Dr. Preece and his crew at Healthy Smiles Dental are amazing! My son had a very bad dental experience when he was 4, which caused him to develop a dental anxiety. He wouldn't allow anyone to work on his teeth up until today. Dr. Preece and his staff did a wonderful job at explaining every step to him, and through it all, they made sure he was comfortable. We will definitely be coming back here, and I highly recommend you should check this place out!!

Great family dental group. Our family of four has been a loyal client for over 4 years. We always get just the right care, options for treatments, and never feel rushed or forced into getting stuff done. Though it isn't explicitly named a 'Pediatric' or 'Kids' dentistry, they are very kid friendly. Both of our kiddos enjoy being in the chair with Dr. Preece, our youngest just as soon as she could walk, just to get the feel for it. They also do an excellent job of maximizing health/dental insurance coverage through experience and scheduling. And most importantly (to me) never has a hygienist, or Dr. Preece himself, butchered my gums while flossing me at Healthy Smiles Dental! And I thank you for that!

I love this place. My wife and I moved to Alaska 3 years ago leaving my family dentist behind that I had know since I was a teenager. Having moved up here we tried many different well known and referred dentists in Anchorage and all have fallen way short of our expectations and overall trust in their practices. Many of them have tried to upsell us on cavities and rootcanals we did not need. Thank God I had a chance to refer back to my old dentist before proceding through with their work. Those awful trial error all stopped when we found Heathy Smiles Dental with Dr. Preece. His office is warm and welcoming. His staff is kind and pleasent and goes above and beyond their duties to take care of their patients. They even watched and played with my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son while my wife was being seen. Dr. Preece is kind and gentle while working in your mouth. He is thorough in his work and explains what he is doing and seeing while working. You can tell he is passionate about his profession and if thats not enough. They have chairs that meassage you while you're being worked on to help people like me with bad backs. I would highly recommend coming in and checking out Healthy Smiles Dental. I am not an easy person to please by any means, but the staff and Dr. PREECE have gained my trust, respect and business for as long as I am in need of Dental work and in Anchorage.... and I love candy so I expect to see them quite often. I happened upon Healthy Smiles Dental after needing an extraction after a very painful weekend. I always get nervous about any dental work, but it had to be done. The office was nice and not over the top like some other places in town. Erica at the front desk was very nice and tried to ease my nerves. The extraction was painless, and great care was taken to ensure the healing process would be as quick and smooth as possible. Healthy Smiles is the best dental office I've been to. The desk staff, dental assistants, hygienists, and Dr Preece are friendly, helpful, and effective. Before I went to Healthy Smiles, I had another dental office here in Anchorage. During one appointment at the old dental office, I had arrived 10 minutes early; I checked in with the front desk and then used the bathroom for 30 seconds to brush my teeth, and then I sat in the waiting room. My appointment time came and went, so I approached the front desk a second time and asked if they were running late. They looked at me wide-eyed and said they thought I had left. Since only 10 minutes over my appointment time had gone by, I figured they would just let me go ahead with my appointment. They told me they had to reschedule me. Another time, they gave me a filling that fell out soon after they gave it to me. I called them and tried to schedule another filling and they said I would have to wait more than a week. I didn't feel like walking around with a gigantic crater in my tooth for a week so I ended up calling Healthy Smiles, and they were able to get me into the schedule within a couple of days. I have been so happy with the entire staff and experience that I decided to switch over to Healthy Smiles, and since then I've had several completely smooth and easy appointments with them. Highly recommended!

I went to see Dr. Preece for my semi-annual dental check up. The receptionist greeted me right away and handled the insurance with ease. The hygienist did an amazing job cleaning my teeth; gentle and thorough. Dr. Preece put me at ease right away with his kind words and easy manner. He gave me a clean bill of teeth health, gave me some options for my retainer and sent me on my way with a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss. Everyone in my family, from me and my husband to our kids (both under 10) have been to Healthy Smiles and we've all had a great experience. The kids were happy and left with smiles as their hygienist was patient and friendly. She explained everything to them as she went. They provided orthodontist references for my oldest. I had some added work done and Dr. Preece did a wonderful job. He fixed a problem area that my last dentist was struggling with. A big positive: they numbed my mouth with a gel before hand and I never even felt the shot! I would recommend Healthy Smiles for everyone in your family.

Dr. Preece is phenomenal!! And so is the staff, of course. He has rescued me a couple of times now, not to mention how fantastic my normal care has been. I could not ask for a better dentist. I have been with him for several years now and its just been great. From the office space to the level of care its as good as it gets (for a dentist) because lets face it, getting drilled on is not exactly at the top of everyone's to do list. The lobby is actually cozy and comfortable. Heck I fall asleep in there its so cozy and that's even with only waiting about 5 min. or less usually. I could go on, and on about how great they are but I will say this. They are great people from top to bottom. They do community outreach, they actually care about you as a person, and they are a super to work with. Do not hesitate if you need a good dentist!!

