I had an issue come up from my past which presented me with a unique set of challenges due to looming timeline, logistics (where the infraction occurred), I live in another state and governmental agencies not sharing information, some of which are now defunct 20-plus years later. I did a Google search and Barber’s Driving School in Columbus, Georgia was the first one that came up as being DDS Certified which offered Zoom classes. I am so glad I found them to take the required classes. Not only were they professional and highly organized in their structure and platform. I had the immense pleasure of being part of a class that was taught by Mr. Andre Tarver. He was engaging, very immersive and taught in an inclusive, non-judgmental fashion. He was so real, and I felt a deep connection to his teaching method. A great teacher!! He related to everyone’s stories and passed on his wisdom. He had a great teaching method. If you ever have the unfortunate luck to have to attend a mandatory risk reduction class I recommend the Barber Driving school, and if you’re fortunate enough you might be assigned Mr. Tarver as your instructor. I came out of the class with a better understanding of myself, my habits and how to live better by making more low risk choices! Thank you to Barber’s and Mr. Tarver!!

Georgia has some very specific requirements that have to be met (Joshua's Law) in order for a teenager to get a license, and it was overwhelming to think about trying to fulfill them all on my own. So I was thankful when a friend recommended Barber's. It was a relief that they took care of the 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind the wheel training, AND the Road Test for the license once my daughter turned 16. The online class with Mark was well-organized, and the content was interesting and informative to her. He took time to answer the students' questions and related well to the class. Sylvie was a great behind the wheel instructor; she made my daughter feel comfortable and provided her with tips that made her more confident with driving and parking. I was very glad she was able to do her Road Test with Keith, an instructor she had interacted with briefly one day in the Barber's office. Just knowing who would be conducting her test made it a little less intimidating. That is not a benefit she would have had had we scheduled the test at the DMV. She was a little nervous the day of the test, but Keith's easy-going, kind manner helped her to relax, and she was able to pass. My daughter said that she feels like her experience with Barber's truly made her a better driver, and I agree.

I had to do a zoom meeting and my instructor was so nice and helpful, I couldn’t of asked for a better class then hers. I highly recommend taking her class, she teaches so much about driving that most of us would of never thought of. Her name is Celia Brooks. One of the best teachers and mentors out there!! Without her I wouldn’t of made a 100 on the test nor get the certificate I needed. So I really do appreciate everything she’s done and it was a best 6 hours of teaching.

This was not like the horror stories I had heard. This is the best DUI school ever! Candice Franks the instructor was the best. Whether you’re looking for teenage or adult driving tests, this is the place you want to go! Al was very thorough, compassionate, and professional. We had a small issue, and Al went over and beyond to make things right. He explained some changes that have been made since my husband and I had our initial driver’s tests. (It’s been a while😉) I truly believe everyone should go through this test every few years. I highly recommend Barber’s Driving School!

This Driving School was absolutely incredible!! The instructor was super knowledgeable and understanding over certain circumstances. She gave us the right about of breaks so we weren’t just sitting on zoom for 8 hours straight!! I know you don’t always take this course because you want to, but why not get a good one if you have to?? 10/10 highly recommend !!

Had gotten arrested for a DUI and needed to go to classes. I was dreading having to sit in classes for hours about how “drinking was bad” and so on. Barbers driving school allowed me to use zoom video calling to complete my 20 required hours with Andre. I wish I could give more than just 5 stars just because Andre made the class very productive but also made it his goal to listen and understand his class very well. He did not judge a single one of us and helped encourage and guide us in the right paths on doing better on not making mistakes like we’ve made again. Thank you Andre and Barbers driving school!

