Dr. Tim Holzhauer and the team at Blue Back Dental are simply the absolute best! I used to be very nervous about going to the dentist. Not anymore! This team is phenomenal about ensuring patients are safe and comfortable. They think of every last detail. You can request a TV overhead to distract you or listen to music while you get your dental work done. They have surgical level filters in every room to ensure patient safety from viruses. They even have designated parking spots in the parking garage and they validate. The administrative staff is also the best I have ever seen. They go over everything with you and are highly professional. The patient rooms are high end and the equipment is very high tech. I felt like I was getting the most current, cutting edge treatments here. Dr. Tim explains everything he is doing as he works along. He genuinely cares about his patients and this certainly shines through during appointments. This is a 5 star experience every - single - visit.

Let’s start by saying that after some traumatic dental visits, I have become a baby when it comes to all things tooth related. I had to find a new dentist after moving to CT from NJ, and Blue Back Dental has outstanding reviews. I decided to give them a try, and I’m glad I did. Dr. Wu is kind, patient, gentle, and explained everything as we went along. He also said we could take as many breaks as I needed. The office has many high tech devices, so lots of things can be done in one visit. Everyone I’ve met so far who works at Blue Back Dental is extremely nice, helpful and friendly. I can’t thank them enough for putting me at ease and taking such wonderful care of me! I highly recommend this dental group, and I’m so glad I chose Blue Back Dental!

From reading all the 5 Star review's on here I decided to give this place a shot. Today was my first visit but I instantly felt very comfortable. Everybody I interacted with was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! Right from the very first phone call I made, the receptionist was able to get me in for an appointment the very next day! Thank you! Upon arrival the front desk was very warm and welcoming, also very helpful which made for a speedy check in and check out. Thank you to all front desk staff! Afterwards to the hygienist..(personally this is what I look for when choosing the right place for me since I get 3 cleanings a year) Special shout out to Rachel for making Blue Back Dental that place for me.. Best cleaning I've ever had! I really look forward to seeing her again soon. She was very patient, friendly, and informative from start to finish! From taking new pictures of my teeth and explaining everything to me in detail step by step right down to the very end of my cleaning which was a very thorough cleaning! Thank you, thank you Rachel! lastly I met Dr Wendy Austin. She explained everything that was going on with my teeth in detail, things to my surprise my last Dr missed! My experience was wonderful! Dr. Elizabeth Holzhauer explained every step of the procedure today. She put me completely at ease and there was no pain at all. The dental assistant and doctor worked in tandem professionally and respectfully so well together to make the appointment efficient. This is a “state of the art” office. Just started going here within the last few months after recently moving to west Hartford and am so happy with my decision! Everyone is super accommodating and they were able to get me in for an appointment asap for a cleaning. Additionally I did have a few cavities and I had never had one before so I was a bit nervous but Dr.Wu and his team had me feeling extremely comfortable and more at ease by the time the procedure began. Went to BBD for a consultation on several dental problems I needed to address. I met w Dr. Tim & found him to be extremely attentive, professional, competent & capable. He laid out a plan with me to take care of everything in a step by step manner. He explained how he would manage each issue, he even asked me if I would be anxious about the procedures so that I wouldn't come in uncomfortable. He also helped make sure I was able to use my insurance benefits in the most effective manner. I would recommend them to anyone. They're really great.

Always clean, courteous, caring and collaborative. I called Dr. Tim Holzhauer after closing for a broken tooth and was able to come in the next morning for a consultation. Upon realizing the broken tooth was one scheduled for extraction, the office connected with my oral surgeon (who Dr. Holzhauer had referred me to) to get me an emergency appointment for that afternoon. It is now the next morning and my tooth is out, with a near painless recovery. Wonderful service all around :) and they validate your parking! 10/10 post-posting edit: I relocated to the Fairfield area for work and Yes, I drive an hour to Blueback for dentistry. They are worth it!

