language. They even let me practice parking minutes before I took the test. Highly recommended!

My daughter did an express parallel parking lesson as well as her test at the Exton Auto Lenders location. The testing location was easy to find once we arrived at Auto lenders. She had Greg and Sal as instructors, and Sal did her test. Both gentlemen were very friendly and helped ease her anxiousness for her test. Her test went smoothly and she passed on her first try! I would highly recommend using DDA for lessons and testing. Their process for setting up lessons and testing is very easy and their prices are very reasonable.

DDA provided an excellent experience. My instructor, Joyce, gave great pointers to improve my driving, diagramming tips for me because she knew I learn visually, and created a comfortable environment behind the wheel -- she's lovely to talk with. I'd recommend DDA for its effectiveness and emphasis on driving defensively. Also, taking the test with them was definitely a plus.

We have used DDA for all 3 of our sons. Completely different driving styles and the instructors adjusted based on their style. One more aggressive and overly confident and one very anxious. Mark Hogan was awesome! My son felt confident and completely comfortable with Mark. He was very calm and only stepped in as truly needed building his confidence with each session. As a parent of a child who totaled a car (prior to DDA lessons) this extra training was worth every penny. 14 years later not a single issue thanks to DDA!

My experience here was fine but not totally stellar. I think some people will have no problem with this place and find it great. I would somewhat recommend it to anybody who is more outgoing and is already somewhat confident with driving. If you are kind of shy like me you may not be super into it. Also what I signed up for was the 4 lesson teen package with driving test on the 4th lesson. Positives: -I passed my test. If you are looking for a place that will go kinda easy on you when you take the test... do it here -Driving instructors always showed up on time -I learned how to merge on a highway :) Negatives: -The model of the car sometimes changed between sessions so when I would get asked how to do stuff I wouldn't know how sometimes because the car was a different model. -There were a lot of things listed on the report card that I wasn't really taught, especially some of the safety things. I was hoping to learn more of the safety things but I feel like all of my instructors except one didn't really go into that. -I was told there was a foolproof system for learning how to parallel park. Which there was! but it relies specifically on the cones they use during the test. So it works well during the test (cool) but I still don't actually know how to parallel park between two cars. Things to consider (mostly things I didn't enjoy but you might be fine with it) -All the instructors I had were kind of chatty. This is totally fine but just to consider if you are kind of shy like me and not good at talking to people and also driving at the same time (but also are too awkward to be like "can we be quiet") -One of the instructors was lowkey (and by lowkey I actually mean he just was) sharing his opinions about covid and discrimination (or in the instructors belief lack of discrimination) in police stops and it was awkward. Whether or not the student agrees or disagrees those are both quite political issues that many people have strong opinions on and I feel like it does not need to be brought up during a driving lesson. I did not explicitly bring up or ask about his opinion on either of those topics he just got into the realm of hot button issues himself and then I was trying to focus on driving and also be like um how do I respond to this. Also same instructor said my mom was a "cutie" which was kinda weird. Like bro how do I respond to that. Also another separate instructor said the "R" word (not to me about some random dude outside) which some people may not have a problem with but some other people are rightfully very sensitive to that as it is becoming more and more recognized as derogatory and not to be said. So I did not like that. Basically I just think some of the instructors could have watched what they said better and it made me kinda uncomfortable. (also hopefully it is fine that I said this, I purposely didnt say the instructors names because I dont want to be seen as trying to get people in trouble with their jobs, I just hope they recognize they maybe should change their behavior and I hope students who are sensitive to this stuff know before signing up.) -If I'm being honest I feel like the test was maybe TOO easy. I seriously didn't do very good and still passed.

I moved to Exton from Australia. I took 2 lessons with DDA. one adult lesson with Denise and one adult lesson with Rob and subsequently with test. The instructors we soft and curteous in their instructions. The car offered was good. I passed my driving exam and understood PA road rules with no issues. I highly recommend Defensive Driving Academy.

First I want to say I did learn to drive at this school so they will teach you to drive but if i hadn't already prepaid for 4 lessons I would have went with someone else as it wasn't a right fit for me. I'm an adult learner who has always had anxiety about driving and this school wasn’t really helpful to me. I had three different instructors. The first one yelled at me to point that I started crying. The second was great and I would have schedule more if my work schedule allowed. The third was ok but a few times they seemed unattentive and impatient, also they refused to drive me to my job because this school doesn't drive in to Philadelphia for safety reasons and time constraints eventhough my job is near Old City area and 30 mins away so I wasted $80 as I had to cut my lesson short by an hour. Overall I would advise to pay for a consultation first as there are no refunds. I ended up getting my license at another location but as I said they did teach me to drive so it wasn’t a waste of money but I definitively ended up spending more than I otherwise would have.

