I have had so many horrible experiences with dental offices over the years but I plan to return here every single time , from making the appointment to meeting Dr. Johnson the entire experience was warm, and professional, and kind ! Dr johnson was simply amazing in all aspects of the word , and the ladies at the front desk were so sweet and accurate. This was my first dental appointment since moving to South Carolina last year and trying to find a new dentist. I was extremely impressed with the knowledge of the dental assistant, Britney, and how thorough she was with her work. At the conclusion of the cleaning, Dr. Johnson came in and had a 30 minute sit down with me going over x-rays and recommendations for future care. I can’t believe the amount of time he spent explaining things and how thorough my first visit was. If I could give more than five stars I would. This is an amazing office

Dr. Johnson and his staff are great! I have never had a cavity up until now, so I was quite nervous about the whole process. Both the hygienist and Dr. Johnson explained the entire process to me. The shot seems to be the one thing that everyone is afraid of.... well, Dr. Johnson hit the nerve in the back of my mouth and I only felt a slight tingle and then nothing else. I was quite surprised and relieved that the entire process went as smoothly as it did. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson!

I started to go to the Johnson DMD, i been having the most amazing experience. I believe i can say they are the BEST in the states. I traveled and pcs with my spouse with the army and I promise you, you will be satisfied. They are very professional and welcoming, starting from the great personnel at the reception, to the hygienist, till the very main dental surgeon. I had ALL the type of experience at this place; - dental cleaning twice, - wisdom teeth all 4 removed in the same day, WITH NO PAIN AT ALL the doc ( I don't remember her name) she was amazing. - 1 Crown all the work was done at the same appointment, Joel did the crown surgery and I didn't feel anything, Thank you. - and a whitening boost treatment that worked perfectly. I am very happy with this place. And they gave me very good advice in what to do to get a great and confident smile. I recommend this dentist, You won't be disappointed.

Dr. Johnson was recommended to me by a fellow co-worker. I hadn't been to a dentist after retiring from the military in 2 yrs. And I'm so thankful that I listened. First impressions are lasting impressions and let me tell you, that on my initial visit, I was highly impressed with the extreme courteousness and professionalism of the staff that I encountered. From the check-in, to the exam, to check-out. Melissa and Rachel, are two of the Dental Assistants that took great care of me on separate occasions. Both are very knowledgeable in their field which made me feel at ease. Dr. Johnson was personable and made me feel at ease as well on my first visit. He gave me an Artic Mug as if to say, what I took as, "Welcome, I'm glad you're here and we're going to take great care of you." And that they did. My first procedure with Dr. Johnson was so painless, I never even felt the initial prick of the needle nor did I feel the numbing medication as it was going in. The entire procedure was an absolute breeze...I could've fallen asleep if I didn't have to keep my mouth open. He did an awesome job and I would recommend him to anyone.

This was my first dental checkup since moving to Columbia and it was a great experience. The hygienist was very thorough, explained what she was doing, and pointed out things about my teeth from the x-rays and photos she took. Dr. Johnson was just as informative. Went in for a cleaning in late May after not going for nearly two years, and not to my surprise, it was not a good report. However, the staff's care and concern for the patient showed through. I was advised to begin use of the Phillips Sonic Care toothbrush on a daily basis among other things. After my recent appointment and check in, I am happy to report that I probably have not been in this good of dental health in a long time. The care and compassion of the hygienist, Melissa, and the rest of Dr. Johnson's staff is certainly appreciated. I would highly recommend!

I had an appointment with Simply Smile, to get a crown on a root canal 01/08/20 on Garners Ferry and realized they constantly would give me different pricing on my root canal/crown which was quite odd. So i took it upon myself and search through my insurance and see whom I was in network with. And I came upon this amazing office! I literally called and explain my story to I believe “Shirley”? At around 10:23AM and lucky someone canceled their appointment, and was squeezed in at 11AM SAME DAY! The staff was soo friendly, atmosphere was amazing and clean/neat! The nurse I had was Brittany and she was INCREDIBLE, VERY INFORMATIVE & sweet and friendly! I then met Rachel and she was very sweet & helpful as well! I had the pleasure to speak with Mr. Joel Johnson & he was sooooo informative, professional, kind & sweet! He helped me and had a conversation with me as if he known me all my life! Most doctors & dentists are more so for the money, but he is completely opposite. He truly cares for you and insist you to what you truly need at a reasonable price! But he and his staff was so kind and sweet & definitely an amazing help. You have definitely gained a new patient. Thank you for the amazing experience!

I recently needed a crown to replace an old molar that had lost a large filling. With Dr. J's newest laser and other technology, I was able to get measured for the crown, have it custom-made and fitted, and have the crown seated perfectly - all within a 2-hour appointment!

