Dr. Pivo is the best dentist I have ever been to in my entire life. In the 6 years I've been a patient, I've never felt pain during appointments for cleanings, cavities, or crowns. He and the staff explain what they're going to do beforehand (great for nervous patients like myself) and always allow the time to ask questions to ease tension; The waiting room, office, *and* the bathroom are consistently clean and smell fresh; Dr. Pivo & his staff have not only been personable & charming at every appointment, they make the effort to know more about me as a person. To top it off, the whole staff has the most delightfully infectious sense of humor.

Here in the big city, dentists are overworked and underpaid, so it's challenging to find one who still manages to remain friendly toward their patients under stressful conditions. Dr. Pivo is a rare find. He's super knowledgeable, has a very pleasant chair side manner, and is respectful enough to actually listen to his patients who are also often under stress and anxiety. His entire professional support team is top notch in every way and they consistently demonstrate that quality dentistry is their number one priority. I found the entire experience of going to the dentist really pleasant. The office itself is attractive and the rooms are up-to-date and well equipped. When I entered the building, the women at the front desk welcomed me and assured me I would be seen directly. It’s nice to have one’s presence acknowledged. Every subsequent interaction I had with members of the staff was equally pleasant. Each member was professional and efficient, taking the time to explain procedures as well as the equipment, always with my comfort in mind. It was clear that they enjoyed being part of the Pivosmiles team and took pride in their work. Of course, the atmosphere starts at the top. Dr. Pivo was terrific. Professional (of course), knowledgeable, and personable. He answered any questions I had, and and suggested a course of treatment. Dr. Pivo and his staff are fantastic and I cannot recommend them enough. I used to live in Canoga Park but have since moved to Pasadena and continue to visit them every 4 months for a cleaning because I appreciate them that much! Not only that but when I was addressing my OSA issue Dr. Pivo recommended a great surgeon to help with a septoplasty to aid with my deviated septum/enlarged turbinate which has greatly helped breathing at night. Woohoo! Before then I purchased a mouth guard which has helped reduce the sharpness of my shark teeth, so another win being a part of this dentist office. They're worth the drive.

Dr.. Pivo has been my dentist since he’s moved to this location at Coldwater and Magnolia. I just recently had my teeth cleaned by Gina who did a very thorough and careful cleaning of my teeth. This is my first visit to PivoSmiles. The front desk service is courteous. My hygienist was friendly, informative, detailed and took her time to take the x-rays and do a deep cleaning for one quadrant. I have my next appointment set up and hopeful to have a good experience. As I had previously experienced high tech machines for X-Rays at other facilities, I feel the machine could be upgraded.

Dr. Pivo is the best, he and his assistants have created what feels like a family oriented dentist's office. It reminds me of the small town dentist I used to go to as a kid. I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Pivo after going to the dentist who previously owned the practice. This place is such a gem. His team - some from the previous owner and some new hygienists - are simply delightful. They greet me every visit like an old friend, and Dr. Pivo is so detailed and thoughtful with his care. He and I talk about all these things he researches and studies outside of just what you’d expect in his day to day, and he’s helped me uncover issues with breathing that I had no idea were related to my teeth. For medical reasons too complex to explain, my dental care poses many unique challenges. Dr. Pivo and his colleagues understand this, but also understand that EVERY patient has their own unique "mouth-print" that may require special attention. And special attention is what Dr. Pivo and his team are all about. A great example is a dental prosthesis I have that needed special kinds of toothbrushes to get at hard-to-reach places. Appreciating these challenges, one of Dr. Pivo's dental hygienists went above and beyond the call, diligently researching various kinds of brushes until they found several that might for me. Not one, but several. Like everyone in the office, Dr. Pivo's colleague didn't do this to get some extra service fee; they did it because they are not only a professional, but they care. Their interest in the quality of patients' quality of life beyond the dentist's chair is a reflection of Pivosmiles' exceptional standards.

My experience has also been excellent, and I've been Dr. Pivo's patient since he bought the practice. Very professional service. Reception staff is friendly and efficient. Every time I've had cavities filled, it's been with minimal discomfort and with excellent results. Dental hygienists are professional and nice as well. It's also great to have very little wait time because they don't overbook and accurately predict appointment periods. Parking next to the dental office is also good.

Dr. Pivo’s office is easily one of my first referrals when someone tells me they’re looking for a dentist. His office is so punctual and buttoned up. Everything is a smooth experience from appointments to billing to scheduling and insurance. Then the experience with Dr. Pivo and team of dental hygienists is suburb. They even guessed the gender of my baby LOL that’s how close we are. Couldn’t recommend them more - have also been helpful in finding recommended specialists that take my insurance, which is unheard of - especially in LA.

