I purchased new skate skis, boots, and poles from Gear West. Steve fitted the skis and helped provide recommendations. He was outstanding along with the rest of the staff. It was an excellent experience. Gear West is my go to store for cross country ski gear. Options are superb and even more importantly, the knowledgeable service ensures that you get the right gear for your needs… and the fact that the process is fun is a bonus.

Amazing experience. 10/10 recommend. After going to a different shop the first few years of our ski/snowboard experience with kids we were dreading going again. We swore last year never to return to that horrible place with awful customer service (corporate owned in SLP). We arrived at Gear West with such low expectations that we didn't know what to do when we were warmly greeted, immediately whisked away in different directions (1 for ski, 1 for snowboard) and got started. In/out in 45 minutes with amazing assistance along the way. It was a night/day experience. The wait time to get our board and skis back is like 1/8 of the time that other place gave us. We were thrilled. Go to Gear West. They are amazing. They are kind. They are helpful. They smile. They work quickly and communicate well. So glad we decided to go somewhere else to give all our $$$ to for our kids to have an amazing winter season

I purchased both Alpine and Nordic skis/bindings/boots today. Talked to four different staff members -they all knew their stuff! They listened to how and where I’d use the skis, and showed me all my options (several of which I had already researched and had come to the same conclusion.) They got the skis snow ready in minutes! Such great quality gear at great prices. Wonderful selections too. Have also purchased running shoes and bikes here. They know everything about all their products. We’re SO lucky to have this gem of a sports store in the Twin Cites!

With three ski racers in the family this is the one and only place we go to to get our boots fitted, our skis tuned, and any gear we need. They do the very best they can to assist in our hand me downs… Which clearly makes them no money! Yet, we get honest feedback and skilled training to give us the very best advice. The other day, the schedule got messed up and Mark even stayed late to do two extra boot fittings for us. We were really grateful.

Gear West staff are incredibly knowledgeable about cross country skiing. I've gotten three pairs of skis from them over the last few years, and each time they did an excellent job of fitting me, describing the trade offs with different skis and how they will perform in various snow conditions. They also have a large inventory, including discounted skis from the prior year. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants not just any pair of skis, but a pair that will help them ski at their best.

I did not grow up Nordic skiing and my limited knowledge or the sport came primarily from my daughters experience as a racer. Once she began preparing to qualify for junior nationals I was clearly out of my league. Her coaches suggested a new quiver of skis and I called Gear West. The Gear West team spoon fed me through all of the pros and cons of each ski we were contemplating. After too many phone calls and even more emails, we walked away with the best fit and right gear for my daughter. While we spent a good chunk of change, I doubt it was enough to offset the time they took educating me about the research and science behind why what we bought was the right gear specifically for my daughter. I’ve had great experiences with my local ski shop, but the time Gear West spent with me was over the top! I have no doubt this shop has what you need and is willing to explain why it’s right (or wrong) for you. I feel like I have become an official “Nor-dork” thanks to Gear West, and in my “expert” opinion give this team an easy 10+ rating! -Eric

The rental equipment at Snowflake Nordic is all SNS boots & bindings. The industry move to NNN makes maintaining our inventory a challenge. Called Gear West, hoping to find SNS bindings. Catherine was most helpful, searched around the back-room and found me 10 pair of bindings, at a very reasonable price. Even promised to get them in the mail, tomorrow. Very impressive service. At some point we’ll have to transition 120 SNS boot/binding setups to NNN and I’ll certainly think of Gear West to help.

Great service and knowledgeable staff! After using my newly fitted ski boots (purchased elsewhere) for a few days, I was experiencing some discomfort. Not having success with the original fitter, I brought them to Gear West to see if they could punch or grind out the boot to fit better. They were able to see me right away (on a very busy day!) and provided a cheaper alternative that noticeably improved the fit of my boots, leaving my feet feeling fresher after a long day of skiing. I would highly recommend using Gear West for all your skiing needs.

Excellent boot fitting and ski service!! My wife and I purchased boots and skis from Gear West, and got a full boot fitting as well. I highly recommend anyone in the Twin Cities go to Gear West for any downhill ski needs. The boot fitting was great, I've gotten boots elsewhere previously and no place compares to Gear West. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable, kind and passionate about skiing. They will make you feel comfortable and ensure you get what is right for you. I had an issue with my new skis and want to give a special shoutout to Isabelle for her help! She resolved my issue extremely quickly and I've never had more fun skiing than I have with my new skis.

