I had great experience in road test with great instructor Ed. Who is calm, friendly, professional, insightful and helpful. He really put me ease while driving though I was failed in my first test, his feedback was so helpful and I was able to pass the test 2nd time with him. I have only positive things to say about this school. My teacher was Spencer and he was wonderful. He was knowledgeable and patient and knew how to prepare me for my driving test. My tester was Josh, and he was calm and kind and made this stressful experience positive. I definitely recommend this school.

I relocated from another country in a close time. During our behind the wheel test with Ed, I never felt nervous and I had no communication problem with Ed, although English is my second language. And I got my driver license! I would recommend to take your practical driving exam in Colorado Driving Institute and doing practice with their examiners if you need to adapt to the US traffic.

Friendly professional service here. I had to take a drivers test to reinstate my license. I signed up a week within having my permit and it was $80. When I arrived, I didn’t have to wait long for my driving test to begin. The instructor I had for the road test was fair, impartial, and professional.

I have been taking Driving lesson in this driving institute. My experience with instructor Joshua was great.I am sure other instructors are good as well. To be honest, I am a slow learner and keeps forgetting but instructor Joshua was very patience with me. He is professional, calm and gives good instructions that makes me feel comfortable and decrease my anxiety while driving. We drove in neighborhood, city area , Denver , freeway and highways , reverse, parking - great experience.Thank you I would recommend this driving institute to you all🙂

Great experience with the drive test! I was able to schedule my test same-day, and it only cost $80 as compared to most other drive schools that wouldn't schedule earlier than several weeks out and had the same tests priced at $95. The staff member Josh was very easy-going, which made it easy to feel relaxed and pay my full attention to the road. Thanks for making what is normally a stressful experience a very nice one!

Amazing! I had a two hour brush up session with Spencer who was so patient and knowledgeable, I learned so many things in the session and honestly walked away a better driver. As a foreigner in the US, I had to get to get a local license. I chose this school because it was close by and offered driving tests at an affordable rate. The examiner, Ed, is a very friendly guy, gave me plenty of time to get adjusted to the car (the exam takes place in one of their cars, not your own), and his calm demeanor made the exam overall a good experience.

I had Josh as my driver. I signed up for the 2 hour “brush up”class, a little over confidant wondering what I could learn after 50 years of driving experience and no tickets before this parking lot rear-ender. I was too honest about the cause of my accident, telling the officer of my chronic back pain that only allowed me upright 4 hrs/day, that by 5:30 contributed to my distraction. I should have kept my mouth shut, for I surprisingly got a compulsory written and driving test attached to my ticket! And I had a near perfect driving history! Well, I was surprised how much I had to learn!! Josh was patient, calm, so pleasant, and pointed out many things I hadn’t been aware of. Sloppy habits that I needed to change. Like seeing the tires of the car in front of me when I stopped behind a car for a light; not the license plate. And that I should accelerate quickly out of the middle of the intersection when making a left or right turn; I was being a bit slow. If the crosswalk is unmarked I tend to stop on top of it rather than behind it (like most people) because I can see the cross traffic better. But that doesn’t matter, since pedestrians need to walk across & I can’t move anyway until the light changes. The 2 hours flew by!! Let’s hope the test next week is successful! I feel so much more confidant about it! 10+ CDL!! Bravo! I encourage anyone to come here!

I was very happy with Colorado Driving Institute. They were very professional and accommodating. I was able to get an appointment in a timely manner. They were able to give me my driving test the next day that I inquired about one. Ed was my driving tester and he was professional yet very personable. He will give you a fair critique and instruct you on what improvements you should make. Whether you need driving instruction or just an test for your license, this is the place I would recommend to any of my friends and family.

I took only a drive test at Colorado Driving Institute as I have a driver license for 17 years. The Instructor, Josh I think, was very professional and he understood why my hand was on the gearshift so much as back home I own a car with manual transmission:) It is a shame that you can use your national drivers license and drive a car for 90 days and after that you are obligated to applied for Colorado Drivers License. This part of the law is quite understandable. I recommend this place for new and old drivers.

Appointment was canceled due to the weather and I need to reschedule but the motorcycle test guy was leaving for 2 weeks and I will not be able to take the test until March due to travel. And the March schedule was unavailable so I haven’t been able to reschedule for March. Reschedule went well and the guys were great.

My instructor (Josh?) was very personable and the driving test was not unnecessarily stressful. His instructions were clear and concise. His feedback was communicated in a friendly but constructive manner, and I believe I am a better driver as a result of his pointers. The driving school had my results uploaded to the DMV in a matter of minutes, and I was able to complete the entire process (drive test and DMV) in just over one hour total. I highly recommend.

