You are always greeted with a friendly smile and welcome from the receptionist! Whether your appointment is with a dentist or a hygienist you are seldom kept waiting. And you are treated with respect and a caring attitude from both the professional staff and office personnel. Everyone has your best interest at heart and will do whatever is necessary to help you keep your teeth and gums the healthiest. Little wonder that I have been a patient there for over thirty years! The Art of Dentistry is awesome.

For the longest time, I dreaded going to the dentist. I switched dentists and came here a few years ago and my experiences have only been positive. The hygienists, dentists, and receptionists have always been incredibly kind. Any questions I have are always answered and they even follow up at my next visit to ensure my questions are answered. We have been going to The Art of Dentistry for 40 years. This includes myself, husband, son and father. Dr. Abbey Horowitz is an amazing dentist and has cultivated a wonderful caring team from the office staff to the hygienists and the fellow dentists. I am so thrilled to now have straight teeth from a 3-1/2 year Invisalign plan! This shows the perseverance and compassion of this practice in giving their patients the best possible care and outcomes. I've been fortunate not to need anything major done, but when I do, I completely trust in the competency of both Dr. Horwitz & Dr. Dorfman. One of the reasons I moved to this practice was tiring of seeing a dentist that was constantly trying to "find" work that 'needed' to be done. This practice doesn't operate that way.

My Dentist for the past 43 years retired, and quite frankly, had been spoiled by the staff in his office. He referred me to Dr. Dorfman. I must admit there was a little anxiety as I drove to my first visit. The staff greeted me with a smile when I arrived, and were attentive. First off, check in was easy, wait time was next to nil and the services provided to me were exceptional. I have visited the dentistry on 4 occasions the past year, 2 exams, one cleaning, a molar extraction with bone graft and a follow up exam. I’ve waited until now to provide a review. The administrators, hygienists, equipment technicians and dentists have all been very professional and the results have mirrored the professionalism. I’m super satisfied with this office and all its staff.

I have gone to this practice since 1980. I highly recommend it. All of my friends use these dentists as well. They are simply outstanding. They also give back to the community. One dentist participated in Operation Smile with his staff and other charities like that. He went to underprivileged countries and did dental work to help children with open cleft deformities. They are so knowledgeable, friendly and professional. For years, they’ve won the newspaper’s Best at the Beach awards which are voted on by subscribers and residents. There’s a reason for that. They are the best!!!!!

I didn’t have a dentist so I called their practice because I was experiencing pain in my back tooth. The receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. I was able to get an appointment the next day. Everyone there has amazing customer service. The dentist does a great job as well. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and available to help you. I like that there are no hidden fees when it comes time for payment either. They have a long term customer.

Nov 2nd revision: Abby has basically retired and with that said changes have their way into modern business as they should. Yesterday a 30 second "evaluation" on a broke crown cost me $90 ( no insurance ) . Truthfully I could have stayed home and saved money until I was ready to spend the money for the replacement, Lesson learned. THE ONE.. THE ONLY.. THE LEGEND..ABBY. I cannot say enough good things about this man as a dentist and person one small paragraph. He has worked on my and my family’s mouth through the worst finical times of my life and has always made sure I’ve revived proper dental care at reasonable rates. Am I biased a little,?? heck ya and proud of it. Looking forward to my next visit.

Having bad luck with dentists and moving around a lot I had the pleasure of coming across Dr.Dorfman and his staff in 2015, in addition to pleasant service I decided to have a large cosmetic procedure done and it was well worth it. Dr.Dorfman changed my life!, and changed it for the better, Jenny , my hygienist is also beyond skilled and good at her job, helps that she loves it so much. Short wait time. They have a crown making machine and were able to make my bicuspid crown in 20 mins. I was able to see Darren Dorfman DDS and he told me what was possible. Within 2 hours I had a new crown. Amazing!

I have been going to this dental office for the past 25 plus years and I would not change a thing. Their office is 30 minutes from my home, but it is worth the travel. They are always on-time, super friendly, and very accommodating. The office is clean and the entire staff is great. When I do have to have dental work done, there is never an issue. The procedures have all been successful the first time with no pain and no follow up required. I have had the same hygienist for more than 10 years (my other one retired), and she is amazing. Went for my regular cleaning appointment with Jenny Ross. I had another good checkup and cleaning Tuesday. I am now on cleanings every 4 months instead of every 3 months because I am using my electric toothbrush twice everyday for at least 2 minutes each time. I came here for a second opinion regarding a minor crack in my tooth. While my regular dentist couldn't offer any remediation beyond "watch and wait," Dr. Dorfman offered to shave the tooth down ever so slightly so that when I bite, I wouldn't hit that tooth as hard. It made an immediate difference and now I can chew more comfortably on my right side again - a huge relief!! The office is very technologically advanced, with top of the line photographing instruments, x-ray capabilities, and more. I was very impressed with the knowledge of the dental assistants as well, who made a point of educating me about the technology and the remediation that was offered. All in all, I felt like a part of the conversation, which was a nice relief since it can be a little scary to go to the dentist sometimes. I would definitely recommend this practice to anyone looking for an excellent dentist and team of professionals!