I very highly recommend Mr. Andre as an instructor. He turned a very dreadful & boring DUI class into an interactive & incredibly informational experience. Unlike a lot of the other people I have encountered since my DUI, he was understanding and didn’t make anyone feel like they were any less of a person due to their past. He allowed everyone in the class to share their own experiences instead of just reading from a book which was more eye opening & inspiring than I could have ever imagined. Weirdly enough, I was actually sad at the end of the class because I felt as if we had all become friends & accountability partners for each other. Mr. Andre allowed open dialog & passed no judgment whatsoever which created a very accepting & open atmosphere for us. This was an incredible learning experience for me & I believe he has helped me become a better person in these last few days. THANK YOU MR. ANDRE!

Driving class was great as far as driving classes go it was definitely not what I expected. Those 20hrs flew by and it wasn't just boring videos, everyone interacts, the teacher Andre was great. I wouldn't wanna do another of these classes but if so I'd recommend Barbers and Andre at Barber's!

I expected DUI school to be long, boring, and drawn-out, but with the instructor I had, I think I learned a hell of a lot more than I would have with any other school. Mrs. Candice was AWESOME, to say the least!!! Makes me wish she was in the D.A.R.E. programs way back when before I got into this mess. But because of her enthusiasm and genuine concern for us, and the information of course, I was truly able to be honest with myself and now have the desire to make real changes, aka low-risk choices. Even though a horrible mistake was made to land me in this class; I had a great experience. The instructor, Candice Franks, was awesome. She was able to keep the class engaged, active and awake. She made the information worth talking about. She was understanding and not judgmental. If she see this: Candice, know that Miss DoorDash will ALWAYS remember you. You make people like me realize my actions were not good but I'm still a great person and life CAN turn around!!! Keep being the best!!

Mrs. Tarver was an amazing and very knowledgeable instructor, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to actually concentrate and take in all of the information because of how long the class is and I had to do it after I got off work, which trying to concentrate on a class after 12-14 hours at work is pretty hard, but she made it actually fun and that kept me awake and able to take in the information. I'm happy she was my instructor.

Mr. Adams was very patient with the teenagers in the classroom and on zoom. He gave us much needed breaks and answered the many questions people had. Taking the classroom courses my eyes were opened even more to driving isn’t just about driving, there’s much more to it. Makes me very aware of what I should be doing to prevent serious injuries to myself or others. Miss Sylvie is a great instructor. She has a talent at teaching you how to drive. She’s patient as well and has encouraging words. How she is overall just encouraged me to really to want to drive and be a good driver. One day the AC in the car kept going out and she offered me a cold water. The way she acted towards the situation was still very positive. I had a really good experience at Barber’s Driving School!

Our son enjoyed EVERY part of the class –he took classroom and behind the wheel training. He drove 3h with Mr. Donnie and 3h with Mrs. Sylvie. They BOTH were AMAZING! Sharp on time for pick up and took their time to explaining and comment on our child’s driving. He was nervous about parallel parking – he is a pro now and teaching me how to do it. Don’t let Mr. Green army attitude intimidate you- our son walked out of the car sliming and joking with him after his road test. Outstanding service by everyone: the ladies in the office, classroom and road instructors, and the road testing individuals!!!

Just had my third child complete her drivers ed with Barber’s. They are professional and responsive on the office side of things. On the classroom side, Jane is wonderful. The classroom part is LONG but necessary and valuable. On the driving side, my last two children have had Kevin Greene as their instructor, and I can’t sing his praises enough. They both loved him. My daughter had very little time behind the wheel prior to driving with Kevin, and her anxiety was through the roof. After two three-hour sessions, she is confident and has a totally different outlook on driving. She came back from the first session smiling from ear-to-ear. Kevin is very thorough and really identifies with the kids. They like his instruction and his personality. We give him an A+, as well as the school as a whole.