After an unimpressive start with a driver's teacher who was older, not familiar with our neighborhood and took my daughter out in a few parking lots for less than an hour, we rebounded. John is great, very responsive, and Lucie had a good experience with Dennis as her driving teacher. I got my license in December 2021 and my experience with DDA was great! Good pricing, easy to book online and most importantly all of the instructors I worked with were really nice and very patient. I took most of my lessons with Joyce and she was wonderful, she really helped me to understand how to navigate certain scenarios. I also took 1 lesson with Mike ( I believe that was his name) and he was really great too! I forgot both gentleman's names who gave me lessons before the test and the instructor who actually gave the test, but they were very nice and informative. They both made me feel comfortable about taking the test. I was super calm and confident because of them. I highly recommend DDA and do not wait to book, because they get booked up pretty quickly!!

We had Terri, she was fantastic! My daughter enjoyed learning to drive with her, she was informative, compassionate, and very good at giving directions in a calm manner. My daughter gained confidence and learned great tips during each driving session. Highly recommend this driving school!!

If you are nervous about taking your driving test at your local DMV this is the best alternative. The coaches here are great. I had 6 hours of behind the wheel practice with Nathan who was a solid instructor. He taught me alot and safe driving techniques. On test day I practiced with Chris who taught me a very important parallel parking trick to get it right every time. He was also very calm and encouraging which helped me remain calm during the practice session. And finally I tested with Lisa who was a very nice lady and I still managed to learn something from her which is not to get too close to cars in front of me! Luckily I still passed. Overall great driving school. I would 100% recommend it!

I took all my lessons with Mike M. He is super helpful and was a great teacher! I made a point to have him be my only driving instructor because he was so easy to learn from and was very patient and encouraging! The people at Newtown square are great to learn from and to test with.

What a great organization! I'm so happy I sent my son for lessons. It was so easy and worth the money. I especially liked the ease of setting up the final lesson along with the driver's test. It's amazing that he was taught parallel parking a few minutes before the test and picked it up so quickly. I'm happy he learned DDA's technique. The test instructor, Terry, was wonderful! My son was nervous, but once Terry got in the car, she joked with him and put his mind at ease. She was so informative and has a great personality. I will definitely be sending my other children to DDA within the next year or so.

The lesson with Jen was amazing and very comfortable. Jen gives you an overview of the car to make sure you know everything and reminds you of the common, but easily forgotten rules of driving. The instructors were knowledgeable, friendly, and great teachers. You could get your license at the DMV or you could get your license through DDA and actually enjoy the experience!

Our son took the 2 hour instruction/test package. Joyce was his instructor. She was so friendly and welcoming and really put him at ease - he was able to get some extra practice on parallel parking as well as simulated test conditions. This made the actual test pretty smooth and uneventful.

Super important!!! Defensive Driving Academy works with individuals that have physical and/or learning disabilities and/or impairments, they also work very well with nervous testers. There is a information page on their website for registration so that the parent/student/driver can fill out. My son failed on his first attempt at the DMV. We then went looking for other alternatives that are certified by the state of PA, and that was due to my son having the issues that I have noted above and that is more of an atmosphere that is conducive and professional. Hence we found and went to Defensive Driving (DDA) for my son's driver road test. They DDA are absolutely fantastic and calming. The entire staff is just phenomenal from beginning of the process to end of the process. Many thanks to Examiner Joyce for your upmost professionalism, calming nature, and feedback that you provided us. Defensive Driving Academy is the ONLY way to go!!!!!! We have used DDA twice so far, with both a confident and non-confident new driver and they were great in both situations. The instructors are great at what they do and have so much patience with the kids. We will be calling them again when the 3rd kid is ready to learn to drive!