I have been going to Abbey Horwitz since I was a kid and now that I have a family myself it was important to me to make sure they too had a great dentist as well. Katherine by far is one of the best hygienist, but all the staff there is wonderful. This past appointment my whole family went as a group not only did the accommodate us all they made it a wonderful experience for my daughter whom was having her very first dental cleaning. Her hygienist made her feel comfortable and made her feel safe the entire time. My husband’s hygienist even allowed her to sit in with my husband to observe, talk about a team that cares about their patients and their level of comfort. I had the BEST experience during my visit today. My dental hygienist, Sue, was absolutely amazing. She was encouraging and answered all my questions and concerns! We talked and were able to joke around for most of my exams and general check up. Since I had quite a bit of tartar buildup, she was very patient with me and my sensitive gums as she worked, using different methods to make sure my visit was as pleasant and pain free as possible. I have to go back next week to finish cleaning up and will have to make an appointment in the near future for a small cavity needing to be filled and a wisdom tooth removal, but I can say that I am no longer afraid to go to the dentist!! It also feels great knowing their staff does genuinely care about their patients' experiences.

Going to the dentist is never a great day. At the minimum you're going to be poked and prodded a bit and told everything is fine until your next visit. Worst case you're getting dental work done instead of just a cleaning. Abbey Horwitz DDS & Associates minimize the annoyances with a normal visit and have been the best dentist office I've visited. After a few years now they still are the best dentist experience I've had. I don't know if it gets any better than this when it comes to a dentist, but they've made the case so far. I've been to some very decked out dental offices and this one doesn't have TVs with cable for patients, floating touch screens for med personnel, etc. But dental service is high quality, which is more important. WOW, just WOW, never thought that I would look forward to Dentistry visits but Dr D and all staff was/is efficient yet gentle throughout the entire procedure(s) including billing. Since I am terrified by syringes, I insisted upon no local anesthetic. They initially questioned that decision but agreed to proceed with caution. The procedure was not painless BUT was amazingly tolerable. Wow, these folks are great at what they do and I am very greatful and happy to have found them. Luckily, the area I am in has awards every year for the best businesses in Hampton Roads and Dr. Abbey Horwitz won the area in Virginia Beach in 2013 and many other years so that was my decision. I was happy with the service. I called to schedule an appointment and the process was very simple and friendly. I was greeted with a warm welcome and did not have to wait long at all to be seen by the dental hygienist, Beth! She was awesome! She had the friendliest smile and walked me through everything we were going to take care of during my exam including taking care of the things that I was inquiring about such as invisalign. Dr. Hoffman then came in and examined me and he was very thorough and welcoming. He gave me his recommendations and referrals to make sure I walked out of there knowing all my options when it comes to my teeth :) The check out process was also very easy, they had everything ready to go and answered all my questions. I really enjoyed this dental office and would recommend it to anyone, especially if you are new in the area and just signed up for tricare dental program for military!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! After my cleaning, I decided to have trays made so that I can whiten my teeth at home. This process was done right then and there by another team member who took the time to explain the process to me from A to Z. So in less than a week, I will return to the office, be fitted with the trays and educated on the "how to'" in teeth whitening! Now I really do understand what is meant when the expression SERVICE with A SMILE is coined....they MUST be talking about Abbey Horwitz DDS + Associates!!

Despite my fears that the procedure might be painful, and leave me in some discomfort for several days, I can genuinely say that none of my fears materialized. I have been a patient for more than 15 years. During my younger years I was a white knuckle gripper in the chair. Past experiences at other dental offices were horrible. Now I am relaxed, enjoy my visits and actually cannot wait until I get to see Kathryn each visit. And of course when Dr. Horwitz comes in, he brightens my day. My appointment has never been delayed. When I have needed additional work, they have managed to fit me in while I was already there which is huge for me. The most major dental work I have ever had in my life is an unexpected crown. Dr. Horwitz was honest with me and gave me several options. Each costing more than the previous one. He recommended we start with a crown and let me know that there was a possibility it may not work and I might have to have a root canal. It was a gamble and it paid off for me and saved me a considerable amount of money. I don’t know many dentists that would have done that. And, he took care of me 100% from start to finish. All the good reviews are totally deserved. I have gone to Abbey Horwitz three times now, once for cleaning, once for gum treatment, and once for tooth extraction. For the extraction I was in a lot of pain and they got me in for an appointment the next day right after I called. It was a super fast procedure (two wisdom teeth!) with no pain and hardly any swelling afterwards. Dr. Horwitz is very calming and it was obvious that he really cared about what was best for me as a patient. I am already planning for my next appointment (I need a lot of work done, sadly.)

