When I had a dentist emergency, the staff got me in the same day. We got the immediate concern handled, but I faced an odd schedule for follow up appointments. Not only did they work with me to get me in, but staff waited for me at the end of the day just to make sure I got the care I needed. Ideal Smiles has been a great business to work with for my needs. I'm so grateful for their patience and willingness to help me. I have already recommended them to my friends seeking a dentist because the in-house plan has helped me. These are great people that truly care.

Excellent staff. Excellent care. I was a very pleased patient over two years ago, the last time I lived in the area. I recently returned to Virginia Beach and called to schedule an overdue cleaning. Not surprisingly the office was booked for approximately six weeks. The gal handling scheduling was very helpful, suggesting I could possibly pick up on a canceled appointment. A short time later the same day, she called to tell me there was a cancellation for the following day, which I accepted. Since it had been two years since my last visit they needed to do a re-work exam & x-rays, and weren't sure they could do the cleaning I wanted. After telling them my situation and in the midst of post Achilles surgery recovery, Taneisha was kind enough to use her lunch hour to do my cleaning! Ideal Smiles also laid out timely follow up for me that fit my schedule....before I left the office. Their text message appointment is very convenient as well. If this isn't accommodation and service, nothing is. Ideal Smiles is top notch. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have a fear of going to dentist as I had a dental trauma when I was a child. I needed an emergency appointment and found Ideal Smiles Dentistry online. They were able to get me in on the same day. Dr. Zahir provided me with all of my options for the treatment and got my procedure done on the same day. I'm so happy and thrilled the whole time as I did not feel any pain during the procedure and felt very comfortable. Thank goodness, they accept my dental insurance. I have been to many dentists looking for the perfect one! At ideal smiles, everyone is very friendly and greets everyone generously! They are great with being seen quickly and appointments are never too far apart! I have had 2 root canals, an extract, and probably 8 cavities filled in the last month.. YIKES! Dr. Zahir is very professional but also very sweet and attentive to her work, and her patients! All of the dental hygienists and assistance’s working with her are wonderful! I just moved to the area and wanted to find a great dental office. I found this online with great reviews. Everyone is nice and polite, very accommodating. I came in and had xrays and checkup, also got a dental cleaning and crown next. Susan did my cleaning and she was awesome! Dr. Miranda Lee did my crown and was able to answer everything I asked, was patient and nice, she also kept asking me if im okay throughout the procedure. BEST DENTAL EXPERIANCE EVER! I'm a first time patient who called last week with a toothache. They were able to see me within 24 hours when other dental offices had a 3-5 day wait even for emergencies. From the initial call to the friendly and informative hygienists this was an amazing dental experience. As someone who is fearful of dental procedures I was immediately put at ease by every member of the staff here. Dr. Zahir was professional, patient, caring and sensitive to my fears of dental procedures. My 2 kids and I had our first visit to Ideal Smiles a few days ago and I was thoroughly impressed. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and treated you like family. They made my kids feel comfortable while they were having their cleanings done. My son was a little nervous, but Julie took such good care of him and took her time to make him feel calm and comfortable. I can't remember the name of my hygienist off the top of my head but she was absolutely wonderful. She made me laugh, and it was refreshing to be at a place that makes you feel no pressure or judgment. Dr. Zahir was so friendly and straightforward on letting you know about your oral health and what she can do to help you. I like that she will actually show you what's going on with your teeth so you can visually see what problem areas she notices. Overall I am extremely pleased and the fact that we are a military family and they are one of the few offices that accepts our insurance because they believe that we shouldn't suffer because of insurance problems, is absolutely wonderful. We have finally found a dentist we love.

