Dr. Chi and his friendly, caring staff have provided me with excellent care over the last few months, as I've needed root canals and crowns. They have helped me navigate through a needle phobia in a way that no other dentist has in the past, and I no longer dread dental procedures. I recommend Alki Dental!

Cleaning and hygiene was a pleasant experience, I was scheduled very quickly and for a follow-up, and Dr. Chi seamlessly provided quality dental work. He also took the time to provide valuable information about how to reverse some of the things he saw happening with my mouth, which was appreciated.

Today was my second visit at Alki dental. Everyone here is very friendly and professional. I had a root canal procedure done and a crown put on that tooth about six months ago. They did great work and everything is going well with my teeth. Today I had a cleaning done. If you’re looking for a new dentist I’d highly recommend that you check them out, I've been very pleased with my experience here.

I have been a patient at Alki Dental for years and I couldn't be happier with the experiences I have had there! Just like many others, I do not particularly enjoy or look forward to going to the dentist but they always make sure I am comfortable and in and out as quickly and painlessly as possible. The hygienists are all very friendly and also very thorough and Dr Chi is wonderful. I recommend them to everyone I know who tells me they need a new dentist or need work done in general. Alki Dental has been the most accommodating and friendly dental office I've ever experienced. After trying out a few different ones in West Seattle I was so relieved to finally find a place I will go to for as long as I can. Their staff is like a family and they are all so caring and attentive. They go above and beyond to make sure you're as comfortable as you can be. I feel like it was the quickest fillings Ive ever had because I was so comfortable the whole time! I usually experience anxiety going to the dentist but Alki Dental has greatly reduced that feeling through their attention to my needs. The beautiful view of the city helps as well.😊 They offer amazing deals for dental insurance too! We were having a hard time finding a plan that worked for my husband, son and me, and luckily Alki Dental had the best options for our situation. So grateful for this place!

Dr. Chi bought Alki Dental from my previous dentist and has built it into his own practice bringing his very current and skilled dentistry to his patients as well as a strong conviction that his patients deserve the best products and methods available. I’m super impressed with his technical skill as I’ve had two crowns done with him and not only did I not feel any discomfort during or afterwards but they fit perfectly the first time with no issues at all. He also has made recommendations for my own personal dental care at home that have greatly improved the health of my gums and teeth. While I am more holistic leaning I also appreciate he can discuss in detail with me why he recommends certain materials or products so that I can make an informed decision. I believe I’m getting excellent dental care from Dr. Chi and will benefit from his knowledge and skill for many years to come. In my 28 years, this is the best dental care I have ever received. Kind, hospitable, ethical and fun. They respect their patients wishes and do not push anything but necessary care on the patient. I have been going to Alki Dental for all my dental work since 2014 (6+ years). In that time, I have had crowns, gum grafts, and implants, as well as regular cleanings. I have read other reviews and some of the points mentioned reflect my own experience. There are two points in particular I would like to elaborate on with a different perspective: 1. Staff changes frequently. Many reviews reference this. It is true: the hygienist you have for one appointment may be different than the last. As a patient, this does not bother me. The work is always performed professionally and is satisfactory. Often, during a cleaning or a procedure there will be someone shadowing, observing and learning. 2. "The hard sell". Another common reference in reviews is the feeling of being sold to. This one is hard to quantify, but I have definitely felt it, too. It feels like a sell (and it is), but the dentist knows only what he sees on my chart and during an examination, and is comparing that with an ideal based on his studies and experience. That is a much higher standard than I have, so it's up to me to drive the conversation to help calibrate on what is important to me! Dr. Chi has recommended treatments I have accepted, and he has recommended some I have declined. I have always felt that his recommendations come from a place of positive intent, and through engaging in a dialogue we have always been able to come to a mutual understanding of the trade-offs in declining a treatment vs the potential benefits that treatment might offer. All procedures I have had done at Alki Dental have gone smoothly and produced an improved result, except one. There is always a chance of not getting the perfect result; this can happen for anyone with any dentist. What matters then is where to go from there. In my case, we had a dialogue, and Dr. Chi offered to perform the procedure again, at no cost, whenever I decided I was ready. This was above and beyond. When I eventually did have the procedure again, the result was excellent. Bottom line: Dr. Chi is empathetic and professional. The staff at Alki Dental is variable, but as a patient, a quality experience is constant. I feel empowered to take control of my dental health, and that I am in good hands with a dentist I trust who genuinely cares about my well-being and doing the right thing for me.