I recently got my license. I got 6 hour worth of driving course with my Maurice (Moe). He was amazing teacher. Very patience, and supportive. He would definitely be the teacher I would suggest everyone else to get! I had put off on getting my driving license due to communication access as a Deaf person and Maurice was able to work with me being able to use gesture, white board and being very patience. It was a bonus when the exam came I had a examiner, Terry who knew some signs that made the exam easier to take since she was able to sign! I'll definitely refer my friends and family to go there! 10/10 highly recommend the DDA. As a new driver I felt much more at ease with an experienced, sharp eyed instructor by my side guiding me and giving me tips along the way. All the staff I met were friendly but I especially liked my coach, Michael F. He was patient and encouraging, and he always kept his cool even when I messed up or he had to repeat himself. I was able to request him for every lesson which was nice because he knew my strengths and weaknesses and what I needed work on the most. As he taught he explained everything in detail and in a way that will stick with me, and he was able to answer all my questions and provide a solution to every scenario I asked him about. He went above and beyond to make sure I was as prepared as possible for test day, and I feel much more confident to hit the road safely after being taught by a professional like him.

Terry was always enthusiastic and had a positive attitude - she really made my daughter feel at ease. Terry's patience really aided my very novice daughter, and helped her rapidly progress as a driver. We also really liked that the road test was given through the program.

Excellent communication, patience, and friendly. We were able to have my son practice on the site parallel parking, which was very helpful. The gentleman in the photo (I can't remember his name) was kind enough to print out an essential document needed for the test. I would recommend this place to everyone. I waited to get my license till my 20’s because of driving anxiety and some physical challenges that make driving more difficult. Everyone here was so patient and calm I would not have been able to pass my test if it wasn’t for the great coaches particularly Ashley, and Greg. They were so nice and helpful (especially on test day to calm my nerves) My only slight criticism is that I wish there was more communication between the different coaches between lessons. Other than that I am so happy I went with DDA. Definitely worth the money especially if you have anxiety around driving.

I had 6 hours of behind the wheels practices and both of my coaches were awesome! Coach Terry has helped me improve lane switching and helped me relax on the highways and off the highways. Coach Dino has taught me the easiest way to parallel park and gently guide you through each procedure of the test. He made me feel a lot better by reassuring me every time that I was doing it right. Both have taught me to drive safely and make me relaxed but alert on the roads. They’re the best!

I failed my driving test twice at regular penndot services because I was so nervous and also partially not prepared. Defense Driving Academy calmed my nerves made me feel like I was driving with a family meme we and that I was going to pass the test no problem. I highly recommend taking your driving test here and if you are nervous about testing I also recommend doing the 30 min practice test before taking the test because as long as you follow what they say during the practice test you will pass you actual test no problem. This is one of the best and easy ways to get your license and the scheduling is so fast and easy. I highly recommend taking you driving exam with them. I wish I knew about it earlier!

Like every 16/you 17 yr old, the driver license test is nerve wracking. From the moment they met you could see the weight literally lift off his shoulders. The staff members here are super friendly and easy-going, and taking the test here turned out to be way less stressful that I thought it was going to be going in to it. Also the scheduling was FAST. When I took my test we were able to schedule the exam as soon as a few days out from finding out about this place, whereas my backup Penndot test could only be scheduled a month out at the time. 10/10 absolutely recommend these guys. Three of four coaches were excellent. Calm, competent, and experienced. The teaching to the test along with the convenience of having the test done on site is worth a lot. At the core of what the DDA offers, this is excellent quality for the money. Office management and communications, on the other hand, could be improved significantly. Three of four lessons started 15-45 minutes late. Notices about the delay either did not occur (in one case) or relied solely on text messaging and emails that gave clients no way to respond (choosing this works or does not work for me would be a great start!)

My son (age 17) took the four, 2 hour sessions with Defensive Driving which culminated in a final session at Newtown Square where he took his driver's test. My daughter (3 years older ) had also utilized Defensive Driving services for behind-the-wheel training. We had been so pleased with her experience, that we chose them again. My son's instructor, Sean H., was exceptional. He was supportive but firm and very encouraging. It was a very good match for my son who felt well-prepared when he arrived for his test. The test day began with a short session with Sean, followed by testing with another instructor. From a parent's perspective, scheduling the test through Defensive was incredibly easier than going through PennDot. Testing in a quieter, more focused environment was a real plus for my son. I would definitely recommend Defensive Driving for any new time drivers.

