Love this female strong team! I’ve been going here for several years. They’re so gentle and explain everything to you. The first dentist office that’s shown me my x-rays and explained what everything is. Love everyone here and I’m always taken care of and treated with love. They’re understanding to dentist-related-anxiety and just really go above and beyond. Bonus: the rooms have tvs. I watched bake-off during my cleaning!

This has been the best dentist I have ever been too. The staff is absolutely amazing. From the time you walk in until the time you leave they make you feel like royalty. Even after when calling. I’m not sure how to spell the doctors name but she was the most comforting and understanding. She literally held my hand every step of the way. The office treats you like family. For years I’ve alway been scared of dentist but not anymore. This will be my forever place to go. This was an absolutely amazing experience. I'm 40 years old. Either all my like, people have been doing teeth cleaning wrong, or they are just amazing. No pain or discomfort at all. The X-Ray machine is way over the top, it sings to you and plays classical music. Very funny. Great friendly staff. Dr. Rimma is fantastic-- actually cares, takes work home and gives you a practical plan, not just "oh brush your teeth and come back in 6 months." Great experience really I even got lucky with parking 1 block away! There is never parking in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY-- so the Gods of Oral Hygiene must have blessed me today! Plus, who is that handsome bald guy?? What a stud and such straight teeth!! Love it. Would go back. You should to!!! I'm dead serious. Dr Rimma is really great. I've been going to iSmile for over 9 years for cleanings and Xrays. There may occasionally be a wait time of up to 15/20 min, so just make sure you plan enough time. Highly recommended.

Was referred by a friend so I went in for a cleaning and basic x-rays. I hadn’t been to the dentist for over 6 years so I was expecting the worst. Turned out to be one of the better dentist experiences I’ve ever had. The women were so chill and fast I left wondering if I had been to the dentist at all. The cleaning was fast and painless. And the 6 cavities I had were easily spotted and were simply made an appointment to take care of them. Easy. I think I finally found my official Brooklyn dentist.

It was my first time going to iSmile due to my dental coverage changing and let me tell you I had the most amazing experience. Going to the dentist is not something I usually look for to but the way they treated me from beginning to end was great! Very easy to make my appointment, did not wait long to be seen, the receptionists were all very helpful and informative. My Dental Hygienist gave me the best cleaning I ever had in all the years of going to the Dentist. The actual dentist (Rimma Portman) who was highly recommended to me, did not disappoint. She was very direct on what I needed to get done to keep my teeth healthy and strong for years to come and I really appreciated that. She definitely did not beat around the bush. Once I was told what I needed to get done the most pleasant, informative young lady named Karla broke down my coverage step by step in detail which I really appreciated very much, especially since everything was covered on my plan. I have been coming to iSmile for several years, even after I moved into Queens. They have always been so well organized and friendly. I get emails and text message reminders that keep me on schedule. It’s really an impressive system that I wish more places would use. Karina has been my hygienist a couple of times and she is just lovely. She is extremely friendly and takes some time each visit to build some rapport before we jump into the scraping and power tools part of the process. Makes things much more bearable. I’ve worked with a couple of dentists over the years and my experience has always been positive. I’ve unfortunately needed two root canals and some fillings. One time a filling broke while I was flossing, but other than that each procedure has gone well and I didn’t need to address again. They’re also very thorough and informative. I would certainly recommend this practice.

This was the best experience at a dentist that I have ever had. The dentist and her entire team we so delightful and knowledgeable. She fixed the problem with my tooth and I left feeling like a million bucks. I don’t know about the rest of you, but most of the time when I go to the dentist I find myself trying to convince them to do something or being told I need to come back to have things taken care of. Most of the time dentist do the bare minimum. This was the total opposite. She knew exactly what needed to be done and her expertise showed. I left feeling better about my teeth than I have in years.

These guys were great. I had broken a tooth on Friday night and they were able to work me in on a Saturday to fix it. Everyone was friendly and efficient, cost were well-explained, and the tooth now has a temporary in place until I can get a permanent crown installed.

iSmile is great, they are located in Williamsburg and you can go to the river after your appointment. The office is clean and they have spaced out the waiting room to accommodate social distancing. There are plastic barriers between the patient and reception staff. Once you go into the rooms, they ask for you to wash your hands and take off your mask, the dental hygienist listen to your request and wash their hands frequently. All in all, a great experience!

The whole staff at iSmile Dental are friendly and caring! They are knowledgeable about dental procedures and answer all questions. The office is very clean, which is important to me. The only thing that needs improvement are the dental chairs, they don’t have much support for the neck. My husband and I both hope they change their chairs or add more neck support to what they have there. I would like to add that Dr. Hallory (sp) is very knowledgeable and is very caring and friendly! Overall it’s a good experience at iSmile Dental.

