Only good things to share about A1 Driving. I felt safe leaving my child with them - and I think as a parent that’s the first and most important consideration. Then, their learning methods are thorough, encouraging, and comprehensive. They focus not only on the on-road situations during the class, but also on other scenarios that can present. Parking is a nightmare for many and is a skill that is not very developed for half the drivers even in their adulthood … admit it! A1 Driving focuses on parking skills in every class - and that’s a big plus in my book. After class, they share detailed notes to go over the content covered in the class, and summarize readiness for road test and general driving competence. Outstanding all around. Highly recommended!!

Did this class to get points of my license. Was sure i was going to be bored but my Instructor Mr. Berry actually made the class fun and actually enjoyable. He was super funny and made the 6 hours go by fast!

I took the defensive driving class online on Saturday and the instructor was funny but made sure we got the information we needed. It made me pay attention and retain a lot from this class! I will say that depending on your instructor and other classmates, your class could be totally different. I love that I got to take this online.

Took the A1 Defensive Driving course virtually on a Saturday. Instructor was funny and engaging. There were a variety of people there for different reasons and he made it a comfortable space. There were some issues that came up during the class but I feel that in a normal (in-person) classroom setting these would not have been a problem. Overall I would recommend this course. In regards to some of the negative comments below, I think it might depend on the instructor you have and also how respectful the class is. The website did also make it clear that this would be a virtual meeting.

I could not have asked for a better driving instructor than Verline Mister. She was so wonderful in so many ways. I was very anxious to start driving, but she was very understanding, and I became much more comfortable driving while listening to music and talking while driving. And when it came to parking (which was very difficult for me) she had a specific way of learning to help me remember the steps needed to park correctly. And it was not like learning it for the sake of the test and then forgetting it afterward. Her techniques are ingrained in how I drive, and it has taught me how to be a better driver. I highly recommend signing up for her lessons because I passed my test, and it’s all thanks to her.

This is an updated review. The COO of the company reached out to me and helped me facilitate all of my communication. He really went above and beyond to help me get into my scheduled course and to ensure that all lines of communication were open. I completed my course with no incident and was able to get the certificate I needed. He even followed up with me to get my feedback after the course. He did not pressure me in any way to update or change my review and told me he would like for his company to "earn a new review". I appreciate this. The course itself was a breeze. It was very easy to understand and the instructor was not boring or dull. He encouraged class participation even over a Zoom call and answered any questions, even if they interrupted a point he was making. I'm hoping the COO can fix the initial contact issue they're having and as long as he can, I think they will have many more 4-5 star reviews in their future.

The course was great! I had to take it for court and everything worked out well. The instructor was great and very informative. Though it was a long 6 hours, he made sure we were not completely miserable.

I reluctantly took the Defensive Driving class in order to lower the points on my license. I was dreading being cooped up in the house all day to take this "boring class" especially since it was online. However to my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Who knew! The instructor Ms. Turner made the class fun as well as very informative. She is a wealth of knowledge. I would recommend A-1 in a heartbeat not only if you are required to take the class, but as a general refresher course and to stay on top of new laws. The laws change all the time and the public is not always made aware of them. **Note that I registered at the location in Decatur on Memorial Drive.

I really have enjoyed my experience with A-1 Driving School. They have made the entire process easy from start to finish. It is well worth it and the teachers are great. They definitely help you to get comfortable on the road. I would definitely recommend!!! from the driving lessons to defensive driving to taking the actual road test (both of which they pick you up and drop you off).

Good Class. Easy to book online. I signed up for Defense Driving 6 hour class simply to reduce my insurance cost +$150 per year for the next several years. The instructor Albert Turner had a great sense of humor and good life stories that honestly did not make the class boring. He was very knowledgeable. They are licensed and accredited by the State of Georgia. Recommended.