Taking driving lessons here is 110% worth it! It lowered my insurance rate and it taught me everything I need to be a safe driver. I paid for 3 two hour lessons out of my own pocket and I don't regret it at all. My coaches were extremely helpful and I definitely recommend using this place. It seems pricey but it's going to save you money in the long run and it will help you learn how to avoid accidents. My driving coaches were Brian, Anthony and Sandy (I'm not sure if that was her name but I think she had red hair and she was very nice!! She even did a "happy dance" to calm my nerves before the test!!:)) Also, my test administrator was very sweet! I think her name was Lynn.

My son had one instructor that was great. But then he was very booked up after our first two sessions. The other guy we had was kinda just ok... my son said he didn't really say anything when they were out for two hours. ??? That instructor didn't offer corrections or anything. My son had nearly 45 hours under his belt by then, but for the money we pay I would at least expect a two hour lecture about safety and defensive driving while they drive around. Anyhow... the final session/test was thorough and good. All in all, probably worth the investment.

Best experience I’ve ever had. Began with adult lessons because my family didn’t have time to teach me. The coaches worked with my anxiety and helped soothe my panic when it came to driving. So worth the money to test with DDA instead of the DMV, who wouldn’t have cared about my anxiety. They worked with my college schedule and being home on breaks which was more than amazing. Coming from a nineteen year old, my experience at DDA was nothing short of amazing! DDA is an extremely professional and accommodating establishment. Scheduling my lessons and getting in contact with the office (when I needed to ) was always a straightforward process. The report card system that provided feedback on different skills after each session was also very useful to help me as a student focus on what I needed to improve on, as well as reflect on what I did well. Ms. Terry was my instructor for all of my lessons, and she did everything in her power to teach me what I have to know to be a competent and safe driver. As a new driver, I often get anxious behind the wheel, but Ms. Terry reminded me to remain calm, and she even made useful references which made the driving experience even more at ease for me. I can go on and on about the amazing instructor Ms. Terry is, but I would have to write a book! Let's just say before my first lesson began I didn't have any faith in me being behind the wheel, to me now being a licensed driver from the vital skills (in reference to driving) that DDA and Ms. Terry instilled in me. Ms. Terry showed me that she actually cared about me becoming a safe, knowledgable driver. Whenever, I needed help I was provided with the assistance that I needed, as well as compassion. Mr. John administered my test, and he was very encouraging, and polite. He also took the time out to share some more useful tips with me after I took my test. I highly recommend DDA to anyone that is contemplating about attending!

I felt my 199$ was well spent. Got the 2hr prep +test and DDA car. My instructor was kind and understanding, very patient even though I had a bad phobia with driving. He crammed a lot in the 1 hour 45 minutes of prep time to make sure I was as confident as possible for when the actual test came. Even made sure I would leave here with a smile on my face. End result is, I passed, and I of course smiled as I left. If anyone needs a confidence booster, I highly recommend the 2 hour prep+test if you don't already know the course. Even if you do, I suggest taking the prep before the test just to calm your nerves. It would be like warming up before the actual thing. It also gets rid of the possibility to forget the course if you come back weeks later.

I used to drive when I was in India. So in order to test my left hand driver in USA, I decided to take some test drive and have confidence on the roads and get used to traffic rules/signals etc. Therefor, I took 3 classes with them and finally scheduled a road test with them. The driving instructor on each session was very good, polite and very helpful. All the test drive sessions went well. On the day of road test, the DDA instructor made me learnt the parallel parking before going for the actual road test. And finally, in the road test, I got my learner's permit stamped as the actual driving license. It all happened because of the DDA's good and helpful instructor and their well educated driving plan. DMV was fully booked for driving test so a friend of my son suggested him to go to DDA for the driving test. The communication was very prompt and we got driving test date in 3 days. When we arrived, they welcomed us with a smile. The instructor was a lady who was very sweet and polite. She asked my son to practice a quick 10 mins parallel drive. Then she took him for the driving test and within 20 mins he passed the driving test. The people there are awesome and very friendly. My son took a 2hr class and his drivers license testing this morning. The price was amazing, and his instructor Joyce was very reassuring and calming. When we first bought the class and testing, there were no time slots available. I sent an email explaining we weren’t able to schedule and his permit was due to expire June 30. I received a prompt response with an appointment that worked for us. He didn’t pass his first exam with PennDOT, due to being nervous. The way DDA is set up, he was not nervous at all, and very comfortable with it. He passed no problem at all. Excellent experience! My son failed his first driver's test at the local dmv in Malvern. The course there is very confusing - even for someone who's been in that shopping center many times like me. The Defensive Driving Academy test took place starting at Pep Boys in Exton. The parallel parking cones are always setup there, so we were able to practice many times before the test. When we arrived for our test appointment we were asked if we wanted to practice before doing the test, so my son practiced a few times before we let DDA know we were ready. My son commented that he was not as nervous as over at Malvern mostly because the tester from DDA was very friendly and made him feel at ease. Also, scheduling was easy and I was able to schedule the test within two weeks after he had previously failed. The next test I could have scheduled at the dmv would have been another two months. They were always on time and the portal to schedule classes was easy to use. My daughter became more confident with the techniques she learned especially with Parallel parking. My only criticism would be they need to be more flexible with their cancellation policy in light of Covid-19. Be sure to cancel a session 24 hours in advance or they will charge you even if your be cautious of potential exposure.

