Awesome bags and reasonable prices. This is the store that a lot of the bags are cut and sewn. They only carry discounted and less than perfect bags here. Some of the designs are funky and out of wack but they offer a 20% discount.

I ordered a Custom Chebeague Duffel as a gift to my sister in law for graduating and thought it would be helpful for babysitting with the arrival of my newborn. The quality of the material and craftsmanship is top notch, BUT IT WAS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT MADE ME A LIFE LONG CUSTOMER. It was more than a year after giving it as a gift, I was told it ripped by the strap after a use of only 5-6 times. Looking at it, the strap and stitching held, the sail itself ripped. I was saddened to hear as it was such a unique and stunning bag. I didn’t think it would work but I spoke to customer service and explained my situation. They apologized for the situation, explained that normally don’t pay for shipping for anything that was purchased over a year but paid for it anyways. They also wanted to save the bag if they could, but if not, would make a new one for me. Now I am patiently waiting for my new bag to give back and wanted to let everyone know, this company CARES. Also, shout out to the customer service manager Sierra Gridley, thank you thank you thank you!

EDIT: after leaving this initial review, Paul was very attentive in helping to solve the problem for my customer with the defective wristlet. He made the situation right and I appreciate the effort and amended my review and rating to reflect that. I am a retailer who carries their products in my shop. A customer bought one of their wristlets for Christmas and had it for two weeks before one of the grommets fell off. I advised the customer to contact Sea Bags directly to see if they could repair it as this is clearly a defective item, she has emailed them numerous times as have I in a wholesale portal which I can see that they read my messages and still will not respond to any of our messages.

Late summer I ordered a large tote bag as a wedding gift for my son and fiancé who were getting married in November. The liner was to be the guestbook where 140 invited guests would write their well wishes. 2020 being what it has been left the wedding in doubt and the guests sidelined. With the liner waiting in my dining room to bring to a reception with maybe 20 people, I sent out an email to the friends and family to send me their messages that I would write on the guestbook /liner to surprise Jonathan and Alice. As the emails came in, I began writing with the supplied laundry markers, all the beautiful messages their friends were sending. On the day of the wedding, the guestbook was completed with the 18 immediate family in attendance. When Jonathan and Alice saw all the messages they were moved to tears. I took the liner home, mailed it back to Seabags asking if they would mail the finished tote directly to Jonathan and Alice. It arrived yesterday and they were overwhelmed with how beautiful it is. Jonathan said “It is like a piece of art, I don’t think we could take it to the beach or put anything in it, we just want to look at how beautiful and special this is.” Everyone at Seabags treats the customer like a personal friend. From the first day I called to ask how the wedding tote worked to returning it with long messages, all done within the lines, they were so helpful and caring. Every single person I told about this thought it was the coolest idea! There are so many bags and ideas you could lose yourself in creativity. Thank you everyone at Seabags for making such an awesome memory for Jonathan and Alice.

One of the highlights of my trip! Intelligently designed bags with loads of variety to suit every style. I was amazed by their service as they noticed what I liked and helped me find one of a kind pieces from the back and on their excellent web site. They even suggested and showed me a style that perfectly matched what I was wishing for! With them making the bags on site you can see how they are made plus get pockets or clasps added in no time.

Visiting this store was a real treasure for my wife and me. Completely unexpected. Great products made of of recycled sails. Everything was so well thought out, and the real treasure to us was the fact that everything is made in the premises! Products are not imported from China like so many other stores. Also the person we spoke with gave us a great lunch idea which made for a perfect day for us. This store is a must-see, and take your time and look around and look in the back where all of the products are made 🌞