I broke a tooth on a Friday night, DR. Shabana Zahir made space to see me on a busy Saturday morning. She has done an outstanding job of taking care of me and my families oral care ever since. They work wonderfully with anyone with special needs. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Like most of us the dentist is something we do not like and for me especially it causes high stress and anxiety. After not coming for a long time (due to my own nerves) I came in this morning to have my permanent retainer looked at. It had been put in by a dentist in a different state and it had been causing me a lot of discomfort. This practice got me in within a day for an appointment and overall is filled with a friendly staff. I can’t remember the name of the girl that brought me back but she was very very sweet. I told her I was nervous and she helped calm me down and explained the things that would happen as to ease my nerves. She also did a great job at pointing out things that I needed to work on, dental hygiene wise, without making me feel embarrassed about it. At first we were just going to file down a side of my retainer and schedule me a different day to have it removed and get my impressions done for a plastic retainer but they actually were able to just get it all done today which was such a relief. I’m sure they weren’t planning on spending that much time with me but they did anyways 🥺 I was comfortable the whole time, the doctor kept calling me “hun” which just helped calm me down more during the process. If you’re scared of the dentist, especially after not going for a long time, then this place is where you should go. So many benefits to going here over anywhere else. They’re up front about cost, super friendly staff, and they really do care about their clients.

From the moment I scheduled my appointment, to the actual dental procedures being done, Ideal Smiles' entire staff has been absolutely wonderful. I started going to Ideal Smiles about a year and a half ago. I was nervous because I have not had many positive experiences with a lot of the dentist offices in the area. Each visit with Dr. Zahir and her staff has been nothing but pleasant. The minute that I walked into the door they all greeted me by name which made me feel very comfortable. My hygienist is fantastic. During my cleaning she would always explain too me what procedure I was going to have. During the procedure she would stop and ask me if I was having any discomfort. When I had to have a few teeth extracted. Dr. Zahir did not beat around the bush with me. she was very honest and upfront about the teeth that I had to have taken out. I was very pleased that she sat down with me and showed me my x-rays so that I can see why and what she will be doing. Her office is very clean and very welcoming. Just moved here from Idaho 2 months ago due to husband PCS and needed to find a dentist. From the moment I walked into the door the staff was friendly and professional. The best dental experience I've ever had! Going to the dentist can be frightening, but Dr.Z and her staff did an amazing job. I needed a lot of work done, and I mean a lot! They got me in right away and worked with me between visits to get my dental needs done during my pregnancy. The office is very clean and comfortable. Service Quality: The clinic is new, staff was very professional and nice. Dr. Zahir was so nice and willing to listen. I was pleased with the service and they even made room to fit my schedule! What clinic does that these days? They open on Saturdays and stay late on some weekdays till 7pm. Convenience: I am a working professional and I cant afford to take sick days every time I need to get my teeth or eyes checked :) The location is fantastic if you live in Virginia Beach or Norfolk area. Close to the town center area. Cost: Compared to other facilities, the services are affordable. I know this because I compared quotes :)

OMG! She is great! Her staff is friendly and they explain every thing as they go along. I took my family of four and all needed different care. My 11 yr old was terrified by previous dental work done somewhere else but there...he went by himself and all! My 23 yr old says she wants them to do a complete treatment plan. And my fiance' (who is terrified of dentists) actually was going just for the consult but stayed in the chair hoping to get more done but they had to explain he need another visit for that!!! I love the experience I have every time I visit Ideal Smiles. I just went into the office with my daughter, and I was extremely pleased with all of the precautions that were in place in response to Covid-19. Everyone was wearing a mask, it is extremely clean, and the Dentist and her assistant had special masks that they were using (along with special air filters) during our visit. Upon arrival, our temperatures were taken and sanitizer was provided in every room. I am glad that they are open and making sure that the staff and patients are safe. Thank you, Ideal Smiles!

I went to Dr. Zahir Dentistry office for the first time on last Saturday (07/19/2014), it was almost noon, and my first impression was really good because my name was called to enter her office right on time, this is not what happens everywhere. Then, the lady who starts checking you up (assistant) was very nice and polite, making sure that I was comfortable and preparing to the upcoming exam with the doctor. She also made my X rays very carefully. When Dr. Zahir came, she also was very nice and polite, shacked my hand firmly and started talking to me looking me in the eyes. These are for me, a native from Brazil, very important sign, it shows confidence and honesty. After all her work on my evaluation, I can tell that she is really everything good that people write here, so believe it: this is an excellent dentist office with professional people who is there to do their job not forgetting that we patients are human being, not just numbers. She does explain very carefully all the problems, little by little, and she helps you to understand what you really need to have done in short, medium and long term, so one can plan ahead, in case of the insurance company doesn't cover the procedure or if you even have it. I truly believe that my choice (a woman dentist) was the best I could make, she is everything that you want in a doctor and expect from a woman: detail oriented, perfectionist, hard worker (even Saturdays!) and concerned about what you feel, what you need. I intent to start my treatment ASAP and have no doubt to bring my children to be her patients too.