Visiting the dentist has always been my least favorite health appointment, I had avoided going for a long time, but after moving down to VA Beach I knew it was time for just a check up. The hygienist that I see, Kristy, is wonderful. Not only is she extremely personable and remembers you, I leave with the great dentist clean feeling without my gums being water picked to death. My insurance covers my visits, but the prices are reasonable that I would stay with them even if insurance changed.

I actually called to get a reference for my mother who wants to get some partials and/or dentures. I had no idea their office offered this particular service. Abby is the best dentist to ever have worked on my teeth. Even though I brush twice daily, my mouth still produces a lot of plaque. Abby has me on a schedule of dental cleanings every 3 months now and that has greatly improved the health of my teeth. I love everything about this place. There's a long list of expectations I have for any and every business in the healthcare field and The Art of Dentistry hits all the marks. I successfully underwent periodontal therapy with Lissi (dental hygienist) in 2016. She was inviting, knowledgeable, and very gentle; a total natural. This therapy considerably improved my oral health and prepared me for the cosmetic phase. Dr. Dorfman and I met for a couple consultations before agreeing to porcelain veneers. I decided to have multiple consultations because I wasn't sure if I wanted braces or veneers, however, Dr. Dorfman was beyond patient and informative. He made me aware of ALL my options which led me to comfortably make a decision. My veneers look AMAZING! Honestly, I'm not easily impressed, but this place exceeded all my expectations. My fiancee introduced me to this office and my experience was very friendly, smooth, and welcoming. From my initial exam appointment I had to make another because they ran out of time to actually clean my teeth (reason for 4 stars instead of 5). This was okay because I made another appointment later on and they happened to have a cancellation of 8:45 so I took that. I have been to a couple of different dentist offices and this was the first time that any place had checked my gum line. I had always seen posters in different offices of this but never knew that this was a common procedure. The atmosphere in the office seemed easy going and all the coworkers seemed to get along with each other and have a good time at work. Which is a necessity, I think when you're dealing with people's mouths all day. All in all it was a GREAT experience and I'm ready for another teeth cleaning.

If you’re looking for a practice for you or your family you will not be disappointed. My children enjoy coming every 6 months. They usually see Miss Jenny for their hygiene appointments, she’s Amazing!!! But All of the hygienist are well educated, caring and gentle. Dr. Dorfman redid my anterior bridge #8-10 w a Veneer on #7 for proper balance and cosmetics. I had a bridge on #8-10 for over 20 years. I was very self conscious of it as it was discolored and made me not want to smile. He was the first dentist I trusted to do the work. The workmanship of Dr. Dorfman and Blue Crane dental lab custom shading and design is phenomenal! Nobody ever notices that it’s a bridge, most ppl even other dental professionals are shocked when I tell them I have a bridge. Goes to show the level of care and standard of quality work Dr. Dorfman expects for his patients. I smile all day long and couldn’t be more pleased. The staff is incredible, it’s truly a very well oiled machine, I always feel well educated and confident in what I am having done for myself or my family.

Retired millitary who never found a place where I felt comfortable. Seems they always scolded you on how to better care for your teeth, even from teeth that were filled 20 to 25 years prior. Then I found Horwitz. One of those 25 year old fillings had decayed inside, it was absesed and causing great pain. They were so wonderful, first treating the pain, then the absess, trying to save the tooth, and finally making the choice mine as to is it pulled and done, would I like a partial or possibly an implant = it was all about getting me out of pain, and what I felt comfortable doing. Then they got me on a routine with Jenney, a hygienist, she is fantastic! A good deep cleaning and scaling, follow up polishing, always giving thoughtfulsuggestions on how to improve on maintaining my gum health. No more fear of being talked down to for mistakes of my youth. And everyone there is always so friendly and smiles.

I selected him based on reviews. I called on a tuesday due to a sore tooth and got in 8:30 am thursday. I have no dental insurance. He spent over 45 minutes with me, took an digital xray, found something in my gums and fixed, filed an upper tooth that was pushing down on the sore tooth (probably at night). Explained all too me. No pain, pro staff and charged me under $75 bucks. I am coming back next week for cleaning. Double thumbs up. By the way the address is wrong. It is great neck square not circle. So, had a old, ugly and painful crown needing replacement. Went to Abbey because of this new "crown while you wait" technology. OMG. New crown looks just like my teeth in color and shape (should have seen the ugly huge and yellowish old one) and I was in and out in 2 hoursish. The only pain was the shot which I sure wish technology could do away with that. Gotta love technology and the gurus who run it. He is even funny. Double thumbs up... again.
