Everyone at Uptown is friendly, welcoming, professional. But most of my experience there has been with Maya, the dental hygienist. She is the best. Besides leaving there with clean teeth, I feel like she takes her work very seriously and pays 100% attention to what she's doing, she's very good about answering questions, and if you're stuck in a chair with your mouth open for 30 minutes, she's a fine person to be there with : )

We recently moved to Albuquerque and my teenage son was seen at Uptown Dental this morning. He had a great experience. The staff and facility are warm and welcoming. They confirmed approval of all work before it was done and explained all potential charges. We felt they were friendly and professional and are glad we chose them for our dental care.

I'm not a person that enjoys going to the dentist in fact I avoided going to the dentist for 15 years. I chose Uptown Dental because if I needed serious work they have a sedation plan that would fit me. So far I have not needed any work but I have enjoyed the experience of going to the dentist at Uptown Dental and I like that my hygienist is always the same person which helps give me some comfort. I would recommend Uptown Dental for all your dental needs.

Not only the best dental experience I have ever had, but the absolute only place I will ever go anymore. Even when I didn’t live in New Mexico, I would come here and pay out of network costs because it’s so much better than anywhere else. I’ve had a root canal, tooth extraction, implant, Invisalign, cleanings, all kinds of things done here and all of it was extremely comfortable and was done with top quality care. I could not recommend this place any more! 10/10

As a semi new resident, I was very nervous about finding a new dentist. However, Uptown dental has really put my anxiety to ease. The dental hygienist cleaned my teeth in the most gentle manner, I literally almost fell asleep. Dr. Martinez is very detailed with his exams and gave me a dental plan that I felt really great about. Dr. Romeo squeezed me into his schedule when I broke my wisdom tooth and gave me the most gentle exam ever! If you have dental anxiety or have had a bad dental experience, head over to Uptown Dental. You will be treated with great care. Oh I almost forgot, their rates are really reasonable and the atmosphere is like being at a Mexican resort.

I was looking for treatment of gum recession and Uptown dental stood out as one of the few practices offering pinhole surgery. When Dr. Shepherd saw me, he recommended doing invisalign first instead, citing that it was my bite issue causing recession and may also cause relapse after pinhole. The staff are very professional in a good way, they worked with me to transfer my invisalign case to an orthodontist and it was mostly hassle free. This made me choose Uptown for my premolar extraction recommended by my orthodontist Dr. Robert Hann (another superb doctor). Dr. Jacob Greaves and his assistant Sofia did a great job with the extraction, with almost nonexistent pain even without antibiotics and prescription painkillers (I only took some tylenol...). This is day 2 of extraction and I already feel like I can run, although I probably won't. Finally, their hygienists are some of the best in town, very gentle but effective. The front desk (Kelly, Jasmine, Laura...) were all patient to field my numerous questions and requests. I highly recommend Uptown, they will go extra mile to attend your dental needs and provide appropriate specialist referrals as well if needed.

My dental care here was excellent. I enjoyed the service, the providers and the building. 3 stars because despite the good dental care, I spent 8 months fighting coverage for a night guard that I was told would be covered by my dental insurance. Uptown was not particularly helpful in facilitating this and ended up threatening to send it to collections, so I had to pay the entire balance.

What a great 1st visit. I'm new to the area, and even upon calling staff was very friendly. When I arrived staff greeted me and I was taking back shortly after. First and foremost, Lorena was awesome, professional and patient when selecting a good time for my visit since it was an emergency. Therefore, my appointment was made for the following. I was happy although, my tooth was in serious pain. Appointment was early this morning. Completed paperwork and the staff ( medical) called in into the patient office immediately. The nurse was caring, understanding and compassionate aaa well as Dr. Grieves. He immediately gave me a couple of options and I was ready to go. He called in a couple of prescriptions for my serious pain and antibiotics I have been taking. Please don't worry about being my bad hands your totally safe. On the other hand, a prescription was needing Dr. Grieves approval which was no problem with the assistance of Mrs.Ms. Sanchez who actually called me and helped me get the prescription taken care of. Everyone with Uptown Dental Associates were so professional, kind, caring and their manners of respect were awesome. Lastly, it's a safe, clean and well keep dental office. Thank you 😊

I had a bad experience at the UNM dental office, and Dr. Shepard not only solved my problem, but he took the time to explain what might've happened and the approach he took to resolve my issue. Uptown Dental Associates will not only take great care of your teeth, but they'll make the experience wonderful through being personable and quality customer service. And lastly, the facility is gorgeous. While ambience isn't my highest priority when visiting a dental office, it does help to improve the experience.

Uptown is a boutique for teeth! People are friendly, in a forced kind of way.Sparkly uniforms need updating, pond is amazing, but has algae, upholstery furniture pretty, but needs cleaning, wall scratches need paint, and music needs help!The doc is v good, then you are sent off to talk finances! If you like the idea of treating your smile as a new pair of shoes on Rodeo Drive, it's a great one stop shop. Definitely the most beautiful office in town! I suggest a facelift for the office and more genuine smiles by staff😊

They have early hours so that if you need to get to work you can go basically before work to have dental exams. And Dr. Martinez is young and will not retire on me so this is great!

