I am 62 years old and have been to a lot of dentists in my time. My last dentist moved out of state and I absolutely loved her. I also have dental anxiety. Someone recommended Dr. Downs. Long story short, I just had an amazing experience! First, my dental assistant, Bobbie Jo, was absolutely wonderful. The best I’ve ever had. So knowledgeable, thorough and kind. And Dr. Downs is also wonderful. She is thorough and knowledgeable but not pushy, insisting on this and that (unfortunately, that has been my experience). She recommended a very reasonable dental plan and was very understanding. Suffice to say, I am so grateful to have found this practice!!

Recently decided it was time for a change and switched over to Down’s Dental care. What a great decision that turned out to be. Dr. Downs was knowledgeable and professional and gave me lots of personal attention. Best dentist and dental hygienist in Virginia Beach! Just left Downs Dental and had my regular check up and everyone was wearing masks and following procedures for keeping everyone safe. I see Christie as our dental hygienist and she is very friendly and great at cleaning and checking for any issues. She consistently does an outstanding job. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The office is well organized and very nicely decorated. It was a busy morning but everything kept moving in a timely manner. Greatest visit ever!! They squeezed me in last minute for an emergency service. Only dentist in the area to even try to find a spot for me. Everyone was so sweet to me. In and out service as well. UPDATE : My first cleaning from them was amazing. They took care of my x rays beautifully. I love the privacy they give in this office and they were QUICK! Grabbed me as soon as I walked in. My mother had teeth extracted here and was sent home same day with zero medication for pain. Although she was informed of the recovery protocol and the team was very helpful I do think these kind of procedures need some time of pain management. Nonetheless we are happy with our experience here and would recommend them to friends and family.

Downs Dental Care is truly a unique and special place. It is like walking into a beautiful 5 star resort, where you are going to visit your friends, who quite fortunately are highly skilled administrative and medical dental professionals. I was very fortunate to find myself at Downs Dental Care 10 months ago with a most unfortunate dental disaster. Actually, it would not be an exaggeration to call it a life altering disfiguring disaster that was not going to be easy to fix. Because of Dr. Paige Downs, Adriana, Bobbie Jo and Mistina, I have my smile back and I feel like me again. That in and of itself is amazing. What was also amazing was that while dealing with one of the worst things that ever happened to me, I had a good time with them! They are a fun group of people, who clearly love working together. I laughed and smiled during my visits (believe me at the time not a pretty sight, hockey puck to the mouth kind of look) but they made me feel comfortable. Before long it was like visiting my friends who were super good at getting me healthy and performing the miracle of fixing me. I got to have a good time with them again today, but now I have a beautiful smile. I highly recommend Downs Dental Care!

I cannot express enough how kind and professional the staff are at this practice. I had a dental emergency, I was not even a patient yet, and Dr. Downs answered my questions after hours and fit me in the next day. 2 wonderful staff members called me after 8:30 pm to get my new patient paperwork and set up the appointment. The hygenist who helped me had to be the nicest person I have ever met. She immediately made me feel comfortable. The Office Manager was amazingly kind and explained the payment process, both she and Dr. Downs have a thorough understanding of how dental insurance works. I was very upset about what brought me to the practice, everyone there helped to make me feel better. I highly recommend this practice to anyone who has a lot of anxiety about going to the dentist.

I’ve got to say that in all my 65 yrs I have NEVER had a pleasant dental experience. It started from when I walked in the front door. I was taken aback by the beauty of the DENTAL OFFICE. The beautiful front desk and pleasant/helpful front desk associate. The comfortable waiting room….the pleasant dental assistant…..and then there was ‘Christi” who even though she had to do what she had to do in my mouth…..she was amazing. I met Dr. Miller who explained as well as answered my concerns and my down the road plan. It was simply a great experience all around. From insurance handling to teeth cleaning, regular checkups and Invisalign, every process is smooth and extremely well done—so much so that if I move, I'd drive a few hours twice a year just to keep going here. Additionally, my wife has a thing with needles and dental care from a dentist was the last thing on her to do list. Ownership provided a personal tour of the entire practice and provided background information of how the practice started as well as the vision moving forward. Christi certainly deserves special mention as she went above and beyond, displaying passion and enthusiasm during her examination! The staff are awesome, I had waited for two months for a different dentist to see me and was canceled at the last minute. Like many I have always dreaded dental work, but my mindset changed recently at Downs Dentistry. The atmosphere is more like a comfortable home than an office. I was welcomed with a smile and was surprised when Mr. Downs came out to greet me and take me through the ‘first patient visit’ procedure himself. It was all done on an IPad making it quick and simple. I then went directly back to an exam room ( no typical 20-40 min wait ) and was greeted by a hygienist who was friendly, courteous and made me feel comfortable instantly by telling me exactly what was going to happen before every step. I heard Dr Downs is the best and I soon found out why. Dr Downs spent more time with me than any other Dentist. She examined, explained and discussed a plan to get my teeth healthy. All while being very gentle and professional. Unfortunately I have to return for more work but it will be the first time with no hesitation.