There are times when you have to do things you don’t want to, such as defensive driving school. But when you do, A1 driving school is the place to do it. I registered for a class and there was some issue in so doing. Now, many companies would simply blame the website, maybe transfer you to tech support…. But, when I called, I got hold of Della. And thank heavens I did. She listened to my issue, owned it and helped me solve the problem. I was able to complete my course the same week. I know a lot of these governmental contractors can be frustrating, but A1 driving school is one you can count on. If you live in Georgia and you need a defensive driving course, these are the folks you NEED to call. And if you do, call Della at the Kennesaw location, she’ll get you set up right. I really enjoyed the defensive driving course. The instructor Patricia Tarver was very helpful and I couldn't be happier with the services they provided. My license was reinstated the day after I completed the course. And everything went smoother than I expected. I would definitely recommend using to anyone.

Phenomenal course. The instructor Albert Turner was not only extremely knowledgeable but had a wonderful sense of humor. He taught me things that I definitely was not aware of. Not only that but he was a military guy, had lots of cool stories and life experience. I took the six hour course in one day for points reduction and it was worth every penny. I plan on bringing my family back. Great school, can't go wrong with this place. I highly recommend it.

When i first saw the class was for 6 hours i literally wanted to pull my hair out. Once the class started I realized it would fly by! The instructor was amazing and super funny. He made the material interesting and fun. The lessons we were taught was very useful and informative. I 100% recommend this driving school.

To start I hate I even had to take the class so keep in mind it's not their fault why some of us are there. To begin I wasn't happy with the price of the class but in all fairness it was that consistent across the board. I surprisingly got a reminder call the day before my class instructing me to arrive early for check in. Upon arrival the receptionist I first thought her tone was rather direct and borderline unprofessional but later realized she was consistently this way with everyone and honestly meant no harm. As far as the instructor Ron, what can I say he was fantastic. He kept everyone engage and I actually cared to pay attention to him outside of not wanting to really be there on a Sunday ..football Sunday at that. All around this class was great, very informative, and educational on levels I didn't expect. I definitely don't plan on coming back and will obey traffic laws but for what it's worth I highly recommend!!!

I had signed up for the Defensive Driving course, and through every step of the process (signing into the virtual class, signing paperwork, taking the final exam, and receiving documentation) I’ve had to constantly reach out to the main office through emails and phone calls to follow what should be an automated response process. However, at the end of the day the manager went above and beyond to try and recover the mistakes, and the instructor of the course is a funny guy and a great teacher…. If they didn’t have issues with the automated response it would easily be a 5 star review Edited afterwards to reflect change in experience

I enjoyed the class. The instructor Brady Johnson had to come in as a replacement instructor last minute and did a great job. This course is the perfect way to reduce points on your license or get a premium discount on your auto insurance or in some cases both. There are always plenty of class days and times to choose from to fit your schedule and the staff are very accommodating.

I had to take the 20 hour driving course and the teacher I had Mrs. White was great! Very sweet and knowledgeable lady with a lot of great stories who made the time go by surprisingly fast. From the minute I came in to do my assessment at the Sandy Springs location to the end of the three day class at the Atlanta location everyone I encountered was curteous, organized, and professional. Thank you for making it as painless as possible and quite informative and enjoyable.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with A-1 Driving School. I took a defensive driving class there to get a reduced insurance rate and expected to be bored out of mind. Instead, I learned an incredible amount of information about driving laws in Georgia as well as strategies and techniques to use to improve as a driver. The instructors were fantastic! Both were knowledgeable, enthusiastic and easy to follow. The class was completely interactive so I was completely engaged for the 6 hours that I had to be there. I also thought it was a nice and unexpected touch that lunch at the great steak and cheese shop next door was included in the cost of the class! I would recommend this school to anyone and intend to register both my sons (who already have their driver's licenses) to take it.

I was dreading going to school for 6 hours for my tiny speeding ticket, but A-1 made it enjoyable and I ended up learning some things that I had forgotten or was not aware of. My instructor, JoAnn was very knowledgeable and informative. She made the class enjoyable and go by quickly. I got 100% on my test! I would definitely recommend this class to others who need to take it.

I took the virtual class over the weekend and I must say I actually enjoyed it. My instructor Mr.Berry made it very fun and not boring. We were given 10 mins breaks throughout the course with a 60 min lunch break which I thought was good.

A-1 Driving school was close and convenient for me. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the teacher, and the class as a whole. There were plenty of breaks, I was happy that they provided lunch(it would be nice if they could include a drink), and the class, itself, was interesting. The only thing I wish they would include in the class is EVOC training. I think it would benefit many people to learn how to control their vehicle on a skid track, first hand.