Let's start this off with the fact that I have terrible anxiety when it comes to making a dentist appointment let alone going to the dentist. I first visited the Rio Rancho office where I met Dr. Romeo, who was so unbelievably kind and made me feel very comfortable. The whole staff there were very warm and welcoming. For the work I would be needing to get done, I was told to go to the Uptown Office. Again, my dental anxiety kicked in and I waited 6 months to make an appointment 🙃 😅 I finally did and it was the best decision. I was greeted on the phone by someone sooooo incredibly sweet and kind that it immediately lowered my anxiety. I made my appointment and met with Dr. Greaves and his assistant, again, another extremely kind person. He was very informative and answered all my questions and really made me feel comfortable. I'm so glad that I decided to seek out this Dentist, they truly do care about how you feel and making the process as easy as possible for. Not to mention the building is beautiful. If you're thinking about becoming a patient here, I'd highly recommend it!

When my dentist office closed down I was referred to this place and I’m happy they took me in. I’ve never been in such a technology-driven, clean and professional dental office. That’s not to say my previous dentists have been terrible. They’ve all been lovely but Uptown Dental Associates goes above and beyond. I’ve had two dental hygienist’s at this office so far and both have been friendly and knowledgeable. Maya is the one I’ve had most recently and she is super thorough in her examination and full of excellent advice. I’ve never had anyone explain how to properly care for jaw pain brought on by grinding and I’ve been aware of my clenching for over 15 years. Plus, they’ve got a lifetime whitening program that’s affordable and easy. I can’t say enough good things about this office. If you’re in the market for a new dentist, try this place out.

I had my biannual teeth hygiene appointment this morning. Stacey took additional gum depth measurements, then proceeded to clean each tooth thoroughly. She discussed what she was doing, the objectives, demonstrated how to use dental floss threaders for 3 of my front teeth implants. After sharing her overall assessment, she applied a fluoride treatment and discharge instructions.Uptown Dental is very professional, prompt,and courteous & I highly recommend their services!

First, the environment is beautiful! It’s like a Spanish hacienda, very elegant and yet welcoming and very clean. It does not have that dental office vibe. Next, the staff are always respectful, friendly, and they are very compassionate and understand people who have experienced dental trauma in the past. They know each client by face and name, and offer personalized treatment. They are one of few practices that offer both IV sedation and routine dental care. Usually, oral surgeons will do IV sedation, but not cleanings, exams, fillings, etc. general dentists usually don’t offer IV sedation. This practice is truly full service. Dr. Greaves is an expert with IV needle insertion on challenging veins, not even leaving a bruise. He lets me know what he is doing and is extremely easy to communicate with. The hygienist is very gentle and has a fun personality. Again, they remember me and much about my preferences and personal life that I’ve shared, which makes it feel like they truly care about me. The office is very responsive and respectful. They try to maximize my insurance benefits and work with me on spacing out procedures so I can absorb my part of the cost. They accept Care Credit. I highly recommend this dental practice to anyone, but especially to those who have experienced dental trauma in their lives.

From scheduling, checking in, and seeing the hygienist and dentist; the kindest people work here. Today I saw Stacy for x-ray and cleaning. She always comes and gets me herself from the very cozy waiting room, and treats me like family as we visit and share our day during a detailed cleaning. I have a difficult smile (never did braces) and have felt a little shy about my mouth. These folks have taken that away, they have made me so happy and healthy. Dr. Shephards entire family can be seen around the place from dad (Bob) keeping things going to mom making fresh cookies in the back to enjoy after the work is done! Dr. Romeo is absolutely the best dentist I’ve ever seen. I have extremely sensitive teeth and while I didn’t experience any pain in the numbed areas that he was working on, other parts of my mouth hurt so badly. He stopped several times throughout to see if I was okay, used different techniques and tools to ensure my other teeth weren’t exposed to cold air or water, and even went as far as to cover my teeth with cotton swabs. I know these extra steps made him run a bit late to his next patient but he did not seem rushed or bothered at all. He was patient and understanding. I’m so thankful! I also took my 3 year old son to his first dental appointment here and he had the time of his life! He tells me that he needs to go back to the dentist because his teeth are dirty and need to be cleaned at least once a week. I’ll definitely be back!

I have had the same hygienist at Uptown Dental for 14 years. She is awesome! Dr. Shepherd is great, too. I have been seeing him for about 10 years. The office has a friendly, sunny ambience. All the staff are friendly and seem happy. My teeth are happy, too. I used to have severe gum disease, but that is under control now, thanks to the care and guidance I have received at Uptown Dental.

