This is the best place for your dental needs. Excellent service performed by Dr. Dean Kent. He actually listens to your concerns. And he is full of compassion, integrity and honesty; something you'd want from your dentist. Personally, I also appreciate how he makes sure a print out of the break down of costs is provided. And he explains in details what his suggested course of action is for your particular situation! I appreciate his professionalism, and his friendly nature. Everyone should have a dentist like him! And this is whether you are doing preventive treatments, or need corrective action on your dental needs. The front office staff works as a team, I love that about them. And they are courteous and accommodating when you come for your appointments. Let's face it, dentist visits can be hard. Partners in Dentistry makes it a little easier. Thank you!

Capital Valuations

This is the best dentist in the area. They do not overcharge you like a lot of the other ones. They are fair and the work is top notch. I worked with 3 out of the 4 dentists who practice here. They are all excellent and very nice people. They do not try to knit pick you with a bunch of random charges. I would highly recommend this place if you do not have dental insurance.

I wasn't looking forward to the procedure, but Dr. Kent didn't rush things. He spent quite a while ensuring that my mouth was numb to my satisfaction before beginning. During the procedure, he continued to ask if I was still comfortable. He did a great job, and although it isn't something I'd want to do every week, it was relatively painless, and the results were great. I highly recommend this Practice and Dr. Matthew Kent.

After having a horrific experience at a previous dentist, I switched to Partners in Dental. I had a really great experience during my first visit. Dr. Kent was extremely welcoming and very nonjudgmental when explaining my treatment plan. I really trust him with my treatment plan. I recommend him as a dentist! Update: I had to make an appointment because I broke a tooth and I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Bichu. She was very kind and professional. She so kindly worked me into her schedule so that I didn't have to drive 30 minutes there the next day to get it fixed. She is so sweet. You definitely be lucky to have her as your dentist! I 100% would recommend her to my friends and family.

Dr. Matthew Kent is the most PATIENT, calm, caring, kind, dentist I or my children have ever been to. We have been seeing him for years and I enjoy that his office is Holistic. They remove amalgam fillings and don't hassle you if you opt out of fluoride for your children. He sees patients of all ages. My children have gone to him since they were 2 and I see him regularly. He understands dental anxiety and truly works with you as a patient. He will ask what kind of music you like and turn it on, he will talk to you during a procedure to reassure you what is happening in your mouth while you can't ask questions and did I mention he is so PATIENT? He is truly a blessing to my family and I'm thankful for him. I highly recommend him and his offices.

Dr. Mathew Kent was recommended by a coworker 8 years ago. He has been awesome and kind every visit. What surprised me the most was how he was calm and patient with my four year old last year. She had a bad cavity that got infected. She had never allowed a full cleaning at the office and we were working up to it. The initial visit she cried for what seemed like 30 mins. He was so patient with her. Once she opened her mouth he spotted the infection and decided antibiotics first before treatment. She was comfortable with him after that and when we went back for the extraction she did not cry. He even "cleans" my girls' stuffies' teeth they take for comfort.

My son has been going here for about 2 years and i can’t speak highly enough of the staff. He’s been so scared each time we have gone, but they all have showed patience with him and adjusts the exam as they need to so they don’t traumatize him. Each time gets a tiny bit easier and this past visit the tech could even brush his teeth. I should mention my son has Down Syndrome, so if you’re concerned about a dental visit with your child that may have special needs, I honestly can’t speak highly enough of them.

My experience with Partners In Dental Health has been amazing so far. I'm on a treatment plan for 5 fillings, and with 3 appointments done so far I can say the service has been great. They're great at informing me about the work they need to do and educated me about how to best take care of my dental health when I got my cleaning and checkup. It's been relatively painless so far and if there is pain, it's minor and lasts only a day. They do their work with care and can't recommend them enough!

I went to Partners In Dental Health on an emergency basis, because of a broken molar that needed speedy attention. I got an appointment for the next day with Dr. Dean Kent. The waiting area was very clean and inviting, with chairs arranged in a way consistent with the guidelines for social distancing. The office personel was very cordial and helpful with filling out the initial paperwork. Dr. D. Kent ordered an x-ray of the broken tooth and examined the site very carefully, after which he informed me about the necessary actions ( extraction of the molar, options for replacement ) and immediately scheduled the procedure few days later. During the extraction Dr. D. Kent was very careful and made sure that the site was fully sedated. I didn't feel any pain during the procedure, although the molar was big and it took him extra time to finish. His assistant was also very kind and efficient in what she was doing to facilitate the work. I was given clear instructions ( verbal and in writing) about what to do, and not do, to promote healing and prevent infection. Overall, my experience at Partners In Dental Health in Virginia Beach was very positive and I have only praise and gratitude for the people I encountered during my visits, and especially for Dr. Dean Kent. May God continue to bless him and his practice with good things and success.