Fantastic! I am very happy with my decision to go to Ideal Smiles for dental treatment. Dr Z was wonderful. She taught me how to floss properly and actually did my first cleaning. When I returned for a deep cleaning the dental hygienist was great. She taught me about my teeth - you think after almost 30 years of going to the dentist I would know the things she was telling me, but the truth is no other dentist office has taken the time to explain how to really take care of your teeth, both Dr Z and the hygienist (who I'm sorry I can't remember her name) were very passionate about dental health. I returned a third time for a long procedure (2.5 hrs) and my comfort was the number one priority the whole time, even if that meant the Dr having to take a little extra time with me. Highly Highly Recommended.

UPDATE: After being made aware of the situation, Dr. Zahir contacted me directly. She apologized on behalf of her office and contacted me then on, resolving the situation immediately. The lack of communication was the biggest concern I had. So her following up and following through with what she said she was going to do was a huge turnaround from my impression I had of this office. I truly appreciate the time and attention she took to the situation after given notice. Wish I could leave zero stars. If you have two or more insurances stay FAR AWAY from this office. I’ve NEVER paid this much money to a dentist office with having one insurance. I have two insurances and have come out the pocket much more money. I was told that once my insurance approves my claims, I’ll get my money back. A month or two later I noticed one of the highest amounts I paid had been rejected. I called the insurance to ask why. Clerical error on Ideal Smiles part, so I called them to let them know. Interesting that I caught it and they didn’t, but of course not, all my work had been paid in full out of my pocket, nonetheless they reran the claim, it’s approved. One, two months of them getting paid from my insurances, no call whatsoever. Ideal Smiles can’t be bothered to call you or return calls for that matter, but pressed me to come back to back to back to issue money at EVERY single appointment, not to mention wanting me to come in even after I told them I was experiencing COVID symptoms. I’ve never been in contact with insurance companies as I have dealing with Ideal Smiles. Called last week, I was told by Erica “oh, you have a refund that’s owed”. You don’t say! How long you guys been sitting on that and when was someone going to call me to let me know to pick up my check? Was then told that someone would call later that day to verify the amount that was owed to me. Later that day came and went, so did a week later, still no call back. I call them back, asking again where is my refund. “No one is here to issue my refund”. I said what happened to someone calling me back last week? The receptionist at the desk says that last week they went on vacation???!!! So, when is that my problem and where is my money? Now, the total they owe has went down. Now, they need to call me back AGAIN. I won’t hold my breath. Won’t be returning after getting my refund. This is by far the worst dental experience. This office wants you to pay everything up front having multiple insurances, fine, I’m all for quality work, so reading the reviews, I believed that’s what I was going to get. But once you get paid, give me back my money. This has gone on since January, we’re now over half way in June, going on July, and once again, I had to call them to get the resolve I’m at now with them. This office doesn’t work hard enough to give back what you’re rightfully owed for me. Rather you have money to spend or not, you want your hard earned money that you worked for back in its rightful place.