I can't say enough about this company!! But my multiple purchases speak for themselves. I have ordered from Amazon & directly from their online site. Any issues were resolved above and beyond expectations. Included in the photos are my purchases up to date. Also, add on features and some specifics about them. The clasp and interior zip pockets are optional but I always purchase them because they add convenience to the bag. The interior zipper pocket is of perfect size and holds essentials for easy access, in my case two pill bottles that I have to carry with me at all times. The clasp is easy to utilize. Also, each tote bag has a built-in pocket for cell phones which is a lifesaver for me because it's easy to access and I'm not constantly searching for it in my bag. The wristlets are great for easy access items like cash, bank cards lip stick and during this pandemic, a mask. The Crossbody is another one of my faves for hiking, short trips, or even long ones. I can put my essentials in it, throw it in my tote and use it when I don't want to carry my tote into places. Aside from all of the above features these bags is easy maintenance. You can spot clean or even throw them in the washer and hang them to dry. This Company has teamed up with Life is Good, another one of my favorite places to shop, and has an exclusive line for them. They are involved in Charities and at the moment are sponsoring the Dempsey Foundation, which provides ultimate care for cancer patients and their families. By raising $5000 you receive an exclusive, signed bag by the Founder, Patrick Dempsey formerly know as "McDreamy" on the long running and popular series, Greys Anatomy. To show how great Customer Service is, I provided a photo that was taken by Kathryn Flynn from her office view. She shared this with me to brighten my day through an email. She has treated me like a friend, not just a customer, and at that time I had made only one purchase. How many retailers do that?? I admire what this company is doing and stands for. I especially am intrigued with owning a bag that has weathered the Seas. I am far away from an Ocean but I can pack a part of it with me all the time. The quality of these bags far outweigh the price tag and I highly recommend Sea Bags of Maine and anything they sell. These repurposed sails will continue to Sail On for a lifetime.

This is an exceptional store--from concept to the finished product--recycled sails into beautiful, useful bags. We had three sails we replaced and didn't want to throw away as more land fill and didn't have the venue to sell them. Seabags takes your used sails and makes them useful again. We accepted one sea bag in exchange for the three we donated. They use the donations to help fund a sailing school. We're proud of our bag and grateful to this store for such a good idea and a great quality product. I encourage anyone with old sails to contact this company, you'll be happy you did! Ordered a custom bag as a Christmas Gift. Ann was extremely helpful and has such a great personality. She was able to get me the design I wanted and make the process easy. I was told it could take a while to have a drawing made for me to approve, and I received it after 2 days. Goes to show the rest of the team at Seabag are just as great as Ann! I tried to place an order on-line and had a hard time. Called the Old Port store to place the order instead and got Ann O. She was amazing!!!! Very Friendly & super helpful!!! Second time dealing with the Old Port location & I highly recommend it! My wife loves the bags & the sales staff ( especially Ann) are great to work with!

We went to the Portland Maine store yesterday.( aka Flagship Store ) This place is amazing! Kelly, one of the staff waited on us. She explained the different merchandise, how it was made. (You can look over the pony wall and see them creating each bag. She was extremely helpful, knowlegdable, and told us that we could have our purchases shipped. Each bag is unique no two are the same. There's so many to chose from everything is made right there. They also have recycled trap lines from lobster that have made into door mats, There's a large selection of colors. Both the Sea Bags and the lobster mats have been featured on the DIY channel's Maine Cabin Masters show. Everything in the shop is made in the USA much of it made in Maine. There's many things to enjoy in there. Definitely take the time to go here! It's well worth it!

The bags sold by this company are recycled sails from sailboats—what a novel idea! As a result, they withstand all kinds of weather! I bought the bucket bag to use as a lunch bag and it’s perfect. (There isn’t insulation for keeping lunches cold, I use for transporting.) this would make a perfect gift bag and can be used to store things afterward and adds a sailing vibe to your decor. It’s a conversation piece for sure as everyone asks me about my bag! The larger totes are on my to-get list. The bags are expensive, yet you won’t likely need to replace one ever. They’ve got prints and plain white and even holiday options. Extremely unique, versatile, and high quality! Splurge—you won’t regret it! Rather, you’ll treasure you Seabag always!

I bought my first bag in December of 2017, it needed a little repair in May and I couldn’t have gotten any better service than I did. They were spectacular, I was going to be without my bag for 2 weeks due to the shipping out and in of repairs... happily they were able to repair the tiny issue in store and I got the bag back the next day! Love my sea bag, what an awesome modern solution for the classic Maine boat bag. The recycled sail makes for a heavy duty, water resistant bag. We got a big one so it zips shut and has heavy duty plastic nautical zippers and a secret inside, so pocket for stuff like your keys, phone and wallet.