I have no insurance so as a cash patient Dr Downs was incredibly sensitive to this issue. I was robbed at gun point and suffer anxiety. Being trapped in a small space is incredibly frightening for me. I NEVER felt uneasy. No idea how the staff and Dr made me feel completely safe and comfortable, but this woman was AMAZING! Her staff is also AMAZING! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars. She is a truly wonderful dentist!!! If you are not excited about your current dentist I would say give her a shot. You would not be disappointed.

I've been a patient for several years. Dr. Downs is simply the best. Whether for emergency work or routine checkups there is never any doubt that you receive the dental care and commitment to quality that promotes health and outstanding long term results. Going to the dentist is essential part of normal living. Fact! Finding a concerned and adept steady hand you can trust, not so easy. Double fact! I hit a home run with bases loaded at the bottom of the ninth when I found myself in her capable hands. Enough said? Nope! Her staff know their profession too and Dr Downs has formed a great team. I always feel like I'm first in line and welcomed warmly as soon as I enter the practice. But the former spa where she hangs her shingle is not what has me sold. Dr Downs could set up shop in a trailer for all I care (it would probably be an airstream trailer though) because what really matters is this fact; I'm in the most competent hands nation-wide because Dr Downs produces results that are peerless so I'm a lifelong patient. She's always on her game! I unequivocally receive the finest dental service and most most contemporary treatment available at Downs Dental Care. Is there an elite six star rating I can make?

Historically I have experienced dentists who did not listen and were solely focused on forcing their agenda with their goal being to make the biggest buck and/or they ran a mediocre to downright negligent practice. I had a very good first experience here. I'm newly arrived in the area and had a loose crown that needed to be repaired. After reading some reviews of various dentists on Google, I made an appointment with Downs Dental. They were able to get me in within just a few days. My visit was quite pleasant. The office itself is lovely, super relaxing, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Dr. Downs took the time to explain my options, then fixed the problem on the spot and the whole thing cost a lot less than I expected it would. Top recommendation!

My family Doctor Dr. McDermott recommended me to Downs Dental Care a few years back when my regular dentist retired and moved from the area. Dr. McDermott said when you go there ask for Christy to be your hygienist he told me when Christy left her previous employ he followed her to Downs Dental Care. I took my family doctor’s recommendation and wow I’m so glad I did !!. The experience at this office is top notch. From Claudia to Jason and the entire staff. Dr. Downs has hands of Gold !! This office has treated me with total professionalism from the first moment I entered the building. Christy is a highly talented hygienist. She works her magic on every visit. I get my teeth cleaned every 3 months because when I leave there my mouse feels great! Christy is very caring and conscientious always attentive to my needs. She uses the instruments with great skill I can feel her skills when she’s working on cleaning my teeth. I can actually feel she doesn’t miss a spot she is that thorough. Christy answers every question. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am to find this office. Dr. Downs, again has hands of gold period. Dr. Downs has gone way over and above the normal professionalism for me, months back I was having terrible pain with an old filling gone bad. The pain was throbbing. I called around 7:30pm on the emergency number left on their office phone and within minutes Dr. Downs called me back, she called in a prescription at the Harris Teeter and gave me instructions on taking the prescription meds along with over the counter meds if needed and Dr. Downs set me up for a visit the next morning even though technically they were closed only open for emergency’s this was during the beginning stages of the covid. Dr. Downs made the appt. and when I arrived the following morning at the office I was 30 minutes early and in terrible pain even on the meds. When I arrived there wasn’t anyone there again I was early. Dr. Downs was coming into the office just for me. While waiting on the bench outside the office I became sick I felt nausea coming on even light headed, dizzy. When Dr. Downs arrived she knew I was sick just by looking at me. She took every precaution mandated to check me for a fever and the things at that point of time in reference to covid at least what we knew about covid. I had been masked etc. Dr. Downs was masked and gloved etc. I was taking those pain meds the night before and alternating from ibuprofen and Tylenol every 3 hours throughout the early evening and night but while waiting outside I became dizzy and sick when Dr. Downs arrived she evaluated my condition laid me down on a dental chair made certain I was comfortable asked me If I wanted the lights dimmed I mean Dr. Downs took care of me as if I were family other staff was there but Dr. Downs left to go to the store to buy me crackers and snacks and ginger ale because I wasn’t eating at this point for 18 hours or so, when she was evaluating me she realized that’s what I needed because she knew the meds I was taking coupled with my answers to her questions she just knew. I couldn’t be more thankful I was so sick. After eating the crackers and such and drinking the ginger ale I felt better much better. Dr. Downs called in a prednisone med and had her staff schedule an Endodontist she herself went to for her tooth when she needed root canal. The level of care Dr. Downs gave me will never be forgotten.This doctor cares deeply for her patients. I strongly recommend this office and I strongly recommend Christy if you need a hygienist. I’d leave 10 stars if possible. I have grown children who now use Dr. Downs and Christy. #stronglyrecommend

