If you're looking for quality and a hat that will last, this is the place. Expensive... yes. But quality is an investment, and with proper care these hats can last a lifetime. A genuine hat shop is a rare thing now, so Meyer The Hatter is historic and exceptional. They have a massive selection of hats for men and women, and their staff is highly knowledgeable and patient. They bend over backwards here to give a great experience, and to make sure you get a hat that fits perfect. If needed, they can even stretch a hat professionally in-shop to get a custom fit for you. Whether you’ve never been to a genuine hatter or you’re a hat fanatic, you’re in for a treat! Meyer The Hatter has been around since 1894, so it’s safe to say you’ll never find a more experienced hatter in the United States. On a recent visit to new Orleans I came across Meyer The Hatter as I was heading towards Canal St. What a find! I am a fan of hats both informal and formal. Great selection, variety of price-points and most importantly expertise. I wish I had more time to explore and purchase. With the loss of hat stores in general (JJ amd Worth & Worth are my favs in NYC) seeing Meyer was a treat. Hope to visit again soon and make some purchases as one can never have too many hats.

What a collection of 👒 🎩 🧢! This was my 2nd time there in 4 months from out-of-town. I am a hat person and couldn’t wait to get to Meyers. I was around the corner from the JW Marriott where we stayed so I just happened upon it the 1st time. This is a generational family owned hat shop. On our 2nd visit, it was the owners 96th birthday. He has a couple of his sons that work there also. If you are looking for a quality hat shop, this is it. Pictures of many celebrities that shop there also, so you are in good company!

This is the godliest hat store I have ever seen. I’ve bought many hats, I’d go to say I own about 20 and have been collecting since late 2020. This is the ONLY place that I could find the exact boater hat I wanted, with every other place being much today expensive (Sure, it was 120, but a day before I got a hat for 160, so this is great for such a rare hat which people overprice online). I come from Arizona so I don’t have too many options for hats, but out of every hat store I’ve ever seen, both online and in real life, THIS IS THE BEST!

If you like/love hats ... this is the place! Hats from all over the world. My favorite is Kangol. This place has been in business since the 1890's at the same location ... St Charles near Canal. I remember my father buying his Stetsons there in the 60's! All hats are of the highest quality and they have a tremendous inventory. If you are touring in New Orleans ... you MUST stop in!

Recently I traveled to New Orleans for business and stopped by Meyer the Hatter. Cedric was amazingly patient and helpful as I tried on a dozen straw hats before settling on the Stetson Stratoliner Florentine Milan. Since I didn't want to bring the hat back with me on the plane, I followed up with Cedric when I got home, and he quickly processed and shipped my order. They have a lot of hats in many sizes. Because we struggle finding hats in the right size this seemed like the right place to.. Unfortunately I ended up having to stand outside the store while my son shopped due to the rudeness of the owner who watched my family like a hawk as opposed to potential customers. Wow, what a place! This is an old school hat shop. They had a plethora of hats. All the hats you might possible want. The salesmen are not pushy, they don't rush you, and they didn't seem to mind pulling out a jumble of hats for me to try on, even though they didn't know if I was buying or just browsing. They will also help you find the perfect fit and style if you ask. If you need French, they speak that too! Cannot recommend enough. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to spend last weekend in New Orleans. Being from Michigan, I knew I would need a good straw hat to keep the sun off my face and head. I wanted a good, proper hat that would last. Meyer The Hatter was near our hotel and when I read the history of the family owned store, I knew this was the place to go. Walking in was almost overwhelming, there were so many nice hats to choose from. But the very friendly staff soon had us trying different colors, styles, and sizes until we were happy with what we chose. While I was looking for my perfect hat, my wife Heather found one she loved as well. We even found another hat each for cooler weather. The staff made us feel so welcome and were so friendly that we left the store with a warm glow - and not just because we now owned some great hats. I've been buying my hats from them for more than 20 years, even after moving away from New Orleans. Every time I come back to visit I always make a point of stopping in and picking up a new hat from there. The service is impeccable and the selection is always fantastic. Most recently, I received a gift card for the store for my birthday and since I didn't have plans for an upcoming visit I decided to use the card online. I ended up having to do the transaction over the phone and they made it incredibly easy and enjoyable (and it was the day after Mardi Gras to boot and believe me I know what being at work on that day is like). I highly recommend Meyer the Hatter. They are the best!

Pretty busy location, was out of a large number of hats I was looking at. The sales person seemed okay but could use a lot more knowledge to fit face shapes to hats. The guy running the place knew his stuff and the other sales people seem to really know what they were doing, just got the bad draw that day. If you are looking for a hat in NOLA you will likely not do any better than Meyer the Hatter.
