2020- updated with pix only 2018-Great quality store the staff is very friendly knowledgeable and helpful. They carry all the brands they got to great outdoor gear summer gear anything that you could think of they have it if not they order it. Yes their prices are a little higher than Department stores but the quality is there it backs it up it’s worth it it’s got a huge huge lay out check it out it’s worth it it’s in a every outdoor lovers dream.

Big Ray's is the outfitter you need for the wonderful winter wonderland that is Alaska. Just look at their boot selection: I dare say I've never seen so many boots at one place in my whole life. The prices are high, but the end product is really worth it. You'll hardly find a better place to buy your name-brand XTRATUF'S in any size. (Btw, aren't XTRATUF'S basically the Supreme of Alaska? Food for thought)

Its my first time living in Anchorage and I understand that size selections can be limited coming into winter But overall a great store to shop in and get what you need if you time it right. I had kind of bad timing and I wear a medium coat which is a pretty popular size and only found one coat that fit me. Good customer service 👍 10/10 recommend for quality items

Good gear at good prices with super friendly and helpful staff. They didn't have the wool felt insoles i was looking for, but had a really great pair of glasses for cheap. The real question though is Who's Ray? The founders names aren't Ray. Their kids aren't Ray. Did one of them use their middle name, and it was Ray? Hmm.

11/15/2021: There's this superb employee at the midtown Big Ray's. I was trying to find a coat for my Baby & couldn't decide what size I needed to buy her. A lady that came to help me find things held a coat in her hand. It finally popped up in my head to ask her, "may you please try it on? She's your height & close to your build." she tried to get out of being put on the spot. 😂 "I need to see it how it'll fit though. Can you please put it on?" I then came to a conclusion, that my baby does not wear a size small in that particular coat. Exceptional lady! I wish I remembered her name. 🤦🤣

Brought my 2 young boys here for new winter gear. They had a blast choosing for themselves. Great selection. Kids area separated making it easy to check sizes and shop without worry they would get too far away. Found a few things for myself as well! Will definitely go back.

I like the coats, boots, gear, everything about the store inventory. The store is a one stop store for most outdoor sports for men, women, and children. The merchandise is expensive, but that's because the quality is made/built to last a very long time.

This is not Walley World, this is a fine store with quality merchandise. I bought a sweatshirt that is as thick and soft as any sweatshirt I have ever purchased. While looking around the store I found the prices to be fair and the staff or be helpful and curtious. I will certainly be back.

They have quality stuff that is hard to find in Alaska, but they are so poorly organized. Their POS seems stuck in the 90s. Getting in and out quickly is not likely. Local business are important, but so many fail to compete because they don't keep up with modern business practices. I hope they update their internal ways before a national company shows up and steamrolls them.

I like shopping here. It's also known as the carhart store. They are doing an expansion right now but they are open. I went in for a couple new pairs of pants. When you really want to show up there is when they have the big tent sale. Last sale I found a pair of badass boots originally $120. Marked down to $9.99. Fantastic! The staff there is friendly, informative, and knowledgable. They may not be the cheapest option all the time but they stay well stocked up. Ask for the military discount.

Yah Big Ray's has pretty much everything you need in workwear summer and especially winter.They have a vast selection of Carhartt, and an impressive supply of quality "Big" name boots. Oh and by the way it's not all workwear. Totally remodeled with very friendly staff to serve all your clothing needs.

Long-time LOCAL ALASKAN business - I appreciate Big Ray's. Store was in remodel mode when I visited, but items were still easy to view & find. They have excellent brands, and deserve your consideration and support before you go to any of the "big box" or "national" stores.

Amazing. Got a pair boots. Staff that actually helps you. Went back to get husband boots a couple days later. Still had great service. Sportsmans and Cabelas apparently is not concerned about their revenues and thank you for that. Big Rays is the only place for boots for us now on.

It's Alaska, so I expected the prices here to match, as everything here is new. The cost came out be pretty close to what you'd pay down South, and the selection was varied for every type of clothing. Amazon and REI would only be my choices if I either couldn't find an article here, or wanted to pay more.

They had plenty of men's Carhart apparel in tall sizes for my husband who is 6'6", but when I asked if they had any tall sizes for women they did not. They said none of their stores carry talls, but they would order them online for me if I wanted. I declined, saying I could order online myself. Otherwise the clerks were friendly and the selection was good...if you're a guy.
