Definitely one of the best thrift stores in the area. It’s well organized and clean, which I found to be quite impressive. The selection of clothing is on trend. I sold some clothes here for the first time just recently and found my overall experience to be pleasant. The first associate who greeted me had dreadlocks and she was so courteous and took the time to explain the entire selling process. A woman named Monique bought my items. Overall, a great experience.

Came here for clothes, and shoes. I’m a bigger girl, and they didn’t have any sizes higher than XL. That’s the only reason I gave 4 stars. Buttttttt what saved it was they had so many shoes! And I found Adidas NMDs that are usually $120+ new for only $20! And in decent condition. Also found some ultra boosts that are $150+ new in awesome condition as well for only 17.99! You want some awesome clothes and shoes? Def go here.

It was the end of a long day and I wanted to go home but needed a jacket because it got really cold this week and I wasn't prepared. I google searched "a second hand store near me" to find a place that was open. The "Uptown cheapskate" was the one I chose because they were open the latest compared to all the other second hand stores anywhere near here. Once getting there I loved their wide range of sizes and selection of great quality winter clothes I found there! I'll be returning in the near future. Oh, I almost forgot to get this in, young people were closing tonight, this is a Friday night mind you, and I knew it was getting close to closing time but no one ever came over the load speaker asking patrons to wind it up because they wanted to get out of there, nope, not one word to hurry me up. They just kept right on cleaning etc until I asked them if they would be letting us know it was closing time? But one of the girls said "we've been closed for 10 minutes, but we don't want to rush you". That was so nice. I of course hurried up and got checked out but I thought that was go nice. It was a nice end to a busy day! I went home warm!👍

I always enjoy shopping this store n even more, i happen 2 hit there dollar n $2 sale. I walked out of there with 6 full bags for less than $60. Now that is most fabulous. The employees as always were very helpful n very nice. A enjoyable shopping experience....gotta love love their shoe selection

Hit or miss obviously because their inventory is always changing. They are bringing in brand new merchandise that seems cheap Chinese generic stuff. So picky on what they will buy, but I'm not finding any better on the racks. It's a treasure hunt really, but lately the treasures seem overpriced.

I adore uptown cheapskate, being able to take gently used clothing, shoes, etc. Is incredibly nice and to choose between store credit or cash is phenomenal. And inevitably every time I take things and I end up buying several more things because they have an awesome selection and everyone that works at both of the locations are so nice and kind and patient sweetest people ever. 10 out of 10 I highly recommend checking them out.

Well ... I only want to be honest and tell you what is great and what could be improved, because I appreciate UC so much. I'd like to make it a better shopping experience so that I would come to you guys even more. Your inventory is pretty great. You could use more adult comfy long sleeves for women. Also, more earrings would be nice. Also, as a disabled person, it would be so much appreciated to have more places to sit to try on shoes and have seats closer to a mirror. I have to walk all over the store as it is, just to look at my feet. And because I can't squat or get up and down off the floor, I have to sit to try shoes on ... Just a suggestion ☺️😀🙏

My experiences have always been great at this retail establishment. I can't quite figure out the method of their purchase criteria but even if they accept a few items, its still worthwhile to get store credit to buy more stuff you don't need. What I like most, is the option to browse for items that I wouldn't go for in a normal dept store - due to their variety and prices (Even though they have gone up a bit). This has allowed me to expand my style. My only two suggestions are: to continue to offer affordable prices and to offer more larger sizes when can.

I bought some dresses and shoes to possibly use for a wedding and none were used. Returning within the month was no problem. Exchanged for clearance shorts- 75% off, so an incredible deal, and bought back to school boots. Bathrooms were MUCH nicer than any 2nd hand store I ever saw. Managers were clearing seasonal items and were so friendly and helpful. At the register, the pad used to pull up membership using phone number did not work. Used two different ones, but when hand entered by cashier, it oulled me right up. Wonderful stuff in stock. More flattering ON than imagined on hanger. Well organized store. Was looking for unusual item and floor employee helped me find it, and let me know they did not carry something else. Good, knowledgeable employees. Love my experience every single time I come. Plenty of parking, at the Fairview store. Never been to the one downtown. But would like to visit it.❤️

The best clothing consignment store I've experienced. Even on days when the staff is swamped with orders, they are helpful, friendly and patient. I have always found a gem or two of an item while waiting for my order to be gone through, and then put my money earned from consignment towards store credit. They will also donate your items that didn't make the cut, saving you a trip to the thrift store. All around WIN if you ask me! Thank you for great service!

I went in to get a affordable dress for my best friends birthday dinner. Let’s just say it went great! Found such a great urban outfitters dress for $16, cute earrings, and a necklace. I did have to wait in line in for awhile, which I don’t mind waiting. But I was trying to be quick and I have 3 things…they should get their second cashier going. Overall, great place! If you love a good resale store you are going to love this place! Very clean, and well laid out. They have a great variety of clothing, trendy and staple pieces. Very fair pricing and they have great sales. If you want to sell your clothes they give you more money if you take in-store credit. They even give loyalty discounts and discounts on your birthday month. I have been going for years, love how big the store is now after the expansion.