I am 37 and this is my first dentist visit. I took my 3 and 5 year olds kids as well. We all had our cleaning done and absolutely loved the service. Dr. Zahir and her assistant Brit were very friendly with the kids and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their cleaning without any apprehension. They explained each and every procedure in great detail. Danielle from front desk was very courteous in scheduling the appointments and explaining our insurance benefits and expenses. The same day I scheduled my wife’s appointment as well. Absolutely amazing!!!!!!! I being a business owner myself am always on lookout for how another great company does business weird right? Stay with me and I'll explain as I was gripped in horrible pain all through the night Jan 24 2017 I was looking for any remedy from homeopathic to voodoo for all I cared! Point is I researched everything and emergency dentist services came up and I found my miracle. I noticed hours of office thought well a couple more hours and just maybe, fingers crossed I put in for an online appointment saying asap assuming nothing; never have I ever been so glad to be wrong! They called me promptly at opening and I was in door 30 minutes later I can't make this up! I felt like an ice pick was in my tooth working it's way up to my brain! They took time to listen to me, addressed my concerns and could have charged me anything and I would have agreed! The most astonishing part was the very reasonable cost of my surgical extraction, the sincere concern the Dr and her entire staff showed and they kept apologizing to me for any delay, irony being at my former regular dentist everything would have taken longer with a prearranged appointment long in place. I have been going to this dentist since last year July, and from the moment I walked in I felt at peace and when I met Dr. Shabana Zahir I felt the the passion she has for her job. Today was a big day for my smile and although we are not done with our work, I am in love with the outcome. I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff they are so loving and understanding and really strive to make you feel comfortable. There were a few times where I did have to wait a little longer then normal when it got busy but I would never walk away or complain because the work they do and the service you will receive is totally worth it. My experience at Ideal Smiles has been exceptional. I spoke with Elaine by phone weeks ago and explained that I had three children that had insurance that I was in danger of losing. She got them in within days and then the additional work that needed done..she again made sure they were seen. I walked in and the staff at the front desk was very kind and friendly and I came to see a very nice comraderie within the staff. I LOVE to see this. So last Friday which was Valentine's day... I know right who schedules a dentist appointment to pull their primary molar out on Valentine's day!? Lol! Yes I did! I really didn't have a choice. It was either to keep walking around with half a tooth in my mouth or find a dentist that was able to extract my dying tooth for me. I called sooooo many offices. One after the other stated that they were not accepting new patients. Then a couple of them told me that I need a referral to see them... It was so draining. Then one office was willing to see me but when I went there it was so unprofessional and I left with half a tooth in my mouth. That's another long story.... But let's get back to what I was saying.... Lol! I was exhausted and needed to find someone that was the BEST to help me. So I went on Google of course! I searched, and searched then WALA!!!! (I think that's a word....) I found Ideal Smiles Dentistry! I left my information online for someone to contact me to schedule an appointment since it was late in the night. They did call me the next day and scheduled an appointment with me. They did not give me a difficult time like the other dental offices in the area. I got their bright and early on Valentine's day to get my tooth extracted. Everyone was so friendly, very professional, and well organized. I mean everyone was just awesome from the front desk staff, to the dental assistants, the hygienist, and of course Dr. Zahir was the icing on the cake! They helped calm me down too. Cause yes adults do get nervous at dental appointments. Not just kids. Lol! They explained to me the procedure. The after care and etc. They listened to my other experiences on this journey of finding a dentist that was willing to help me. This office is by far one of the BEST dental offices in Hampton Roads! I was a patient a very large dental practice in town and had a bad experience. It was very impersonal and they tried to sell me dental guards at night when I know I don't grind my teeth! (the funny thing is they tried to sell the same guard to my husband too on a separate visit). So this time I decided to try a new practice. I saw the reviews for Ideal Smiles and thought I'd give it a try...so glad I did. The office itself is small and BEAUTIFULLY decorated. The employees were friendly and professional. They offered to get my x-rays from the previous practice and I was able to do all my paperwork online. Love that! Dr. Zahir did the majority of my first appointment and I left with my teeth feeling fantastic. She was able to remove some stains I didn't think could be removed and talked me through every step. I hadn't been to the dentist in years, so even though I was nervous, they were very good to me, and not judgemental. I shared my experience with Dr Zahir here and on the Cedar Road Dental page as I genuinely appreciate what her team has done to help during this pandemic. - I cracked a tooth at the beginning of this whole lock down thing. I had an appointment with my dentist for a cleaning the next week, but they canceled it and told me to call back when it gets painful. I get it. It's hard to see patience, but tooth infections are actually very dangerous. I babied the tooth, and then three weeks later pain started. I wasn't going to wait any longer and I googled for dentists. I found Dr Zahir / Cedar Road Dentist / Ideal Smiles. The website was insanely helpful. I filled everything out, and got a call back (something unheard of from my experience in the area - normally doing anything online results in becoming last priority). I was scheduled as soon as possible for an exam at the Ideal Smiles location in Virginia Beach. I was called before-hand and told about expectations for COVID-19 safety. I went in about 20 minutes early in my mask. I was handed a sanitized pen, and clipboard with the paperwork. I filled everything out and even my copy of ID etc was handed back to me sanitized and cleaned. I have honestly never encountered a thoroughly clean and sanitized waiting space. And even better - the office staff was so kind and polite. They were understanding of my situation, and worked with me during some pretty severe special circumstances. The hygienist who was helping and Dr Zahir came in with full PPE gear on, and I am so grateful to them for being so thoroughly careful. There was never a time I felt at risk. I left with a referral for an endodontist, and instruction to follow up asap for a crown. My experience with endodontist was satisfactory, but definitely held no candle to the care and disease prevention Dr Zahir and her team uphold. I went back today for my crown. This time at the Cedar Road location, and again the level of care, sanitation, and safety during this time is commendable. I appreciate how seriously they are taking this situation as my son is immunocompromised. As for the dental care, she was thorough and kind and patient. The work was on a far back tooth, and it was at an odd angle. Dr Zahir was super patient and explained thoroughly what was going on for me. I struggled quite a bit with my own anxiety around dental work, but she was so patient and careful and kind. I genuinely appreciate her professionalism.

