Probably the best place I know of to get suspenders, which is great because my husband is a suspender fanatic. Everything in here is so cool and high quality, and just the kind of awesome fashion you can't find in very many other stores. I drool every time I walk past their windows! Staff is also awesome, very friendly and helpful! Probably my favorite store in all of Seattle. 🖤🤘

I consider myself casually alt so I'm not usually dolled up enough to feel like I belong here. Apparently the employees don't think so either because out of the 10 or so times I've been in, I have never been spoken to by any of them. It feels like I'm invisible which is fine if you're introverted or shy, but after so many times receiving absolutely no acknowledgement even when the shop isn't busy, it starts to feel intentional and unwelcoming. 3 stars for its unique selection and occasional good deals in the sale section.

Most cool store. Steampunk, goth, just unique clothing with a creative, dark slant. Astonishing shoes. I never visit Seattle without buying something here. A black fairy skirt was my most recent. Wish they sold online.

The store is popular, which is awesome for the business, but the tight quarters make is hard to move about, especially if you are a larger person. That said, the staff are helpful and nice. The merchandise is great and clothing should fit most people. If you are plus size, don't look here for clothing. They go up for 2xl, but it runs a little small. Accessories and home decor items is where you'll find some really good stuff, especially if you like Killstar.

Parking can be tricky, but for an hour on the street the meter is about a dollar. Staff are friendly, they will help you look at their jewelry, glass case items, and get you shoes to try on. Its not a small store but it is filled to the brim with clothes, bags, and merchandise, so some may be overwhelmed at the variety. I saw plus size items but the smaller size items were in greater supply. The prices are average, 10$ for pins, 15-20$ for glasses, 30$ for elaborate jewelry, most dresses where 40$+, more higher end goods like shoes and coats are 100$+. They had purses, toys, kitchenware, decorum, pretty much everything. A good stop for many fashions: baby bat, goths, alternative, yami kawaii, emo, scene, punk, pagan, demonic, the whole spectrum. They also have "sister" stores in the area for those who might want more Victorian, bondage based, or rave centered looks as well. Keep in mind (for those visiting), this is Seattle, sometimes people on the street will be yelling, sometimes strangers can cause a mild scene, its normal like any major city; so at first I felt I was being watched in the store but that was expected given the area and the people who can wander in. They let me and my family peruse and didn't approach us till we circled back to ask about shoes and glass case items. You don't have to look a certain way to come in and staff are approachable regardless. The store is clean and didn't smell like weed or anything funky (again, Seattle), and has an "upstairs" area for pictures and what not as well. I got extra items to bring back to friends since coming to this store was a goal of mine. I also liked their interior music choice and wished I could have stayed longer. There's a cute pet supply shop next door to kill time in until they open too.

love this store. my only gripe is that i wish they stocked more things above a 2X, but i get that it's hard to find goth or alt clothing brands that even make plus sizes so that's not entirely this store's fault.

All of the staff were super helpful, friendly and quick. One of them searched for the right size of boots, even though they were on snother floor. My friend was super happy with her purchase and added quite a few items to her wish list for out next visit.

I have to say that I am absolutely impressed by the massive selection at New York Exchange. I found punkrave, Tripp NYC, killstar, pentagramme, demonia and much more. Huge selection of leather collars and other accessories. I spoke with an employee and was told that they used to own metro boutique in Portland and that's my home town and love that store. Very similar vibe and community. I have to say that this is one of the largest selections of any goth shop I have visited. If your a creature of the night, you will feel at home here⚰️🧛🏻‍♀️🦇🖤

Beautiful and unique clothes with a good variety of sizes. See pictures for the items I bought. I really wanted to get some Demonia shoes, which they have a lot of in stock, but I had a limit on my budget at the time. The staff were super helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was visiting the city from Victoria, BC back in February. The staff looked up the duty limits and a taxi company's phone number for me because I didn't want to get roaming fees on my phone; simply above and beyond service. They were very friendly too, and recommended some cool, gothic places for me to visit in the evening. Sorry I couldn't make it to The Mercury, guys, my friends were too tired to go out that night. Will definitely come back on my next visit, though!

Do you miss skipping school in the 90s to sit on the floor in the mall? Well grab your steampunk goggles and strap into your trip pants because this is the shop for you. I am honestly in love with this spot. ✨ You walk in to see a foyer of flatform and platform boots and sneakers. Inside there is product from the floor to the ceiling everywhere. There are pins, patches, bracelets, necklaces, rings and all the other accessories you need to go with your leather jacket and fishnets. They have a huge clothing selection. They have a few styles of Tripp pants, some clothing from Killstar, and everything you need to live out your steam punk cosplay dreams. Across the store there are kinky products. Lots of collars and cuffs. Studded bracelets and belts. There are even some puppy play hoods. There are matching top and bottom sets that I imagine could be worn by go-go boys or people on floats at pride 🌈 👯‍♂️ Enjoy 👈🏾😎👉🏾

From the outside of the entrance it has the appearance of a commercial establishment within; a sort of mundane layout. After entering through the business door, an optimistic person would be glad they didn't, quote "judge a book by its cover", and be amazed what merchandise/variety that was almost overlooked possibly, again.