The dentists here have always tried their best for me, and seem genuinely concerned about their patients. I've traveled around the country due to work, and compared to my dentists in other states, they have reasonable prices for a Holistic or Biological Dentistry practice, so the care I've needed was at least within reach here. I started seeing them in 2006, and they have experience in mercury-free dentistry going back earlier than that. They're also good at tooth restoration and the work they've done for me looks good when finished.

I came to this practice as a walk-in emergency. I read about the dentists and the practice online. I was treated so kindly and professionally. At checkin I was given all information and an appointment scheduled for about 3 hours later. I left to come back, happy to have the appointment. When the dentist heard I had a swollen jaw, she had the scheduler call me right back in. How grateful I was for their compassion for me and my pain. If I lived locally, I’d use this practice! They are exceptional!

We have taken our 10 person family to PIDH for the last 11 years. They respect our choices for holistic dentistry and make suggestions based on those preferences. Dr Dean Kent is open to taking a wait- and-watch approach where possible instead of jumping in to do work right away. And their staff called me when they saw that my new insurance plan would not work well for our family to ask if maybe it was not what we thought it was (it wasn’t! The insurance guy lied.) The work we’ve had done- cleanings, fillings, old filling replacements, evaluations - have all been done well.

I discovered Dr. Kent’s office in Norfolk, and took a turn to the VA Beach office when I moved away from the Norfolk office. Let me tell you about my experiences EVERY time for the past 5 years. Wait time: The Norfolk office is smaller and they can only see two patients at a time, (if my memory serves me right) but I’ve only waited less than 10minutes my entire 5 years. Other occasions I’m in the office and seen within 5 mins or at my scheduled appointment time. The only time it took longer was because they had a child in the chair, which I completely understand! I have never experienced double booking & I definitely don’t have time to wait around to be seen. I love this about these offices! Customer Service: I’ve only had great customer service from the front receptionist/medical assistance & my dental hygienist. Margaret is basically like family because she’s been cleaning mine and my husband’s teeth for about 4 years now. She is always pleasant & holds great conversation. Makes you feel comfortable in the chair & so welcoming! Billing: I had one discrepancy in the past when I initially went to the Norfolk office. I called the office and they immediately handled it quickly and professionally. When I come to this office, it’s like coming to the Chick Fil A/Amazon customer service of dental offices! 😂 I hope it never changes because I’d be sad to find another location.

The x-ray technician was very gentle. The doctor showed me on the x-ray what was wrong. He explained everything in detail to me. I was given a plan of care. The next day I felt so much better. A piece of popcorn took a chunk out of one of my two front teeth on a Sunday night. The next morning, I called the Edwin office, which set up a noon appointment with Dr. Dean Kent. Dr. Kent repaired the damage, taking pains to make sure that the new portion matched the rest of the tooth and that the fit and tolerance were precise. I am a regular patient at the West Great Neck office, which isn't open on Mondays. This is the second time I have had a dental emergency that Dr. Dean has taken care of for me at the Edwin facility. Very friendly staff!! Dr. Mathew Kent is my dentist and he is very thorough, patient and understanding with me. I love that he communicates when he’s working so I’m not having to wonder what he’s doing. I feel no pain after the jelly goes on my gums before the needle and if I do he lets me know that it might sting a little so I know what to expect. I broke my back molar eating popcorn Thursday evening (8/13/2020) which left a couple of pretty sharp edges that could have potentially cut the side of my tongue. I called Partners In Dental Health the next morning and even though my usual dentist was not in that day, I was able to come right in to the office for another dentist to smooth down the rough edges. Dr. Schneider (I think that's her name!) smoothed my tooth to where it is perfectly comfortable, and not only that one, but she found another rather sharp edge on another tooth and smoothed it down as well! Best dentist I have ever been to in all my years. My entire family loves them, even the littlest of kids. None of them "fear" going as is often the case. I love that they utilize a more natural approach, knowing the dangers of mercury fillings and fluoride and not requiring or pushing them on patients.

The front staff was very nice but I was not called in advance about my treatment plan or price. I was shocked to be told what I was expected to pay 5 minuets before my appointment. My wife is in endodontics and the patient is always made aware of what is owed far in advance or the visit date. The doctor and clinical staff is very professional and kind! They were able to schedule me in asap for a emergency visit. I was in serious pain and at 33 weeks pregnant. They took it very seriously, and was so considerate. I have been to other practices and none of them compare to this one. The staff is friendly and welcomes you with a smile, they were quick to handle my situation and get ahold of my doctor's for approval. The only downside is they don't accept my type of insurance, but I will gladly pay out of pocket to get this great service. I highly recommend this practice!