At first I was really nervous & scared about the classes, but he was very kind & humorous & always reassured me that it was just practice, that I had nothing to be worried about. My BTW instructor was David and he showed me all the things I needed to know about driving. He helped me to get over my fears and after just one session, I was 10 times better than before. After the 6 hour driving lessons(2 hours each day X 3 days), my son felt comfortable and more confident driving in our car. My son now drives every weekend, and when I pick him up from school. As a student the experience was amazing. Mrs. Jane really help with not only learning, but understanding the rules of the road. Also, Mr. Kevin is an excellent driving instructor. He was aggressive or rowdy like a parent would be. And he makes the experience feel like a casual drive and not a life or death situation, while also making sure you understand that if you don’t follow the rules of the road it can be a life or death situation.

I am 21 years old I have just received my license after taking a course at Barber's. I took 6 hours of on the road instruction with a defensive driving course. My defensive driving teacher was Mrs. Love and she was very helpful. She told personal stories about her experiences which helped me be more knowledgeable about driving. The course I took with her was both financially (since you get an insurance discount for taking a defensive driving course) and mentally beneficial. My instructor was David, who was extremely professional and helped me to overcome a lot of the anxieties I had about driving. If I were to take it again I would absolutely recommend David as he turned something I've always had anxieties about, being in a few car crashes myself, into something manageable and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend him as a driving instructor for anyone.

If I could give Barbers 10 stars, I would! They taught me everything I need to know and then some. Mr. Eric was the best! He was very attentive, always kept me on track. I never thought I could ever weave through cones but I did just that, thanks to Eric! As a parent, I am so appreciative of this opportunity for my daughter. I did not feel comfortable with her learning to drive on these large roads and interstate here in Columbus, I wanted her to have formal instruction founded on a solid and professional driving/instructing background. We found all of this at Barber's. My daughter was in a safe environment and learned the 'correct way' to drive; our laws and regulations, complete with instruction on oil and tire changing plus basic mechanics. I am confident now that my baby is good to go and can handle the many situations that can arise behind the wheel, namely other drivers who exercise their own version of skill seemingly not based on any written law. And, 6 hours of behind the wheel driving. All 6 hours were done in 1 day! And, Ryan volunteered for New Years Day, so Triston could test yesterday (last day of their school break.) My daughter took Barber's classroom in the summer time. She had a great experience. Every night she would come home and tell me about new traffic laws or something things I had forgotten. Her driving instructor was Keith. I was a little worried about her getting in the car with a strange man, especially since it was private driving lessons. He picked her up from home and from school for the lessons. After meeting him and talking with her, we couldn't of been happier. At first he had to keep hitting the brake on his side because I put my hand through the wheel when I turned it , but I stopped doing that after the third time he hit the brake. I took my first Barber's education course and behind the wheel training when I was 16. Later, I strayed for additional behind the wheel hours at the Columbus Tech driving school simply because it was cheaper. This was my first mistake. After spending 2 hours with Mr. Barber, I mastered two difficult driving techniques (parallel parking and right side backing) and passed my driving test! Driving is a critical skill that must be mastered. So many people do not learn to drive correctly and as a result, accidents occur. I'm so glad I came back to Barber's!!! Mr.Ryan was my driver instructor for 6 hours and he was great! He believed in only using positive reinforcement and if I made a mistake he made sure to go over what I did and what to do next time. If I messed up parking he made sure to do it again so I learn from my mistakes. I had a great experience with the Barbers driving course, Mr. Eric taught me everything in needed to know using the parking lot, and various roads. I learned the whole driving test, and practiced it several times over. We met at times that were the most convienient for both of us, and he picks you up from wherever as long as it isn't to far away. He does a great job keeping you on the right track speed and direction wise. He helped me improve the areas that I was weak on. I also learned how to maintain speed, stay centered, secondary stop, parallel park, t corner park, back up straight, get within six inches of cones and cars, properly make a left turn and right turn, and weave through cones. He and Mr. Keith both have a great since of humor, and offer you gum to help you remember what was taught, and as a gesture of kindness. The instructors have a brake on their side, and ensure that you will not hit anything, and they can expertly drive from the passengers side if need be.