I had four different coaches and then the tester. The coaches were very patient with me. Then the tester was a kind gentleman who helped me calm my nerves to pass the test. My mother was very pleased that I was able to achieve my goal of passing the driver’s license test at first attempt. She told me that I must get my license by April. My original goal was to be able to achieve it by May, but because of DDA coaches and the test I was able to achieve the goal in the time frame of my mother’s. I will admit, I was hesitant at first. I didn’t think I needed lessons and should just get the test from the state (PennDOT) and be done with it. But with the pandemic not allowing them to open with no way to know when they would start taking their test, I lost faith in the state. When I founded out Defense Driving Academy (DDA) would administer a test AND provide lessons with an insurance certificate as well as provide a 30hr class all in one neat package, I was thrilled. My parents bought it, and I was on the road a couple weeks later. My instructors were Pat, Andy, Jared and Greg. All were helpful. When it came time to take my test, Greg was my instructor/teacher. He ran me through parallel parking and DDA’s secret method for teaching it worked very well! I tried learning from my parents, and it didn’t go as well, but now I now how to parallel park. Greg lakes out the rules and ran me though the course, and said we could go through as many times as I wanted/needed. I did it twice, and then we called Mo over to administer my test. Mo was a funny guy and he says I need to work on my sense of humor—which I’m working on—and provided me with my stamped permit-turned-license. DDA gave me my certificate for an insurance discount a couple days later, and sent the notice to PennDOT immediately, and I received the camera card about a week and a half later. Thanks to everyone and I recommend DDA instead of testing with the state, as the wait times are through the roof! Thanks again, DDA. I’m proud to be a licensed driver.

Defensive Driving Academy was a phenomenal experience and well worth the money. The soonest the DMV could issue me a drivers test was in 3 and a half months. Through the DDA I'm already driving (11 days from permit to license). The instructors are personable, kind and patient. Test day didn't even feel like a test, as to where testing with the DMV felt like a nightmare. If you have any type of driving anxiety, if you want to get your license in a timely manner, if you're just looking to sharpen your skills I CAN NOT recommend the DDA enough! Great experience for my daughter. DDA was great to work with. Andy, thanks for the coaching on parallel parking. She was scared of it but once you ran her through it a few times it became easy for her. Also, my daughter was able to take her final driving class and get her test the same day at DDA's office in Newtown Square, PA. No trip to the DMV required until the camera card comes in the mail. I took a 2 hour lesson and took my drivers test the same day at the defensive driving academy in exton. My coach was Alexis and she was absolutely amazing. Going in I was very nervous because before going to defensive drive I went to my local DMV and took my drivers test and i had a horrible experience. But here everyone was so nice. When me and my coach went out to start my lesson within the first minute I already felt very much less nervous. She was very patient, we had very nice conversations, she made sure everything she was teaching me I understood. She took me through the course and gave me little tips every second. I felt like I was driving with my parents and not at a Dmv where they make you feel uncomfortable. After I was done my lesson I went in for my drivers test and even the examiner giving me my test was absolutely great! He was nice and not putting me under pressure. I passed first try!! All in all my experience at defensive driving academy was absolutely great and I recommend it to anybody that wants a great driving lesson or wants to take their driving test. I failed my fisrt attempt at the driver's test and the DMV. I failed the parallel parking. I found this driving school online. I paid $25 to have a parallel parking lesson with Terry. The lesson was great and I was finally able to parallel park. I decided to take the driver's test there too, for $75. I was very relaxed and confident. I passed. I would definitely recommend this school. I feel it was worth the money to take the test there.

