Beautiful Face

I never thought I could EVER feel comfortable at a dentist office. However, each of my 3 visits at Modern have been exceptional! Beginning with Dr. Lawton. He is very skilled; he knows his craft and it leaves me feeling confident each time he works with me. The first visit I asked a ton of questions. Dr. Lawton not only answered them but also educated me on a lot of background dentistry information that I now apply for better oral care. When I got my filings replaced, the shots did not hurt at all and that has never happened before. I mean I felt nothing!!! I am always so tense when I go to the dentist but I am finally able to relax and watch a show on my phone because I know I'm in great hands. The office staff and dental assistants are professional and actually have conversations with you about day to day life topics which adds a human to human element to the experience. I hope modern dental remains open forever because I have already referred my husband and sister in law and I plan to keep coming here for life. Plus black owned too...what's more perfect than that!

Such a pleasant staff and knowledgeable dentist. Dr. Lawton is honest about what you need and what may be an issue later. I feel as though his staff cares about my oral health. It doesn't hurt that everyone has personality, especially Zoe and Addie (sp). The experience at Modern Dental is as comfortable as it can get for the dentist office. They use the best equipment and office is clean as a whistle. I highly recommend Modern Dental!!

Being going to Modern Dental for some years now. Always a pleasant experience. I had a tooth extraction sometime ago and the dentist made me feel so comfortable and assured. When the extraction was over she spoke to me briefly about options for replacing that tooth. I was very pleased with that experience.

Modern Dental is outstanding! It's a combo of professional and personable, which is not always a given these days. My introduction to them was maybe a couple of years ago. I had a bad toothache and they went out of their way to treat me. They always text a few days before the appointment as a reminder. Overall, the quality of care and interactions with staff is an A+. It's a great operation. If you're looking for a dental office, you've found it!

Great experience, every time I come I’m greeted with a friendly front desk staff member. The hygienists there are great and very knowledgeable. Dr. Eric Lawton is great! He always explains in detail and gives you a visual of what the procedure process is. He very friendly and he’s a fellow sneaker head, lol. I have been coming here for a few years now, I left my comfy and plush practice to come here and I’m glad I did. It’s great having a dentist that looks like you ✊🏾.

I have had a great experience at Modern Dental the past few times I’ve been there, ever since I moved to Atlanta about a year ago. The front desk folks are very nice and efficient, and the dentists are knowledgeable and caring. The hygienists do a great job cleaning your teeth, without much discomfort, and it helps that you can watch TV from the chair. I will keep going back!

Five stars doesn't cut it. Modern dental gives you an exceptional experience from the moment you arrive until check out. The cleanliness, the customer service, the thoroughness of information from the doctor and all of the team. Each visit for the last 2-3 years tops the previous visit (that's hard to find). I appreciate the perks of the coffee/hydration station and the mounted television (Netflix) in the ceiling to watch during your appointment/exam. Thanks Dr. Udunka and to the entire care team.

I love this practice. I’ve been going here for about 3 to 4 years and I’ve never had an issue. I never have to wait long after I check in to be seen, and all of the dental hygienists and Dr. Lawton are very pleasant. Update 8/22/22 Updating from 5 stars to 4. I normally have a great visit but today’s visit was not so pleasant. I was seen today to get brackets from an old retainer taken off of two of my bottom teeth. As usual I didn’t wait too long to be taken back into the exam room, however, I waited almost 30 minutes in the exam room to actually be seen by the doctor. The dental assistant who was setting up everything in the room did not communicate with me at about what was going on. Normally they’ll say, “The Doctor will be in shortly” but I wasn’t told anything. I didn’t realize she was an assistant and I assumed she was the one who was going to be working on me. I had no idea that I was waiting on the doctor. Finally, the doctor came in and started working on me. When she got to my second tooth it was very sensitive so I had to get anesthesia. They put the cotton swab with numbing gel on my gums, left the room and didn’t come back for almost 15 minutes. They never came back to check on me to see if I was good. To remove the brackets off of my teeth probably took about 15 minutes, but my appointment was at 10 AM and I didn’t leave until 11:30 AM. When it was time to check out, the girls at the front desk weren’t familiar with my method of payment which was Care Credit. I’ve used care credit for all of my visits here and I never had an issue. The difference with a Care credit card is that you can’t just swipe it like any other credit card, you have to go to their website and input the information for payment and they didn’t know that. So it took almost 10 minutes just for me to check out. I was very upset and I believe that there needs to be more communication going on and maybe more training with the front desk.