I Never take the time to write reviews, but Ideal Smiles most Definitely deserved my time to write one!!! I recently gave birth to my second little boy :) and dental insurance runs out 2months after you give birth. Due to my circumstances at the time, I ended up only having a month left before the dental part of my insurance ran out and I would not be able to get the couple of root canals I so desperately needed. (One of the broken teeth is right in front and in my line of work in the service industry, it's imparative that I got this fixed!) So the staff here at Ideal Smiles Literally went above and beyond, mainly the Office Coordinator Joyce Davis! She pulled Every string humanly possible to Make Sure that my insurance paid for my crowns because without insurance paying for it, the cost is $1,285 a tooth!!! Which there's No way i could afford between two kids, just having my son so therefore currently unemployed etc... Now on top of that, the most Amazing offer/gesture that I have Ever seen or even heard of, is when I needed to get started ASAP and have the root canals That day, and I was unable to stay because I didn't have anyone to watch my kids for me, Ms. Joyce Davis told me to go home and get my 4year old and 6week old boys and bring them to the office and she'd watch them for me while I had my work done!!!! That blew my mind that she cared That much to make sure I was able to get my root canals done and paid for by my insurance benefits, that she was willing and Happy to watch my kids for me!!!! And this was all on my 1st visit!!! Unbelievable. The rest of the staff is just as warm and friendly :) and the doctors are just fantastic! :):) So, all that, and Ms. Joyce Davis is why i felt compelled to write a feedback for the 1st time!

Little by little I am regaining my smile thanks to the awesome people at ideal dentistry in VA Beach! They even made time to bring me in on a closed day. Dr. Zahir and her dental assistant Julie and the rest of the staff are amazing and kind, they definitely break the dentist stereo types.

I feel kind of mixed about this place. The staff was insanely nice, very polite. The x-ray technician was very gentle, made sure my shoulders didn't get nudged, didn't mind me nervous. But then it seemed like the doctor I got didn't really listen to my problems. I said my jaw was clicking when I opened it, and she just said it was bad teeth. I DO have some teeth that need to be dealt with, but they wouldn't cause my jaw to audibly click when the joint opens. She was still very nice and very professional, however. So I'm confused about how I feel about it. Edit: Sorry if the spelling is a little weird! I was just asleep. I completely retract my confusion. Not only did she call me because of this and explain why, what and where, but she also explained that the price I was given was the absolute worst-case scenario just in case, and that what I need is a lot more within my reach than I thought before. So it seems like it was just a matter of me misreading her, and she honestly did care a lot.

Dr. Zahir is very kind and professional. I have gone here twice now for a cleaning. Both times Dr. Zahir cleaned my teeth. She hand scaled my teeth because I really didn't like the feeling of the high frequency tool for cleaning. I highly recommend this dental office.

Heaven sent dentistry!!!! I was always afraid of Dentist and needles growing up and had a very low pain tolerance. I had so many bad experiences with Dentist who didn't know how to do their job. However, "IDEAL SMILES DENTISTRY" is the place to be. The whole staff is very friendly and honest. I had two teeth extractions done at Ideal Smile Dentistry, and it was PAIN FREE!!! Dr. Zahir knows her stuff & she does an extremely excellent job. They also make it a point to explain every detail that is going to happen & to make you feel as comfortable as possible. A great place to get any dental work done. They are VERY CLEAN with everything they do. They are the best Dentistry in Virginia!!

