Hello all! What can I say? Magic City Dentistry is a magical place. I absolutely loved my experience there for my new patient visit. My hygienist Donna Leigh was top notch and talked to me the entire time! I love good conversation as well as her explaining in detail everything that was going on. She truly has a gift like no other, it’s all over her. You don’t meet genuine people everyday, but you guys rock! I can’t wait to come back!

I honestly don't know how Magic City Dentistry could get anything less than 5-stars, because they think of everything. Dr Carson really does seem to care about his patients. He and the rest of the staff always give me opportunity to address any concerns I might have. He took out my wisdom teeth, helped me with a dry socket after that, and I see them for routine work. I've never had a single bad experience. I would not ever want to see any other dentist, and I recommend Magic City Dentistry to all of my friends.

I never thought I’d look forward to dentist appointments, but ever since I started coming to Magic City Dentistry that all has changed. The staff is so nice, the building is gorgeous, and they let you watch Netflix while you are getting work done! While I’ve always had a good experience at this office, today has been the best yet because of the awesome and hilarious hygienist, Donna! My teeth are in the best condition of my life and Donna made my visit seem more like a visit with an old friend than one to your dentist. I cannot recommend this practice or Donna highly enough!

I was very impressed with the practice. I cracked a tooth over the weekend and was seen Monday morning at 8am as a New Pt. This is rare to be seen so quickly. The check in process was smooth. The entire staff from the front desk to the back were nice and professional. I saw Dr. David, and I was very pleased with his work. I am happy to say I have found me a new dentist!

This is an awesome dental team. Dr. Sollenberger was highly recommended to me and I started going there a few years ago. I finally felt like I could relax a bit at the dentist and that my teeth were really being looked after. When Dr. Sollenberger left, I was a little anxious about what the care would be like. I decided to keep going because it's not just the dentists there, it's the technicians and assistants and everyone - they're all wonderful. I had to get a root canal yesterday and had my first dental appointment with Dr. Helf. In not very much time at all I realized Dr. Helf was just as amazing as Dr. Sollenberger had been. When everyone convened in the front area to try to find just the right color match for my crown, amid much fun and laughter, I knew my favorite dental group was still perfect, just as always. If you've always considered going to the dentist as scary, try Magic City Dentistry. Really, they will make you reconsider your opinion of dentists.

If you’re looking for a dentist look no further! I was a first time visitor at Magic City and the staff if so friendly and welcoming- they made me feel as if I’ve been a patient for years! Donna was amazing. I hadn’t been to the dentist in years and she was super patient, answered all of my questions and did a damn good job examining/cleaning my teeth! She took the time to not only explain everything she was doing, but the reasoning why (showed me X-rays etc.) behind it. I seriously have not met someone this thorough during a trip to the dentist. I’ve always hated going to the dentist, but in this case I am already looking forward to my next visit!

From the moment I called for an emergency appointment for a broken wisdom tooth, to the moment I left the office was amazing! As someone who has really bad anxiety and previous horrific experiences with other dentists, Magic City Density made sure I was comfortable! I have been to Magic City Dentistry 3 times now, all of which have been very positive experiences. My first was just for a consultation - I am new to Birmingham and needed a tooth extracted. I was talked through all of my options thoroughly to ensure I chose what was best for me. My second was to get my tooth extracted... and Dr. Sollenberger did a fantastic job! I felt no pain and was in no discomfort at all. My most recent appointment was for a checkup on my extraction, and for a routine dental cleaning (which I regretfully admit I haven't done in a couple years.) Donna was my hygienist, and she was the most personable hygienist I have ever had. She was very kind and had a wonderful sense of humor as well. I'm not typically the type of person to be 'scared' of the dentist... but if you are, I would not hesitate to come to Magic City Dentistry! Other pros: they pay for your parking, they play great music, and there's Netflix available to watch while you're getting work done.

I don't know the last time I had as thorough of a cleaning as I did at MCD. Donna was great, the fact that they had Netflix loaded up for me to watch the whole time was really cool. Instead of scraping your teeth the whole time, they had a tool that shoots water and is much gentler. Dr. Helf is probably the best dentist in Birmingham/Alabama/America. 5 Stars all day every day

As best as you can at the dentist: I enjoyed my experience. Everyone was nice and professional. Did a good job of showing and explaining to me what was going on with my teeth, which I appreciated. Did a good job decorating the place and making it feel more comfortable. Only knock was the parking was a little bit confusing but works well enough, especially after you know what you are doing.

