Reviews of Alaska Driving Academy

Alaska Driving Academy has been an amazing experience! my only regret is not doing it sooner. Before enrolling I had my doubts if I would be able to drive a tractor trailer but I quickly realized that if I listen to the instructors and put what I learned in the classroom to use in the truck you will succeed. The entire staff is great people that only want the best for their students. You immediately feel welcomed and part of the ADA family.
A better future is only 20 days away!

Connectivity, Capability and Optimism.
3 of the biggest aspects that encompass Alaska Driving Academy as a whole. Before making the decision to attend ADA’s Entry Level Driver’s Training program, I knew close to nothing about trucks, the industry, or what to expect — especially as a woman.
Coach Chris, Miss Misty and the Crew promised that from day 1 they would give you 100%, and they carried that promise through to the end of the program. Week 1 definitely kicked my butt. Not because the coursework was hard, but because I had the opportunity to identify my weaknesses and strengths. It was hard for me to allow my successes to outshine my weaknesses. Coach Chris and Mark told me that instead of trying to perfect everything, I just need to turn everything into a dance. Hearing that helped me to flip my switch. I turned each mistake into an opportunity for me to get creative and plan my dance instead of getting complacent.
I can’t wait to see where this new chapter in life takes me. Thanks ADA for playing a huge part in getting my foot in the door, helping me make connections, and most importantly, allowing me to grow a passion for the industry. Richard, Miss Adrienne, Miss Melissa, Dr. D, Rubber Duck, Mark, Cowboy, Pops, Ed, Coach, Coach’s Son, all staff, and mostly Miss Misty.. I will forever be grateful to have been blessed with the endless amount of support and guidance from you all. I’ll never forget you, forever family. ADA Gang ♥️

It is with great pleasure and honor to be apart of this life changing career. I've never thought that I would make it this far trying to get my CDL certification but with the help and support from our instructors learning and embedding new information; safety, pro and cons of becoming a Truck driver and also being a reliable person. I have to say it’s not an easy course but our instructors were very flexible to lend a helping hand and the hands-on activities really gave me a good understanding of how and what to do when situations occur. I'd say this to anyone out there, if you want a solid foundation come through ADA.I would recommend ADA to any of my friends and families who would want to pursue this industry. Donny did an amazing job in class teaching, and so was Coach Chris.💯🙏
Special Thanks goes out to Coach Chris, Mrs.Misty, Donny, Danny aka "Pops", Robby Aka "Cowboy", Mark and all of ADA staffs🙏💯🙌

Whoever you are, If you are reading this. Have no fear this is the school for you!
Coming into the school for the first time I was concerned about my lack of experience with tractors & trailers but within the first week I knew that I had chosen the right school for myself to better my knowledge of this career field. All the staff are great to work with & they are all very informed and passionate about what they all say.
Coach Chris & Donny are very detailed with every subject matter that’s involved in this field, they go above and beyond to better the students understanding of what it’s like to be a professional truck driver & they work their hardest to show you that they are standing behind you and want you to succeed. All of the instructors are amazing & go out of their ways to explain the process of driving, backing & how to operate these types of vehicles & I can say from what time I’ve spent here so far that in these last 3 weeks I went from knowing absolutely nothing to knowing much more then I thought I would have with going to school for this career field & that’s all thanks to coach Chris & Donny & all of the instructors. Could not have chosen a better place to learn about this career field. I appreciate everyone’s efforts, attention to detail & their determination to show every single student that they all matter & that they can do this. Hands down the best school you could find & got to, to obtain a class A CDL.

Thank you ADA. I appreciate the strong support from not only the staff, but my peers as well in both the truck and in the classroom. I grew a lot throughout the program, and my personal growth wouldnt be anywhere near as high as it is now without Pops. He guided me toward building my skills in the truck from the ground up. He never gave up on me, and most importantly, helped me build the confidence I need to get started in the industry. I'll never forget about the connections I've made with everyone. Last but not least, LETS GO DUKE BOYS!

Alaska Driving Academy has been a great experience for me. From my first phone conversation with “Coach” I knew they were the ones to go with. I had spoken with the other training companies and they weren’t as personable. Coach told me they don’t want you to just pass your CDL exam, they want you to finish on top and to be a safe driver. The instructors are very knowledgeable which comes from their experience in the driver’s seat. They have a great training system, all you have to do is follow it.
I would recommend Alaska Driving Academy to anyone who needs to get a CDL or anyone who needs to upgrade. If you are worried about the location and you don’t live there, housing is provided. No extra fee. No brainer. What are you waiting for?