I hate going to the dentist. I hadn't been to one in years. My wife finally made me go and she scheduled an appointment for me with Joel Johnson. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Mandy. She was very helpful. I expected to fill out tons of paperwork since I was a new patient, but they only asked for a couple simple pages. I was promptly called back for my cleaning with Candy. She kept me informed of what she was doing and how I can better take care of my teeth. It had been several years since my last dentist appointment so I am sure my teeth were disgusting, but Candy took it in stride and shined them up for me. I went in with corn teeth and came out with my pearly whites back! Never thought I would say this...I found a dentist I like.

Best dentist in the area!! I had a crown on my upper left side of my mouth and two fillings on my lower left side today. I felt no pain. I was anticipating pain as anyone who has had dental work done on the top teeth know that getting the anesthetic injected in the roof of your mouth hurts. Well not with Dr. Johnson. He uses a technique that allows you to become numb but with no pain. It is 2 hours since my procedure and I feel great. The staff is pleasant, attentive and professional. The office is clean and he has modern technology which is helpful. My crown was made in the office and put in all in one visit!! Very helpful for working individuals. I had my first crown, ever, done by Dr. Johnson and his staff. I was apprehensive to have the work done for a while, nervous that it may cause me discomfort. I decided to let Dr. Johnson complete the treatment. I was at ease with Dr. Johnson and his assistant Jamie immediately after the appointment began. I am extremely nervous around needles as many patients are and I had no idea he'd even given me the anesthetic. The entire procedure from start to finish was painless. Dr. Johnson has new state of the art CAD/CAM technology which allowed me to walk out of the office with my permanent, custom, crown. Had a severe tooth ache and went to Dr. Johnson to see what was the cause. Turned out I needed a root canal. When it was time to finalize treatment and a have a crown placed, which can take weeks, it only took one visit to Dr. Johnson. Thanks to the same day crown service they offer. Best dentist you will find in Columbia!! After putting off going to the dentist way to long, I finally gathered the courage to schedule an appointment. Everything was explained thoroughly on what to expect for my first visit and I received an email where I fill out all my paperwork online. When I got there I was greeted with a smile and was told since I already filled out my paperwork electronically I just the sign the documents and was immediately taken back to a dental chair, quite impressive! I started going to Dr. Johnson about a year now. I was not completely happy with my dentist which I had been going to since 2000. I was introduced to the modern and updated equipment used to find things that is going on in my mouth that the naked eye could not see. BEST care anywhere! Used to dread going to the dentist, but Dr. J. can even give the numbing shot with ZERO pain - truly not even a pinch of pain during the entire visit to place a crown. By the way - they can make the crown while you wait. Takes extra waiting time (for reading or TV), but you leave with the final crown. No temporary, no return appointment! But, Dr. Johnson wanted to look first before we went through that he was also going to fix regardless b/c it had been chipped. I went that day so nervous, but the dental assistant made me feel so comfortable. I also never felt the needle to numb my mouth neither did I ever feel uncomfortable during the procedure. My son hit his front tooth and a large corner chipped off. Dr. Johnson replaced the broken section with porcelain in about an hour, and honestly, I could not tell the difference between the real tooth and the porcelain. It was a work of art. Dr. Johnson told me afterwards that he loved doing that kind of work and showed me some pictures of another patient who, like my son, had porcelain that completely blended in with his real teeth. I was truly impressed.

Just had some bridge work done this past Wednesday. It turned out to be an excellent experience. Dr. Johnson and his staff did an outstanding job, and I'm very pleased with the results. The treatment I received was professional, high quality, efficient and friendly. It was kind of like when the old, worn out Cooper River Bridge in Charleston was replaced with the new and improved Ravenel Bridge. We all loved the original Cooper River Bridge, but it was worn out and unable to handle the increased load of cars and trucks. The new Ravenel Bridge made things much better... a vast improvement. So it is with the dental work I received... a vast improvement. Thank you, Dr. Johnson and Staff. Merry Christmas!

Dr. Johnson has been my personal dentist for almost 20 years. Three weeks ago I had some major dental work done, i.e. front tooth extraction, three tooth temporary bridge inserted, etc. etc. Because the "temporary bridge" was so well done I'd really forgotten it was there. Anyway, I ate something I probably shouldn't have and the bridge broke. It was 8:30 pm and I was scheduled to give an important business presentation the following morning at 8:30 am. I called the office and was given Dr. Johnson's personal number for emergencies on the recording. I called him and left a message. Dr. Johnson called me right back and said not a problem, come to the office tomorrow morning at 6:30 am, knock on the back door, and a staff member will let you in. He said he would text one of his staff members to let them know I was coming. At 6:30 am I was greeted at the back door and taken in right away. Jamie cheerfully made a new temporary bridge for me from scratch and I was on my way shortly after 7:00 am. Not only was I able to make my presentation, I was early with time to spare. I have always recommended Dr. Johnson to others. This morning I needed a dentist and staff with exceptional customer service to get me out of a potentially awkward business situation.