If you're going to have to retake your driving test as an adult, this is the place to do it. Super easy to sign up, friendly test administrator, and right across the hall from the DMV where you get your license. Also their fleet is composed entirely of electric or hybrid cars.

I just used the company for a driving test, after more than 2 years abroad with no driving. The instructor, Ed, was professional yet friendly, and obviously very experienced. My only complaint is that the 20 mph default speed limit in residential neighborhoods in Boulder does not appear in the Colorado Driver's Handbook, which mentions a usual speed limit of 30mph in residential neighborhoods, but this is obviously important for the test. I have heard the default speed limit appears on roads leading into Boulder, but this is of no use for the test. Wouldn't it help to quickly mention this to testees before the test begins? Aside from this one point, I would highly recommend this driving school.

My son got his driver's permit as an adult, so there are no mandated classes or wait time between permitting and licensing . I scheduled him for a 2 hour "brush up" lesson after I had taught him everything I could think of, so that a professional could evaluate him and tell him the things he needed to work on. It was also easy to schedule the state driver test with them, and the Boulder DMV is just across the hallway - so one-stop shopping. Overall, a very good experience and worthwhile investment.

The tester Ed is a really nice person. I have a Jeep car which is different from the car provided and used for driving test at the institute. Ed introduced me how to adjust the mirrors, gear and the power button of the car before we headed to the roads.

I wanted to get my license that day and he personally walked over to the DMV and got me a walk-in appointment (the DMV does not do walk-ins currently and there are no appointments available for many weeks).

I utilized the CDI for my State of Colorado driving road test. They are conveniently located across the hall from the DMV license office. My tester/instructor was very patient and friendly. He gave me very useful and professional feedback on my performance (I passed). As an older individual, I have acquired many bad habits in driving. Although not bad enough to fail me, they could cause problems, so the feedback was very welcome!

Went in for a motorcycle driving test. They're a little more expensive than the other places, but they also had much more availability, and helped me to reschedule twice with no charges or fees. They always sent out confirmations and reminders, and they were very professional and easy-going, making it really easy to do the test. Awesome people!

Driving Evaluator Ed was very helpful with instruction on a vehicle and equipment I was unfamiliar with. He offered constructive criticism and information understanding I hadn't driven in 23 years. My only complaint or suggestion is that the phone communication situation is abysmal. Every call put on hold and I waited 5, then 7 and finally 9 minutes before giving up entirely on trying to call. At least get a way to take messages and then employ someone who takes their job and customer communication seriously. Thanks again to Ed.

I have been trying to learn to drive as a young adult with parents who were unavailable to teach me, after many attempts with family and friends, I decided the best course of action was to get lessons from CDI. I signed up with Ed, who was super down to earth, responsive, and kind in his review of my driving skills. I was able to pass the test after just one lesson. I am going to continue to take more lessons to brush up on my driving skills, and I am confident I will be an excellent driver after I complete them. The visit was quick and they were able to take my drop-in appointment for a driver's test within 45 minutes. The instructor, Ed, was friendly and talkative. Those getting tested should be familiar with the responsiveness of electric cars (i.e. brakes and accelerator are a little quicker to respond) as they will be tested in a Nissan Leaf. Also, be sure to look carefully for stop signs in places where something may be obstructing them. Overall great experience.

I had a positive experience with this driving school. I lived overseas for two years and had to retake the road exam because my US License expired. They were able to fit me in with two days notice, give me some good advice before the test, and provided a professional but courteous testing experience. This reduced the stress / irritation of having to take the test after all these years! And...I passed. The instructor has been doing this for +25 years so I am sure he is a good teacher for new drivers as well.

Both of my kids have taken a 2-hour brush up lesson with Ed towards the end of the year they held their permits, and both of them also took their driver's exam during that 2 hour lesson. Getting my drivers test done at the Colorado Driving Institute was a stress free event. I got to use their car for the test, it was an easy to drive electric car. Ed the instructor was calm and reassuring. He gave me a great pretest briefing and warned me of the common things people have problems with as well as the driving offenses that are an automatic fail. Test took about 15 min, went smooth with no gotcha type instructions. (No parallel parking required) Save the loooong wait, hassle and stress of the Drivers Licence office. It was a total cost of $65 for the drivers test, definitely money well spent. Thanks Ed

The instructors are very patient and accommodating (I took behind-the-wheel driving lessons with Ed and Michael and my driving test with Ed). Learning how to drive with them was very reassuring as the cars have a brake on the passenger side. The instructor's calm and explanations made it much easier to learn than learning with my family. Most of their cars are at least partly electric, which is really cool.

