I highly recommend this dance school for families who are committed to the art, physicality and discipline that dance has to offer kids interested in all styles of dance. My daughters have taken a variety of classes at AYDT and will begin their 8th year dancing with the studio. They both take their ABT curriculum ballet and thoroughly enjoy the discipline it has instilled in their daily and weekly routines. Each semester you can see their personal growth and commitment to dance itself, their fellow dancers and the studio/staff. Initially they only took ballet and one elective class, hip hop. As their ballet classes increased we dropped this class for a bit and have in the last two years (yes, during COVID!) picked up other styles (Contemporary and now Broadway). Both of my daughters look forward to their Nutcracker (ballet) roles year after year as well as their additional performances in other styles. The choreography, costumes, communication and organization of AYDT recitals does not go unnoticed. We really appreciate the attention to detail and priority for previously enrolled students to sign up each semester. Lastly, the staff are fantastic. We've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the teachers and know that they have the best interests of the students in mind when they come to teach, create choreography and follow up if they have feedback. Throughout our time before, during and since COVID has become a norm to deal with, the studio and staff have been thoughtful, attentive, communicative, patient and caring. If you told my kids they were leaving and couldn't dance at AYDT you'd break their heart. AYDT is their afterschool & Saturday home. They have made many dance friends and we look forward to several years of classes and performance to come!

My daughter loves ballet and loves her teacher here. I think they do a great job of putting together programs for the kids. My daughter was the first one to come back into classes when they opened back up. There was her and one other girl for the longest time. She was so happy to be back doing what she loved. We were very happy with the overall curriculum. We decided to remove our daughter from AYDT because they refused to make masking children optional. Even though everyone must be vaccinated. Even though covid is mild and rarely effects children. Even though every other ballet school I checked with in the city allows for optional masking. The director has held on to her paranoia and I could not longer allow them to push their erratic beliefs on my child. As a parent I get to decide what is best for my child’s well being. I have put mental health of my kid above a virus that is no different than a mild cold for her. I hope some day they come to their senses but I doubt it. No where else in the world force masking kids like this. All her work towards her beautiful performance and she can’t even share her smile. She can’t see other smiles. Heartbreaking. As I said this is the only school I found that still forces masking so I would encourage parents who feel the same to look elsewhere.

Great!!! my 5 years old daughter has been taking class for one year and We are very happy with the experience. The price is no expensive and the teachers are excellent with kids very professional. The front desk always helpful and kind. 100% recommended. I am very grateful. My daughter have learned a lot. She loves it. We looking forward to continue this beautiful journey with AYDT.

My daughter started with the American Youth Dance Theater since Mommy-and-Me and since then she’s been loving it. She always looks forward to her classes. All her teachers are fantastic. Their motivating and graceful presence are always welcoming. The final assessment for each class is certainly helpful. It points out the strengths and suggests which technique needs to be improved. We are thankful. The recitals are lovely and are definitely the highlights of the year....AYDT is highly recommendable!!!!!

We really love AYDT. Both of my daughters have been dancing here for close to 5 years. They look forward to class all week! I especially love how the teachers get to know the students, are so passionate and enthusiastic about dance, and are so friendly and wonderful. My daughters currently take tap, Broadway, ballet, contemporary and hip-hop! So much fun!!

My daughter has been taking ballet classes for the last three years at AYDT. Ballet classes are the highlight of my child's week. I find the Director, the teachers and the staff very caring and tuned to children's needs. My daughter absolutely loves her dance teachers, who use a rigorous curriculum but in a warm and playful way. The school puts together a winter and spring show every year, where every child has the opportunity to dance. I could not think of a better place to send my daughter!

My daughter has enjoyed participating in Ballet, Broadway/jazz, summer camp and summer dance classes at American Youth Dance Theater for six years. From when she began when she was three the staff, instructors, older dance students and parents have been wonderful. For the younger dance students the Junior Recital is wonderful introduction to performing. My daughter enjoys performing in the Senior Recital as our family enjoys watching her and the many dance disciplines AYDT offers. Every year we are amazed with the students performance at all levels. Thank you Natalia, Monique, Jackie, Sam, Elizabeth, Pat (we will miss you) and the many wonderful instructors. We look forward to another wonderful year at AYDT.

My 3 daughters are alumni of AYDT and they have loved every minute of their experience there. From ballet to hip hop the teachers are fun and competent, it is well organized and kids love it! 1 of my daughter's close friends was actually scouted by ABT, that is to say the level of classes!

My daughter has been taking ballet at AYDT since she was 2 years old. Even when she broke her leg at 2.5 years old and couldn't participate in many activities she insisted she attend her ballet class with her cast! AYBT has always encouraged my daughter to be HER very best and acknowledges that each student is an individual and has individual potential. The instructors have always been disciplined but thoughtful and as I mentioned, encouraging. Lastly, the goal of a performance for all students is an exciting culmination of each semester and motivates the students to work hard at all aspects of performing. We have been very happy and can whole heartedly recommend AYDT to all children and parents!

Both my daughters love their dance classes at AYDT (ballet, tap, contemporary and jaz). The teachers are professional and push the students to achieve their best but in a very supportive, caring and fun way. The two dance recitals each year are a definite highlight and a chance for the students to perform and put into practice new skills learnt. The end of year reports are very detailed and helpful. I would definitely recommend AYDT.

My daughter has been dancing at AYDT for several years and it has become so much more than a dance school for her. Not only has she excelled as a dancer, and been given opportunities to perform and to provide community service through dance, but she has been taught skills that go far beyond dance. Her teachers have helped her become a better team player, have taught her discipline, focus and the benefits of hard work, and the school has become a community for her that is irreplaceable. They have helped to learn to accept constructive criticism and set goals for herself. She has made friends there that she counts amongst her closest. I honestly don't think she would be the child she is today if it weren't for AYDT.

The American Youth Dance Theater has been the most incredible and supportive environment for my 13 year old daughter. She has been so privileged to have these wonderful teachers. She has evolved as a dancer and a person through this experience. The school manages to teach and at the same time make kids happy, through a rigorous curriculum and the right technique.