I have been to Magic City Dentistry twice and have been very impressed both times. As other reviews have accurately stated, the place is clean, organized, and the vibe is cool and urban. I have a receding gum line that can cause electrifying pain during a typical cleaning. I always explain this to the dental hygienist, but previous ones have not listened and I am constantly concerned I will be in pain. Thank goodness Donna was the one doing my cleaning! She was kind, gentle, and listened to my concerns. These have been one of the first pain-free dental cleanings I have experienced and that can certainly be attributed to Donna. She let me watch Netflix during the cleaning and chatted with me when I asked her questions. Additionally, she described a few things specific to my teeth, gums, and enamel in clear and easy-to-understand way and provided explanations as to steps I can take to ensure I am brushing flossing correctly for my condition. Nobody has ever explained those things to me so effectively. Dr. Sollenberger was also great! He furthered my positive experience by constantly checking in with me to make sure I was doing ok and comfortable. I would highly recommend this practice.

In July 2021, it was my first visit with Magic City Dentistry. God directed me their after I prayed on which one to go to after my current dentist had temporarily closed down. I was so very nervous going to a new place.. and had lots of anxiety. I prayed to God to help me through this as I truly do not like the dentist.. After meeting Ms. Donna the dential hygenist.. I began to feel a little more at ease though still somewhat nervous..She was very through in explaining everything that she was going to do ..including with the insurance company. As began to clean my mouth..and I had no idea what a big job it would be. God knew it was big job..and i had no idea that he had chosen Ms. Donna before i got there and he paired me up with her. As she began to clean my mouth and tell me what she saw..in her words, years of plaque that could very easily cause and infection inside my body. She took her time and was a gentle as she could be..as she worked..I prayed in my heart for God to help her..and alleve my fears and anxieties about what I felt..the discomfort.and small amounts of pain..As Ms. Donna showed me the plaque..i realized how much God loves me..and wanted to save me from the toxicity in my mouth. It made me cry..realizing how much my heavenly father loves me and was looking out for me. As Ms. Donna finished her work on cleaning my teeth, she said let me get the dentist in here to talk to you about the treatment plan for the other work you need. My reply was, you are not the dentist? She said..no, I am the dental hygenist. I was blessed..because the care the she took with me..was like of a dentist who truly cares about their patients. I actually went there for removal of mercury fillings..which could not be done until my mouth was properly cleaned and my gums more healthy. I praise God and am grateful for his wisdom and guidance that I could no longer wait until my current dental place received a new dentist..I had to go immediately. I look forward to going back in and getting my mercury fillings removed and receiving the wonderful care.