I would love to give this business five stars, but the customer service is so bad. I'm an understanding person and I know that people have bad days. But I've been here many times and more often than not, the employees are just really blatantly rude. They don't acknowledge you or greet you when you come in and they don't stop talking to each other to give any attention to waiting customers. It feels like I'm interrupting a personal conversation every time I walk up to the counter and I'm inconveniencing them just trying to purchase items or sell items. Such a bummer

Uptown Cheapskate is a 11/10. The day that I found the store it was the day that I decided to completely cut all ties with literally any other store I went to. When it comes to an organized/clean space to openly shop in while thrifting, there is no other spot. All staff that I have come across in the boise location have been super helpful and very encouraging when I buy a new piece to add to my closets collection. I have also visited plenty others while vacationing outside of Idaho and have experience the same things. I am so grateful that they have more than one location so that I can feel at home everywhere I go. Thank you uptown cheapskate for always being there for me! You’re the real MVP.

Great low prices for very well kept excellent condition clothing items AND extra discount prices on TOP of the already low prices! Friendly helpful staff. Clean. Lay out is a little confusing and maybe could be more organized in a less confusing way. Instead of zigzagging types of shirts (sleeveless, t-shirts, dress shirts, long sleeves) all separately going xs to xxl then when out of room begin to hang them up along the entire edging of the wall. Using about 70% of the walls makings it a puzzle to locate items. Also maybe placing the shoes all together since there is no more than maybe 150 pairs total. Each item of clothing is well tagged and the tag is on the same spot on every item. Not placing the displays so chaotic and random, so it looks more professional. Not like somebody didn’t want to put them back where they go so they stacked them on the end of row. GREAT STORE! Just need to organize the layout so it causes a more natural flow for customers adding to the already great customer service and they’ll see more items-buy them-and leave with the feeling of a successful shopping experience and a big smile on. Happy customer = Big smile = loyal customers = Telling family and friends to go there = new customers = more sales! Great set up with great customer service is key to success and sky rocketing profits! Customers save more money and you make more money! WIN WIN!

Uptown Cheapskate has a very large selection and is roughly 80% female clothes and 20% male clothes. This is an exchange not a thrift store so prices are a little more expensive but product quality is often much higher than a thrift store. You can trade in your old but good condition clothes here for cash or for in store credit with a small percentage higher. The only thing "bad" is basketball shoes and some running shoes seem too pricey.

I have been coming here for years and I have always had good experiences! This store has evolved into a fantastic, huge, well staffed treasure hunt! The prices are great and the selection is unreal! My favorite thing is all the cool jewelry! The owners really seem to hire quality people and put lots of work into this business! Two of my favorite employees are Serena and Mauri, they both do an excellent job, and always greet me with my first name! I highly recommend this business!

My daughter brought in some very gently used Levi Wedgie's that she bought only 1 year ago for $98 and the buyer at uptown offered her $4 per pair! SELLERS BEWARE!

I went into uptown last Wednesday around 1 o’clock In the afternoon to try and sell off some of my old clothes that I didn’t need/wear anymore. I walked in and was greeted by a lovely young lady named Serena. She helped me pick out the right clothes that I love so much. She helped me understand the process of selling and also the benefits to shopping at resale stores. It’s fascinating how recycling can benefit in the fashion community. I would recommend this place again, and I greatly appreciate the friendly staff.

I love shopping for clothes here. I buy all my jackets, tops and dresses here. I'm size 2X or 22-24. I can find all kinds of Torrid, Aerie, Old Navy and name brand cute clothes that are my size. There are absolutely no pants here my size but the tops are great. I wish they would buy more Torrid items and larger pant sizes. Everytime I'm there I buy every single Torrid item I find there. The prices are GREAT! They should really just make an entire store for plus size people to buy from because I feel like the section is way picked through compared to the size small or medium sections. I really love that they opened a store in East Boise too. It's right by my work so I can stop by on my lunch break. Masks are required. Dressing rooms are open at the Fairview location but last time I checked at the Broadway location they were closed.

Not sure why there's so many bad reviews for selling here!! I always get top dollar for my stuff, just this week I sold 4 items for $33!! The girls here are amazing!! They are so sweet and always helpful!! Yes, sometimes they get a little chatty...but that's human!! And it's very clear that they love their job. I think there's too much of a double standard when it comes to resale places, people expect lots of money when they sell and super low prices when purchasing!! It's a business!! If you want to get what they are selling the items for, then sell it yourselves!! You're paying for the service just like you would at any other store. Keep up the great work Uptown!!!