I was new to Atlanta from the UK and needed to take the road test to obtain a Georgia driving licence. I took 4 hours lessons with Felicia and Christopher who were both great teachers and I passed with flying colours! I look forward to my defensive driving course too. The class was really informative and fun. My intent in taking the course was to get a discount on my insurance. The instructor, Mr. Deandre Berry, is really great guy. While keeping the class very entertaining, he manages to cover all important topics. I recommend this place to anyone looking to take a Defensive Driving Course.

This the best class hands down. I looked around online to find cheaper options for my 6 hour defensive driving course. Went on limb and chose A-1. Best choice I've ever made. I'd specifically recommend the Atlanta location off of Cheshire Bridge Road. Not to mention, the instructor Keith is literally the best hands down. Overall 5 star experience.

I might have been the very few who went for an Insurance discount. I showed up 5 mins before class and the only seat left was up front, about 5 feet from the teacher. I preferred it as I geek out over things like this. The teacher was incredibly easy to learn from. She obviously knew what she was doing and it was easy to interact and ask questions. Yeah, the videos are a little dated but it gets the point across. You take a quick test at the end of the day and you get your results back before you leave. The process of getting your certificate was quick. I'd take the class again and recommend it to anyone who wants to feel safer on the road.

I attended the Saturday course a couple of weeks ago. I went in as most do, thinking it would be a waste of a Saturday, but I was surprised. The instructor - Darryl Oliver, was excellent. He kept it interesting and kept everyone engaged so that the time went by quickly. I am like most drivers in thinking that I already am the best driver on the road and know everything I need to know. I was wrong. I learned a lot and given that the cars we drive are weapons capable of ending a life - I am grateful for the reset in my thinking. I'm sure it added to the probability I will live longer than had I not gone. Especially the time spent on aggressive driving and road rage. When you think about it, we have drivers ed once in our lives. There should be a refresher class requirement for all drivers every 10 years.

My instructor was Karen and she's FANTASTIC! She has real life stories that applies to the content of the class, which helps you in remembering the material that's discussed in class. The best thing is that she's very entertaining, so with her, time just FLEW and before I knew it, class was over! I learned a quite a bit in the class that I didn't know and some of the things that I learned was because the laws was recently changed and of course they don't update you to the new laws, but Karen knew and that was a plus. The facility itself isn't that fabulous, so don't expect much out of this location, 😂... but the staff is exceedingly friendly!

Instructor was imformative about most everything he spoke of which often went off topic but was occasionally funny. I don't know if the class legally has to be that long but the necessary information could be compressed into 3 hours easily. He did however tell our class that if they get into a skid not to turn into it. Thats only gonna work for people with Electronic Stability Control which is only required after 2010. I'm sure plenty of people there myself included do not have a vehicle that new.

Recently attending Defensive Driving with Mrs. T as my instructor and I must say she was a very thorough instructor who also gave real life examples that help us understand the seriousness to driving defensively. Also, he made a class that is typically boring and made it interesting to the point the entire class was able to participate and enjoy front beginning to end. I'm glad I was able to take this class and receive the knowledge as well.

A1 driving school is a great place for you to send your teenagers or your self as an adult too, to get your license and to learn how to drive safely on the road and understand what to do, they require 6 hours for your to take the test if over 18, and more if you’re under 18, but they also benefit you overall in other ways, also tho it can be quite costly it’s very beneficial to you as a customer. Less stress on the parents or guardians, No worries about long waits for the dmv Great opportunities!

Considering the circumstances, I could not have asked for more. Maggie in the front office is patient and informative. A major asset. I had Lulu as an instructor. She made everyone feel welcomed and was very intelligent with a spark. My other course was met with great stories and thought provoking conversation. The addition of the sandwiches next door was a nice touch considering all that can be weighing on your mind. I could not have asked for more and, although it is easy to judge a book by its cover, it is a well orchestrated and warm environment for whatever reason (big or small) you may be there.