1 review 5.0 star rating 10/28/2017 I don't know where to begin. This dentistry is awesome! I was looking for a new dentist and checked reviews for a few places. I chose this one because it is close to my house and they are in my network for insurance. When I called, Elaine, the person on the phone was so polite and answered all my questions with no problem. She was such a big help with paperwork and insurance. She definitely knows her stuff. She was even able to schedule me on the day that I wanted, which was 2 days from the day that I called. My appt went great! I wasn't in the lobby but maybe for 10 minutes or less. Everyone there made me feel so comfortable as if they already knew me. I got in the back and Helena came almost immediately to do my xrays and such. She is such a nice and warm person. She talked to me through the whole thing to make sure I wasn't nervous or anything and answered any questions that I had. Dr. Zahir was really nice as well. She was gentle and fast. Then I headed back out to Elaine at the front desk and once again she was extremely helpful. She helped me understand my insurance and payments that I would have to make. She did not try to rush me off or nothing. She made sure I understood everything before I left and again she scheduled my next appts according to my work schedule. This team is awesome! I didn't intend for this review to be this long, but some of these negative reviews that I just read are unbelievable! People are up here complaining about if they can't verify getting paid then tough luck. That is so not true. And for the record they do explain to you on paper about the whole insurance process. People please read your paper work. It also states that your first visit you may be there for 90 minutes and then they will give you a treatment plan and you will have to come back. They are not the only dentistry that does this. And by the way, this IS NOT a fake review. I am a real patient and was very pleased with how my appt went. Just like if you want respect, you have to give it. Well it is the same way when you go someone's office; if you go in with a pleasant attitude, you just might get one back. Good day.

I had the most amazing experience here! I had chipped my tooth over the weekend & I made an appointment online. Usually you wouldnt receive a call until the Monday when the office opened. Instead I recieved a call from the dentist herself from her personal phone almost an hour after I submitted. She was very friendly & concerned of my well being. She verified my insurance that night and had me set up for an appointment first things first the next morning. The inititial patient sign up was quick and easy! So stress free. When I was receiving my estimate, Elaine, one of the front desk people broke down my insurance benefits one by one so I was well aware of what I was covered for now & in the future. No place has ever done this. I was beyond grateful. During my examination she was very quick to find the solution to my problem. She got me an appointment as soon as possible. Which was 2 days after seeing her. I requested if there was any way I could be seen sooner for fear of losing my tooth. I was assured that the best effort would be placed towards doing so. Usually I would take this with a grain of salt. To my surprise 3hrs after me leaving and returning home I recieved a call and was told I was moved up a whole day. I jumped for joy. Before my procedure I was very nervous, I needed a root canal and a crown. I wasn’t prepared for the pain, luckily I didnt need to be. There was none what so ever! Very gentle care, I was talked thru every step of the process. I almost fell asleep, thats how oddly pleasurable the experience was. She even did more to make sure my smile was where it needed to be. I left the place feeling like a million bucks This is now my home dentist, I will not go anywhere nor recommend anyother place but Ideal Smiles. Forever grateful for this place.

Hands down, BEST extraction experience EVER! I went to a dentist to have 2 teeth pulled, big burley guy that says he pulls teeth all day every day, it took him an hour and a half, and 15 shots of novacaine to pull ONE! so I stopped him from doing the other. next day I was hurting, found ideal smiles at 4pm and they said I could come on in! she pulled my teeth in 15 minutes! no pain, no twisting and pulling and breaking teeth off! AMAZING extraction experience! So I set an appointment to start getting the rest fixed and came in a week early and wasn't even told I came in a week early until the appointment was over! I used to to a nervous wreck going to the dentist, now I'm ready to get the work done since finding Ideal Smiles! she's my dentist for life, and I live an hour an a half away from her office if that tells you anything!

I arrived early each time and still ended up waiting. I like it here, but will find a new dentist if this happens again. Sitting in the office right now, its 10:50 and my appointment was 10:30.