Amazing! Loved my tech and the dentist. Felt like I’ve known them for years and it was only my first appointment. I had such bad anxiety going into it cause I hate going to the dentist but this was hands down the best dental experience I’ve ever had. I never even leave reviews but I liked it so much I felt like I needed to share my experience in case anyone else can relate. This is the place you wanna go if you’re nervous or scared of going to the dentist. I felt like I could’ve just been there hanging out with them it was so enjoyable.

This was my first visit to Modern Dental after having the same hygienist and Dentist for the last 20 years. The office staff was professional and courteous and treated me with respect. The highlight of the visit was the superb Hygienist, whose name is Angela. Her vigor and energy was infectious and made for a very relaxing first visit to a new Dentist. The only sad part is that she isn't part of the full time staff. I am unable to recall the dentist's name. However, she also was very patient with me as I rambled on about an issue I was having and made great suggestions for the health welfare of my teeth. I'm super happy that I happened upon this office. I found my new dentist.

I really loved the use of IPADs in place of paper for all those daunting "new patient" pages of paperwork. I was happy with the hygienist who was thorough and gentle. When you think of going to your dentist you cringe but I don't. I hate the price tag but if I have to put my care in to another dental office's I would refuse. The front desk staffed and the dental staff as a whole are very welcoming and pleasant. Also, I like that I am provided distractions from the drilling with the TV with my choice of Netflix series on. The break down of treatment plan is amazing.

I normally don’t participate in writing reviews but I had to write one for Modern Dental because they were awesome. I had a great first time visit here. The whole staff was extremely nice. The receptionist was awesome. I was having some issues with my insurance. I had to make a phone call to my job & she was very patient about the whole situation. Once I got the number to my dental insurance, she called them & fixed the problem immediately. When Dr. Lawton came in to talk to me, I instantly felt comfortable. Anybody in the Atlanta area looking for a dentist office, try out Modern Dental. Thanks for making my experience great. 🙂

On Tuesday September 28th. I had an appointment for a cleaning. I was so happy with my overall service experience . The ladies at the front desk were “all” smiles. The hygienist was very engaged and made sure I was happy. She cleaned my teeth, took X-rays….she explained everything she was doing and even celebrated my Birthday. I have not been a dental patient for over 25 years. I had tons of anxiety and nervous energy upon going to see Dr. Lawton. From the moment I stepped foot in the office, kindness was all around me. I came face-to-face with a full staff of professional and dedicated people. Their interest in helping me solve my dental issues was sincere. I am also a person with multiple disabilities. I have a physical disability and a sensory disability. I am sight impaired with limited and low sight. I must admit, Modern Dental Atlanta was accessible and accommodating. My independence is very important to me. I feel secure in knowing I can visit the office without a cited helper. This is an important factor to a person in my situation. I feel quite comfortable recommending Modern Dental Atlanta to not only my friends, but also the Disability community. This review is based upon my second visit to Modern Dental Atlanta. My visit consisted of major dental work. I was extremely nervous, jittery, and jumpy. Throughout my 2 1/2 hour procedure, Dr. Lawton and his dental assistant maintained patients and professionalism. I would for the second time recommend Modern Dental Atlanta to my beloved Disability community, and all friends and family. Thank you for a positive dental experience! The good news and story continues. We are now post major dental work. As soon as I walked in the office, I was greeted by the front desk person. Very pleasant and welcoming attitude. As I sat waiting to go to the back, which was only about seven minutes, I was greeted by everyone including Dr. Lofton. Dr. Lawton came out to the waiting area and asked me how things have been going, and offered to serve me water. I’ll say this for the third time, I absolutely love this dental practice. Quick and efficient. No long wait times etc. Never try to upsell either! I have been getting consistent cleanings here for about two years without a single cavity or any issues at all and they never once tried to sell me anything- that’s the best part :) My prior dentist office (by Glenwood Kroger) always tried to market something, sell me something and tell me I could use small fillings here and there and even told me to replace my 20k of bridgework and crowns from a car wreck I had a few years ago - it was very strange when I had no issues with my mouth at all that they would constantly tell me long lists of what I need done. I am so glad I switched to Modern Dental!!!!!!!