I took my driver's test today (in my own vehicle) at the Exton location within Pepboys. My tester was very friendly and put me at ease immediately, before hand I was very anxious and extremely worked up but she was great! What I really appreciated was they have cones set up where you are able to practice parallel parking right before your test, you can take as much time as you'd like and once you're ready you just let them know. The $75.00 was well worth it, I was able to schedule my driver's exam within 5 days of reaching out to them whereas at the DMV the earliest date available is in early February. I also wish I would have taken my lessons with DDA instead of choosing a different driving instructor in Delco.

A Very Great Experience. I had some previous driving experience before I signed up for The Adult 2Hr Prep, Test & Car Package BUT most of that experience was me driving with a friend Or two very randomly. Never had any like strict scheduled practice. I didn't have parallel parking experience at all Or any experience driving how you need to actually drive to past the test lol. Driving to me has always been stressful and something I didn't want to even do when I was younger (like every other 16 year old, I'm now 28) but as you grow up you realize you almost have no choice but to drive even if that means getting past some of your anxieties which is why I looked into this as an option. I met my driving coach (Her Name Was Lisa D, Not Sure If You Can Request Coaches But I Would Suggest Her If You Have Any Anxieties). Lisa D (My Coach) was very nice and made me feel comfortable right away. She told me things I needed to correct (In A Very Non Judgemental Way) She was also very encouraging with things I was doing right which was a great feeling. It felt like she had confidence in me and wanted me to pass and believed I could pass which was a great feeling to get from someone you seriously just met and spent a short time with lol. She was also very good at having conversations that made me feel like I was talking to a friend that was helping me vs. just a coach you don't know and who doesn't care if you pass, which is great for someone with anxiety. I would recommend her to anyone. After my coach set me up for the actual test, my tester came out (Her Name Was Terry -Hopefully I'm Spelling That Right). Terry Was Also A Great Person To Be My Tester. She obviously was testing me because that's her job but she also did a great job at talking to me calmly and acting like she was just a friend which again for someone with anxiety such as myself, that's the kind of tester I needed. Not someone like they have at a lot of other dmv places that seem like they not only don't care if you pass but they act like they don't want you to pass. So I Obviously Passed :) and it seriously is all thanks to them putting me at ease. I plan on bringing any of my future children here to learn and test because I have a feeling I won't be over my anxieties enough to ever teach my future 16 year old how to drive lol. I never write reviews and always have intention to but never really make the time. For this, I had to. This place is awesome. I'm 26. Never got my license because I traveled outside the country a lot. And lived in many cities through my life. Now that I'm residing in the suburbs I really wanted to begin to drive. I did the package of two, two hour sessions. Prep and test. When I went to book on my laptop I was surprised how quick and easy it was. I got a confirmation email with dates and then a man named Sean Murrin I believe was teacher. He picked me up from my home and we practiced. He taught me maneuvers I never would have thought of. A week later I scheduled a test date. Passed on the first try! We went over it for 2 hrs before I even took the test. By then all was a breeze. The patience and kindness of these people are wonderful. Sean is an excellent teacher and I'm so glad I can begin this area of my life! Thank you Defensive Driving :)

Registered for my daughter to take her test with them late Sunday night and by 8 am Monday morning I had an email with dates and times available for the following week. Quick check in amd out and they let her practice parallel parking before the test. They made her feel at ease before and during the test. Better experience than the DMV.

Even though Tom was ready to drive , he had failed at the DMV test at the parallel parking part right at the beginning and the next available spot for DMV testing was September ! We booked the $99 test only option with defense driving in Newtown square and were able to schedule the test the following week. Everything was easy . We even could practice the parking right before the start of the exam so Tom was relaxed and successful . The whole ambiance in the office and the examiners/instructors were so much more pleasant than DMV !It is totally worth the money !Thank you

We found these folks to be courteous and efficient. We went there for testing only. The Academy is allowed to do private driver testing for the State of Pennsylvania, and as such, they fill a real need created by Pennsylvania's testing bottleneck. If you go to the Penn DOT facilities for testing, you need to schedule an appointment 5 weeks out. If you miss parallel parking, or you're on the wrong side of an examiner's bad day, you end up waiting another 5 weeks. You might be able to get better dates, but you need to drive half way across the state to do it. This place is wonderful bypassing of the state bureaucracy.
