They are very attentive to pain and pain management. They work with me on making payments over time for expensive procedures. It’s been a month since I’ve started my treatment here for a diagnosis of bilateral jaw dislocation that was causing such severe pain I could not even socialize or be active. I now am back to doing daily yoga, which is something I had missed and wasn’t able to do for over a year. I feel the staff here is understanding, compassionate, and listens to you. The care is comprehensive - I’m being referred to PT as I mentioned my neck has been bothering me during my sleep. Steroid (trigger point) injections are an option included in the payment plan if needed at some point, and cold laser therapy is used at each appointment. Of course this is for my diagnosis and treatment plan - I’m not sure what all is included with other treatment plans.

I became a Life of Smiles patient as well. All of my dental needs ( including periodontal work) are addressed and taken care of. I am also extremely grateful for the help of the office staff in scheduling appointments and helping me navigate the ins and outs of my insurance. They are always willing to work with me and the insurance company to make my costs as small as possible for the procedures I need. Very friendly, fun and professional Dental practice. I had my routine 6 month cleaning and even though my teeth have some issues the hygienist, Wendi, took great care of me. Between her and the doctor they took the time and made sure I knew what needs to be done so my teeth do not get worse (yeah they are jacked-up😩, my fault). I didn't feel like they were just pushing me thru to get on with their day. Is the old cliche of "dreading the dentist" dead!? Is it possible to look forward to your 6 months check up?? I don't know for you, but A Life of Smiles is doing their best to challenge that cliche!

A Life of Smiles truly cured me! About 6 months ago my jaw was completely locked. I could barely open it to eat. I was extremely emotional, distressed, and unsure what procedure to trust. Today I left with full range of motion in my jaw and feeling completely back to normal. I cannot believe how seamless my recovery process was. Not to mention the whole staff is extremely friendly and warm. While TMJ is not usually covered by insurance (my treatment was not) I can almost guarantee that this facility will give you what you need to recover from your pain. Forever grateful!

I live in Grand Haven, work in Holland and still choose to go out of my way to drive into GR to have Dr.Jerry Mulder and his staff care for my oral hygiene like no other. Updated 5/14/19- My wife had a crown done today and Dr. Mulder personally called after hours to see how she is doing. This wasn’t a 30 second call, he spent around 10 minutes on the phone with me. I just recently started going to Dr. Mulder about a month ago. I have a very severe case of dental anxiety which can be embarrassing for my age and has kept me away from the dentist in the past. Dr. Mulder and his staff were more than willing to go out of their way to calm this anxiety by being personable, comforting, and using their cutting edge painless instruments. The whole experience was quick and truly painless. They went above and beyond for me and didn't make me feel inferior for having anxiety. I highly recommend going to Dr. Mulder!

It sounds cheesy (no pun intended) but Life of Smiles gave me the smile I always wanted. I shattered my two front teeth when I was 10 and always struggled with the caps chipping, cracking, and discoloring. I finally pulled the trigger and got veneers with Dr. Jerry Mulder and his team April 17'. I have never been more happy with my smile and feel like I have confidence I never had before. His staff made me feel like I was more then just a patient and was very personable which was much different then any other dentist office I had been to. Mulder (and his team) took the time to explain every step of each process and always made sure I was comfortable. I even had an appointment where I was sick with a cold so they gave me a blanket and a box of tissues and let me take whatever breaks I needed. I now take my 5 year old daughter to their office and she loves going to the dentist. (What kid says that?!). I would recommend anyone to Life of Smiles, they have all the latest technology out there and their hospitality is unlike your typical dental office.

A Life of Smiles has made a HUGE impact on my quality of life. Before I received TMJ treatment from Dr. Mulder, I struggled with tension headaches, restless sleep, and discomfort while eating. I was frustrated, stressed, and in pain as a 26 year-old dealing with TMJ issues. Finally, this past summer, I started to explore preventative measures before my displaced jaw caused permanent damage. I was referred to Dr. Mulder by another patient who received care for similar issues and highly recommended his expertise in the field of neuromuscular dentistry. Throughout the entirety of my treatment plan, I felt extremely valued as a patient. The staff (including the doctors) spent intentional and quality time with me during every appointment; they created and followed through with an individualized treatment plan; and they were transparent and fair with payment. My life has drastically improved since receiving treatment from Dr. Mulder. I can sleep and eat now, and do so without pain. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s honestly the little things that make such an impact on quality of life, and I am grateful for recovering mine.