Modern Dental is always the most fun I’ve ever had at the dentist! I’ve been going there for over a year and every time I’m there I receive great care from everybody! Dr Lawton is really knowledge and never tries to sell you on anything that you don’t need. He’s no-BS and I love that. I also recently did Zoom whitening with Ashley and it was a great experience! Update: all this time later, I still love this dentist. Dr. Lawton and staff always so friendly, knowledgeable, and was able to get me in on no notice with a cracked tooth. I went to a dental clinic once during covid but never again. I'll stick with Modern. I moved to Atlanta about 2 years ago; prior, I'd had the same dentist for 30 years. Now I'll be able to say he same about Modern, if I live that long. Always friendly, accommodating, fairly priced, professional. Love this office!

The experience was great from greating to exit. It was the most thorough cleaning I ever had. The time dedicated to the hygiene of my mouth was very appreciated. The hygienist, Taylor answered all my questions and made sure I understood the information. The dentist Amanda made me feel valued by explaining the xray, the treatment, and provided options for my concerns. The Covid protocols were uptodate. After a few years of dodging the dentist, I asked around for recommendations in my network and Modern Dental was the top suggestion. I was nervous: it is a pandemic, I had sore gums, and honestly I was also embarrassed because it had been so long since my last cleaning! Upon arrival, my fears were immediately settled. The reception area was empty but the front desk was friendly, professional, and attuned enough to my anxiety they assured me of a good experience. I filled out my paperwork in my car - yes to pandemic protocols! - and was immediately brought to the back after submitting my paperwork. The work areas were busy and extremely clean with dental instruments whirring. Dr. Lawton saw me minutes after being brought back to a work station. He was friendly and thorough in asking me questions about my anxiety, what was bothering me, my goals for a healthier mouth and teeth, and how to move forward to keep me on top of my dental health. Dr. Lawton examined my teeth with a soft touch and care around my gums, which I appreciated. After my initial exam by Dr. Lawton, my dental hygienist Demetria was knowledgable and explained every step she did along the way. She also was a gentle touch on my irritated gums. I had a particularly sore spot on my gums and was relieved when I did not need a shot to tend to it, only a numbing agent, and Demetria was quick. By the time I finished watching the nature reel running on the flat screen TV above me, I was done. I need to come back for additional work on my gums, and Dr. Lawton and his team will definitely be seeing me again for that procedure and all future dental needs. Thank you Dr. Lawton and Team Mode!

I don’t remember all the names but the guy at the front desk ( with the locks ) the dental assistant Ashley, and the one from Cleveland all made me feel at home. This place is awesome! I had a filling fall out from my old dentist and they were able to fit me in the next day. I'm very nervous at any dentist but they put me at ease with their personality and my own personal TV to watch while having my procedure. They were very fast getting to work on me instead of me sitting there forever getting more and more nervous. When they started working on me they took their time to make sure it was right and smooth, if I didn't know better I would say my tooth is 100% real instead of made by my dentist.

Yesterday was my first time at this office. I had an appointment scheduled for last week, but the weather made us move it. I was really impressed that the staff took the time to call me from home to inform me that the office was closed and they were working on rescheduling me. The tech came out and got my x-rays done. She made she I was comfortable at all time, which made me really happy. Katie was my hygienist, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. She was very knowledgeable when answering my questions and gave me great recommendations. We had great conversation and the work that was done was exceptional. Dr. Lawton came in and I was very impressed. He spoke to me in a way I could understand and he too was very knowledgeable. He made sure I was comfortable and satisfied with my service. I've never had such a relaxing and comfortable experience at any other dentistry. I plan on sticking with this office for as long as I can

The staff at modern dental is amazing!! I have had them do dental work on several occasions (filings and wisdom teeth extraction) for me and each time, they were very caring and the staff was amazing. After my wisdom teeth extraction (I had 5 taken out), the healing was very short and the overall procedure was virtually painless. Dr. Lawton and Dr. Greene are both experts in their field and I would highly recommend their dental services. You will be made to feel at home and they will make accommodations to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

Went in for a simple cleaning and the hygienist kept nodding off while working on my teeth! she seemed awake & alert prior to working on my teeth but about five minutes into the cleaning I noticed her hand stopped moving and the tools that she was using were sliding into my gums. this caused some light bleeding. I turned to look at her and saw that her eyes are closed and her head is hanging down. She had nodded off. I woke her up and she continued working as if nothing happened. We continue this dance throughout my procedure. not sure if I’d ever return but if I did, I definitely would request a different hygienist.

