Every little detail on my new suit, blazer, outerwear jacket, and dress shirts were customized to exactly what I wanted with top notch fabrics and materials. She was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the materials and different style options. I started with knot standard in 2021. I was gifted a couple made to measure shirts. I loved them. My original stylist went on to a different boutique and I was gifted the talents of Mattie. She’s incredibly conscious and aware of current trends and yet relaxed and makes you incredibly comfortable to mix between current and what you are comfortable wearing. She takes the time to discuss your options and most importantly what you are expecting. My clothes are sensational. The fabric selections and the options for suiting, shirts, and pants in all price points are numerous. Mattie and Jen have been incredible to work with. My most recent order was delayed by some optional choices I made(requested full heel guards). The tailor, Jen and Mattie have been extraordinarily cooperative and pleasant. It’s the difficult times that define our service experiences and I for one am sold. It’s been a delight to work with them, to hear there depth of knowledge and to most importantly feel great in my wardrobe. Thank you seems trite, but you must work with Mattie, she’s extraordinary!

Awesome experience!! Originally went in for an outer coat, but had so much fun designing every little detail of it, knew I had to get some pants and a shirt too. For me personally, picking out the right style can be difficult, but I was relieved to have Mattie helping me through the process. As it was my first time getting custom clothes, she was really patient and walked me through all the different options available (there’s a lot). I was able to bounce some different ideas off her and she had some great recommendations for things I wasn’t too sure about. You could definitely tell she’s passionate about making sure you look and feel your best in what you’re wearing. Overall, love the way everything turned out and fits. Highly recommend.

Lauren is my primary contact and over the last couple of years I’ve worked with her on multiple suits and a coat. I typically have a broad idea of what I’m looking for, but she is always very helpful with making informed decisions on the more granular details (eg comparisons among the ‘short list’ of fabrics, details on vests, etc). It’s also worth noting that the team works cohesively with no impact to the level of service. While Lauren was on leave I worked with Jen and the experience only reinforced my opinion. There’s no shortage of bespoke clothiers in Chicago and my prior experiences over the years have been mixed. As with most, I place a lot of weight on consistency in customer experience. I’ve donated some of these suits and replaced them with items through Lauren. As a data point, the Knot Standard team has been able to accept and route donated suits to organizations helping individuals seeking employment who are in need of business appropriate attire. If you are looking to add to an existing wardrobe or start building one I highly recommend getting on Lauren’s calendar.

As building a suit from scratch is a very personalized experience, you will have new ideas every time you work with different member of the team. My recent experience was with Mattie, a very nice and intelligent advisor who was kind enough to help me during the fitting process of a suit another team member styled before (which is usually harder than doing this for a suit she worked on from the start), Mattie did her best to get everything done in a very professional way, and she did not let the suit leaves the showroom before she was sure that everything is up to Knot Standard promise of customer satisfaction. If you are in market for a new suit or tux reach out to them and ask for Mattie, you will be in good hands, and keep an eye on Knot Standard social media, they usually have very nice deals.

One time, my dry cleaners accidentally damaged the delicate buttons on my custom blazer and I was heart broken. I asked Lauren (my stylist) and Mattie if it was possible to order replacements. To my delight, they quickly ordered the replacements AND made the alterations free of charge (I was not expecting that). I've been going to Knot Standard for formalwear for about four years now. Lauren L. has been my stylist for probably a couple of years now and it's been great. I've bought a couple of blazers, shirts, and overcoats as well as a navy-ish suit and a classic black tuxedo. The clothes I get always fit amazingly, and the fabric choices are surprisingly extensive and all high-quality (even the cheaper fabrics). It's nice to be able to customize details like coat linings, lapel felts, buttons, monograms, etc. Lauren and the other stylists I've worked with make great recommendations and always make sure I'm happy with what I've purchased.

I went to Knot Standard for a custom tux for my wedding. I worked with Lauren who was incredible. She had fixes for all of the little things that always bothered me about off the rack clothes (side pants pockets flare out, too much fabric under the arms in my shirts). My favorite thing about Knot Standard were the embroiderings throughout the tux. I had my wedding date under the back collar of my jacket, initials on my shirt cuff and my name inside my jacket. Overall, I was extremely happy and would gladly go back.

Beforehand I was wearing off-the-rack suits that fit me poorly and now I can only wear custom. Knot Standard is an amazing place. Located at street level, where you can easier park in front, the service is impeccable. Making an appointment there no waiting and comfortable surroundings. The fabrics are fantasticfor men, shirts are that type of fabric that is comfortable and tailored perfectly. Once your sizes are in place, you can order any fabric you want in minutes. The same goes for sports jackets. Material that you won't see off the rack or at most Michigan ave stores. I highly recommend it.

From the initial sizing and measurement approach to the selection of fabric, pattern, and personalization features, Jennifer uses her vast knowledge of menswear to ensure the final garments not only fit supremely well, but also complement other items one may already possess (e.g., tie patterns, shirting, belts/braces, outerwear, and shoes). What’s more, Jennifer strives to ensure each garment represents the wearer’s personality—even if subtly—which is, I feel, an extraordinary styling point that is lost on alternate firms’ selection and finalization approaches (or, some others push a disproportionate amount of personalization which results in an unflattering garment that is soon obsolete). I love Knot Standard. I was not really big on fashion but after coming in for an initial consultation with Katie Fazio and my team I'm really excited about it! Their space is modern and their team is extremely welcoming. We were greeted and escorted to the other side of the space with pretzel sticks and whiskey (Bulleit, one of my favorites!) while flipping through fabrics and getting our measurements taken. After a good conversation and finishing up our drinks we were told that our shirts would be ready in about a month. A few weeks later, my team and I received all of our custom shirts (with our startup's logo embroidered!) and now we always attend important meetings and events with our custom shirts. As a (digital) designer at heart I deeply appreciate being able to collaboratively pick out all of the colors and materials, including the stitching, buttons, embroidery and of course of the entire shirt. I definitely needed help to make some of these decisions and Katie's style expertise showed through immediately. Apparently this VIP experience is standard at Knot Standard. I’ve always appreciated great formal and business clothing and appeal ranging from Suit Supply, Nordstrom’s, and Bloomingdales. Each purchase (shirts, slacks, jackets, and suits) left me feeling good but not great… I wanted to love it but was restricted to what was on the rack. Knot Standard is my first experience having tailored business clothing and will never go back! I worked with Jennifer Fockler and was calmly welcomed and introduced to the process. I learned a lot along the about mistakes I’ve made in the past (pockets are supposed to be functional, jacket length, etc). Jennifer listened and identify what I liked from a style perspective and identify great combinations of fabrics, colors, thread, and buttons. The process takes a number of weeks but is well worth the wait once you try it on. My 40+ measurements are saved in the system and can be tweaked as needed making repeat visits easy and enjoyable… i.e. just picking out my new shirt or jacket. The personal touches like having my initials inside my jacket, custom pen pockets, perfectly fit and tapered slacks has exceeded my expectations and I will be coming back.