I drove for 2 hours today to Gear West to get new classic cross country skis, boots, bindings and boots today. 2 years ago I purchased new skate skis here and was so well taken care of that they were my first choice this time. **update 12/22 The first pair of boots ended up not working for me. I brought them back looking to try to heat mold them to help them fit better and the employee helping me deterred me from doing so. Instead, he let me return my old pair for a full refund- no questions asked, and helped me find a new pair that fit better and gave me 15% off! I cannot express how helpful and patient he was. Again, another amazing experience at Gear West. I came in looking for snowboard boots. They had brand new boots, last years boots, and used boots and quite a selection for all options. Finding women’s snowboard boots in my size (7) can be really hard but they had a bunch to choose from. I found a pair that fit nicely and got them at a 50% discount since they were past years model. Really friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend Gear West for winter recreation equipment!

Outstanding service. I got fitted for new ski boots and couldn’t be happier. They took all the time needed to get me into the correct boot, build a custom foot bed and punch the shell where needed. Took about two hours but they fit like a warm glove. They also had all the free coffee I could drink. I will do business with them again.

Thanks to the Gear West team for helping make things right! Bought ski boots here at the end of 2018 and immediately had issues with the zippers. Brought them in right away hoping they would fix them and they sent me away after putting wax on to help them zip better. It didn’t work and I went back again to get my boots repaired or replaced and was told that they couldn’t help me since my warranty was over (didn’t matter to them that I had been in with the same issue during the warranty period). The zippers have been coming apart multiple times an hour while I ski, making it hard for my feet to warm up. It’s been very frustrating to stop every time they open up and I got frostbite on my toes because they couldn’t warm up. Really disappointed with the customer service - They refused to cover the cost to repair my boots, even though I’ve reported the issue to them multiple times. I wish they kept track of my visits to see I had come in previously with the same issue.

This is our family’s favorite store for all things running and skiing (Alpine & Nordic). The entire staff is rock solid experts as they all use and do what they are helping you with. Do yourself a favor and skip the big box providers and head out to Gear West. It is easy to get to and worth our drive from Minnetonka.

If you need help with your bike, come here! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and very quick. I brought my bike in today after getting tired of waiting 30 minutes to even enter another bike store. At Gear West I was seen quickly, my bike was fixed, and I was on my way! I was able to schedule a running gait analysis for my 12 year old son and my husband. My son's left ankle has leaned in for a couple of years now. I mentioned it to his pediatrician and also at a different running store. Even though I was concerned about, the others did not think it was a problem. Wendi Morin explained what was going on and what he needed to correct the issue. I am so truly grateful! My husband has been having aches and pains (including knee pain), that has caused him to stop running. He was just cleared by his doctor to start going back to running. I told him to hold off until Wendi Morin analyzed him. She said that the shoes that he was in were all wrong for him. We are really hopeful that the new inserts and shoes will make all the difference and that he can get stronger and healthier. We are so very, very thankful for Wendi Morin and Gear West for getting us back on the road.

Since then, they’ve helped me expand my collection to include a skate ski setup, and they even fixed one of my skis after I managed to nearly snap it in two. Amazing experience. I bought a bike from out of state (from a different bike shop) and when it arrived both rotors were bent. Since it was new bike day I was dying to get out and ride. Gear West told me to bring it in because they could possibly true the rotor. They got me right in, fixed one and replaced the other but not before they tried really hard to fix it. They didn’t charge me for the labor only the new rotor. I was happy to pick up some other supplies while I was there, so overall it was a win-win for both of us. GW had the supplies I needed which is saying a lot since most shops have supply chain problems these days. Overall, had a great experience and GW now has a loyal customer.

The staff at Grear West rocks! While on a bike ride near the Gear West Wayzata store, I got a flat tire. My family went ahead ion the ride and I brought my bike into their shop. I have had many excellent experiences with Gear West Bike. A few years ago I got into road biking. After a couple thousand miles I was experiencing hip and knee pain. I got a professional fit at Gear West and now, well over 10,000 miles later, my hip and knees are still completely pain free. Normally a great place to buy new and used skis, snowboards, and winter gear. However today we went in to trade in skis and boots we had bought new from them two years ago which were still in very good condition. This place is amazing! I signed up for Ironman 70.3 and decided to make the investment for a dedicated tri bike. The rep was super friendly and patient. He walked me through different brands and price points and was honest about what I actually NEEDED instead of trying to sell me something more expensive. I purchase the Felt s32 and if things progress well in the next few years maybe I’ll upgrade to a full carbon bike. I also walked away with new cycling shoes. This place is the only true tri shop in the twin cities and I will only buy my equipment from them. My great first experience has made me a dedicated customer of Gear West.