This was by far the BEST experience i have EVER HAD AT A DENTIST APPT!!! When i walked in i immediately felt very comfortable, for the atmosphere alone is calming and quiet and relaxing and the secretary was most polite and sweet and always smiling.The assistant was wonderful too. My wait was not long, and as soon as i was called back and saw Dr. Shabana Zahir's smiling face, i felt even more comfortable. I called for an appt. on a Saturday 5/30/20 at 8:30am. to have two teeth pulled that had kept me up in severe pain for more then 24 hours I had never been here before and found this practice on google as being open for emergencies by appt. only on Saturdays Dr. Zahir herself answered my call and made me a 10am. appt. with her I have high blood pressure and didn’t take my medicine meaning my blood pressure was to high for her to extract my aching teeth so instead of telling me I’d have to come back another day which I feel anywhere else would have done she could see my pain and said we had till noon to get my blood pressure in check I went home took my pills came back and she was able to extract them I also have a great fear of dentists I am so grateful for her and her staff even though they were extremely busy they were so kind and helpful they went above and beyond I will be back and tell everyone I know thank you and god bless 😁

Long but worth the read. My 4 yr old daughter and I had THE BEST experience here. The first time here, my daughter was NOT wanting to have xrays taken, so Ashley that works there told her that Princess Rapunzel and Princess Jasmine go there and she would tell them about my daughter and maybe they would write her a letter or send her a doll. Six months later when Ashley saw us, she told my daughter she had been waiting for her to come back because the princesses left her something. When my daughter got a little nervous, Elaine from the front pretended to be on the phone giving Jasmine a good update. While waiting for Dr. Zahir to come check her teeth, we went to the bathroom. When we came back out Elaine and Jessica from the front, Alyssa that cleaned her teeth, Ashley and Dr. Zahir were all crowded in and around the room. My daughter found a present and a letter from Princess Rapunzel in her seat. I think I was more shocked than my daughter! So at the end of our visit my daughter went to the front with Ms. Elaine and I talked to the other ladies. Ashley said they had been waiting since last time to give it to her and that Dr. Zahir herself went to the store and bought that just for my daughter. They wanted to mail it but wanted to see her reaction. I told them they definitely have patients for LIFE! They are all so sweet, attentive, caring and great at what they do. I would highly recommend them to EVERYONE! They see adults too. I cannot say enough amazing things about this practice and the people that work there!

The past few weeks I've been having a painful toothache. I went to Kool Smiles (6.16.15) I was in the lobby for over an hr before the called me back. Then I sat in a room for another 20mins before the dr came in. He took a look for about 5 mins and said we can't do anything till you have these papers signed. So much wasted time there. So I got them signed and came back (6.18.15) I sat in the lobby again for about 30-45 mins. They took X-rays and did a cleaning, not gentle at all. After telling them how badly my tooth was hurting the couldn't schedule me for another week to get it pulled. They didn't prescribe me any pain medication either. That night I cried for 3 hrs because the pain was so bad. I looked up an emergency dentist and found Ideal smiles. I called them in the morning(6.19.15) Mrs Joyce scheduled me for that afternoon. I showed up for my appointment and waited for about 5mins. They called me back, did an X-Ray told me everything that needed to be done. The staff is very knowledgeable. They didn't just say stuff, they made sure you understood. They scheduled me for (6.20.15) to have my tooth pulled. I went in and was called immediately. Pain factor was my biggest concern. There was none. They numb you and they wait about 5-10mins for it to set in. Dr.Z and her assistant were amazing. Mrs. Joyce is so friendly and easy to talk to. I signed a paper to have my records transferred. They are my new dentist and I highly recommend them to everyone. P.s. If they give you sunglasses. Make sure you don't leave with them. They sanitize and keep them for next time. P.s.s sorry for such a long review just felt like I had to give an in depth review of why they deserve infinity stars.

Dr..Zahir , in my opinion was very down to business. I had to have some teeth extracted, and she had a good approach, She went to the point and she got the work done. I prefer it that way, as much as it can hurt. I wanted to get it over with. I nickname Dr. Zahir, "Lady Business". Good work! I felt some pain during drilling, and she gave me more anesthetic and it went smoothly from there.She prescribed pain killers on request, and also, in my case, antibiotics. Very thorough. My significant other, Andy Schoger, was in extreme pain Saturday, 11/4. So much so that he was actually throwing up because of it. The pain had started Friday night, and being the weekend, we thought he was just going to have to suffer until Monday morning (at least). By mid Saturday morning, he was looking for a pair of pliers and threatening to pull it himself, or to try to, because he couldn't stand the pain any longer. I was very fortunate to find Ideal Smiles! I called at 11am, and they managed to squeeze us in, thank goodness!! The staff even stayed past their closing time (1pm that day) to pull the troublesome tooth. I honestly don't know how we would have made it through that weekend if it weren't for them. We are so thankful for their help!!