They charged me $150 for a 1-minute consultation to tell me my tooth was broken, something I already knew. They also tried to get me to use their implant doctor, who only comes in once per month, to get my implant instead of recommending getting it done all at once somewhere else. That said, my cleaning with them previously was great. So if you need just general dentistry needs, they are great for that.

I'v been going to iSmile Dental for like 5 years now and I am very happy and satisfied with the experience. I've done numbers of fillings done, mouth guard, crown, couple root canals etc etc and it's been always been a great experience. I'm cavity prone and have been to many dentists over the years but this place is hands down the best so far. I really like that the doctors here take time to communicate about the condition and procedure with you in a direct, to the point way, and they don't perform any unnecessary procedures as I've experienced w other dentists in the past- You can really tell they care about the teeth. Dr. Portman and Dr. Sohal have been wonderful, professional and consistent over the years, and the office staffs are friendly and caring. Also had the best thorough cleaning I've ever had from the hygienist today- I really recommend this place!

Once again my experience at I Smile was great from the time I first called to when I left after my root canal. The contacts with the staff was beyond just correct and friendly. They got all done so so well. Granted I was lucky in that the RC dentist was available the next day. My one reservation is that the l Smile Williamsburg has root canal work available on a limited basis. Again I regret I can't give more than five stars

I've been going to iSmile since 2013 and Dr Portman is easily the best dentist I've ever had. She's attentive, friendly and highly skilled. She takes the time to listen and was very helpful during my invisalign treatment. When a temporary crown became displaced while I was shooting out of town they stayed open late so that I could drive back and get it fixed (I was in a lot of pain). The rest of the staff are equally lovely. I can't recommend this practice enough.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a new dentist. Booking and filling out paperwork via ZocDoc was a breeze. When I was was arrived for my appointment (4pm Friday), they asked me to sign a couple forms and then I was immediately taken back to a room. The dentist herself, hygienist, and the woman who took my x-rays were all very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I was out 45 minutes later. I'm very pleased with the office so far and I'll be back in six months!

If it was possible to give 6 stars, I would!! Just moved to NYC and needed a new dentists. I went online, did my due diligence and booked an appointment with Dr. Portman based on all the positive reviews. She deserves all of them and more! Her staff reached out 2 days prior to let me know my insurance wasn't eligible. My mistake ( I changed jobs), but the fact that they caught it and didn't surprise me when I arrived for my visit was huge indication of how they run their office.. I arrived, my new insurance info. was checked, handled. My wait was minimal (less than 10 minutes) and my visit with Dr. Portman was fantastic. She is great, calm, down to eart , and her work is outstanding. Honestly, she just gets it!!!

Good experience very nice staff the only Issue I have Is that I called First so make sure they took my insurance and if they were in my network I was told yes and then afterward after my appointment i was told that it my insurance was taken but they were not in my network and I had to pay a copay the point of asking was to avoid a copay so I feel like I wasn’t given valid information but all good still a good place I just won’t be returning. But if you’re in the network definitely pay this place a visit.

For starters, I never enjoyed going to the dentist as a child. Dr. Portman has turned that experience around for me. She, along with her amazing welcoming staff, are amazing. After my treatment of Invisalign at iSmile (Williamsburg), I needed a minor surgery called Labial Frenectomy to prevent my front gap from happening after my Invisalign treatment. I was very reluctant to receive treatment, but Dr. Portman assured me it would be fast, easy, and would be back to normal once the procedure was over. She was right, as always! Painless pre and post-procedure. I recommend anyone that fears the dentist to visit iSmile and ask for Dr. Portman. AAAAA+++++ Thank you!

The office is clean and the receptionists are very nice. 5 years ago in Soho I was savagely violated at Dr Andrew Fagelman's office by his employee who Dr F did not fire for violating my patient rights and my body even though I was another MD's patient -- patient rights apply to everyone in an office and an MD's office is suppose to be a safe place so when I review an MD"s office I like to point out the office is a safe office not like Dr Fagelman's office an office for me such a terrible experience I am lucky I am alive. ISmile is professionally run and is what it appears to be so I highly recommend ISmile.

Shortest wait times Genuine service Clean and inviting I recently starting getting a lot of work done on my mouth and when u say a lot I mean 10+off cavity repair and new ones. Dr. Portman and her entire staff are amazing! The front desk is always super helpful, kind and give excellent service (above & beyond). Dr. Portman is a real professional about her work and does the most professional work while taking your expectations and needs into consideration. She will get you the desire results with kindness. I've been going to many dentistries throughout my life: in Israel, California (Los Angeles and the University of California, Santa Barbara, etc.), but this is by far the very best one.