Melissa is the most gentle hygienist I've ever had, and Dr. Downs is the most easygoing, patient dentist. There's no judgement, no hounding, and most importantly they are honest and realistic about your treatment plan and I can't tell you how much that means to me. I've had several appointments over the last year at Downs Dental and after a couple of long needed procedures, it's a really good feeling to be on track with dental care now. I know many adults who are in the same boat I was and put off dental care but I can promise you that you will not regret doing yourself and your health the favor, and this is the best place to go if you also suffer from "dentist anxiety". I recently recommended this office to my neighbor who badly needed to see a dentist but was terrified, and the day after her appointment she sent me a message thanking me from the bottom of her heart. My 7 year old has had 2 appointments also and I'm so thankful that these are the dentist experiences he will have as a foundation rather than the negative experiences i had at his age that caused me to avoid going to the dentist. If I could give more than 5 stars to Dr. Downs and the staff I would! Going to the dentist as a kid was very traumatic for me. So between my illnesses and that I let me Oral care go. I got referred to Dr. Downs and was very nervous and hesitant going to go see her. The whole office staff has been so wonderful to me and my children. I haven't smiled in public in a long time and now that my oral care is almost done, I can't stop smiling. Dr. Downs makes you feel at home and only time I have had pain was after the numbing wore off. I never once felt anything. My kids beg to go back all the time. Today was my first appointment at this office and I couldn't be more pleased! The office staff was very friendly, and the hygienist, Caitlyn, was wonderful. She was friendly, diligent and didn't try to have continual conversation with me when I had instruments in my mouth which I greatly appreciated! At my prior dentist office, the hygienist always hit sensitive nerves while cleaning my teeth and I dreaded going. But Caitlyn was so gentle there was no discomfort at all! Dr. Downs is really the best Dentist I have ever been to.The environment is really happy and fun. My children have tyically been terrified to see a dentist but they love it at her office. I have always been nervous about my past dentists who want to put the kids "under" in order to do dental work. When my kids have had cavities filled (and its been a lot) they have no idea they even received a novacaine shot. I am always amazed that she is able to do that without them even knowing or crying. For me personally she cosmetically did all of my teeth and my new smile looks awesome. Maybe Im a little biased but I think Dr. Downs is the best dentist. Especially if you have kids.

The extra attention given to me on this unscheduled visit was outstanding. My follow-on visit yesterday (11/30) for the oral surgery performed on November 12th left several unanswered questions and I wanted a second (professional) opinion on my post surgery condition.Dr. Downs examined my mouth and surprised me by finding that I had the thrust fungas, a condition not found by my surgeon the day before. Had she not found the time to spend with me, and not prescribed the medication to deal with this fungus, I'm sure it would have gotten worse and given me a painful mouth for who knows how long. Needless to say, Downs Dental was terrific in all aspects of patient care and, on a scale of 1 to 10, Doctor Downs is an 11!

Visited today for an extraction appointment and although the procedure is not fun the people at the office from the receptionist, dental assistant, to the dentist herself made the visit pleasant. A few years ago, i had oral surgery and i was using the rinse prescribed by my dentist, what i didn't know was , i should have not used it for years, one day after leaving my old dentist office my teeth were all stained. It look horrible. My girl( sorry sweetie) hooked me up and made my teeth all pretty. I loved how my teeth look after she cleaned the stains away. Plus they work with you. I will keep coming .