Hi all. I was experiencing extreme tooth pain on a Friday when many dentist offices are closed. I called around to see if any dentist office that was open would help me. Keep in mind that this was late in the afternoon on a Friday, not to mention that I suffer from severe dental phobia. Not only was Ideal Smiles, located at 367 Independence Blvd across from Pembroke Mall, open, but they squeezed me in during an already busy day. Although they do not have nitrous oxide, Dr. Zahir, Ashley and staff were able to make me feel comfortable enough to go through an emergency root canal without it. I highly recommend them for all your dental needs and I will be a customer for life.

Dr. Shabana Zahir and her entire staff are polite, professional, and extremely competent. Dr. Shabana takes her time to explain what procedures are needed, if any, and is great at what she does!!! The whole staff including Dr. Shabana treat people like human beings which is an asset in Hampton Roads!! She's the greatest!! If you're looking for a dentist and want to talk about your teeth with people with tact and professionalism Ideal Smiles Va Beach (Independence Ave) is the place to go!!! A MUST READ REVIEW>>>>>>Ok I am one that absolutely hates the dentist. My blood pressure shoots through the roof, my anxiety kicks in and it is absolutely an awful feeling. I broke a tooth sometime ago and because I hate going to the dentist I just dealt with it. Well when the tooth became infected I was no longer able to push off the inevitable, It was time to go to the dentist. It was a Saturday morning and I could not bear the pain anymore, so I started making calls and finally spoke with Ideal Smiles. I arrived at the office bouncing off of the walls because I was so stressed and wanted to be anywhere but here. Joyce was a very warm reception but in my head it was still the dentist office. They called me back to the exam room and told me all the things I have heard at all of my other horrible dentist exams with other dentistrys' and I was like yeah yeah yeah in my head. They did their exam and told me that I had an infected tooth. Dr Zahir came in and told me again all of the information that I have heard in previous horrible exams at other dentist offices and reassured me that everything would be ok just llike the last mouth butcherer did. Dr Zahir informed me that the tooth was to far gone to salvage and it needed to come out. OH GREAT blood pressure is through the roof at this point ( to let you know how bad it was for me my BP at that moment was 152/110) Dr Zahir said Christian you need to relax so I did my best to go to my happy place to calm down. Everyone kept coming back and talking and laughing with me and I looked at Dr Zahir and said "Im ready". I sware on everything I love in this world the decayed tooth was removed without incident and with a soft touch. I don't know what the future holds but what I do know is that I will make Ideal Smiles my Dentist hopefully for a very long time. I am not saying I won't still have some anxieties when I enter the Building but I have a sneaking suspicion that they will make me feel at ease and treat me with kid gloves because they know that I have had some horrific dentistry experience. Dr Zahir I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and I will see you soon.

Had tv in the room, they asked if I had any requests for a channel, for lengthy visits this is nice to pass the time and help keep ur mind off what they're doing. Helped explain and hopefully resolve an insurance issue when THEY got on the phone to call. Not making me the middle man since they are more knowledgeable about the terminalology and questions that needed to be asked. It's nice not being told "you will need to call the insurance company.....". It's nice to not have to go in circles, especially when insurance is involved.

I continue treatment at this dental facility and am more impressed by the wonderful service I am receiving by Dr. Zahir and her staff than I was initially, which is hard to do. My first appointment was on an emergency basis, and Adriana found a spot for me earliest possible when four other dental facilities advertising emergency service had nothing for me. My 2nd appointment was a little farther out than we wanted, but Adriana came through again and called with and appointment that opened up after a cancellation. My treatment team and the staff...Tavis, Kiyah, Natalie, Adriana and Dr. Zahir...have been amazing with their professionalism and compassion in my treatment, which has involved multiple extractions at this point. My treatment has been made as pain free as possible and I am amazed at how quickly they can get the job done. I will continue to retain Ideal Smiles as my dental office for as long as they are in business, which I hope is as long as I am around. I recommend this dental facility to anyone in need of a dentist for any reason.