I just moved to town and this is my new favorite store! I never expected to find such a hip thrift store here. Yesterday I tried on 8 dresses, and took home 5. I've never had so much success in a dressing room. Their selection is AMAZING and they have an attached store where I can (and did) get several cute outfits for my kiddo. The new expansion to the store has helped everything open up a lot. The racks are no longer crowded and I can easily push clothes over to get to what I want without a load falling onto the ground. The staff was really cute, helpful, and friendly. I've never had a bad experience shopping here and I cant wait to trade in some of my old clothes for in store credit. I could get cash but let's be real, it's all going to be spent in the store anyways. I got cute new Calvin Klein Jean's for like $8, a new sweater for $6, and a pair of american eagle knock of burkies for $10. So awesome!!!

great selection of clothes, but WARNING!!! MAKE SURE YOUR SECURITY TAGS ARE REMOVED BEFORE LEAVING!! I have gone shopping then been all the way home to realize they did not remove my security tag. It is not my job to have to go back there and have it removed. Please make sure all staff look to make sure there isn't one before putting the clothes in the bag. It is there job to remove it while at the cash register.

I literally don’t shop for clothes or shoes anywhere else anymore. I love this place so much that they recognize my face when I come in! Everyone is very down to earth, and the selection is HUGE you could spend hours in there if you wanted to. I can literally replace my whole closet for under $200 and it’s fantastic! It is pretty organized and they have “bins” in the front that you can put things in and they hold them for you so you don’t have to hold all the stuff you want to try on, and they have a great punch card reward system, and they do these $15 dollar bag days to raise money for schools in Africa! You can donate $15 and they give you a HUGE bag and you can fill in up from a giant selection of bins of things they were having a hard time selling, great way to give back to the world. Never been happier to shop somewhere!

It's a little overwhelming trying to find women's clothes versus men's clothes, shoe sizes. There isn't a big variety of clothing styles like there used to be.

i love uptown cheapskate! i’ve been going here for almost a year now, and the staff has always been so kind and the clothes are amazingly cheap yet in great condition. the only problem is that with quite a few of my pants (along with some of my other friends and family’s who shop there) end up with the security tag still on them when i leave the store. mistakes happen though, and i’m excited to come back soon for summer clothing!

We discovered this in Wichita, KS and we were so excited to find one here in Boise! There are many 1 of a kind items. There is something in every size. We allow 100$ limit per time and the girls come away with loads of merchandise. Great value for the dollar. The staff were all very attentive and helpful. The girls here are always SO sweet, truly can’t say enough good things. However, I won’t be coming back most likely after I’ve sold my clothes here so many times and there are often a lot of other bags and a lot going on and I’m always worried my stuff is going to get mixed with someone else’s. I have now twice in the last couple of weeks picked up my stuff and had someone else’s articles of clothing in my bags. Such a bummer, but I bring in a lot of great clothes and I don’t want to get paid for someone else’s things, or have them get paid for mine. Really hate to go back to selling at platos but that’s the only thing I can say about them is that they’re organized and I don’t have a worry.

Uptown pays ok prices for gently used clothing. Don't expect a full wallet, but fair for used clothing. Also, I've never been turned down on my clothing sales. Their selection of clothing is also pretty good with fair prices. They donate your unwanted clothing that hasn't been bought by them for a charity that builds homes in Africa, which seems a good cause to me.

I like to go shopping here for myself but I'm also one to say what I dislike about the place even if I still go there. I feel like they are WAY too picky on the things they accept for trade ins. But yet if I look through there stuff I always can find things that are from Walmart and that have holes or stains on them. I always keep my stuff in close to perfect condition. A few days ago I brought in two bags full of name brand jeans, all in new condition and a few even still had price tags on them that I never wore and just forgot to return. I expected for them to at least take a few out of the two big bags and when they called my name I walked up to the lady and all she said was "sorry we couldn't take anything at this time, were being really selective on what we take." But yet they were almost all new pants, none were Walmart or from cheap places. It's just a little ridiculous that I find pants that they have that are not in the best condition for some and that are from places like Walmart and Target but yet they would not even take one pair of my name brand pants. I still will continue to go there every now and then but not nearly as much as I used to due to that they literally never take any of my nice things from old Navy, American eagle, Victoria secret ect. They need to stop being so nit picky.

I just want to recognize Dana the manager. My sister and I always come to Uptown for their amazing deals and to sell our unwanted clothing. Recently we dropped clothes off and there was a mishap when returning them. I called to inform there had been a mistake. I talked the Ana, a sales associate, I also talked to Dana, the manager. Was glad when Uptown Cheapskate came to Boise; use to go to the one in Fort Worth. The prices they offer are fair, and they aren't stuck on "name brands" like some resale stores; they look at the STYLE. I've read some comments that they didn't get much on what they sold. I've sold items at the places on Milwaukee and Franklin. Uptown C offers are much better, as is items they will take. If you want to know why they didn't buy your stuff, ask them.