The trucking world is made for anyone who desires life on the road. The instructors and driving
instructors at ADA will give their all and make it worthwhile, as well as, the administrative crew.
Meeting the ADA standards on the website they provided seemed impossible, but with the
commitment needed, you will succeed. I chose them because I wanted to experience more in
class and drive time. Not very many places in Alaska do what ADA does.
Every day during the twenty-day course, I’ve learned something new and improved my
knowledge about the pre-trip inspection, enroute, and post-trip inspection of a CMV. I’ve learned
that there was more than one type of jackknife. I’ve learned that these CMV’s need to be highly
respected. ADA helped me calm my nerves and gave me confidence on the most dangerous
times on the roads in Alaska. I’m only saying the most dangerous road because it started to
snow our first day of shifting/driving. I’ve never driven a 9-speed in my life.
I have to say, thank you to all involved. Mrs. Misty thank you for getting me situated and
registered. You are the face behind it all! Ed Martin the president and mechanic… You’ve got to
have a best friend starting with a mechanic in the CMV industry. Thank you for trusting me with
your equipment and letting me practice shifting the tractor trailers.. Most of all thank you for
educating me about the safeties of the CMV’s functions and educating me about the safeties of
everyday stuff that we don’t think about like fueling with no distractions. Thank you Coach Chris
for teaching me in class and checking up on my studies. It was a huge pleasure getting to know
you and how you wanted to start ADA! Outstanding job! Thank you Coach Donny for being
there even though you had to attend family matters. Your resting-*it**-face almost had me
fooled. You are so funny! I hope all is well at home and Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you Mark
Winters for accepting me as your female student and trusting me to make the necessary
mistakes to be the safest driver possible with StormBreaker. Thank you Dan aka Pops for
rooting for me on the sidelines. Thank you Robby aka Cowboy for letting me experience your
last teaching class mid-way. I hope to see you in the near future with your success. Thank you
Robert aka rubber dicky #1, quack, and aflac for experiencing the class with us and becoming
the next instructor for the rest of the ADA life. I know you’ll do great! He explains tires the best!.
I’ve learned quite a bit with you in the class. Thank you Mellisa Williams for getting me involved,
and I know you’ll recover and return to the team very soon! Thank you Richard for being my
main test instructor and keeping me safe. I mostly thank you for keeping the lodge safe. I’d love
to thank Adrien for checking up on my emotional needs and physical needs while staying at the
lodge. Thank you Josh Green for coordinating this education. Thank you for finding my most
prized possession in the lodge. Thank you for looking after the facility and your love of the
program! Most of all, thank you for letting me stay at the lodge. Thank you DMV staff for always
welcoming me with heart-warming smiles!
In the lodge, I was one of two females residing there. Kori… Thank you for just being there. You
helped me to just keep on keeping on. Happy Thanksgiving and I miss you already! Matt N. (My
assigned partner), I will never forget your overstimulated smile and that laughter will forever be
in my head whenever something unexpected happens. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your
family. Larry, thanks for making class time the best of my laughs, you owned that! GearMan,
thank you for bringing us together when we needed to be there. You make me proud!

At first I was nervous about driving these trucks. Not having any experience or knowing how to drive manual actually helps out in the long run. These instructors will do everything they possibly can to help you succeed but you have to put in the effort as well to be successful.
I am very grateful to have heard about Alaska Driving Academy from a friend that attended here as well. They go in depth the whole course about how to be a professional truck driver. It opens up oppurtunities that I never thought I would ever have. I am thankful to have learned all that I did at ADA! -23/01.

They raise the bar for learning and push you to be the best, Donny is a good classroom instructor if he sees potential in you he will push you hard to get it done. Jerry the Aztec instructor will also push you to do good, Listen and do what’s told of you and you will succeed, a lot of info all at once just comply yourself and you will make it. I’m glad and proud that I went to ADA they made me a better driver.

Alaska Driving Academy was by far the best experience of my life. During my time in school, the faculty made sure that us students were able to capture every important detail about the trucking experience. It was challenging at first, however with the faculty’s reassurance and their knowledge in the trucking field, it helped us and especially myself to push forward and complete the 4 week course successfully. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who is trying to get their CDL license. It is a great experience and also a good learning environment with knowledgeable instructors. Best believe you will not be disappointed with the outcome.