Coming from a horrific dental experience that left my molars filed too far down, I was nervous going to a new dentist to get my molars fixed. Right away Dr. Pivo's office was friendly and wanting to help! Chanya, was amazing at making me feel welcomed when taking me back to the room and stayed talking with me. If you're reading this, I'm sorry if I spelled your name wrong. She is absolutely wonderful! She made me feel like I've been going there for years and truly listened to my molar horror story. When Dr. Pivo came in, she helped me explain my situation, giving extra dentist language descriptions to help pin point the problems. It's a rare and wonderful thing to find a professional who truly listens. THEY LISTENED!! I left with a date for the following week to fix my molars!! I was SO excited!! Again, greeted with BIG smiles, Dr. Pivo built up my molars. To bite down for the 1st time in 3 months and not have my front teeth clank hard, IS fabulous!! Knowing I needed to get used to being able to use my molars again, but the filling may need adjusting, I have another appointment the following week. That follow up is tomorrow and I know they will listen to what I need adjusted and take care of me 110%. I am SO happy I went to Dr. Pivo!! He and his staff are absolutely amazing professionals that CARE!! I will be having my husband and daughter go for their cleanings and spread the word on how FABULOUS Dr. Pivo and his team are!!

Dr. Pivo is an incredible Dr. who takes time with each patient and answers all their questions and will give you a thorough evaluation of your teeth. All the hygienist’s are very professional and very nice. Highly recommend!

When I more recently learned that he moved his practice to Valley Village, I was thrilled. He is a patient, kind and knowledgeable dentist and person. He has wonderful bedside manners as does his assistant, Shania (who I absolutely adore, by the way) and everyone else in his office. They are all friendly, helpful, professional and responsive (Diane is the best). Dr. Pivo is extremely quick, yet thorough, in an every single procedure he does for me. I had my second visit this week. It was very simple: I made an appt, I parked on the street (45 minutes in the meter), checked in at desk, Doc saw me right away, Doc performed the cleaning and exam, Doc advised me to floss and to use Listerine-type mouthwash to stave off gum disease (I'm 40 y.o.), Doc advised me to consider braces for serious crowding, Doc took X-rays, Doc showed me the X-ray pictures immediately and pointed out where cavities would look like if there were any. Doc gave me a little bag with oral hygiene tools inside. Whole thing took under 40 minutes. Very pleasant, with Doc's calm voice and family anecdotes during cleaning. Here's what Doc did NOT do: Doc did not try to get me to pay for useless teeth-whitening (I'm a technician, not an actor), Doc did not push specific referrals on me for orthodontists (I don't have six grand lying around to pay for braces), Doc did not give me phony diagnoses and doom-and-gloom prognoses (other dentists have solemnly informed me that my teeth are pock-marked with 22 small cavities that require immediate attention). Doc's staff made the insurance stuff very easy for me: I walked in, staff identified me. Later I walked out with my next appt set for a future date as covered by my insurance. No repetitious paperwork. Clean.

Update: I've changed my rating from 1 to 3 because the office was willing to refund my out-of-pocket costs for the crown and, while food still routinely gets trapped between the crown and its neighbor, (just flossed out some turkey bacon), it's not as bad as it was before. I think the gums have adjusted a bit, possibly. Original review: Job: Crown install Pro: His bedside manner was fine. Con: I have to think of him 5 times a day when I floss, which I now have to do 5 times a day, because I tend to eat solid foods in some form 5 times a day, and for the first time in my life I have a food trap between 2 teeth where solid food reliably parks itself in the space between the newly crowned molar and the neighboring molar after I’ve finished eating. I have never before had an issue anywhere in my mouth where solid food remains lodged after I’ve eaten. Never. I’ve contemplated sharing images of the smorgasbord I floss out of my mouth storage throughout the day, but haven’t had time yet. I went in for a follow up with Pivo a few weeks after install to explain my predicament to him. He couldn’t have cared less. He simply practiced defensive medicine and denied there was an issue. His guy took an x-ray at what seems to be the right angle to not show the actual space between the newly crowned molar and its neighbor. Pivo then poked around the tooth, told me there was no “food trap”, told me that while the gums were sitting lower than they had been, it was because they were actually healthier than they had previously been, told me to floss, and sent me on my way. And so, I continue to floss 5 times a day to remove “food” that becomes “trapped” between the newly crowned molar and its neighbor after I’ve eaten solid foods, which I do 5 times a day, leading me to have to think of Dr. Pivo and my unfortunate experience with him … 5 times a day. Conclusion: find another dentist

I don't ever write Google reviews, nor are we ever very excited to go to the dentist. I left Dr. Pivo's office just now thinking to myself how lucky I was to have found him. I wanted to call all of my friends to share my excitement with...Yes, excitement! from a dentist? Let me explain... In my 54 years of life I have been to probably 10 different dentists. I really wish I found Dr. Pivo sooner. I will spare you the details but I will tell you that if you are looking for a dentist that really cares about the patient you need to know Dr. Pivo. WOW... He performed the pre root canal work I needed. Most fear the dreaded shot of Novocaine. I literally asked him to tell me when he was about to put the needle in. His reply was.."I already did it" Unreal! I felt nothing! Zero! Nada. He explained in explicit detail every move he makes. He is so gentle, so caring and trustworthy. I had wanted longer front teeth. After years of grinding them down, I was ready. Pivo performed unbelievably artistry on my front teeth. He lengthen them approximately 2 mm. Took him less than an hour, no shot, no pain, pure and simple art. This man is an artist. I looked in the mirror and could not believe the magic he performed. The world needs to know this man exists.