We decided to give Blue Back Dental a try when our dental clinic became a bit too far after we moved. What a fortune it turns out for the past 6 years! I agree with a review that no one is perfect including dental service. But I truly can’t say enough good things about Blue Back Dental - the clean beautiful place, the excellent doctors and the entire support team, especially Dr. Wu, for taking best care of our dental health and making the experience exceptional. Due to a medical condition I have ongoing need for extensive dental care including many reoccuring procedures. Dr. Wu and his team always listen attentively, put patient's complete satisfactory first, never let even the tiniest issue (dental or financial) unaddressed. Also a shout out to Cindy, for her extraoridinary ability and dedication to patient care, and to Cece, for her skilled, focused and quiet (!) dental assist manner which I find very calming and reassuring. For a little background on my relationship with the dentist, it’s not good. I had very traumatic experiences as a kid which has stayed with me through my adulthood. I am a crier, and sometimes a hyper ventilator. Going into Blue Back I was greeted by extremely friendly front desk staff who told me Courtney would be my hygienist and she could not have been more calming, sweet and understanding. She walked me through everything that was happening and what she was going to do. She never made me feel worried, scared or embarrassed. I then got to meet Dr. Timothy who was incredible. He was very gently and kind. He explained to me what the next steps in my treatment would be and even asked me what he could do to make the experience more comfortable and overall just better for me. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have found Blue Back and I recommend it to anybody, whether they are fearful of the dentist or not. They truly are as great as everyone says.

The practice has the most state of the art equipment. The office staff is friendly and extremely helpful. I rarely write reviews but with the care I have received at Blue Back Dental, I wanted to take the time to thank them and give them the highest recommendation. When you walk through the doors you really get a sense that every single person in the practice deeply cares about both your oral health and you as an individual person. This was my first visit to Blue Back Dental and was definitely one of, if not the, best dental visit I've ever had. The ultrasonic cleaning and baking soda abrasion polishing were far more comfortable than the instruments used by my previous dentist. It was the first time in years that I walked away from a cleaning without feeling like my gums had just been tilled for planting. I also appreciated being able to see the x-rays and pictures of my teeth, making me confident in the need for more work. I definitely recommend them!

Lucy was wonderful! I usually see Courtney so I was a little apprehensive but Lucy was super accommodating and made my visit as easy as possible! I hate going to the dentist which Courtney knows but Lucy was so patient and sweet making the experience wonderful. It may not seem like much but it’s little things that make you feel like you matter and that a business genuinely cares. In an age where personalized healthcare is all but a lost art Blue Back Dental definitely still has it!

I have been to a few different dentist offices in the past 20 years and Blue Back Dental is by far the best. I have been a patient for a year now and I have received routine cleanings as well as teeth whitening and veneers. The people from the front desk to the chair are always welcoming and informative. My veneers were something I had to budget for, but Blue Back Dental set me up on a simple and manageable payment plan. Dr. Wu also let me know if I ever need any changes to the veneers, he would be glad to help. They are very confident in their practice, but also care about customer satisfaction. This is such a refreshing experience for dental work. If you live in West Hartford or within a 30 minute radius, I do not know where else you would go but Blue Back Dental for your dental needs.

My sister had tooth pain while visiting me and I'm a new resident. Took a chance on Blue Back Dental based on the reviews - and they ARE A DREAM. Not only did they fit my sister in within 24 hours, with no insurance (she's a student), but completed a very thorough exam and only charged her a nominal fee to cover a mouth guard. She was fitted same day and got a script to lessen the inflammation. She felt better within a few days and I was relieved to know my little sister was well cared for. Whenever I walk into Blue Black Dental I am always greeted with big smiles and friendly welcomes from all of the staff members. My most recent visit was for a concern I had with my bite. My appointment was with Dr. Wu and I felt he really went out of his way to provide me with all of the information I needed to know to fix my problem. Although my concerns were mostly for aesthetic reasons and not any harm to my health, he was very understanding and could see where I was coming from. He told me exactly what I wanted to know and the advantages/disadvantages involved. I am very grateful that he could be so straight forward and honest with me! I was running a few minutes late due to be held up at work, called to let them know, and they were so nice about it! My hygienist, Beth, was great! My family and I have been patients of Blue Back Dental for over 15 years. All of the dentists, hygienists, and office staff are very competent and professional. The office and patient rooms are modern with the latest dental equipment. Each room has an overhead monitor so you can watch TV while they clean or fix your teeth. They always run on schedule. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Validated parking is available in the adjacent covered town parking lot, so you don't have to walk outside when it's raining or snowing. I highly recommend Blue Back Dental to newcomers to the area or anyone looking for a new dental practice. Also, I went for my first dental cleaning since the start of the Covid pandemic, and they are fully equipped - air purifiers in the rooms, mask/shields/gloves, shower curtains on the entrance to every treatment room, etc - I felt very safe. My hygienist Courtney is great and so are all the dentists who have worked on my teeth.