I signed my daughter up for the 2-hour brush up class a little late (driver's test pending) and was able to get a Sunday appointment which was very helpful. I was able to ride along. Manav was the instructor and he was great. Very easy-going and nice but very knowledgeable and attentive. His manner helped put my nervous daughter at ease and made the experience enjoyable for both of us. I learned a few things from him too - even after 40 years of driving. My daughter took her test at the DMV and passed. I wish I could say they were as nice to work with as Manav. I recommend taking the driver's test through Colorado Driving Institute - I wish we had. They provide a much better experience over all.

I came to the CDI for a brush-up lesson and a driving test. The lesson was very enjoyable and covered all the important aspects of the test. It was the first day I had ever driven on the right side of the road, since I recently moved over from Ireland. The test went smoothly and I passed, despite some rain. I think they believe foreigners don't know how to drive, so no matter how you drive they're gonna fail you for the littlest of things and its depressing. If you wanna use them as a foreigner, just do their brush up course and then the drive test, don't waste your money on the first drive test.

I took a 2hr BTW highway class through the institute. It was snowing so rather than spending all the time in the highway, we focused on a mock drive test. Manav, the instructor, was relaxed and super awesome guy. He shared tips on what to look out for and how to manuever in city environments. Overall great experience. A few days later I took the state drive test with them, easy to schedule and super flexible time slots.

Ed was great. Albeit my 1pm appointment didn’t start until almost 1:25pm. A few of the judgements were a bit subjective. Example: I was marked down for stopping too close to a vehicle at a light. I could clearly see the bottom of the vehicles tires, which I’m aware is the recommend lawful stopping distance, but Ed who is shorter than I could not. Thus, he marked me down for this. Overall though good feedback and a swift process. Thanks for keeping drivers safe and legal on our streets!

I took a lesson with the CDI and it was great, Ed is a great instructor and the services provided was outstanding. I shop around before I choose Colorado Driving Institute and although I failed my first driving test by my own errors I followed the instructions given to me and what I was taught by Ed and retake the test a few days later and pass. For those people who are saying horrible things about customer service and the instructor please take responsibility for your own actions before posting bad things about the CDI, other people are satisfied with their results just like I am so don't expect to the instructor to give you a pass if you did not honestly work for it or prove to the instructor to be a safe driver who is capable of operating a vehicle. I am truly satisfied and will recommend this Driving institute to anyone who want to operate a vehicle in this or any other country, there are so much to learn and the driver's manual cannot give you everything you need to learn without you doing additional practice. I wish you all the best and for Ed, yeh man!!!

CDI is the most amazing driving school. All our three kids used this wonderful, superior vendor. Last week I had a chance to observe Chief Ed teaching my youngest son during a two hour lesson: driving on highways; taking US 36 to I 25, then north to CO 52, back west to the Diagonal and return to Boulder at end of a two hour drive. Ed is a born teacher: quiet and calm, very educational, offering reasoning for what he teaches at that moment, always aware and in charge (e.g. a pickup driver overlooked us/neglected to check whether some car was next to him and was so involved in conversation with a passenger and decided to pull into our lane when we were next to him - maybe we were in the blind zone of his right outside mirror; Ed handeled this situation with complete calm and pulled us into a lane to the right, saving us from a certain collision). I was very impressed, when out in the 'boonies' he let my son experience getting off the pavement with two tires - maybe to make extra space for an oncoming car, or avoiding debris on the road - and how to handle that situation, by not over-correcting nor breaking which might cause the car to swerve. Ed and CDI a superb teacher and school, my rating excellent!

I think I did the right thing after losing my third drivers test at the DMV. I went straight to the CDI and scheduled a two hours lesson. I got a lot out of it and I resolved my doubts about some specific rules that are not the same in all the countries, since I have been driving in Colombia for years. Serious and reassuring. I just moved back from Europe and had to get my Colorado Driver's License. I passed the written test at the DMV, but when I asked to sign up for the driving test, I was told that the appointments were 4 weeks out. I looked at different driving schools to take the test, but I chose Colorado Driving Institute because: 1) Reasonable price, 2) Could use the CDI car for the test, 3) Convenient location next to the DMV. There was only a two-day wait for an appointment, and it was easy to sign up on their website. I arrived early for the test, and Colorado Driving Institute answered a couple of questions I had while I was waiting. The instructor, who happened to be the owner, was calm and reassuring. CDI has two models of cars: a Nissan Leaf and a Chevy Volt. I drove the Volt, and it was great! Chevy should be paying CDI for the driving tests, because it was my first opportunity to drive the car. The Chevy Volt is not too big and not too small. I had owned a tiny European car (a Smart), so I was happy to do the test in a mid-sized car. The test proceeded smoothly. You can't ask questions during the test. During and after the test, the instructor took notes. We went back to the office, where he gave me helpful suggestions to improve my driving habits. It was a very good experience. My son will be learning to drive next summer, and I plan to have him take lessons at Colorado Driving Institute.