He is the only dentist that I have ever known that when giving novacaine, I do not feel the 'pinch'! To portray the level of satisfaction I have experienced with Dr Kent and Partners in dental health on Edwin Drive in VA beach, it must be noted that I was one of those with extreme anxieties in regards to dental work. As per most times, I found myself at the dentist solely due to a emergency dental situation required me to. I was referred by a good friend and scheduled my appointment. My first visit, it was very clearly recognized that I had extreme anxieties about what was to come. Dr Kent was so patient and understanding, explained in depth all areas of concern, and even though I believed things to be far worse, was reassured that in a few visits, things would be all fixed. I had some pretty extensive oral surgeries performed, and opted for a bridge to repair the aesthetic issue of a tooth loss in the front of my mouth. Thanks to the comforting environment and good nature of the Dr as well as the staff, I now have no anxieties and make regular visits for preventive maintenance as well. People tend to overlook the impressions made via any front office staff and I feel it would be a injustice to not mention the very personable and wonderful personality of Jalissa, I believe spelling is correct, and I give equal credit to her and her ability to relate to clientele as if making a friend, not just another time slot. So thank you Partners in dental health for everything, I recommend this practice to anyone at all whether in need of dental work or just switching to a great practice with great people.

The office staff failed to update my profile and kept calling and calling to get my insurance BEFORE the appointment or else... I would have to pay for the service ahead of time. Then charge me a $25 fee for canceling. ‘Office Policy’. People wonder why healthcare is so expensive and insurance costs keep going up. Why is healthcare so focused on charging insurance... I give Dr. Kent 5 STARS along with all the staff there MINUS the front office people. They failed to update my information earlier this year and want to inconvenience me and hustle me for it. They lost a long term client because of their ‘office policy’ ***UPDATE*** I spoke with a Manager and she informed me of what happened and addressed my concerns. I’m happy to say that I’m updating this review back up to 5 stars and keeping my appointment.

I was looking for a holistic doctor and I am so happy that I found Dr. Mattew Kent. I went to him for a second opinion for both me and my daughter after we were both misdiagnosed from another dentist and was extremely happy with him. I love that he has a more natural approach and does not just push treatment to get money for it. Another dentist wanted to do 1 filling, 2 crowns and put 2 spacers on my daughter's teeth. He laughted at me when I told him that I want to treat my daughters teeth naturally by changing her diet and adding supplements ( was following a protocol based on the book Cure tooth decay naturally). I did not feel comfortable adding that much metal in my daughter's mouth and told him I do not want any treatment. Three months after following that protocol I we went for a second opinion with Dr. Kent. He told me that she does not need any filling, crowns or spacers and to keep doing what we were doing. I don't know if the protocol was working or if the other dentist just didn't care and was just pushing treatment, or BOTH, but I am very happy that Dr. Kent agrees with me and does not look at me like I am a crazy mom wanting to help my daughter more naturally and avoid unnecessary treatments.After going to three different dentists I can say that I finally found the dentist that I can trust and I am extremely happy with him. I must share first, Dr. Leong is the bomb! He is excellent at his job. I had to have a tooth pulled out from the top gums of my mouth. He did not hurt at all. I felt absolutely nothing. So grateful to him. I want no one but him from now on. I feel the other dentists in this office is just as good. But I want Dr. Leong! Now the bad experience from the supportive service of this office! 1. The front desk did not return my Driver's license! I was nervous, and after getting my tooth pulled; forget she had not given my Driver's license back. After having to drive back in the rain, on a very crowded highway on a Sat. morning. As I got to the front desk, I never got a "I am sorry," this added to the my suffering. 2. She asked did I want to pay ahead. I said yes! I knew my tooth was gonna get pulled, and I did not want to deal with paying then. As Dr. Leong walked with my chart to the window. He handed her my charts. She looks at me. And asks for x amount of money. Before I could explain I already paid, she said oh you paid! Unnecessary stress. 3. I asked before being seen to join their dental plan, they offer. She had no brochure. And told me I would have to join another day! She later hand wrote prices. I feel I should have been able to join then. And a brochure/printed information at the least should be available. Besides the front desk person, everything else was very impressive. I hope the receptist either gets more training. And apply the proper procedures. Including normal good manners, the simple words, I am sorry. This office has such professional good dentists. The office is beautifully decorated. The supportive staff should match this! I might would not have wrote about the receptionist if she had seemed sorry. She did not! Her only response was, I tried to call you to tell you about card here. She never said, I am sorry.

Unfortunately, Partners In Dental health discriminates healthy people. My son & I went for his invisilign appt yesterday 7/6/21 & even though not a single soul was sitting in the waiting room we were told we had to wear a mask. We opted out of wearing a mask made of paper that doesn't protect against any virus, & waited for his appointment in our car. This medical practice is going to shut themselves down if they don't stop discriminating healthy people with a virus that has a 98.9% recover rate. The gentleman that was enforcing this mask policy also, walked himself outside to take a cigarette break. It's just so sad that noone in this medical facility are educated on this virus that is not killing people. Whats killing people is the masks themselves. We enjoy breathing air like God intended. This will be our last visit for a while.
