Roger at Hall Madden helped me create a completely custom tuxedo for my wedding. The experience from start to finish was exceptional. Roger helped me make tasteful choices on everything from fit to fabric. As a big and tall guy, he made sure the tuxedo fit properly and was proportionate to my frame. He kept me updated throughout the entire process and when we experienced a slight delay in delivery, he communicated frequently on updates. I would highly recommend Hall Madden for any of your custom suit/tuxedo/formal wear needs. You will NOT be disappointed!

Amazing experience getting my first custom suit for my wedding. Had always bought suits off the rack so this was a new experience, but it makes a whole world of difference. Roger guided me through the design of the suit and was great even though I had no idea about most of the process. Through a couple of appointments we designed the perfect suit for my beach wedding and it came out amazing. I'm very slim and never had a suit fit so well before. Also bought a custom fit shirt which turned out great, and will probably return to get more of these. Took about 8 weeks total for the whole process so make sure you have time. Overall great experience and would highly recommend for anyone looking to step up their suit game!

It has taken me more than a year to write this review. Most would have simply forgotten and kept it moving. But it has taken me this long to decompress from the wedding, and how good I looked thanks to Hall and Madden. At any rate, I ended up at this location by mistake. Somehow, I thought I could go to Hall and Madden to rent a tuxedo for my wedding, so my father-in-law and I showed up to do just that. We met with Roger who is one of the best people you’ll ever meet. Very professional and knowledgeable. I had planned to do something else and really didn’t want to own a tuxedo because I’m a get dirty kinda guy and I’m a cheapo. However, the wedding date was closing in and I had to do something, so I said what the hey. It did come to me that I probably shouldn’t try to cut costs on one of the most important days of my life and that the event does deserve the best I could do. Now comes Roger, the person to help me achieve the look I wanted and would not land me in hot water with my new wife. A truly one of a kind look all the way down to the buttons. Roger was patient and listened carefully to the details I wanted and patiently went over countless options that fit my description. They have an extensive number of textiles and materials, and they even have a significant number of casual options, all available to be custom tailored to your liking. I had no idea how much tailor fit would make a difference in the look, but it is the only way to go. Hall and Madden is the only way to go when you want the absolute best custom look. Roger brilliantly measured my oddly shaped body and my suit didn’t require a single adjustment upon delivery, which was perfect despite a tight deadline. I danced for hours I this suit and everything stayed in place and looked wonderful still at the end of the day. The entire experience with Hall and Madden was perfect thanks to Roger. A unique experience with service and quality worth your time and worth your money and that’s a hard thing to find these days. Give Hall and Madden a shot, you won’t be disappointed!

I am not even sure where to begin with this experience...being a female and searching for a tux for my wedding was a struggle from the beginning. I am a short athletic built female so I will always need to have custom made suits. I went to four other stores before making the ridiculous drive to DC and I couldn't have been happier with the decision to have my tux made with Hall Madden. Roger is by far one of the most knowledgeable and professional individuals I've ever met in my life. On my first visit he coordinated with my wife to help surprise me with a visit from my mother out of state to attend my consultation. My second visit consisted of me being measured and choosing every detail of my tux all the way down to the buttons on my sleeves. During my second and third appointments he kept in contact with me helping me to choose the best shoe that would coordinate with my tux. Once my tux arrived in just 4 short weeks, we only had minor adjustments to make, because Roger got pretty darn close in my measurements. It took about 2 weeks for the final adjustments to be completed but during that time Roger was not pleased with the adjustments of my vest and he had a completely new vest made, shipped and delivered before my final fitting! On my wedding day I couldn't believe how it all came together! My wife and I had no idea what the other would look like but with the help of our family and Roger we coordinated so well that everyone thought we had purchased our tux and dress together! Roger will go above and beyond to ensure that you are not settling for anything when you walk into that store. He will give you ALL of the options and an array of price ranges, fabrics, colors, you name it! He will give you his honest professional opinion and ensure that you're completely happy with the outcome of your product. I will absolutely be working with him on more items to add to my wardrobe. I highly recommend Hall Madden for a quality suit or tux that will absolutely last you a lifetime!

You won’t find better fitting or more comfortable suits and dress shirts anywhere. Roger is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. He worked patiently with me in combing through all the different fabrics and colors available, and took my measurements in no time. He even sourced bamboo fabric for me (which everyone needs to check out)! If you’ve never had a custom suit or dress shirt before, you don’t know what you’re missing. Roger makes the entire process friendly and unintimidating. The suits are just killer. I walk out of there feeing like Daniel Craig every time, despite no semblance of charm or physical strength.

I did my research prior to coming to Hall Madden in Washington D.C. I wanted to make a custom suit for my wedding. When I met Roger the first time, we went through measurements and choosing the type of fabric, color, button, the design etc about the three piece suit with a white shirt. We tried on a sample suit jacket that closely fit my body type. From there he took down every detail and I made a payment for it on the first visit. After a short turnaround time less than 4 weeks, he was able to have my suit ready in time for my wedding. I was highly impressed and pleased with the way it turned out. On my second visit, we tried it on and the pants just needed a slight adjustment which he was able to take care of for me within 2 days. He kept me updated all the time and I went to him for advice when I was also buying shoes. On the day of my wedding, I felt amazing and just comfortable. I'm super happy and will continue to work with Roger in building another one for myself in the future. It was bespoke, no corners were cut, and then the result is something I will cherish through my wedding photos.