Modern Dental has been my go-to dentist ever since I moved to the Atlanta area. I don't think I could be more happy with my choice! I recently had a series of procedures on a tooth that was pretty far gone. I received a root canal, a crown lengthening, a crown placement. The experience was GREAT (as something like a root canal can be). For those of you nervous about going to the dentist, please DON'T WORRY. I felt not a bit of pain during any of these procedures. Dr. Lawton is a true professional and knows what he is doing. Trust him! Also, I have to give public praise to the office staff. They are some of the most kind, charming, and amazing professionals you'll ever meet. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable, almost as if you are an old friend. The office is very clean and modern just as the name suggests. Both of my appointments were with Dr. Lawton. He has excellent chair side manner and took the time to explain everything to me in detail. You can tell that he truly cares about his patients and helping to improve their smiles and oral health. He is also very gentle, which is something I now look for as I've had horrible experiences in the past with dentists who were way too rough. Being a physician myself, I am very critical about who I have as my health care provider. The staff and Dr. Lawton at Modern Dental exceeded my expectations. The front desk staff are very friendly and even called me a few times before my appointment if there were earlier cancellations. The office is easy to find with free parking. Inside the waiting room is water and coffee and very comfortable seating. Each exam/treatment room is state of the art and Dr. Lawton uses some of the newest technology in dentistry which is reassuring. I watched Jurassic Park during my cleaning and exam, which helped put me at east (I didn't say I enjoyed going to the dentist but this was a great experience!).

I actually really enjoyed my experience here which is a shock because you know, it's a dentist office. Had a new patient appointment and was amazed by how quickly they got the XRays done and how they made the discomfort as quick and minimal as possible. I have a small mouth and have experienced cut lips, bruising, gagging, and pain when doing dental XRays but here there was none of that. The dental hygienist was quick and did great work. The doctor himself was very personable and understanding. They weren't judgmental about how far some of my decay had gotten due to lack of access to dental insurance. I was in and out in less than an hour. Their friendly reception staff got me scheduled for my next cleaning and an extraction. Can't recommend these guys enough.

I switched to Modern Dental as my primary provider about a year ago and have had a great experience. Dr. Lawton is very professional, experienced, and quick! I recently had a composite filling break loose and Dr. Lawton was able to painlessly drill out the old filling and create a new one with no pain or discomfort, and I was out the door in 45 minutes (20 minutes was spent waiting for the anaesthetic to take effect). They've also recently installed TVs and Rokus above their chairs, which lets you catch up on your favorite shows (and serves as a good distraction) during procedures. Unlike other "chain" dentist practices, Modern Dental is privately owned, and puts patient health first. Highly recommended, great practice!

I never felt bad or ashamed for not brushing/flossing properly (and anything else I may not have done to take care of my teeth since my last dental visit). Dr. Eric and his staff gave me the right tools and information I needed in order for me to do better! I also loved the appointment reminders that I received via email and text. There are no excuses for patients to forget when their appointment is with Modern Dental! One of my favorite parts of my visit were the social media templates when I was checking out and scheduling my next appointment. My personal favorite was "spit happens" - it gave me a good laugh! There were lots of templates to choose from and I was more than willing to pose for the camera! I even made it to their hashtag #ModernSmilesMonday via Instagram & Facebook! This facility feels nothing like the "scary" dentist office that most are used to -- the clean, warm, welcoming space is awesome! It's truly lives up to the "modern" name with the integration of technology (tv's on the ceiling equipped with hulu, roku, youtube, etc)... it makes you feel like you're in the comfort of your own living room watching one of your favorite shows.