I have been coming to Alki Dental since 2004, and have remained a customer after the retirement of the former Dentist and the now current owner, Dr Hanbit Chi and could not be more pleased. The staff is extra friendly and attentive, and the current care is of the highest most advanced level I have ever experienced! I highly recommend this practice, please experience it for yourself 👍🏽 I would like to also note, that Dr Chi is a very good teacher of oral hygiene and can explain a system based on scientific methodology (chemical composition) to explain updated aspects of home oral care that is a paradigm shift to old outdated methods. Please ask him about it 👍🏽

I went to Alki Dental because I had to pick a new dentist. I hadn't been in a while and was putting it off because dentistry is not my favorite thing, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I was very happy with my visit to Dr. Chi. He is a very good dentist and a good listener. The staff at Alki Dental are all wonderful and I have even already been back because it was time to have some old fillings replaced (Amalgam, [Mercury, yuck!]). I could not be happier with my new dentist and I highly recommend him.

Searching for a new dentist, I wanted to stay in the neighborhood and I feel quite fortunate to have found Alki Dental on Harbor Ave. As a new patient who recently had my first visit, I sincerely admit that I was impressed beyond my expectations by the service, the aesthetics, the expertise, care, and overall experience. The front office assistant Kiya, Dr. Minn, and Dr. Chi were gracious, personable, and genuine in their approach to welcoming me, getting to know me, and providing a generous amount of care, personality, skill, and expertise. During the visit, Dr. Chi actually took the time to sit down with me and shared knowledge on the most current best practices in hygiene and prevention for optimum care of my teeth and gums. I was impressed at how he used science to bust some of the myths of how many of us currently take care of our teeth. Wow, I truly had some revelations that will impact new, healthier, more effective habits in my daily teeth hygiene routines!

In searching for a new dentist upon moving to Seattle, I decided to give this office a try. I'm so glad I did! When you guys meet Dr. Chi for the first time and he gives you his ear to ear smile.. you too will understand why. Definitely recommend Alki Family Dental! I've been with Alki Dental for years, many years prior to Dr. Chi taking over. While there may have been some turnover in staff, I've never had any issues with the dental office and service, cleanings and other procedures have been excellent. I am not sure why other people have had such an issue with over-billing; I have had 3 crowns in the last year and am due for a 4th soon. Not once has Dr. Chi been anything but professional and helpful when planning the crowns and never has the billing office done anything nefarious. The only billing issue I had was due to my insurance company and the issue was settled relatively quickly with the help of Alki Dental's staff. I have had no issues with any of my temporary crowns or permanent crowns and I'll be a continued patient for as long as I'm able to do so.

This has been the best dental experience I have had across the 6 states I've lived in! Dr. Hanbit was so personable and did an excellent job explaining both the how and why of cleaning my teeth in a way I had never considered. He pointed out some pretty broad misconceptions about how to best care for my teeth and helped me find a better way to brush and what to look for in a tooth paste and mouth rinse (it turns out all the ones on the shelf are far from the same). I wish I could remember the name of all the staff I met there too because each and every one of them was so pleasant and made my visit the best experience it could have been! The whole office really feels like they are working as a team to take care of you. In short, you have to give this place a shot if you need a dentist.

Staff is very friendly! Both of the doctors were very nice and thorough. When there was sensitivity during cleaning the doctor was very good about trying to be gentle and asking if I was okay. Dr. Chi was also very informative, walking me through. some common misconceptions and giving me advice (but not in a condescending way I’ve had from dentists before).I had not been to the dentist in a while so I was nervous but they were great! ***Update- I went back for two fillings and now I’m even more impressed. Again I was very nervous as I have only gotten one filling in my life and I was a kid. Their calm, straightforward demeanor helped put me at ease. I didn’t feel a thing! (Given they were pretty shallow cavities but still). I hate shots and even that part was pretty easy. Most impressive... it was so fast! The whole thing (two fillings) was done in about 20-25 minutes. I will definitely be coming back and recommending friends.

Dr. Chi and his staff are great. I recently had my wisdom teeth removed and having a mild dental phobia I was pretty anxious about it. Dr. Chi assured me it would be easy and painless. I didn’t really believe him but it turns out he was right. I’m honestly astounded with how smoothly it went. The procedure was quick and afterwards there was almost no pain, the next day I felt like I would have been fine to have gone back to work if I had needed to. My wife even said she wished Dr. Chi had removed her wisdom teeth since her experience with a different dentist was not nearly as pleasant as mine.

I appreciated Dr. Chi taking the time to talk to me and explanation my dental needs. My only "complaint" if you will, was a lack of adequate parking, as it is a high traffic area. I wouldn't let that so me, though, as the benefits far outweigh this slight inconvenience.