A broken tooth brought me to Dr. Wu in December 2011. I had a big fear of dentists and avoided getting care because of it. I would even have to take a sedative to have my teeth cleaned. I’m only given 1250 characters here to explain why I am writing this reference so to sum it up…DR. WU AND BLUE BACK DENTAL ARE EXCELLENT! The office and staff are very nice and friendly. I’ve never had to wait more than a moment to be called in for my appointment and that makes me feel like they value my time. The whole atmosphere makes me relaxed. Then of course there is Dr. Wu. He is a great guy and is friendly and knowledgeable and VERY gentle. He uses these neat little mouthpieces that your mouth rests on while work is being done and it automatically has a suction so no more having TWO people in your mouth at once! The rooms are bright and clean with outside views and have tv’s positioned so you can watch tv while being treated. I did not tell Dr. Wu that I was afraid of the dentist yet he treated me with much care and explained everything to me so I would be part of my own treatment plan. I had a lot of work to be done so he helped me create a way I could afford it so we could address the most important things first. I highly recommend Dr Wu.

Let me tell you that Dr. Wu and his team are some of the most talented dentists I have ever encountered. I immediately became a difficult case with a problem tooth that had been causing me pain for over a year. No other dentists were able to diagnose and fix what was going on, that is until I met Dr. Wu. He was patient and diagnosed the problem within two visits. He created a treatment plan to follow steps in order to rule out certain causes and he finally settled on a course of action that literally took care of my pain! Not only is Dr. Wu professional, but he is kind and extremely understanding. He is a funny, witty Dr. who takes the time to listen to his patients concerns and I appreciate the skilled care he has provided thus far. Now to the office, this dentist office is like the Mercedes of dentists! The equipment is state of the art and the office is clean, comfortable, and tech savvy. All of the staff are polite, accommodating, and professional. I feel so lucky to have found this dentist. I swear if I were to move out of the area I would still travel to get my dental work done with them. Once you visit the office, you won't be able to go anywhere else. The icing on the cake is that if you refer a friend you get a $50 MAX Restaurant Gift card....you just can't beat it. I've already made $100 sending my significant other and his friend for work they needed anyways! Do yourself a favor and take your teeth to the spa of dentists!

On 3/20/2018, I had a crown on a lower left molar. The procedure could not have gone more smoothly. Using the latest digital technology, the porcelain crown was designed and manufactured in-house. There was no pain whatever. Everything, start to finish, was completed in 2 hours. The staff were great, even helping me learn in advance exactly what my insurance would cover. Socially distanced, surgical air purifiers, pre-entry call to maintain distancing, alternative coat hangers to avoid germ spread, temp checking on entry, plexiglass shields in office and on staff, air tools on hold to limit germ spread. I honestly cannot begin to express how amazing my visit at BlueBack Dental was. I broke a tooth at 5:15 on a Thursday evening. Not wanting to wait (severe dental anxiety) until the following day, on a whim I tried calling BlueBack Dental (I am NOT their regular patient) and explained the situation to the receptionist. She stated that the doctor was not available at that moment but asked me just to come on in and she was sure someone could see me and help my broken tooth. I was shocked by this but obviously happy so off I went! I walked in and the receptionist could not have been more accomodating, she showed me their online registration system. As I was working on it (by this time it was close to 6pm and the office closed at 5:30pm), the assistant came to get me and said that Dr. Molyneaux was waiting for me so I could finish after my procedure. I walked right into the room and there was the doctor. He couldn't have been more friendly or patient with me. He looked in my mouth and gave me two options- to either get a temporary filling in 5 minutes or just to get it fixed right then and there. He said he could do either and did not seem annoyed that it was well past when he should've been gone. I said I would rather just get the procedure at that time instead of coming back. So off the assistant went to get everything ready...still no complaining or rushing from anyone. I'll spare the details but basically I almost passed out several times due to my high anxiety about dentistry and had to hold the assistant's hand and the doctor's hand while he worked on me, they even got oxygen to get ready to give me (I'm 33 weeks pregnant) and they couldn't have been kinder or made me feel more at ease (despite how anxious I was). They finished up and once I got up, I felt completely sick again and ended up on the floor of the reception area- totally embarassing! My husband ended up having to come get me but the entire time, there were two receptionists, two dentists, and the assistants right there with me talking to me and helping calm me down! I could not believe the treatment I got, and how welcome and cared for they made me feel. I didn't end up leaving the office until after 7pm (the office closed at 5:30pm!) and still never once felt rushed or like they were annoyed at me. I will be switching to make them my permanent dentists (I'm sure they will not be happy to hear that hahaha). Thank you so much to EVERYONE at BlueBack Dental for my amazing experience!