Great store with a huge selection of Gothic themed clothes, accessories and more! They also carry a wide assortment of pride items, shoes, bags, makeup and more! Even if you don't come in intending to purchase anything, it's still great to browse all the beautiful items. Stuff I've bought from here is on the pricier end but the quality of the item is absolutely worth the price.

My 16 yr old daughter spends way too much money here! She loves it. For her birthday this was the place she requested to come. She bought some tall boots. It was busy but the friendly worker ran back and forth getting 3 different sizes. We've shopped there many times over the last couple of years. Great unique place!

Of all the customers in the store, an employee questioned why I wanted to try on a jacket in the dressing room and suspected I was stealing. Before that happened, I even came to her with the clothes I wanted to try on so she could check before I used the dressing room but she didn't. I get it when she said it had happened before but questioning me like that and just left without saying anything was not very friendly.

I love this store, I like alternative fashion and to find a store that has Gothic, dark, and very different bright and shiny stuff. I find fashion gem that you can't get normally, that make me feel amazing. I just got a long cloaked hoodie today and got a furry leopard long furry vest about 4 months that I wear at every chance.

This place has just about everything you could possibly want when it comes to clothing and accessories. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and go out of their way to buy the perfect items. Located right on Broadway in Capitol Hill It's one of the heartbeat locations of the area. They have the best selection of high heel platform shoes, lots of leather and an array of fantastic accessories and their prices are incredible.

This shop literally has two of everything and is great to slowly go through. This is my go to when I need to shop for folks that are a bit fancy and a little kinky and /or eclectic. I always leave with more than anticipated. The costume options are to swoon for and the pricing is on point for the quality for the most part. The sizing of the clothes tends to run small so if you're bigger gal/guy you may not find certain clothing options in your size (but here's a cape swoosh around in...swoon!). They also don't do gift receipts. If you're on the hill and haven't been to this shop, do yourself the favor and check them out. You shouldn't be disappointed.

By far my favorite clothing store. It's great for plus size people! As one myself I can say for sure the sizing is far better than many alt stores. Good for everything from rave wear and steampunk, to goth and alt grunge. It's pretty expensive but the quality is worth it.

So I wear glasses and because of covid it's been very hard for me to actually use them. So I am sorry that I walk around the store like a little Gremlin but I genuinely can't see anything. Not only did the staff help me find the right sizes they were very sweet and friendly when something that I wanted was at a stock in my size. All I had to do was give them my number in my name and they are going to contact me when they have it in stock. Also I got a free bottle of nail polish! I think was part of a promotion but it's still awesome! Their clothes aren't costume stuff there actually made of a good quality material. This store is a perfect example of under promising and over delivering.

If you're goth, emo, punk or alternative fashion this store has it all. It's quite pricey so make sure you've got a buttload of cash in the bank if you want to get some clothing here but it's absolutely worth it. The staff are pretty chill and are also into alternative fashion.

They mostly carry nu-goth, baby doll goth, steampunk, a small rave section, and some lolita derivative outfits. Huge demonia collection and there are some good finds. There are a ton of accessories, which are what I usually come in for. My only complaint is that most of the apparel seem to be somewhat overpriced despite some of items are very cheaply made and generic looking. Dresses with faux-blouses, uncomfortable, very thin fabric and plastic jewelry. Obviously not the entire store but it's hard to find a high-quality item or not feeling like you're wasting money when you could get something for roughly same price with better quality online from an independent artist. I have fun browsing here but that's my one complaint other than the store is incredibly small and it gets crowded at times- especially with all the demonias being displayed in the doorway. I remember the store being hard to navigate because of the amount of people and no one seems to be regulating the amount of customers that come in at a time. The employees are very nice 👍 If you're looking for a more curated wardrobe maybe stick to online shopping ( edit: this unfortunately includes people with larger sizing needs as well :( )

Love the accessories. Do not plan on finding much if you are a cupcake girl or a fluffy fella. While some of their items do accommodate up to 3XL, this can mean anywhere from a 14 to a 22. If you are larger up top such as myself then it is all but impossible to find something. Staff was awesome and polite. If you are below a 14 you will find a wide variety of alternative clothes, name brands, and prices to match.

Sensory overload in goth merch. They have it all; Skirts, shirts, hats, jewelry, pride merch, boots, heels, coats and lingerie to start. Black galore and vibrant colored clothing too. Service great, clean and prices decent for well made wares. Do check it out!

Between rave wear and alternative fashion, this shop is the place to go! The best thing about The New York Xchange is that the store is gender fluid and for everyone no matter your shape or size - it caters to everyone. This shop brings in new merchandise weekly and selects merchandise in mind of big events such as Burning Man, Pride Month, Halloween, and much more. Its the perfect place to find the finishing touches on an outfit or make a complete look! The staff is very friendly and helpful to help those who need assistance. They are very knowledgeable in their product and have great insight in putting together outfits. My advise is to take you time when you shop! There's a lot to find and you won't be disappointed!