Was incredibly impressed by Hall Madden at every stage of working with them. Roger helped me with a custom tuxedo I needed within a short timeline for a wedding. He moved incredibly quickly, but was extremely thorough - thinking through the weight of the fabric for the time of year of the wedding, the lapel width best suited for my body type, and so much more. I gave him a vague sense of what I was looking for before I went in for measurements, and he had pulled exactly what I had envisioned and we went through every aspect of fit (I do not have the average male body and wanted a very specific cut and fit) and the most minor of details, ensuring the final product represented the style I had envisioned. Then, just a couple of weeks later, my tuxedo arrived (shipped outside of D.C. where I was on vacation), and he offered to do a virtual meeting for any alterations needed. It fit absolutely perfectly, was incredibly polished, and represented my vision completely. Now, I still have plenty of time before the wedding, and I do not need to make a single adjustment. Absolutely thrilled with the service at Hall Madden. My brother used them for his suits beforehand and visited their trunk shows and now we're using it for his wedding tuxedo. I'm really glad they have an office now so it's much easier to see all their fabrics. The process is super easy. His body's changed since he first worked with them a few years ago so Claire suggested he be refit. He was put in a sample suit and she went over all the changes they would make to the jacket and pants -- we also decided on a vest to make it more unique. There were a lot of fabrics to choose from -- even some WILD ones -- but Claire helped us narrow down to what would be appropriate for our black tie wedding. We ended up choosing a Loro Piana fabric and they're making us a sample suit first before making his final suit -- just to make sure the fit is perfect. I really did not expect that, but learned it's something they offer for free for their higher-end fabrics. We'll be back in a few weeks for the next fitting for the sample suit and shirt we picked out. I'm a bit jealous how easy it was for my brother, but glad to know it's one less stressful thing to think about!

A great custom suit buying experience. My first intention was to look through the fabrics, which Roger was happy to let me browse but shortly after arrival he wanted to get started with the measurement process. I put on a sample jacket and pant, and he started his process. Measurements first. Then he started pointing out all the things he did not want to see on a custom fit suit, this is where I felt like I was in good hands. Because of the time it took to do the measurements it allowed me to think about the color samples I had seen and looked at and when I returned to the fabric selection I knew which one I wanted that stuck out the most to my liking. He went over the different options for style, colors, buttons, threading etc. Came back a month later and the fit was 100% on point. The suit looked awesome and I cant wait to wear it to my wedding. If you are in the market… this is the place to go here in DC.

I followed Roger here from another bespoke suite outfit. Hall Madden has excellent quality suits, shirts and more. However, even better than the quality clothing is the service - Roger will treat you right, find the pieces that fit for you, communicate clearly and make sure you get what you need. The thing I like the most about Roger is that he knows when to take care of little details that I don't care enough about choosing - even though I do care about those little details on the finished product.

She had great advice about designing the tuxedo to make sure it was a piece that would always stay in style, and also gave us some wonderful unique options to add on and make it special for our day. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable but she also was very professional and patient with my husband and I while we chose his wedding day suit. Excellent customer service and beautiful suits! I've been a customer of Hall Madden for a few years....when the company used to be called Proper Suits. Hall Madden is a MTM (made-to-measure) suit and shirting company that provides an excellent suits at very competitive price. I have ordered at least five suits and one sport jacket from them and I've been happy with all of them. Prior to Hall Madden I had my MTM suits from Brooks Brothers in Tysons Corner but they always had several details wrong and had to have multiple fittings to get them right, whereas Hall Madden fits almost perfectly the first time I try them on. Claire Butler is the Hall Madden's representative and fitter at the DC store who provided me an excellent service both times I was visiting the store. She is attentive and don't rush you to make a decision or push higher priced fabric on you. I spent close to an hour with Claire on my wedding suit consultation and I was the only person in the shop....no overbooking like some places. While Hall Madden is not the cheapest--if you want cheap try Indochino--they deliver one of the best quality for the price. One disclosure is that they do make their suits in China like most MTM businesses and the usual turn around time for an order is about 4 to 6 weeks.

After a 6-month search of all options DC had to offer, I decided on Claire at Hall Madden for my tuxedo for my May wedding. Bottom Line: I could not be more happy with the entire experience and my final product. Claire is an absolute pro who knows the traditional standards for everything related to men’s fashion. My fiancé attended the fitting with me for my tuxedo and was equally compilmentary about Claire’s attention to detail. She’s actually been telling most of our friends and family about it more than I have. I did not stumble into Hall Madden. I have friends that have used just about every bespoke custom suit shop in DC, and this was a result of their feedback at other places and the reviews I saw online. I have an athletic build that typically makes suit shopping difficult, but not the case with Claire. I WILL be back and will recommend Hall Madden to literally every DC friend I have that is looking for that one suit or tuxedo to stand out amongst the rest.