I've only ever been there once for a consult, x-rays,& just to see what I needed done. Their prices are definitely not for the faint of heart, a bit higher then I remember the dentist being...but then again I haven't been to the dentist in 2-3 years at least. The overall atmosphere in this place is amazing, calm, and relaxing! Its not at all like any other place I've been. Everyone there if happy, and personable, and seems to really enjoy what they do. Dr. Shepherd is the most personable, kind person I have ever met! After explaining that I hadn't been to the dentist for so long, because I was "secretly" terrified. (because of some horribly painful experiences with my last few places) He was extremely understanding, & the whole time he was taking a look at my teeth, he was very careful, and kept asking if I was okay. I'm currently working on setting up my next appointment with Dr. Shepherd to get my teeth fixed, and honestly this is the calmest, & the most excited I have ever been to go to the dentist! I visited Uptown Dental yesterday as a new patient. I had a check up and a cleaning. It was quite possibly the best dental experience i’ve ever had. Beautiful office; short and very comfortable wait; Kelly, my hygienist, was friendly, efficient, extremely knowledgeable and gave me the best cleaning i’ve ever had. The examination room has a serene view of a courtyard with lots of natural light as well as good dental technology (in-chair x-rays and oral camera, screens for patients to view X-rays and oral pictures, hydrosonic cleaning tool, etc.); Dr. Shepherd was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and most importantly, he shares my conservative approach to interventions and seemed to genuinely care about and prioritize (1) my oral health and (2) my preferences about my dental care. They did not push me toward goods or services that I don’t think that I need. My teeth feel incredibly clean, my gums don’t hurt and I feel confident about my oral health plan. It was absolutely great. I hope that my family will be long term patients of this practice.

I've been in Albuquerque for about a month. I thought I had lost a filling. A co-worker recommended Uptown Dental Associates. I went there, not knowing what to expect. The lobby looks like a hotel lobby, and I was greeted by a very nice receptionist. I filled out a new-patient form, which was ridiculously thorough. I think they can shorten it a bit. They took my picture, which was used for the dental hygienist to recognize me. I waited in the lobby for about 2 minutes. The dental hygienist was very nice, friendly, and thorough. They contacted my previous dentist to obtain current x-rays and took a panoramic (free of charge). The dentist viewed my filling, which turned out to be a chipped ceramic of a crown, which he said needs no attention. He also examined a [recently] missing canine and provided me advice on an implant versus bridge. I just wanted a dentist to check a filling, and I was told that they could squeeze me in the schedule, but could only advise me on the filling, which would be needed to be taken care of at a later date. But what I got was an extremely thorough exam by a very efficient friendly staff. I couldn't be happier.

It was a pleasure going to the dentist even though I needed a crown. My original appointment was very easy and timely. My permanent crown was done several days later. I arrived about thirty (30) minutes early which was not a problem for them and as a result I was seen almost immediately. New crown installed without much effort.

We have gone to this practice for 12 years, but we will never go to this dentist again. In a nutshell, I chose to be sedated for a particular procedure, and when I woke up I realized that the dentist, Ryan Shepherd, had done another $2,400 worth of work on my mouth that I had neither wanted nor approved! He had pried off an existing cap and prepped another tooth for a cap, all without my permission. I was left with two temporary caps. When I complained that they did work that I had not authorized, all they could offer was that I could pay it off in payments, instead of all at once. BIG DEAL. Do not use this dentist. You never know what he will do while you are sedated, and then expect YOU to pay for it. UPDATE: I appreciate your immediate response to this critique. And I appreciate that you have volunteered to not charge me for the work that was done while I was sedated. For that reason I will change my rating from 1 to 3 stars, as I see you making an attempt to remedy the issue. A few details in your answer that do not match my experience: 1) I never knowingly approved those two teeth to be fixed by the dentist. I may have signed something at the end of my appointment, which in my mind was "I agree that the dentist told me about these teeth" not that I agreed to fix them yet. 2) These two teeth were not discussed twice, but only once in a very quick in and out by the dentist. I was of the opinion that they were something that I had to do in the future, sometime. I was NEVER was told about decay or infection until I heard it today in your response. 3) It is true that your office spoke to my husband about these teeth, while he was in his Astrophysics class at UNM. He answered the phone only because he thought there might be an emergency. My husband does not make dental decisions for me, plus I had only mentioned this to him once, some time ago, he had forgotten the details. Thank you again for choosing to remedy this negative experience, and to not charge me for work that was done while I was sedated, for which I did not approve.

5 stars: I had a very good experience with Dr. Greaves and his dental assistants (I had a filling replaced). Just truly professional, and courteous. Dr. Greaves is the most pleasant dentist I've had, and he worked quickly and skillfully. My previous experience was generally good, too, but my assistant that time was a little cold. Here's what I originally wrote (And Dr. Greaves graciously listened and responded): I'd ideally give 3.5 to 4 stars - a generally OK to good experience. Most importantly, Doctor Greaves was courteous, personable, professional, and fast (in a good way), while still answering my questions. The folks at the front end were all very friendly and professional. But the dentist's assistant was kind of cold and a bit rough. Like, where most helpers would kindly say "open" - she would just shove the tools in my face. She seemed mildly put out to be working on me - no bedside manner to speak of. Cold. It's not the most important thing in the world, but it matters to me. Out of all the people I've had work with me - hygeinists, assistants, etc, she was definitely the least pleasant. Hopefully it was just an off-day for her. We all have bad days. Anyhow, mostly it was a pretty good experience, and I plan to try them again.
