Great costume shop! Our equivalent in Nashville, Performance Costume, closed a couple years ago. I miss that place, but cool as it was it wasn't as cool as Caufield's. Whenever I'm in Louisville I like to stop by there. They have tons of items - costumes, masks, props, make-up - and super-affordable prices. The back room is decorated in a horror backdrop with animatronic figures, colored lights, and spooky music year round. A must visit for Halloween enthusiasts, they've been in business since 1920!

Best shop of it's kind in Louisville. Good people, cool everything. Trust me and just go check it out. As a local artist it's awesome to see the whole store embrace creativity. Anyways, get the drumroll ready for the point: Suzie Sea & Nick Sea give it 5 thumbs up! Yay! We had to borrow a thumb from a gremlin. Now the gremlins and trolls are at war with each other again. I should probably give them their princess and magic thumb back. Cause I don't have enough fuel left in the time machine to fix it, and the Dragonzord is getting upgrades at the auto shop on Mars. So cookies and 7 rotting pig's feet seem to be the only things left that will save humanity and bongos now. Um .... What was I talking about? Oh, pumpkin pie! Duh. You should go get pies. And remember I love you whoever you are reading this. Here, have this magic thumb. It's good luck until it's not. Then run.

The best place in town to get that random, highly-specific piece for your killer Halloween costume. They seriously have everything! There is also a big selection of gags, magic etc. if you're into that. Employees are very nice and very helpful. Walking distance to some cool attractions on Main so it's a cool place to check out if you are visiting town and want to wander on foot! The free circulator bus runs nearby as well, which makes this an appealing place to park and start your journey. Also Zoltar!

Some of the best costumes and novelty around. I couldn't give 5 stars even tho it's obtainable, the costume I want so bad has been posted on their website but out of stock for nearly 7 years. Bummer! I looked for it this year and the site has been updated, I no longer see it listed. But it was a wizard mascot costume to where the head of the wizard sat at chest level and the eye holes was through the hat. I'm also interested in an adult light up stick man spandex jumper. I don't see any of those either...maybe next year!

Such a cool store! Halloween shopping for days, AND all year long, as it should be! The Dungeon room was our favorite. All those fascinating yard displays you encounter in small groupings at your favorite house in the neighborhood arranged together in a dark and sinister, motion activated chamber.

If you're into Halloween or just like to dress in costumes please go visit the list place. They have everything in there. This was my first visit and the staff were wonderful. They had me take a tour all around the store. Check out the dungeon. Great for a good scare. Children beware!!

Loved this unique shop. We went there to see the World's Largest Vampire Bat, on the side of the building, then stayed for awhile walking around the store. They have soooo many costumes and party supplies. The dungeon was fun to walk around inn, as well. Staff super nice and friendly.

The employees have always been the best! It's never about the biggest sale prices, but helpful to what you want to do, and create! I came in today, because Halloween is the best time to buy, and find what you need. I wasn't shopping for Halloween. I was piecing together something for a Convention next year. The selection is huge! And the employees are all that's gracious, and wonderful! I already had some parts of what I am going to create, and was helped further here, to get the rest, except for the white-out Sclera contacts I needed. And the Gentleman Employee who was my helper, told me about the KY laws about contacts, and when I said I'd bought online before, he went further, and said that online purchases, the water they come in might cause infections. And I said I already knew, but how wonderful is that? To be warned about something they don't sell???? I will ALWAYS recommend Caufield's.

Shop was very clean and had a lot of pretty cool things. I was looking for something very specific which they did not stock. Staff was very friendly and assisted in looking item up and was very willing to work with me and get it ordered if I wanted to do so. Hello I visited the Caulfields today and I loved the haunted room and all the costumes were amazing but at the checkout I brought my kids and their were “boobs” and other inappropriate stuff can you ple take that down.

Staff is always very helpful, but the last time I was in there they didn't have some pretty standard magic gimmicks that I needed, on item was sold out and the other they didn't stock. Also prices are pretty high, but it's worth it to support a great local business and the only magic shop in town. Costume and makeup selection is excellent.

You just don't find this level of quality in your chain Halloween stores. They have a statue of Regan from The Exorcist complete with turning head, ghouls fighting over someone, Michael Myers and a host of excellent mobile creatures.

My son had a birthday and some of the decorations weren’t going to make it on time from amazon. I called Caufields to ask if they might have the items in stock. They not only had them in stock but went above and beyond to accommodate me, as I lived 2.5 hours away and couldn’t make it there before they closed. This store is open year-round I only thought it was open for Halloween season so that's good to know. My only concern is that I wish the more adult costumes and paraphernalia were set towards the back or in a separate room. Aside from that it has a plethora of items that you can find. The building is pretty easy to locate downtown and it has a small parking lot on both sides of the building.

AMAZING!!!!!!!! Was at a different costume store when I ran into a couple of young men and started a conversation with them about the lack of selection at that store. They suggested Caufield's, so Jim and I went to the one downtown. It was friggin AWESOME! They had so much to chose from, it would've taken me days to go through!! AND, we found just what we were looking for! Another great plus, they had Steampunk hats, glasses, jewelry, weapons....I wanted to buy all of it!!! Think I'll go again next year FIRST!!!!

This is a great novelty, magic, and costume store all year long. Though many will agree, when the spook-bug bites, and you are in the mood for Halloween, this place is a must. Based on square footage, I don't believe this is the largest novelty store in town. With that said, I still feel the amount of merchandise inside is so heavily concentrated and packed in that the variety and selection outweighs the competition. There are several rooms pinned together in the old warehouse of a building. Each room tends to specialize in one area such as props, costumes, novelty lights, magician supplies, masks, etc.; though, some merchandise categories bleeds into other rooms. A visit to Caufield's is always entertaining, especially during the Halloween season. Not only do I usually find what I need here, but I feel like I've gone out and done something... like visited a horror museum.

A must stop shop or any cosplayer or costuming enthusiastic. Prices are always reasonable fantastic selection of makeup, wigs, masks, and other costumes. You have to visit to truly appreciate this company.