After my first season of triathlon I was hooked, so over the winter months I was slowly upgrading my bike and gear to help me perform better and to get more comfortable on the bike. I had purchased a new seat at Gear West Bike and Tri, took it home and rode on it for about a week. It definitely was a better seat than what I had, but something still was off. I took the seat and my bike back out to Gear West where they were able to set my bike up on the trainer and swap seats in and out for me to try. They were incredibly patient with me needing to try the same seats multiple times because they wanted to be sure I was going to go home with the right product. When I did finally decide which seat was right for me(not the one I had taken home for a week) they helped me make some small adjustments to ensure I had a good fit with my bike seat. On another occasion I was shopping for a tri suit, I wasn't sure how comfortable I would be in a traditional tri suit. The staff was there to help show me all the options and some alternatives. I never thought I would be comfortable in a tri suit but they helped me find something that I really love to wear and I feel incredibly comfortable in it. It's great to know that the staff at Gear West really cares to help you figure out what will work best for you because it's definitely not the same for everyone. Not only are they knowledgeable cycling, they are knowledgeable about the sport of triathlon which can be hard to find in a bike shop. After all my trips to Gear West and seeing the mechanics out at just about every race I've done, I can see the staff is like a family and they are passionate about what they do. Run, don't walk out to Gear West Bike and Tri - you'll probably ride back home! Gear West Bike and Tri is as good as it gets. Simple as that. Some years ago - frustrated with some less - than - satisfying experiences - I was looking for a bike and tri shop where I could find unassuming, friendly folks (and avoid the local bike shop snob factor that seems to exist some places) who had a laid back approach (sell me what I need, not what you need to clear out of inventory!), really know their stuff and who would be dependable when it came to servicing my equipment. I found all four at Gear West. Whether you are a newbie or an Olympian (and you just might actually be shopping next to one when you're in the store) the staff are as friendly as they come - despite the fact that the staff includes amateur elites and pros. The staff really tries to get to know you and your cycling / triathlon goals and steers you towards the level of equipment that will help you achieve those goals - whether they include taking part in the Saturday morning group ride, racing off-road single track, hammering crits, finishing a local sprint tri or qualifying for Kona - and they know what it takes to accomplish those goals because they have "been there, done that". Regarding service, whenever I've needed a last minute tweak to my bike, they have managed to get it done - and done right - before race day. The passion these guys and gals have for cycling and triathlon is impressive - what other LBS actually took a group to the wind tunnel at MIT to analyze drag coefficients for different water bottle positions a bike frame? If you have adopted a torpedo, between - the - bar position for your water bottle, these folks are the reason why. Bottom line - Gear West Bike and Tri has the best equipment around, develops relationships with customers based on making cycling and triathlon fun, offers an unparalleled knowledge base and in my experience does the right thing for the customer every time

The service is second to none. Jared, a mechanic, has incredible knowledge of bike assembly and works very effectively and efficiently. i remember being at Annandale yrs ago and my shifting cable busted. SOL? NOPE! Jared was on site in the GW support tent, had the cabling and got me squared away for a successful race. Amazing service! He's saved me so many times in pinch scenerios. Last yr i special ordered a bike with custom colors, fit and the latest di2 shifting. The process was thorough from prefit, help picking the right gear best for me, color scheme, ordering, assembly and best fit after. They know their stuff!! One of the biggest differences with GW and other bike shops is they are not just staff they are athletes of all levels and are very passionate about cycling and triathlon and the community they serve. Over the 15 yrs of racing, I've traveled to several other cities for racing and training and have not found a shop with the expertise and service that GWB&T has.

My wife and I have been GearWest Bike and Tri customers since we moved to Minnesota 10 years ago. We started competing in triathlons when we moved here and quickly realized to be competive meant having the right equipment. Our first stop was Gear West Bike and Tri and we have never left. They have all your needs covered from bikes, race gear, wet suits, nutrition and everything in-between. Each time we purchased new bikes, we have returned to Gear West Bikes. I know I can trust owner Kevin O'connor's recommendations and if I have any issue they will get resolved without any questions. My first tri bike had some frame issues right before my first IM. Kevin called the manufacturer and had a new one overnighted. The staff worked late into the evening to build the bike up and test in time for my departure to the race the next morning. It is that level of customer service and dedication that has endeared us to this great team and shop. Like Kevin, the staff is extremely knowledgable and active in the racing community. They are passionate about what they do and the triathlon community. No other bike shop in the area gives more back to the tri community than Gear West Bike. It shows on race day when you see them bright and early providing last minute bike maintenance to cooking hotdogs for us all after the race. If you are looking for great service, dedication and a one stop shop then Gear West Bike and Tri is where you need to go.

After My pair of 30 yr. old Lange Tsi boots toe /shell cracked , and needing a new aggressive ski boot for an up coming ski trip, I contacted Scott at Adrenaline. After Scott took the time to preview 3 other boot choices , I settled on the Fischer Vacuum Ranger 10+ , an all mountain boot with hike feature . Scotts knowledge and experience made the difference in the fitting of this boot , as nothing compares to a well fitting alpine ski boot whilst pounding the slopes for hours a day !