I visited for an issue with my gums and was charged $150 for 15 minutes of their time, and then I was informed that the ‘in house’ periodontist only works 1 day a MONTH. When I called to make the appointment I asked if they had a periodontist and was told yes, without the minor bit of info that it might be nearly impossible for me to see them. I feel as though I was taken advantage of by people who knew I was concerned about my gums and did very little to help me other than take my money and tell me to return when the periodontist came in a month. Meanwhile I’m still in a great deal of discomfort, and will probably be seeking out another periodontist who will also charge me for a consultation. Money and time very much so wasted and I am very frustrated that any one would find it possible or reasonable for most everyday people to be able to go a doctor at a date and time they have little to no control over.

Their website states that they are in-network Delta Dental PPO. However after calling my insurance, Rimma Portman is only contracted at the park slope location for in-network. This is extremely misleading. I would not have gone to the Williamsburg location if I had know it was not in network. I was not asked to pay anything at time of service. Now I am stuck with a $500 bill. Their website is for both locations, and doesn't distinguish between the in network differences at both locations. Edit: I am updating my review from 1 star to 3 because they were able to resolve my billing issue. They need to be more clear about the in-network vs out of networking billing up front for both locations.

Love Dr. Portman and her staff. Michelle and Karla up front are super helpful. They straightened out all my insurance info and by the time it came to my visit (which was apparently covered completely - so hooray for insurance), I was certain I made the right choice. I broke a tooth, so I had to come in for an inlay thing prep. They didn't really communicate anything clearly. While they were prepping the tooth, they would turn away without saying anything, or leave for chunks of time. I had to ask a lot of questions in order to receive basic info that they should probably just tell me. They all just need to work on clear communication and care for patients. Otherwise, they are all pretty nice, and they know what they're doing.

Everyone at this office is lovely, and I definitely recommend them for general dentistry. I would not recommend them for Invisalign though- in retrospect I should have gone to an orthodontist for that. It was sort of an impulse decision for me to get Invisalign at all, and I should have done more research up front. They definitely could have better communicated the process to me and what was involved- such as costs and refinements. In the end it was really a waste of time and money for me as my teeth aren't much different now. Still, I had no complaints with them regarding any other dental services. Dr. Portman is better than any other dentist I have ever seen in NYC.

I walked into iSmile Dental on Saturday with the worst toothache/headache combo. I had no idea why I was in so much pain but Dr. Portman was patient and a professional. She performed an x-ray on my mouth and assured me that I didn’t have any major dental issues. She took the time to explain why I was experiencing so much pain (which ended up being from a cold I was getting over) and prescribed me the right medication to alleviate the pain. I highly recommend this dental office. It’s very clean, accessible via public transportation and most importantly the staff was very friendly. They even opened the office early to accommodate me on such short notice.

They didn't do some things typically done (like flossing and polishing all the teeth), but they did get the plaque off and all that nasty, but important, stuff. One side of my mouth has very sensitive teeth. iSmile does an excellent job of being cautious of the sensitivity to ensure that I don’t get that painful zing from tools or cold water. My teeth are perfectly clean after the visit. PLUS....you can watch tv while in the chair. I had been going to the same dentist from the time I had teeth to age 37. When I moved to New York I didn’t know how anyone could replace my dentists from back home. Alas, I’m thrilled with everyone at iSmile!

TL;DR - staff and office deserves 5 stars, pricing department deserves 1. After seeing all the positive reviews (btw be prepared for lots of emails requesting that you review them after your appointment) I decided to go here for a consultation - even though they don't take my insurance. Everyone I encountered was organized, friendly and helpful (they even sent me an itemized treatment plan within an hour after my appointment) so zero complaints as far as personal interactions go. It was a pleasant visit and I need a lot of work done, so I was seriously considering forgoing insurance and paying out of pocket. Finding a dentist who inspires confidence and abstains from lecturing you/passing judgment on your tooth-neglect is worth it, imo..that is, until their itemized listed revealed just how much they overcharge. To paint a picture, I've never had a dentist charge more than $200 for *multiple* resin fillings, but iSmile charges $350 PER FILLING. That's crazy, guys. I have no idea how they justify the cost to insurance companies but, damn.. steer clear if you don't have insurance and need more than a cleaning or consultation.

I needed a ton of dental work done, I dont have insurance so I was looking for an office, a dentist, who would give it to me straight, without feeling like Im going to need to sell a kidney in the process. Her office manager Karla broke down all the fees (which were significantly cheaper than other offices in the area).