I have many dental anxieties. I looked for a dentist near me who would hopefully be able to see me regardless of my fears. I found Dr Jerry Mulder and thought that I would try. The entire office treats me with so much kindness. Through my consultation, cleaning, deep cleaning, and fillings, I was put at ease. Every step of the way, Dr Jerry asked if I was in pain, scared, or uncomfortable. He also mentioned anything positive that I was doing - instead of feeling guilty for not flossing, I felt proud of what I presently do right and even encouraged to go beyond. Dr Jerry said that there is no need for a dental shot to ever hurt, right before he gave me a shot. When the shot, indeed, had no bite for me, I calmed down. In my past, I have felt a roughness in how dentists treat my mouth or my pain; with Dr Jerry, his care and concern for me come first and are directly related to the health of my mouth. I don't dread going back to Dr Jerry or anyone on his staff. I feel that they are working very hard to keep any pain or (gasp!) future root canal far away from me.

I’ve had issues with my left TMJ for over a decade- causing bite issues, muscle imbalances and pain in my head and neck. I couldn’t open my mouth more than an inch or two. One week into my treatment with the day/night splint and I’m amazed to see the changes already- I wasn’t expecting any at this point. I came to Dr. Mulder because of my jaw bothering me for months! I went to several doctors, they couldn't figure out why my jaw was causing me the problems I was complaining about. I finally called Dr. Mulder because he had the experience and knowledge I needed. Finally, I had an answer, it was TMJ. He did several tests and had a neuromuscular orthotic made for me. My jaw pain and irritation is gone. I feel great now! I'm so thankful he could and did solve my issues!

This practice is prompt, they seem to do good work, and seem to be concerned with the all the needs of the patient. I recently broke a tooth. I called and was seen within two days.When I was prepped for a crown replacement with a temporary crown, The Dr. called me at home later that night, just to make sure I was OK. While that may sound like a standard, it has not been that way with my former dentists.

Dr. Mulder is absolutely fantastic and well versed in TMJ issues. For 5 years I have dealt with pain, sometimes severe, in my jaw and have seen numerous doctors and dentists - even one claiming to be a TMJ specialist - but have had no relief and have increasingly become worse. I mean, from cracking every time my jaw moves to ringing in the ears, to swelling, to headaches - I mean it was just getting worse and not better. Then I was recommended/referred to see Dr. Mulder and I was beyond amazed. I finally feel like I am in the right hands. Not only did he spend a significant amount of time with me, but I also had several full panoramic xrays of my jaw done, a muscle sensory test, and a soundwave generated of my jaw - low and behold I have a dislocated jaw. The cracking I have is bone on bone and the meniscus is outside of the socket. So they proposed a treatment plan that seems reasonable given the situation and I was informed of all costs ahead of time. It's something of a giant relief to know that I am in the right hands. Plus, they have awesome support and office staff, including the gentleman that works the billing and insurance as they are all going above and beyond. Now I know I am not crazy in regards to my jaw, there really is something wrong with it. I don't think I can say thank you enough to them.

I discovered I had TMJ in 1987. I was grinding my teeth at night while sleeping. I also was experiencing jaw pain, migraines, clicking and locking of my jaw as a result of my TMJ. I had surgery in 1988 to alleviate the pain. In 2000 I was able to receive a jaw reconstructive surgery. The surgery was a huge success until 2014 when I started having pain, migraines and could not chew my food. I went to see Dr. Mulder who began treating me with therapy and a neuromuscular orthotic designed to realign my jaw. I immediately felt relief and after the 2nd treatment i could enjoy chewing food again! His treatment is working and I feel so much better. Thank you Jerry and your entire team for returning the pleasure of eating food back into my life and relieving me of all the jaw pain i was feeling.

I suffered from intense headaches that would not go away with any pain relief meds (i.e. Ibuprophen, aspirin, acetaminephen). My daughter who is a dental hygienist, knew of Dr. Jerry's work with TMJ. I was skeptical, thinking it was allergies or whatever. I ended up going in and the office was so helpful and friendly. It only took a couple months for the headaches to subside after wearing the mouthpiece Dr. designed for me and I haven't had a problem with debilitating headaches since. I had some serious TMJ problems which, because of unusual spinal problems, promised to get more serious--something, I assure you, I did not want. Both my splint (worn at night) and my orthotic partial work perfectly to keep my jaw aligned regardless of my spinal condiion.. This is great because I still have more spinal issues to get through (and am working hard on them). So the dental science is really good. Later correction: After posting this I found out my "orthotic partial" was not an orthotic at all. It did NOT hold my jaw in place, but it certainly cost like it should. And it looked horrible.