From the moment I walked in the door, Dr. Preece and his staff made me feel very comfortable. Not something I was expecting when I walked into a new dentist office. I had recently had back surgery and they were more than accommodating to make sure I was comfortable in that chair. Offering me a pillow, blankets and even turned on a massage feature in the chair. Through the exam and cleaning I was continually asked if I was doing OK, if I needed to move or if there was anything else they could do to make me more comfortable. Dr. Preece even made time to fix a cavity in the same visit. I'm also very hard to numb up. They took the extra time to make sure that my tooth was completely numb. I have found that most dentists don't take the time and just start drilling but not DR Preece. He was very concerned that I didn't feel any pain. I would recommend him to anyone and I have already started recommending him to my friends. I am very blessed that I found this dental practice. Thank you very much to DR Preece and his staff for taking very good care of me .

Dr.Preece was Very gentle and attentive to my needs. All of the staff were nice and did everything I had asked. I went in to get nine cavities filled and get all four wisdom teeth removed three days in a row and was only sore after the wisdom teeth. It was the most dental work I have had done but was hands-down the best dental experience I have ever had. They were very polite, easily adapted to what I liked and were very encouraging. They use a numbing gel like orajel so you don't feel the needle with novocaine and he puts in enough so you don't feel any of the drilling and only a tiny bit of the pulling. The dental chair is also a massage chair with three settings and two heating options. They made sure I knew what was happening without me even asking and eagerly answered any questions I did have. My dad went there for extensive work and was also pleased and I convinced one of my closest friends to get his wisdom teeth removed there and have seen a surgeon coming out of his office as well. I would recommend Dr.Preece and his associates to anybody needing any dental work done satisfaction guaranteed.

Upon arriving Dr. Preece was in the reception area decorating the Christmas tree, he knew my name and was expecting me. Very friendly dental office! Dr. Preece was concerned with my comfort, providing a warming /massage chair, blanket, headphones with radio, even free chapstick! His exam was very thorough. He seemed concerned about me as a person, not just a random patient. I appreciated his honesty, he only did the dental work that truly needed to be done. The next day I walked in because I had some concerns over some swelling, and he took the time to see me and talk about my concerns. I have to say, I'm kind of in love with this place. I did some research online and decided to give Healthy Smiles a try. I scheduled my appointment online and was able to make one for 6pm (super convenient! +2). They called to remind me of my appointment (+1). The office is decorated in really calming tones with simple, aesthetically pleasing decor (+1), and they were playing chill oldies (+1). The girl at the front desk was super nice (+2). Dr. Preece came out to shake my hand and greet me (+5)- I give this +5 because this has never happened to me before. Every dental office I've ever been to has come off as sort of snobby, methodical, let's just get this done, and the dentists spent about 10 minutes with me toward the end of the appointment. Dr. Preece was with me from start to finish, making casual conversation, explaining his assessment of my oral condition, and educating me about all of the different methods of care that I might pursue-he didn't push for any expensive treatment options. His assistant was wonderful, too- very helpful and down to earth(+2). I felt like a person among other people, not just a patient. The bottom line is, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Preece and his staff at Healthy Smiles to anyone. JUST AHHHHMAZZIN....I been going to AHS for about 2 years, every time i go the staff are so welcoming, and the service is phenomenal, the massage heated seats, and the comfortable setting makes its easy for me to relax. During the 2 years,I had 2 implants and veneers. I had a emergency and called the dr office and I expected a answering service but his voice mail said if I needed to b seen right away to call his cell phone number, so I did, him and his staff came in on a Saturday to accommodate me. I love the fact that they take Denali kid care and can get same day appointment.

Excellent dentist!!! Excellent reception/office manager!! Not like other dentists! Did not "tell me" what I needed to be done. Rather, let me know of where problem areas where and I decided what needed done from there! He was extremely gentle when it came to administering general anesthesia… That is hard to find! ... But again, the reason why we are going to be coming back is because I was NOT PUSHED INTO DENTAL WORK THAT I DIDN'T WANT TO BE DONE. THIS IS THE REASON WHY MYSELF AND MY FAMILY WILL BE BACK!!! The checkup and overall exam was probably the most thorough and meticulous one I've ever had. Thanks Dr. Preece! Although I'm not a fan of multiple X-Rays, I do understand the need for them. The ones taken today were somewhat different than those I've had in the past. The plastic cover over the bite-wing type film was strange...mostly from having what appeared to be a plastic wrapper in my mouth. I know these are never comfortable...regardless of the way the film is protected however. The 360 X-Ray was something I have never experienced...and provided an interesting overview of my teeth! Emily was very thorough, also, and worked hard removing several years worth of plaque. The water jet cleaning reminded me a bit of high pressure washes on equipment and vehicles/boats/planes! I did find that the water-removal system, at times, didn't seem to work as well as it should have...and this made it a bit hard to breathe. Possibly this was due to the slightly inverted position I was in? Emily did respond quickly when she sensed I was having some discomfort with this. Another thing I noticed, that may possibly be mitigated in some way, was the occasional high pitch from the water jet apparatus. It reminded me too much of drills used in addressing cavities...which is not a pleasant sound/memory for me. I wonder if someone makes a silencer for this (and drills) or has an ear adapter that keeps removes this pitch? Thanks for the opportunity to comment!