Took the defensive driving course (6 hours), and was expecting it to be a pretty boring class with an uninterested instructor. Instead, it turned out to be relatively informative and the instructor (Katie) really made it a lot better than it could have been. Overall a good experience. Only problem I could find was that the actual office was a bit dated and cramped, but nothing unbearable.

Nobody wants to take this course or be put in the situation of having to take this course. However, our instructor Jill was hilarious and personable. She gave perfect examples and was very knowledgeable that helped each of us understand the subject matter. Furthermore, her stories helped pass the time faster.

I had Mr. Berry as my instructor and he was AWESOME! He was enthusiastic, entertaining and really knew his facts. He made an effort to engage with every member of the class and created a fun and easy going environment while still effectively educating everyone on GA driving laws. When we got there they offered coffee and danishes and gave 10 minute breaks every so often as well as an hour lunch break. There is a variety of food options surrounding the area so it was easy to step out and actually enjoy your meal and still make it back on time. The material we learned was extremely informative - It made me realize how many driving rules I was unaware of or had changed over the years. He even knew the typical fine for almost every traffic/driving violation. I thought I would have nothing to learn from this class but now I find myself telling people random facts and tips on defensive driving. If you have or want to take a defensive driving class come to A-1 driving!! Great experience all around.

I dreaded the day... but to my surprise the day went by quickly! The front desk staff was upbeat and the instructor, Katie, was just delightful, informative, realistic, and helpful. A-1 driving school was very conveniently located.. they even paid for my Philly cheese steak from the café next door. Well worth the investment.

Despite being required to attend the class, the instructor (Millicent Scott) made the class very informative and enjoyable. I learned tons of good information regard risk reduction and how the choices we make impact the outcomes, good or bad, in our lives. The location is extremely convenient if you live in the Midtown/Buckhead/Morningside area. We were given 10-minute breaks every 75-90 minutes which helped to break up the class. I must say I was NOT looking forward to taking this class but I'm glad I did and I wish I would've learned this information earlier in my life! This class is also good for parents wanting to encourage their children to make better choices and stay safe.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised that I found it to be quite beneficial. The school is in a good location and the staff was very friendly. I took the Defensive Driving class online because of COVID-19. Took breaks often so it wasn't too painful. Mr. Turner was great. The cost, $95 is what is mandated by the state, so anywhere you go it will be the same price. Because of that, I recommend A-1.

The teacher was very informative on all sorts of information. He made the class go by with ease. Goes over all laws and things to watch out for on the road. I happened to forget the teachers name, but he was a great guy and could make a quick joke to put a smile on your face.

When I initially signed up, I thought this class was going to be a miserable experience... 20 hours in 3 days!? Fortunately the instructor was really fun and kept things interesting the whole time. They pay for a sandwich from next door, plenty of breaks, and I even got a gas card. You can't beat this place if you're mandated to take defensive driving. Thanks A-1!

Pros: - The instructor was about as engaging as you could ask for in a defensive driving course - I received my certificate the next business day, as stated. Cons: - The facilities are not conducive to learning. Random assortment of chairs, small TV where the entire day is centered around, strange room layout. Don't think they invest a ton of the money back into the place to make it better. - No restaurants/coffee shops in walking distance, except for one sandwich shop. Conclusion: - If you have to take defensive driving, this is a good place to go. - I'm sure some of the 5 star reviews are organic...

Definitely breaks the stereotype when it comes to a defensive driving class. Comfortable chairs, 10 min breaks every hours, information that can really apply to the real world. I learned some laws I wasn't aware of and my instructor kept things entertaining. Also the class includes a free Philly cheese stake a few shops down! Over-all a really great experience!

Mr. Larry Meade was outstanding. I honestly came into the class thinking that this was just a boring class I had to take. But he made it very interactive. He made it a point to learn everyone's name, despite the diffuculty. He not only made the class interesting, but we learned and payed attention. He is an amazing individual.

These classes, no matter where you take them, are mostly a waste of time, since they all use the same super easy, lowest common denominator, state-provided course materials, but at least at A-1, everyone seemed friendly, the facilities were clean, and the experience was, overall, as pleasant as something like this could be. I took the defensive driving class with Harry, an older gentleman that was really nice and had a good sense of humor.