I got my four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Chi two weeks ago. It was the most pleasant dental visit ever. Super friendly staff and beautiful view from the office. Dr. Chi did an excellent job on the procedure. It wasn't as painful/scary as I thought it would be. In fact, I just woke up from the sedation and it's all done. The recovery process went well and Dr. Chi called me the day after the procedure to make sure everything went okay :) Now I'm just walking around, showing off my nice theeth and telling every friend how nice my dentist is

Dr chi is very knowledgeable about his trade [UPDATE] After two visits, I am downgrading my "excellent" 5 star review to an "ok/average" 3 star review. I have decided that this dental office is not a good fit for me. I stand by Dr. Chi being a knowledgeable professional, but the business has practices I cannot recommend. In particular, both the treatment _and_ payment culture is too aggressive and high pressure for my comfort. I was also pressured to provide a 5 star review immediately after my first visit - while I was in the office. Dr. Chi may simply be a passionate dentist interested in getting his patients the best treatment as soon as possible, but I can't recommend his business when I have personally decided it is not a good fit for the above stated reasons.

i was scared because i don’t like going to the dentist and haven’t been in years. They worked with me and my crazy schedule!! I got some work done and they helped me with any concerns I had, the dental assistants were also amazing! I wish O could rememberers her name but there was a southern woman who cleaned my teeth the first time i went who was amazi g! emilio was the dental assistant for my next two visits and made me feel so much more calm and relaxed.. so sweet!! my advice: don’t put it off! just go in, they’ll take care of you!

I tried out Alki Family Dental due to the great location and convenience but learned after my first appointment that they are a triple threat :) They are amazing too! Dr. Hanbit Chi cares about your teeth AND your overall health. He takes time to make sure you understand how to brush and floss correctly and most importantly the WHY behind it. I decided to try this dental office because of all the great reviews I found on Google. I called and was able to get a same day appointment. I arrived and immediately noticed where all the great reviews came from! Parking was easy. The office personnel are nice, helpful and professional. The hygienist was gentle and explained every step and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Chi explained what needed to be done and was very informative regards to any questions I had and to explain preventive maintence! Great view was a plus👍 I will be recommending this place to my family and friends!

The entire staff has been extremely helpful and beneficial, not only are they able to help with my dental issues they work around my schedule and payment methods. If you are not going to Alki Dental, then considering a visit is something you might want to do. This isn’t your typical dental office. It has a sense of serenity, grounding, and has more the feel of a spa or nice yoga studio. The office is devoid of the industry standard fluorescent lighting, horrendous medical smells typical to dental offices, and there is no constant barrage of noise nor phone calls from the front desk. The office is partially underground, and perhaps that lends to its sense of quiet. It is easy to reach, right next to the West Seattle Foot Ferry Landing. I typically Uber or ride my bike, since I live close. You will have to meet Dr. Chi in person to understand what I am saying. At our first visit, we sat at a table, and the meeting dealt with more than just teeth; he was genuinely interested how I understood the world. Honestly, he felt more like a kindred soul, and our discussion circled about priorities, the value of our time, how we spend it, what is important to us … If this is the sort of person you are, then Dr. Chi is the kind of person you want in your life. I was immediately impressed with Dr. Chi’s troubleshooting ability. I had been to a number of dentists for tooth sensitivity. Turns out - a simple matter - many of my 40 year old fillings were loosening, and needed to be replaced. Dr. Chi simply applied pressurized air to each tooth, put a spot light on them, and then looked at them with a magnifier. So many other dentists somehow didn’t even do this; they just scratched their head in confusion. Dr. Chi took the time to illustrate and explain how my teeth were being impacted by aging fillings. I have new crowns now instead of old fillings, and my teeth could not be better. It is nice to look in the mirror and see what looks like a new set of teeth. It is also nice to be understood, and I look forward to my dental visits at Alki Dental. - Vince

Dr. Hanbit Chi is a bright and lovely man. His practice exudes excellence at every opportunity. The research he shares with you should be common knowledge! The office itself offers copious amenities, including chapstick. I had my first filling experience here and it was surprisingly efficient. Karina and I exchanged multiple emails in an effort to schedule an appointment, I'm not surprised to see that level of effort given how amazing the entire establishment is. The only downside is that Karina, the beautiful receptionist, is training a replacement. Even if I don't happen upon tickets, I plan on asking her on a date. c:

My favorite thing lately is their portable x-ray machine. I get to just sit in my chair and they come to me. I feel lucky to have found Dr Chi and Alki Dental. They take a different approach - focusing on the latest research around gum health and control of biofilm that leads to cavities, rather than just advising that you scrub the hell out of your mouth. I've used Sonicare for years and have gum recession as a direct result. They provide soft toothbrushes and specialty products. They do absolutely everything including minor surgery, crowns, root canals, and other cosmetic dentistry that typically you have to find a specialist for. The staff is super friendly and professional, and Dr Chi runs a tight ship!

Dr. Hanbit is not just a dentist, he's a teacher. He explains the science behind what goes on with your teeth in a way that's easy to understand. He doesn't just tell you to brush and floss; he educates you on proper brushing technique, what a cavity actually is, the real causes of gum disease, and less abrasive toothpastes and less acidic mouthwashes to use. And on top of it all, the hygenists and staff are friendly and do exceptional work in the office too. You need visit reminders?...don't worry they are on it! Alki Dental is hands down the best dentist office I've ever had and will still continue to have even though I've moved over an hour away.
