My dentists and hygienists would remember details about my life and ask thoughtful questions while providing the most gentle and effective care. I have been coming here for my dental work for years! This is a family business, they pride themselves in quality, services affordability and empathy. I had the best experience with Dr Canesi senior and then his son Dr Canesi junior. They are attentive, do a thorough job and ensure the path forward is the best for you for your case. My cleanings and 3 times a year visits are with Evelyn and she is phenomenal!!! Attention to detail, soft hand, my teeth are transformed every single time! During COVID they were up and running and findings ways to take care of their patients in a safe manner. I am so proud to have access to them and only wish my family members lived state side to do so as well! Much success and love to this family. <3

I have been coming to Downtown Dental for 15 plus years and I have felt like a member of their family from the moment I walked in. It starts when you walk in the door and are greeted by Monica’s smile and Kims amazing spirit! I never worry about any dental work I need done because no matter who works on me, they make me feel comfortable and they explain things to me on my level. Most recently I had the privilege of being taken care of by Dr. Sam Shamardi, he was amazing, kind and so good at what he does. This practice is wonderful. I've never seen a hygienist who wasn't friendly, component and concerned with my comfort. The Dentists are conscientious and considerate and best of all collaborative. If my schedule doesn't mesh with my primary (Dr. Kitsos -DMD extraordinaire) one of the other partners step in and handle with ease. When specialty services were needed (endodontic surgeon) they were quick with an exceptional reference. Overall, a great place to get your dental care.

When I tell you that I am terrified of going to the dentist, it is no exaggeration! I have to take an anxiety pill before my appointment. Dr. John Canesi and his staff are amazing! I had X-rays and a cleaning with Emma who was wonderful. She knows that I have a gagging reflex and have a hard time with X-rays. She is so gentle and patient with me and with her expertise, she is able to get them all!! She also give a remarkable cleaning! Dr. Canesi and his assistant Kim have a lot of respect for my dental fears and show great concern as to how I am doing throughout my procedures. I am so relaxed and comfortable with them that I am able to have the procedures completed successfully. I have been going to this dental practice for nearly 40 years! Without hesitation, I would recommend Dr. Canesi, Kim, Emma and the rest of the staff at Boston Downtown Dental.

This translates into a very positive experience when having any type of work done, as it is always done with the latest technology. My job location moved from Boston to Merrimack NH 10 years ago, yet I still come to Dr. Canesi for the reasons above, I would never consider any other dentist. I have had many fillings and cleanings here. The service is always very good. The staff are on top of insurance checks/issues. They are great at confirming/rescheduling. Dr. Canesi and his techs are very gentle and patient. The fillings are done well - no issues over the past 10 years. Update: I’ve now been coming here for about 15 years, and I still think this is the best dental practice I have ever been to. Every provider is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and talented. I was in an emergency situation and needed immediate care. Had a painful infection in an important tooth holding my bridge in place. I have rheumatoid arthritis and was facing an infusion of a powerful biological medication the next day which lowers the immune system. I had never seen Dr Canesi before though my husband happily had been his patient for years. The doctor took me in, eased the pain and gave me a referral for needed Endodontist to complete the job and hopefully save my tooth. Very nice and knowledgeable dentist- Dr. Ryan Canesi answered all my questions before and after my cleaning and fillings. And during the filling process, he was happy to pause whenever I needed it- although he was working quickly and there wasn't nearly as much 'during' as I had feared! The dental hygienist was similarly helpful, understanding, and willing to answer questions as well. This is a fantastic dental practice, and I'm glad I found them.

Dr. Canesi and his team are incredible. They are very welcoming and make the visit personal making you feel like you are comfortable and take the fear out being at the dentist. I have a hard time getting numb due to a previous jaw surgery, which makes the dentist a terrifying experience, but Dr. Canesi is very considerate of that and ensures that I am very comfortable and talks me through all of my fears. I have probably the worst fear of the dentist of anyone I’ve ever known. I sobbed and was hyperventilating on the phone booking my appointment and Monica was so kind and understanding. When I got to the office as soon as I sat in the chair I started sobbing again and felt like I was going to pass out. Kim was so sweet to me and so understanding and went so slow and explained everything she was going to do before she did it. She is truly an angel. Dr. Ryan Canesi gives me faith that some day I won’t have a small mental breakdown at every dentist appointment. He is so smart and so nice and so sincere he made me feel as comfortable as possible in what is the most uncomfortable situation I could ever possibly be in. Lastly I have had receding gums for years due to Sjogrens disease that Dr. Canesi has been closely monitoring. He eventually referred me to the most amazing periodontist Dr.Dello Russo. They remember my name and are always happy to see me. Dr. Canesi is no different. Always there with a smile on his face and recollection of our previous conversations. As a dentist he is without equal. I've been in for a teeth cleaning, a crown and two cavities. My poor dental hygiene aside, Dr. Canesi is always able to get me back on right track. ( I promise I'll floss one of these days ) I cannot recommend Dr. Canesi enough! While he is located right in downtown Boston, if the Doctor ever decides to move his Dental Practice outside of the city I'll be sure to follow. New to Boston, I started going to DCDK after the president of the company I worked at strongly recommend them to me. Figuring that the president of a global marketing agency didn’t get to where he was by making poor dental decisions, I made my first appointment. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Canesi & Dr. Kitsos for the better part of 12 years now and although I am not the president of a company yet, I do have hell of a healthy smile! And that’s no small feat! I’m writing this review from quite a bit of experience. Dr. Canesi & Dr. Kitsos have performed everything from a filling and root canal to helping to replace broken teeth after I broke my jaw. Skills and acumen aside, DCDK is a super friendly office. Every time I’ve walked in for an appointment I’ve been greeted at the front desk by first name and with a smile. All the hygienist take time to say hello and ask how you are. It’s like Cheers but you leave with a toothbrush! I truly could keep going on about how great my experience has been with Dr. Canesi & Dr. Kitsos but I think you are better off going and seeing for yourself.

There's a simple reason for all these 5-star reviews: This practice will make you *love* getting your teeth cleaned (and/or fixed)! Dr. Kitsos has been my dentist for decades, and I have never had a more caring, thorough, or gentle dentist care for my teeth. You will feel welcome from the moment you check in, all the way through your cleaning (all of the hygienists are wonderfully personable!), all the way to the moment you (hopefully) get a clean bill of toothy health from Drs. Kitsos or Canesi. This practice has just one drawback: You'll find yourself wanting to chat away no matter how many dental instruments are in your mouth!!

After many years of snoring, a failed attempt of using a CPAP machine, and multiple mail order mouth pieces, I am finally getting a good night's sleep and not waking up my wife. This is all thanks to Dr Anna Kitsos, D.M.D. and the custom mouth piece she made for me. The process was simple. Teeth impressions were taken on the first visit. On my second visit, a mouth piece, that was custom molded to the impression taken of my teeth, was test fitted. I started sleeping with the mouth piece. On my third visit, a minor adjustment was made to the mouth piece to eliminate pain on a few teeth. The entire process could not have been easier. The entire staff at the office are friendly and professional. Best of all I am not waking up my wife. I had been hesitance to try another mouth piece until a friend told me how much it helped him and how easy it was to get used to using it. He also could not tolerate a CPAP machine. I decided that I would try one more time and went to Dr Anna Kitsos's office, the same place my friend had gone. I am so glad I did. I highly recommend this office, and specifically Dr Anna Kitsos.