By far the best dentist I've been too! I've been going here for about a year and I absolutely love it. Dr. Pruitt and his team: Donna, Canyon, the super sweet ladies at the desk and everyone else made me feel at home. From the time you enter the door until the time you leave it's a positive experience. They pay for your parking so you don't have to worry about finding parking far away. The waiting room is gorgeous and you get to watch Netflix while you're getting dental work done. Dr. Pruitt took on a serious case working on my teeth and I couldn't be happier with my results. My teeth are much healthier and look better. He set up a dental plan that worked well for both of us and made sure I understood what was going on. Everyone here makes sure you are comfortable and that you're taken care of. There aren't many adulting tasks I look forward to, but going to the dentist at Magic City Dentistry is always a good time! Dr. Pruitt also brings in Presley, his super cute puppy who will sit on your lap while you're getting dental work done. If you're looking for a dental spot in Birmingham, look no further!! I have seen Instagram posts about Magic City Dentistry and messaged about an appointment. As a person who has never had dental insurance as an adult, I was very interested in the $99 deal for exam, x-ray and cleaning. I called and got an appointment pretty quickly, considering the dentist I usually go to couldn’t see me until August. Magic City Dentistry emailed me forms to fill out before my appointment, which I totally appreciated! When I arrived, I was screened at the door, for temperature and Covid-19 questions, and the girl who checked me in asked where I parked, I told her right there on the street, which has a meter. She went and put change in the meter for me!! (Very nice detail!!!) Magic City Dentistry is brand new and beautifully decorated!! The sign and specials are posted right in the front, and when you walk in, there’s an adorable statue of Vulcan (wearing a mask, which is a cute touch!) The front lobby was very nice, with a big screen TV showing ocean scenes, very relaxing, while music (including Jamiroquai and Fitz and the Tantrums) jamming in the background. The decor is full of Birmingham Custom Maps and pictures of Secret Stages and Rock Concerts. In each little area for exams, there’s a big screen TV where the dental assistant let me choose something on Netflix, another great relaxing technique, which gave a very personal experience. The dental assistant/hygienist was very thorough, detailed and knowledgeable. The technology was great, as she was able to put my x-rays and pictures of my teeth on the TV in front of me, so I could see! Everyone was covered in personal protection items (covid-prevention Care was in full effect) and I felt super comfortable and they even gave me a goody bag with toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss and when I signed my paperwork, I got to keep the pen. I know these are little things, but they made a lasting impression. I loved my visit to Magic City dentistry, although actually, I normally dread the dentist and kind of have anxiety about it, this team made me feel relaxed. Located conveniently downtown on 1st Ave N, and they open at 7am!! Do your teeth a favor and cal them today!

Great environment! They even feed the meter for you when you park. I wasn’t aware of this before so I ended up putting 4 quarters in it. Staff is extremely friendly. They went above and beyond to accommodate me post-surgery including routine check-ups within an immediate time-frame and an on-call dentist was available to talk after hours. I truly enjoyed my first visit. The entire office staff was genuinely kind, friendly, and warm. And the office itself is gorgeously laid out, clean, and modern. I've never been given the option to put whatever I wanted to on Netflix while receiving a cleaning before. Donna went above and beyond to show me on the screen and with a model where problem areas were in my mouth. Dr. Sollenberger was delightful and took his time to answer questions patiently. And of course I was there in the first place because of Kristye, who took excellent care of me as well. Such a lovely way to spend a dental appointment!

I do not usually write online reviews but I had to come on here and give a special shoutout to the team, specifically Christy and Mika, at Magic City Dentistry for some outstanding and thoughtful service. I went in for two cleanings last month, one specialized and one standard, and I was very pleased with the service and feel of the practice. I only saw Dr. David briefly but he was very nice. Mary Jane who was my dental hygienist was friendly, efficient, and was easy to make conversation with. About a month later I received a call from Mika informing me that my insurance had not paid as much on my claim as they initially thought. Because of this I owed them additional money. She was not calling me to collect payment, simply giving me a heads up that I would be receiving a bill in the mail. I was very bothered by this (owing money, not the phone call from Mika) and asked for the practice manager, Christy, to call me. Once Christy called, she went into full detail about the issues they had with my insurance company and the exact reasons why I was owing them more money than they initially expected. She listened to me closely and was very understanding of my complaint. I really appreciated the detail she provided because I learned a lot about my insurance coverage (and how terrible it is) but she also told me that if I decided to change plans that she would be happy to speak with me about it to make sure I was making the right choice. Even though my insurance won't pay my full claim with Magic City Dentistry, I will definitely return for my 6 month cleaning because I had a particularly good experience with the entire team.

So, let me preface by saying that I HATE going to the dentist. After multiple semi-traumatic experiences, I just stopped going. It’s been about 4-5 years since my last visit but, I decided to be an adult and finally go again. I was pretty anxious. MCD changed my whole perspective on what “going to the dentist” can mean. It doesn’t have to suck! Netflix in the exam rooms. Great music. The staff were kind, fun, and knowledgeable and, most importantly, they made sure I was comfortable and taken care of the whole time.

Birmingham is lucky to have Magic City Dentistry! The atmosphere in the office feels nothing like a boring ol' dentist office. This will sound weird but they have the MOST comfortable chairs! Dr. Sollenberger is so kind & easy to talk to. He explained everything so clearly & took time to educate me about my teeth. The staff is fantastic and it's very clear as soon as you walk in that the patient's satisfaction & experience is the #1 priority. I can't say enough good things about MCD!
